I do not own the "Noblesse"or its characters. I only own this story and my OCs.

Chapter 11: Determination

After he waited for everyone to get through the initial shock that he appeared suddenly in front of them like a phantom, Frankenstein asked a very specific question.

"So…where is it?" his tone was very serious and Sara would have thought that he was addressing her, given the almost malicious vibe he spoke with, but apparently he was looking at the three men on the other couch.

"Where is…what boss?" asked Tao.

"What else? The hole on the in the ceiling"

"Ohhh…" replied Tao "Well, over there? Can you see it? Well since you can't and you already ask does it mean we did a good job? We closed it very thoroughly" he said in one breath.

Sara raised her eyebrow. Was it really that much of a deal the hole in the ceiling, given the fact that they almost had a bloody fight that day? She was really wondering. But she had to admit now that she was paying attention…they really did a good job.

Frankenstein inspected the place Tao showed him for over a minute. The silence was thick in the room. No one dared to speak. Sara was continuing to sit there awkwardly. After a little while, Frankenstein spoke.

"Well, it looks like you did manage to do a good job, well done boys" but they knew not to let that compliment fool them "But" there it was; the creepy aura of his "remember never to play like that in the living room. After all, why the hell did I provide you with a training room?" and there was that smile "Did I make myself clear?"

The boys nodded their heads.

"And you Sara? Did you understand me?"

"Completely" she said in a monotone voice. She was really confused but she didn't really care for the whole thing. She made a mental note though to ask Tao later if that was a regular occurrence in the house.

With a sigh Frankenstein turned to all of them "So…how much did I miss?" his tone sounded genuine for once. At least in Sara's ears, as it was the first time she heard that tone from him. You could almost describe it as…caring.

The grey haired man stood up and went right in front of Frankenstein. He took a shaky breath and looked Frankenstein in the eye. It was like he was afraid to utter the words.

"Erm...I don't know how to say this so…" he closed his eyes and chuckled in nervousness "Well, I guess I will roll with this" he continued while he raised his right hand to the very confused human that was staring at him.

For a moment Frankenstein thought that Sara might have done something to him with her empathetic abilities. But then again M-21's eyes looked so sincere and so desperate to hold the tears in.

"My name is Bartholomew. Bart for short"

That moment could have lasted a century but in reality it only lasted a few seconds. Frankenstein was genuinely shocked. It wasn't difficult to understand how M-21 knew his name; or whom he learned it from. What surprised him was that Sara actually knew M-21's real name. Or did she? He still wasn't sure what she was hiding but that might just have been a small sample. Hey, he survived for this long partly because he never trusted others that easily.

As he gave his hand to the person in front of him he realized that the code name had to be left behind "Nice to meet you, Bart" he smiled 'My boy'. And for the second time he was shocked as he was suddenly in the embrace of that amazing person he came to call family. He returned the hug but it was short lived as he saw from the corner of his eye someone leaving the scene wearing a proud smile on their face.

"And where do you think you are going miss?" he said smoothly.

Sara stood still, next to the couch "Well, apparently it is a touching family moment. I wouldn't want to interrupt and…ruin it" she answered with a suggestive tone.

Tao seeing the tension beginning to rise went to step in…as usual.

"Well Sara, you were going to tell us about Anthony and the escape plan, right?"

"I have already said the most of it Tao" she answered still looking at Frankenstein cautiously "Besides the escape plan took a completely different direction of what we thought it would" she paused and looked at Bart, trying to hide the tension that was slowly building behind her neutral demeanor "We failed" she sighed "But I guess that doesn't come as a shock seeing as you ended up with a broken body and no memories and…"

"What happened to you Sara?" Bart interrupted her calmly. He too didn't want her to leave just yet, not before he was to learn what he wanted "What happened that day?"

Sara went to look at the floor. Her long auburn hair was hiding most of her face.

"That day…we lost everything. I…lost everything"

There was silence for a few seconds, and then there was Frankenstein.

"While I understand the pain and misery Sara, I still want to hear all the details"

"Oh, why don't you give me a break, will you?! We were in the same experiment series, we decided to escape, the plan didn't work, AND PEOPLE DIED!" she screamed "Why do you want to stir so many bad memories?!"

"Were the people that died dear to you?" he asked with an interrogative manner. Somehow Takeo felt that this way wasn't that much different from Tao's earlier this week.

"Yes! I loved them!"

"Did that hurt you dearly?"

"Yes, you unsensitive moro-"

"Was that the day you discovered your abilities?"

That last question effectively shut down her shouting. She looked at him, breathing heavily and she was completely dumbfounded "Wha-?"

Frankenstein smirked "I suspected as much. When we first met, you told me that your abilities we triggered by an external cause that made you react to it…or something like that" he waved his hand as if it wasn't important "The thing is that now, that I know more about this whole mess of your abilities, I begin to see the way those weird abilities came to be" 'Emotion'.

'Ohhh…' Now Takeo understood. Frankenstein did it like that because he wanted to extract quick and honest answers. So risky, but then, not surprising giving the fact that it was Frankenstein he was talking about. Combining both Tao's continuous asking and Bart's intensive challenging manner…

Talk about aggression in his methods. Again. Not surprising.

"What do you mean that you know more about my abilities?" asked Sara.

"Well, all in due time my dear. Besides, how can I show all my cards when you have shown only one?" at that he turned to Bart, looking him straight in the eye "Do you trust me?"

"Yes"

Clean and clear. With respect and finality. That was enough for Frankenstein to proceed. He was momentarily worried that maybe he would have trusted her too easily now that, apparently, she knew him from their Union days. How could they find a way to really trust her?

"So Sara, between your sudden appearance, your collision with my boys and your unexpected shared past with…" he had to control himself in order not to do the same mistake that he did with Haji "…Bart, I cannot help but to imagine that you have oh so many things you are keeping from us"

"Now, now Frankenstein…" she said as she was trying to get away from the scene "What makes you say that? And why are you so surprised anyway? Aren't you doing the same…scientist?"

The last word was said in a very accusing tone, like it was something similar to a crime. Tao remembered telling her about three days after she came to the house that they should have gone to Frankenstein's lab to maybe run some tests, since he himself was somewhat familiar with the machinery. She outright refused and the issue was never brought up again. He had guessed that once Frankenstein got back he would convince her to let him run some tests.

But now, from the looks of it, he guessed she might be a little too sensitive on the matter. Not that he could blame her. She was experimented on by the Union afterall. They all were sceptical at the beginning.

Frankenstein noticed that in her rage she had taken two steps forward that now she felt were too close to him and she was trying to move behind the sofa but her being between it and the coffee table was kind of difficult to do so without some notice.

"I never hid it, at least not deliberately. All you had to do was ask"

"I don't trust your kind Frankenstein. I have been through a lot from the kinds of you so you will forgive me if I don't want to be any closer to you"

Bart stepped forward "Sara, I know how you feel. We all feel that way for those people in the Union but I tell you right here, right now Frankenstein is of trust. In fact I trust my life to him any day"

Tao raised his hand cheerfully "Yep, me too"

Takeo nodded his head "You have nothing to worry Sara. We were all where you are now, but Frankenstein is like no other scientist I've met. He has the humanity that others lacked"

"Humanity? Have you met him?" she pointed at him "When that ominous energy surfaces, you can feel the murderous intent under your skin!"

At that point everyone understood that she was having another emotional crisis, but this time not out of anger but out of fear. She was looking at them like they were crazy and Frankenstein like he was the bane of existence itself.

Well, some people might have agreed with that characterization.

Takeo rose slowly "Tao and I have the same trace of energy that Frankenstein possesses. Have you felt perhaps that we two wanted to murder you?"

As he said that he let a little of that energy flow around and in him freely "He helped us Sara, in order to become stronger and fight off the Union for good"

She was looking shockingly at them both and was shaking her head "No, I won't let another crazy guy with grandiose idea about himself make me part of his personal project!"

She then kicked the coffee table really hard and it flew over to Frankenstein, who caught it without much effort. Tao, Takeo and Bart were getting ready to interfere but then Frankenstein raised his hand to halt them. He let the table down gently.

"You made your point clear, Sara. I suspect that passing too much time with scientists made you anticipate that any scientist would like to get their hands on you. True, I have thought of that, but I will not act on that without your consent or knowledge; ask the boys and they will confirm to you that even though I have trained them too hard and made them bleed, I never did anything on them without their permission and free will" he sighed then and added

"So I would appreciate if you didn't take it out on the furniture!" he finished with annoyance.

Sara was breathing heavily and remained speechless. She wanted to believe him so much, but…Suddenly she saw everyone look at her with a weird expression and then she felt it rolling down her mouth and chin. Blood. She touched it and saw what confirmed her suspicion.

"Oh, no…" she raised her head to them who were looking at her with the same look "Excuse me, I'll be right back" and with that she left for the bathroom hastily.

The rest looked at each other "What was that?!" asked Tao.

"I don't know, but you saw her didn't you? At first I thought that perhaps she couldn't control her emotions but now I see…She has control but also choses when to unleash her rage…Emotional connection must be the medium through which she connects… Still, it is a mystery…" Frankenstein left the coffee table down and sat on the couch previously occupied by Sara.

Bart doubted that Sara would let Frankenstein check on her. Stubborn woman.

"So boss…How was the trip? What news do you bring from Lukedonia? Did you get to see Regis and miss Seira-"

"Tao, one question at a time!" nudged Takeo.

"The place you were supposed to go to search for her was Lukedonia then. So, did you find anything?" asked Bart with a skeptical look. His posture was relaxed and his voice was steady.

Frankenstein smiled. They really had so many things they needed to catch up. Oh how he missed his home. He would also like to visit the school soon. But other things were to be done first.

"It's very late, almost 5am and you are going to need some sleep for the next day so I will be quick. You need to listen to me very carefully and not tell Sara anything until we can clear some things up with her first" And they listed. And he talked. And the sun was starting to rise. And both parties were still absorbing the new information.

Yes, it was taking longer than expected. Most likely though they had forgotten that, luckily, the day that was dawning was Saturday.

Lukedonia…At the Landegre mansion…

Gejuntel was looking at Frankenstein's note for the hundredth time. He knew that he was having a plan in his mind that wouldn't fully share with him.

The note was short. The handwriting neat as always. Exceptional even. The content though was of far greater importance. Insolent as Frankenstein was, he wrote it in a demanding tone and left no room for questioning. There were things that were easy to plan but difficult to execute and there were things that were difficult to even begin to plan. Three things he asked for. One regarding Nobles, one regarding Werewolves and one regarding…his Master. Really Gejuntel found it funny how in all this mess, he himself felt ready to move the strings yet again. If only his Lord he would do it again.

South Korea…06:30 in the morning…Frankenstein's house…

The four people occupying the living room were looking relatively composed but in reality they were in lack of words. So much information was shared in the past one hour and a half and all of them were staying silent for the last ten minutes.

What Frankenstein learned about the possible origin of Sara and what Sara revealed to the boys about being in the same project as Bart, at least at the beginning, were starting to put together the puzzle pieces one by one. But alas, there were still many left in order for them to have a clear picture.

What Frankenstein had said to Sara; everyone agreed on that, she was hiding many things more. On the other side Frankestein was afraid that maybe there was a possibility that Sara had tricked Bart into believing something that wasn't true, like the name she had given him. But how in the world do you tell that to the man who didn't know even his own name and identity? How could Frankenstein try and get Bart down to earth and put doubt in his mind when…he seemed so happy when he introduced himself in front of him, and if he was honest with himself – because he wasn't going to admit it in anybody else – he felt a warmth in his heart, that was now so rare…Did he really had the right to ruin it? 'It is so difficult to be a…'

"Frankenstein?"

He raised his eyes on Tao "What is it?"

"Do you think Sara is a bad person?" he asked with sincerity but also seriousness.

"I don't know. I only told you of what I found about her, which seem like a good explanation of her abilities but not of her character"

Takeo was standing up while Bart was citing on the couch while looking at the ceiling. He was like that pretty much for the last fifteen minutes.

Takeo sighed "Well then shall we recap of what we know up until now?"

"Sure I'll go first! You don't mind me taking notes, right?" Tao said as he was typing in his laptop

'When did he bring that in?' thought Takeo but it was a tiring night and he didn't have the energy to even say it out loud.

"Sooo….Sara was in the South Tribe of erm…well for lack of better term let's call them mix-bloods. And they were hunted back in the 1920's by the Union for experimentation. And apparently that's where you two met, Bart"

"Uh-huh" was Bart's only confirmation that he was still listening.

"And after some time of experimentation, your group decided to escape and by her saying it was a failure and many died in the process and she got to be a different project than y…Hey is no one listening to me?"

Bart still had his head in the same position "Tao, it's not like I'm deliberately not listening to you, it's just that since she was from that tribe…could it be that I am form it as well?"

They were all wondering the same thing but no one was going to address it just like that. Tao for example learned not to make assumptions about the flaming matter of M-21's – 'Arrrg I mean Bart! Dammit it's going to take me some time to get used to it' – name and in extension of his origins. Better leave that to the big boss.

"Did she ever mention that she knew you from before?" asked Takeo tactfully.

"No, I have been thinking of it and from her sayings, I assume that we met there…Still the tribe was taken by hundreds she said"

Frankenstein nodded "Yes, you could still had been one of them even if she didn't know you from before"

"Can you know for sure, by examining my blood?" he asked hopefully.

"No" answered the scientist with a little precaution in his voice "however the thing that we really should be focused on, right now, is her abilities. Regardless of her possible ancestry, we need to find a way to get her back on her feet and help her regain her strength. Don't forget our main goal here" he said as he was having the attention of all three of them. Takeo moved closer, Tao took his hands of the keyboard and raised his eyes and Bart lowered his head from the ceiling. They all understood. They all knew. They had to find sir Raizel.

A new determination was born into their souls and it showed in their eyes. Bartholomew knew that he would wait to get more answers from Sara in order to help her improve and aid them in finding the missing persons. He was actually good with that. He didn't mind. He had enough for now. Besides it looked like Sara barely wanted to talk to them right now anyway.

"Wait, where did Sara go?"

Territory of werewolves…

If someone had told him, a few years back that he would be doing this right now, Kentas would had punched them. Hard. In the face. Twice. And yet here he was, semi-leading the remaining werewolves, solving their differences and be driven nuts by their insecurity about the future.

Really, who would have thought that the great and mighty werewolves were having so many doubts and insecurities? 'Hn, maybe it's the fact that half of them are modified ones. They now feel the burden of their actions' he thought as the latest meeting had come to an end. Thankfully his friend and loyal comrade Lunark was keeping some things and some werewolves at bay.

Today the theme was the supplies, the training and the education of young pups. That last one was Kentas' idea. He thought that knowing more about the world, and the good and the bad that also comes with it, had to be more thorough. They had to strengthen their bodies but also their minds and critical thought. But, that was going to be a whole new challenge… Oh well, his father used to say that of you wanted to see a man's determination, put him up to a challenge. The way of going through it or even the way of denying it can tell a lot about the person.

As the meeting ended without much fighting – well that was a pleasant surprise for once – Kentas couldn't wait to go somewhere nice and quiet to meditate. He seemed to do that a lot lately.

"So that went well" Lunark said with a sigh "It looks to me that you keep getting better and better at this"

"Oh please, spare me. The only reason they accept it for now is their guilt and the fact that they are afraid of us two united"

Lunak tilted her head as she was watching him. Kentas was still refusing to sit on the throne "Well, hasn't it been like that since forever? Our kind chooses the strongest and most fearless werewolf as a leader"

Kentas tried to surpass a laugh "Huh…I doubt that I fit the description, but I am not complaining, things are starting to look up for our tribe"

At that they both sensed a presence. Lunark had already been in fighting stance and had already transformed. Kentas thought it wiser to wait but he too was more alarmed.

With what had happened this last year, who could blame them?

The new presence didn't take long to appear. And lo and behold the young Landegre leader was slowly walking to them. 'So it wasn't accidental that we felt the presence. Someone like him could have concealed himself, meaning he was preparing us for his arrival' Kentas reasoned and relaxed but only a little bit.

"Lunark" one word was enough for her to understand and abandon her transformed state.

Regis was not impressed. He was anticipating such kind of reaction. He was, in some way glad they were prepared for the worst.

"Greetings Lunark and Kentas of the werewolves, I come in peace" said the young Noble with elegance and a calming voice "I come by the command of Gejuntel K. Landegre, to bring news that he deemed important for you to know"

"Regis K. Landegre" said Kentas greeted with formality "What brings you here? You coming here would mean that there is something important that happened" he didn't want to sound hopeful, but he certainly was wishing for some good news.

Regis looked at both of them "We came in contact with Frankenstein" he then moved a little closer "He didn't mention anything specific regarding his search but we know that he hasn't stopped. He actually came to Lukedonia to find some information regarding a recent finding of his and thus after he did he left some…directions one would call them I suppose. One of them was contacting you. I wouldn't know the details though"

Lunark thought that typical of Frankestein. Always telling others what to do as he supposedly knew better. Still, it was typical of him to never stop until achieving his goal. If there was someone that could find answers regarding Muzaka and what happened to him, it would be Frankenstein.

Regis gave Kentas an envelope "This is a letter from sir Gejuntel K. Landegre which contains some more details and a request to either of you visiting Lukedonia to discuss some matters more thoroughly"

Kentas accepted the letter "I see. Well the situation here is a little bit shaky still but, we will see what we can do. Regardless give sir Gejuntel my regards"

"I will do so" he bowed respectively "Now if you excuse me I believe my time here is due"

"Wait" said Kentas "Forgive but, aren't you friends with M-21? Any news on him?"

Regis let himself show emotion only for a dear second "Not per se but Frankenstein informed us that everyone back…in South Korea are safe"

"I see, well that is good to know" he smirked 'Of course that guy would be alright. He is one tough man'

"I bid you well Kentas, Lunark"

"Have a safe trip home" wished Lunark.

And he was gone from their eyes. Kentas looked at the letter "Well, now I'm curious"

"Uh-huh" was the indifferent answer he got.

"What? Aren't you?"

"Curious to see what Frankestein directs others to do? No, not really"

"Cut the crap, you know it doesn't work on me. I know that you secretly want to know…" he said suggestively looking at her becoming more uncomfortable by the second.

"Humph!" she turned around and left.

"I will tell you what it says later!" he yelled behind her.

"I don't really care!" she screamed with her back on him.

"Sure you don't!" he smiled when she sped up. It was good to tease each other once in a while. He missed that kind of interaction.

To be continued...

Noticed that this site cannot let me write some users name properly in order to thank them for their kind review or their fav+follow my story. So sorry to "laomeixiao" for not having her name properly written at the end note of the previous chapter. I tried twice and couldn't do it.
