Loonatics: United

The Wrath of Tenebrous

Episode 141: Farewell, Apilex

Kufai began to open his eyes, his sight became clear in brief, seeing the orangey ceiling of the tent he was in, the sunlight went through its cloth dimly. He was laying his head on an improvised pillow, made with pieces of cloth, Kufai groaned and then rubbed his hurting arm, gasping as he began to raise his back from the cloths under him, then he got onto his feet effortfully and finally walked out of the tent.

The Loonatics and the Maniacs had split in groups of two, they were all helping the villagers rebuild their homes and making tents for them to sleep provisionally, using scraps from the surrounding debris as well as wood, rocks and other natural materials. Ace had grouped with Tech, who was moving metallic scraps with his magnetic powers and shaping them to make structures, while Ace reinforced their joints by soldering them with his laser vision. "Ace." Kufai approached them.

Ace stopped using his laser vision and looked over his shoulder, smiling when seeing him. "Kufai!" He walked towards him and embraced him.

"Gah!" Kufai groaned.

"Oh…" Ace let go off him rapidly. "So sorry, I forgot."

"It's okay, Bunny." Kufai chuckled then glared into his eyes deeply. "So…you won, I suppose."

"You suppose well…your highness." Ace smirked.

"Oh." Kufai placed a hand on his shoulder. "And what happened to him?"

Ace looked down. "He…he died."

Kufai looked at him with intrigue and concern. "How?"

Ace glared down, giving some thought to his response. "Not by my hand." He looked at Kufai again, keeping a straight face.

Kufai kept his gaze locked on his, then he looked away and nodded slightly. "Alright."

Ace stood silent for a moment. "We'll help you rebuild before we leave." He looked around with great shame. "This is our fault."

"No." Kufai shook his head. "An evil man did this, a lost soul. You never wanted this to happen."

"It's the least we can do." Ace insisted.

Kufai thought for a moment while glaring at his surroundings, seeing Ace's comrades aiding his people. He sighed and glared at Ace again, nodding with gratefulness. "Thanks."

"Thank you, Kufai." Ace smirked at him. "You made made a new man."

Kufai smiled back at him. "It wasn't me."

The Loonatics and the Maniacs stayed three more weeks on Apilex, and the time to leave finally came. The transporter was ready to go. Kufai and his people were saying goodbye to the ten heroes as the sunset painted the sky orange. Ace and Kufai shook hands. "We'll see each other again, Ace." Kufai said.

"I really hope so." Ace smirked.

Kufai placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm sure about it." He nodded at him with a smile. "Have a good trip, and may God be with you." Kufai made the signal on Ace, who smiled and did the same on Kufai.

Ace turned and walked towards the ship's entrance, followed by his comrades, then they all entered the transporter. Tech was in the cockpit, glancing at the forest. He took a moment to admire the beauty of the landscape one last time and then let out a sigh, activating all the systems and making the ship hover, he then accelerated and the ship flew away from the village, getting lost between the clouds as Kufai and the villagers glared with hope and nostalgia.

Duck was standing before the window of the cockpit, looking at the fading mountains, seeing how the ship entered outer space. "Guys, uhm, do you want some coffee? Ed is making some." Rev said as he entered.

"Maybe later, man." Tech replied.

"Okay. You, Duck?" Rev inquired.

"No." Duck said coldly.

"Oh…alright, uhm…but, you okay?" Rev inquired. "You have been very silent sinc..."

"Yes." Duck replied. "I'm perfectly fine." He looked at Rev with a look of warning.

Rev raised an eyebrow "Oh...cool." He just walked away with concern. Duck returned his gaze to the window.

Ace was laying on the bed of his room, looking at the ceiling, with both hands behind his neck. His ear twitched when someone knocked. "Come in."

Lexi entered the room. "Hey. Gonna take a nap?"

Ace sighed. "Yeah, I'm exhausted." He laid on his side while glaring at her. "Wanna join?"

Lexi chuckled. "Maybe later, I'm gonna eat something first." She approached the bed and sat down on the edge, placing her hand on Ace's cheek. "How are you?"

"I'm fine." Ace took her hand and kissed it tenderly." You?"

"Same." Lexi said with a smile. "Another successful mission."

"Yeah." Ace looked down while rubbing her hand. "Heading home finally."

"Mhm." Lexi leaned towards him and kissed his forehead.

Rev took a sip from his coffee. "Not bad, Ed."

Edison chuckled briefly. "It's just coffee, man."

"So, you gonna go back with your boss now that this…team up is over?" Rev inquired.

"I guess, yeah." Vale said.

Edison took a sip from his coffee. "Some things will have to change, though."

"Huh?" Vale raised an eyebrow.

"You'll see." Edison replied.

Akinyi grasped his arm gently. "I like that serious look of yours, let's hope the boss likes it too."

"What are you gonna tell him?" Randy asked.

"You will see, amigo." Edison smirked while taking another sip.

"Hey, I'm the only one authorized to call him that way." Akinyi looked at Randy and winked at him, Randy just smiled at her.

Edison chuckled. "As you wish."

Slam burped and put his coffee mug on the bar, then walked away from them and entered his room.

"You're welcome." Edison said.

Rev chuckled. "You can take that burp as a compliment if you want." His comment made them chuckle along him.
