Episode 139: Blood and flames
The night was calm, the starlight touched the treetops gently, the wind blew peacefully through the homes of the village. The Maniacs and the Loonatics were in a deep sleep, Ace breathed calmly as he dreamed, with his right hand touching the floor, a sudden and strenuous noise woke him and his comrades abruptly, along with the intermittent lights that entered through the windows. "What the hell?!" Tech got onto his feet and rushed towards the door, opening it right away. His eyes widened when seeing the jet firing missiles at the village, the loud screams were present already.
Ace had put on his bodysuit with quickness, over his new white clothes. Tech and Slam were already wearing their bodysuits. Ely, the Maniacs and the rest of the Loonatics exited their rooms. Tech and Slam got out of the house in a rush. Ace glared at Ely and his team. "Rev, take her to a safe place."
"Right." Rev approached Ely, placing his hands on her shoulders. "With your permission ma'am." He left with Ely in a rush, leaving his red trace behind.
"Maniacs, do the same with the villagers. Get them all out of here." Ace commanded.
"Sure." Vale gestured at the open door then he and the rest of the Maniacs exited the house.
"Come on." Ace told Lexi and Duck. "Whatev…" Suddenly, a missile destroyed the house, the rooftop fell over them.
"Ace!" Lexi screamed with pain and worry. "A…Ace! Duck!" She tried to move between the pieces of debris that covered her. She felt a hand grasping hers, then she appeared outside of the house, laying down before Duck.
"Sis you okay?" Duck asked while helping her stand up.
Lexi coughed then groaned while rubbing her arm, with bleeding scratches exposed as the accident had tore down some parts of her bodysuit on that area, as well as on her thigh. "Yes, just some…" She let out another groan of pain. "…scratches."
Ace let out a scream of vigor and rage while managing to get the huge pieces of debris off him. There was a large scratch on his suit in the ribs area, exposing his bleeding wound. There were several scratches on his back and legs too, as well as on his arms, bleeding as well. His cheek also had a deep scratch. Ace glared at the burning surroundings, the people screaming and running with terror. He wielded his sword and made all the blades come out. "Follow me."
Tech and Slam flew with their jetpacks towards the jet, which had been crashed over several homes. "This has Alfons' name all ov…" The jet exploded, not letting Tech finish the sentence, destroying all the homes around it and killing several people instantly. Tech frowned while clenching his fists, then saw Ace, Lexi and Duck rushing towards the situation.
"Alfons!" Ace exclaimed while looking around.
"Ace!" Kufai approached him, rubbing his wounded arm, breathing rapidly, groaning and gasping by the pain, the bone and muscle of his arm were exposed, he trembled while trying to bear the pain.
"Hey, we'll take care of this." Ace gestured away. "Go see Zaji."
"She's dead." Kufai looked at Ace with eyes of sorrow. "Ac..Ace…don't forg…" He fell to the ground abruptly.
"No, hey…" Ace crouched before him. "Doc!" He looked around, seeing Tech already approaching him in a rush.
Tech knelt down next to Kufai, putting his ear on his chest, letting out a sigh of relief. "He will make it, just let m…"
Ace placed a hand on his shoulder. "He's your top priority, do everything you can to save him. Please."
Tech nodded at him. "Of course." He stood up while carrying Kufai on his arms, activating his jetpack and flying away quickly.
"All this time..!" Alfons was standing on the edge of a rocky mound over the flames. Ace and the rest glared at him while adopting battle positions. "You were in my thoughts, Loonatics." He swung his sword a couple of times. "We have unfinished business to attend." Alfons chuckled. "Your heads will look great on my wall." He jumped from the mound and landed on the ground, with his glare focused on Ace. Ace frowned at Alfons and started to rush towards him, followed by Lexi, Duck and Slam. When approaching each other, the swords of Ace and Alfons clashed strongly.
On the meantime, Edison and Akinyi were lifting a huge wall that had trapped several villagers under the debris. They managed to get the wall off them, and they started to come out one by one, with words and glares of gratefulness. There were many kids among those villagers, a lump formed in Edison's throat as he took their hands in order to help them get out more easily.
Randy rushed throughout the entire village with his super speed, helping everyone he encountered on his way by taking them to safer spots.
Vale was leading a group of men he had rescued, they approached every single mound of debris to look for their people. "Be careful while moving the rubble, we don't want more tragedies."
Rev was accompanying Ely in a place far enough from the disturbance. "Rev, I'll be fine here. You have to help your friends."
He shook his head. "I won't leave you Ace told me to…"
"Take me to safety." Ely approached him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "You've done that already, please, they need you there."
Rev hesitated for a moment, looking over his shoulder briefly. He then gazed at Ely, nodding at her. "Alright just stay here okay?"
Slam punched Alfons strongly, making him fly all the way towards a rocky wall, Alfons smashed against it and let out a scream of pain, falling to the ground. He got onto his feet quickly. Slam let out a loud, beastly roar.
"You're not so strong without your army, huh?" Lexi landed before him then deactivated her jetpack and threw a punch at his snout.
Alfons growled and with a quick swing, he made a deep cut on Lexi's side, she screamed by the pain then Alfons raised his sword, Ace flew towards him with his jetpack and right before he could attack Lexi again, he kicked his face with both feet, the momentum brought by Ace's flight made Alfons fall from the edge of a cliff, hitting several rocks until falling to the ground.
Ace turned and began to rush towards his girlfriend. "Lexi!"
Lexi groaned while Slam helped her stand on her feet. "I'll be okay, go!"
Ace looked at Slam and gestured away. He activated his jetpack and flew towards Alfons' whereabouts.
Duck was about to follow him, but then his eyes widened as a great worry and anguish invaded him. "Jay." Duck teleported away from the place.
Lexi groaned. "Shoot." She rubbed her wounded side.
Slam growled, telling Lexi she needed to be attended by Tech. He carried her on his arms and activated his jetpack, flying away.
Ace landed on the rocky ground, deactivating his jetpack while wielding his sword with caution, taking silent steps. His ear twitched then he immediately turned and blocked an attack from Alfons' blade, looking into his eyes with fury. "A fair fight, at last." Alfons said and swung his sword rightwards, uncovering Ace, who threw a kick at his thigh, making him gasp, Ace then jumped and kicked his face, making him back away while groaning, then he threw a flying kick at him but Alfons blocked it with his arm, then he started to swing his sword with rage, Ace blocked the attacks while moving backwards.
"Jay!" Duck exclaimed while walking over the debris, approaching Jay's home. "Come on…" The house was completely destroyed. He teleported there and began to threw pieces of rubble away. "Please…"
Tech was kneeling down next to a river, using the water to clean Kufai's wounded arm. "I know this isn't particularly hygienic, but it's all we've got your highness."
Slam landed right next to him, Tech looked up at him and saw Lexi's state. He sighed and began to wrap Kufai's arm with the bandages he had improvised with the lion's shirt. "Lay her down, I'm almost done with the king."
"Take your time." Lexi groaned while Slam laid her over the grass.
