Loonatics: United
The Wrath of Tenebrous
Episode 140: The fall
"Jay!" Duck kept throwing pieces of debris away, his increasing anxiousness was leaving him out of breath, he groaned while carrying a huge piece of concrete and wood, then he threw it away, he gasped when seeing Jay's little arm coming out of the debris. He approached it and moved the heavy debris away from him quickly, even if he had almost no strength left. After managing to uncover Jay completely, he carried him on his arms with gentleness, bringing the kid close to him. "Hey, buddy I'm here." A tear ran down his face as he smiled and caressed Jay's bruised face. "Buddy." He patted his cheek softly. "Wake up, I'll get you out of here." Duck kept looking at him while his gaze became more sorrowful. "Jay." He said with a broken voice, he closed his eyes and put his ear on the kid's chest. "Jay…" Duck started to cry bitterly while hugging his corpse strongly. "…Jay." His sorrows lasted long as he held his friend close. "Thanks..." He sobbed. "...for everything, buddy." Duck kissed his forehead.
The swords kept clashing against each other, Ace's frown was focused on Alfons' rageful glare. The flames had reached the cliff where they were battling, the bushes and the trees burned as the warriors screamed and swung with vigor. "I'm gonna kill everyone you love, Ace, your family, your girl…I remember how much fun I had with her last time…" Ace screamed with rage while swinging his sword multiple times, all of his attacks got blocked by Alfons, who chuckled at his failed attempts. "You don't deserve to wield that sword, kid." Alfons kicked his thigh strongly, making him groan and back away, Alfons then pierced his shoulder, the sword went through his flesh completely.
"Argh!" Ace cried out, Alfons got the sword out of his shoulder then kicked his face, making it bleed, Ace felt strongly over the ground, his face hit right on the dry dirt, which mixed with the blood that came from his mouth as he coughed and groaned. He breathed in and out rapidly, starting to get back onto his feet. "H.."
Alfons kicked his snout, making him fall over the ground again, tears ran down Ace's face as he struggled to get up again. "It's useless, bunny." Alfons stepped on his face, pressing slowly. "I won."
"H…" Ace coughed, looking at the stars of the night on the corner of his eye. "Help…"
"No one's going to save you now." Alfons raised his sword. "See you in hell, Ace Bunny."
Ace let out a vigorous scream and with a precise swing, using all of his strength, he cut off Alfons' arm as soon as it was near enough. The arm fell to the ground along with the sword. Alfons screamed by the pain as he bled out, he fell to the ground while screaming. Ace frowned as he was on his knees then he got onto his feet with great effort and with erratic steps he approached Alfons and raised his sword. Ace yelled with rage and swung his sword towards Alfons' neck, stopping right when the tip of the Guardian Strike Sword rubbed the gray furred area. Ace's frown disappeared gradually, he moved the blade away from him and dropped the sword, turning and taking a few steps before standing still, covering his wounded shoulder as he breathed deeply.
Duck was standing at the edge of a mound, clenching his fists while looking at the scene, he frowned and teleported to the place, appearing between Ace and Alfons. Ace looked over his shoulder and his eyes widened as he saw Duck taking the Guardian Strike Sword. "No, Duck!" He turned rapidly and rushed towards him.
Duck approached Alfons and with a quick, violent swing, accompanied by a rageful scream full of hate, he beheaded Alfons, his head rolled and fell from the cliff. The blood exited the corpse's neck rapidly, forming a pond in a matter of seconds. The blades of the Guardian Strike Sword were stained with Alfons' blood, the red drops fell continuously to the ground. Ace switched his gaze from the body to Duck's eyes, which were locked on the headless corpse. After a few seconds, Duck looked directly into Ace's eyes, dropping the sword. "He deserved it." His voice was broken, a tear escaped from his eye. Ace was speechless, looking at Duck with a face of concern. Duck just walked away, leaving Ace alone.
Ace kept looking at the body for a moment, then he kneeled down and lowered down his gaze, closing his eyes and making the signal Kufai had taught him. He looked into the sky briefly and then stood up, groaning and covering his wounded shoulder.
Tech had finished attending Lexi and Kufai. He was helping Lexi stand on her feet. "Help me with the king, big guy."
Slam growled and nodded then carried Kufai carefully.
Edison, Akinyi, Vale and Randy were sitting among some of the people they had rescued, who were letting out words of praise and gratefulness. Edison smirked while glaring down, Akinyi put her hand on his thigh. They looked into each other's eyes while sharing looks of hope and bravery.
Randy was looking at them, sighing with disappointment while crossing his arms. Vale was sitting next to him, noticing his emotions, he placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, cheer up man. I've seen the way she looks at you."
Randy looked at him, raising an eyebrow. "How?"
"Oh you know." Vale winked.
"Really?" Randy looked at them again. "But they seem so close now."
"Maybe it's just a phase, buddy." Vale patted his back. "I tell ya, getting girls is not an easy task, it's always uphill."
Randy sighed. "And that you say it."
"Have you told her what you feel?" Vale inquired.
"Are you crazy? Of course not." Randy replied.
"Oh well, maybe it's about time. You know, before it's too late." Vale said.
Randy's gaze was locked on her. After a few moments, he nodded with conviction. "You're right."
"Like always, man." Vale chuckled. "Let's go see if we can find more villagers, come on." He got onto his feet followed by Randy.
Ace was flying with his jetpack, slowly and carefully as his wounded shoulder prevented him from maneuvering correctly, he saw Tech, Slam and Lexi walking between the destroyed, burning structures. He flew down towards them and deactivated his jetpack, groaning while approaching them. "It's over." Ace gasped while rubbing his shoulder, trembling.
"Baby, yo…" Lexi got interrupted.
"I'm fine." Ace said.
"Where is he?" Tech inquired.
Ace delayed a bit to answer. "He's dead."
Duck put the last stone over Jay's body. He stood next to it, glaring down, with his gaze locked on the pile of rocks that covered his dead friend. After several minutes, he walked away.
