Chapter 27: The Lunar Questions of the Fort
The Toonateers arrive at a Chinese Garden to see at a distance; the Fort Wasteland is in battle with another fort that looks like the Emperor of China's Palace in the movie Mulan 1998.
"Hey, that's new," Mickey commented.
"Oh, yeah. We thought the Pirates would like to do fun battles. So, we decide to make another fort for their excitement," said Oswald.
"Well, it doesn't like fun-friendly in my eyes."
"Mickey, Oswald, and Ortensia, you here," said Mr. Smee.
"Mr. Smee, what are you doing here?" Ortensia asks.
"The Pirates and I were about to have another fun battle, but the BlotToons captured the Palace. And I think I saw a Chinese woman there, but she looked trapped."
After gasping, the three Toonateers said, "Mulan!"
"Mr. Smee, we need to get in there. There's a Disney Princess in there that needs rescuing," said Gus.
He then responds, "Alright then. The boys could unleash some Chinese New Year's Floats that we borrowed from the Floatyard, which might distract them so you can sneak inside. I remember a secret entrance at the Palace somewhere on the East side."
"Aw, but I want to join in the fight," Turpley said.
"Turpley," said Tintley, angry.
"Alright. You're lucky that your anger is scary, Tintley."
"Great! Release the floats, boys!"
Every kind of Disney Chinese New Year's Floats came out from the Fort and fired Thinner Cannons at the Palace.
"If I remember, there's a huge peach blossom tree nearby. They always leave a path of their petals in the water. They might help us get to the secret entrance," said Gus.
"Here they come now," said Tintley, seeing the giant peach blossom petals flowing by.
"Let's hop to it like rabbits," said Oswald, going ahead with Gus flying close.
"I hope I have some hopping skills like you, Ozzie-san," said Mickey as Tintley and Turpley flew near him.
"I'm right there with you, boys," said Ortensia, going after them.
"Good luck, Toonateers," said Mr. Smee.
At the Palace, BlotToon Mickey is watching the battle at the top of the Palace. BlotToon Oswald is drawing himself, BlotToon Ortensia, and some BlotToon versions of the Bunny Children in crayons on a notepad. BlotToon Ortensia is fanning herself with her green fan. She stopped to see BlotToon Oswald's drawing and was blushing.
"It's not far! How dare they say BlotToons can be reproduced," BlotToon Oswald said.
"Did you forget our plan that involves backstabbing the Petes?" BlotToon Mickey questioned.
"I haven't. I am Oswald's BlotToon Counterpart. Aren't I to have children?"
"I guess so."
"But BOswald, you saw how many Bunny Children he got. I heard he has 420," BlotToon Ortensia said, feeling nervous.
"But can we at least try, BOrtensia?"
"You're making an excuse to have children, are you?"
"Don't you want babies, Bortensia?"
"Well…Maybe."
"Can we at least try?"
"Wha-?!"
"Will you two focus?! We got a plan to concoct. Those Loserteers can't be that far," said BlotToon Mickey, getting in between them.
"And right on cue. I see them on the peach blossom petals within the waters," said BlotToon Oswald, looking through binoculars.
"Hmm. Since my stomach was gurgling with that present Mickey made for Oswald, I got an idea. It will also involve the stowaway we discovered in our ice cream cone cannons."
BlotToon Mickey spits up the present before smirking before BlotToon Oswald says, "How long are you going to keep that present?"
"I love to annoy and anger my counterpart. It's funny."
Back with the Toonateers, they reached the peach blossom tree close to the Palace.
"Okay, we're at the tree. But where is the secret entrance?" Turpley said.
"Maybe the Guardians can lead the way," said Gus.
"I got this, Gus," said Tintley before whistling to call the Tint Guardians.
The Guardians fly over to the branch close to the roots before shaping into an arrow to point at it.
"So, is it a lever?" Mickey asks before pulling the branch down.
With it pulled down, it revealed a secret passage while its door went up.
"Alright, now we're getting somewhere," said Oswald as they entered the passage.
But, reaching the end, the place is covered in darkness for their eyes only to be shown.
"This looks unanimous. We need to be careful, everyone," said Ortensia.
When the lights came on, BlotToons Oswald and Ortensia appeared before them on a stage while wearing their counterparts' Chinese Lunar Year outfits from Disneyland Resort from Jan 20, 2023, through Feb 15, 2023. They come on stage by doing four backflips. BlotToon Mickey appears in between them in a puff of smoke while wearing a red Longpao like during the Song and Ming Dynasties. He's holding a Bunny Child in his arms who is asleep.
"Hey! Isn't that Oswald Jr. the 101st? Let go of my baby girl!" said Oswald.
"Shhh. The baby is sleeping. We found her wandering around here," said BlotToon Oswald, poking his finger against the child's face.
"Oh, she does love fort battles. A total scamp."
"Ladies and GentleToons! Welcome to the Lunar Year Quiz Show! 欢迎来到农历新年问答比赛! (Huānyíng láidào nónglì xīnnián wèndá bǐsài!) I'm your host, BlotToon Mickey. Ha-ha! Along with my charming and lovely attendants: BlotToons Oswald and Ortensia," said BlotToon Mickey before an audience BlotToons shows up in the balconies to cheer.
"A game show?" Turpley confused.
"You got to give credit to their taste in culture and style," said Tintley.
"But the Chines Lunar New Year already passed like nine months ago," said Mickey.
"Today is a special episode, folks. These luck constants to answer 3. Yes, three questions to pick the three prizes," said BlotToon Mickey, petting the Bunny Child.
BlotToon Oswald pushes his remote to show three pedestals: one with Mickey's Birthday Present for Oswald, another with a strange button labeled B.O.T.H., and the last with an empty cage.
"Oh, look at these prizes. Different from last time, indeed. Which one will the six Lucky contestants pick?" BlotToon Ortensia said, opening her green fan.
"Yes, that is the question for the result. Will they pick that special mystery present, press the BOTH Button or the freedom of Oswald Jr. the 101st," said BlotToon Oswald, as BlotToon Mickey placed the child in the cage and closed it.
The Toonateers gasped before Gus yelled, "You sneaky scoundrels! Putting Oswald and Ortensia's child on the line like this!"
"Alright, everybody. It's time for our first question," said BlotToon Mickey.
"第一个问题! (Dìyī gè wèntí!)" said BlotToon Oswald, clapping his hands twice for a monitor to show up.
"我们开始吧! (Wǒmen kāishǐ bā!)" BlotToon Ortensia added.
Then BlotToon Mickey said, "Question 1: What Type of New Lunar Year is it? A: Tiger, B: Rabbit, or C: Dragon."
"Rabbit!" said Oswald quickly.
"Uh…That's correct!"
"正确! (Zhèngquè!)" BlotToon Ortensia added.
"Next question! 问题二! (Wèntí èr!)" BlotToon Oswald said before the 2nd question showed up on the monitor.
Then BlotToon Mickey said, "Question 2: Which place did the rabbit come in during the Great Race? A: 4th, B: 1st, or C: 7."
"Is it fourth place?" Ortensia answered.
"Correct again."
"最后一个问题! (Zuìhòu yī gè wèntí!" BlotToons Oswald and Ortensia said while holding hands.
"Here's your last question. If you get it right, you can pick one of three prizes."
"I highly recommend you pick the present. I don't mind us raising the Bunny Child as our own," said BlotToon Oswald, which angers Oswald and Ortensia.
"Alright. What is the purpose of the Chinese New Lunar Year?"
"Oh, that's a toughie," Gus commented.
"I don't even know what is Chinese New Lunar Year is," said Tintley.
"Well, barely have some of our memories," said Turpley.
Then Mickey said, "It's about family and friends coming together to celebrate a better and brighter year while honoring their ancestors and praying for better luck."
BlotToon Mickey thought but said, "You got that one right."
As the audience cheered, BlotToon Oswald said, "And since you answered every question right, you got a prize."
"Now pick which. The present, press the BOTH Button or the Bunny Child's freedom. Go on and take your time," said BlotToon Ortensia, presenting the "prizes".
Mickey is soon sweaty in confusion about choosing which "prize" while saying, "Uh…Um…I would…pick…Uh…"
"Oh, dear. The leader of Toonateers is having trouble. Allow us to help you choose a card game."
BlotToon Mickey takes out a deck of cards while doing some card tricks and saying, "That's right. Pick a card! Any card! Remember: cards with Aces, 4s, 7s, and 10s mean you got the first prize. The 2s, 5s, 8s, and Jokers mean you'll have prize two. The 3s, 6s, 9s, and Queens will let you have the last prize. And the Kings means you'll have to go again."
BlotToon Mickey then shows the covered cards to Mickey. Mickey becomes hesitant to choose. Oswald and Ortensia are chewing their nails in worry. Gremlin Gus is hyperventilating in a bag. Tintley and Turpley were hugging each other while they were concerned. Slowly, Mickey takes a card, and it shows a 2 on it.
"And our Toonateers got Prize 2! Allow me to press it for you."
BlotToon Mickey presses for a cage to drop down on the Toonateers. The sound of the cage dropping caused Oswald Jr., the 101st, to wake up.
"Wha-? What is this?!" said Turpley.
All BlotToons laughed while BlotToon Oswald said, "Did you really think that the BOTH Button meant you would get both the present and the Bunny Child?"
"Not really. I assumed the button was for a trap, but it was surprisingly cage. I expected us to fall into a pit or be tied in rope."
"I told you they would figure it out, you idiots," said BlotToon Ortensia, shoving BlotToons Mickey and Oswald in annoyance.
"Hey! I would never say that in front of my child," said Ortensia.
"Idiot! Idiot! Idiot!" Oswald Jr., the 101st, said happily.
Ortensia, Gus, and Tintley were shocked, while Mickey, Oswald, and Turpley laughed their heads off.
"Oh, look. You corrupted the child, BOrtensia. Great job," said BlotToon Oswald.
"Anyway, up you go!" BlotToon Mickey said before pushing the button again.
The caged Toonateers went up while the audience cheered and clapped.
"Alright, folks. See you next time on the MatchMaker Amethyst Channel after this commercial break," BlotToon Mickey winked.
