Chapter 43: Singing through the Maze
The Toonateers were puzzled about where they were while coming out of the Projector.
"Hey, this isn't the Tomorrow Square. Well, not as I remember," said Mickey.
"I can smell some Lagoon goop. We must be at Great Big Tomorrow," said Gus, holding his nose and waving his hand.
"We not even close to the gate," said Oswald as Ortensia looked down.
"We're not even on the ground," said Ortensia with a firm face.
They all looked down before they fell. Each member fell into a tube slide. Tintley and Turpley landed at the gate. Mickey finds himself in the Southeast of a holographic maze combined with scenery and items of Plutopia. Oswald landed at the Northwest of the labyrinth with the surroundings of Notilus Square. Ortensia is located at the Northeast of the maze filled with anything from Tomorrow City Lagoon. Gus came into a control panel of the maze's Southwest.
"Oh my. We have been separated," Gus said before taking out a walkie-talkie.
He talks into it and says, "Toonateers. Calling all Toonateers. This is Gremlin Gus calling. Do you read me?"
Mickey takes out his Paintbrush to paint his phone in his hands, Oswald looks at his Remote, and Ortensia shapes her hand into a 1990s flop phone.
They all answered when Gus said, "Mickey, Oswald, and Ortensia, I think the Great Big Tomorrow turned into a holographic maze filled with laser beams and other traps. I think I landed at the main control of it all."
"How can that be? I didn't order this to be made," Oswald said.
"Those Dictating BlotToons! They got too behind this. Has anyone seen where Tintley and Turpley are at?" Mickey said.
"They are at the gate. I'll try to find a way for all of us to get there," said Gus.
"Alright, Gus. But what should we do while we wait?" Ortensia asks.
"I don't know. Maybe try and get there."
"It's now or never, Toonateers. Over and out," said Mickey, ending the call.
"Maybe I should pass the time singing. Eh, it's irresistible since it's a Disney thing."
As Mickey walks around his area, the song Brother My Brother from Bleessid Union of Souls starts to play.
Oswald soon hears the music from where he is and says, "Say, that sounds nice. I guess I'll join along as I look around."
Oswald: Brother, my brother [Oswald holds his hands together as sang and walks.]
Mickey: Tell me what are we fighting for [Mickey dodges the side saws by using the Time Sketch.]
Oswald: We've got to end this war [Ortensia turns her hands into pick-axes to climb up a wall.]
Mickey: We should love one another [Gus is looking through the controls and begin to tinker with his wrench.]
Oh, can't we just pretend [Tintley and Turpley sat where they are as they act upset.]
Oswald: This war never began [Memories flood their brains as they try to hold back their tears.]
Mickey: You can try [Mickey hops up a stairway to open the door to a house.]
Mickey and Oswald: Brother, my brother [Oswald uses his remote to reprogram and activate Notilus.]
(Mickey: Yeah) [Mickey walks into the house to see Epic Mickey's 1st game memory frames.]
Mickey: We face each other from different sides [He at when he entered Yen Sid's workshop.]
Oswald: The anger burns can't remember why [He saddens upon seeing him spilling the Jug and creating the Blot.]
It's kind of crazy to cause so much pain [He goes to one with Walt and Oswald statue and begins to paint on it for a statue of himself to hold Walt's other hand.]
Our foolish pride makes us hate this way [He goes to another frame with him giving up his Heart for Oswald and Gus.]
Oswald: We watch our world fall apart [Oswald rides on Notilus through a Thinner River across his area.]
Mickey: Tell me what good is winning [Mickey touches the frame for the moment.]
When you lose your heart [He then places his hand on his heart to feel its beating.]
Mickey and Oswald: Brother, my brother [Ortensia reaches the top of the wall to see lasers, flying beartraps, Blot Collar Toy Robots, and Blot splotch SECUR-Ts.]
Oswald: Tell me what are we fighting for [She whistles before cracking her neck.]
Mickey and Oswald: Isn't life worth so much more [She cracks her fists twice and then hops down to continue her journey.]
We should love one another [Tintley and Turpley see themselves at the Heart of Wasteland while on the floor like mourning wrecks.]
Mickey: Oh, can't we just pretend [They are surrounded by stones and bony statues of the Ang-Tint and the Devi-Turp Tribes.]
This war never began [With their eyes swollen from tears, they looked up in agony.]
Mickey and Oswald: Tell me why [They got up to rush over to two pools of Paint and Thinner.]
Brother, my brother [They quickly take out everything from the lab and experiment with a way to bring back their Tribes.]
Oswald: Yes [But as they get to work, the Thinner Disaster ends for the Blot Wars to begin behind the scenes.]
Mickey and Oswald: We can try [They turned to Toon Heart Orb to look at what is happening.]
Brother, my brother [But they were blinded to bring their people back that they went back to work.]
Mickey: Yes [In reality, they start to suck on their thumbs while in a fetal position.]
Mickey and Oswald: Let's take a moment and look deep inside [Oswald rides Notilus through Thinner River to see murals of his adventure during Epic Mickey 2.]
Mickey: And say we're willing to give love a try [He looks at when he and Mickey battled the Blotwork Dragon.]
We're not as different as we seem to be [Then the pair looked happy as they tried out costumes together.]
There's so much more to me than what you see. [Mickey leaves the house while holding his head to collect himself.]
Oswald: It don't have to be this way [Ortensia smashes through a wall where Oswald reaches the end, which surprises him.]
Think about the consequences [But he immediately rushes over to his wife and hugs her.]
Mickey: Don't turn around and walk away. [Holding each other's hands, they return to Notilus and ride it together on the Thinner River.]
Mickey and Oswald: Brother, my brother [Gus finished by putting his wrench and pushing a green button.]
Tell me, what are we fighting for [This made the holographic maze disappear and the traps deactivate.]
Isn't life worth so much more [But Blot Collar Toy Robots and Blot splotch SECUR-Ts are still active as they try to locate the Toonateers.]
You should love one another [Gus comes out of the main controls and starts to fly around to look for his teammates.]
Oswald: Oh, can't we just pretend [Mickey was confused about what happened until the splotch SECUR-Ts cornered him.]
Mickey: This war never began [Quickly, he begins to use his Paintbrush to thin them out or use his Spin Move.]
Oswald: Tell me why, Brother, my brother (Mickey: Tell me why! Brother, my brother) [But the SECUR-Ts malfunctions, which surprises Mickey until he sees Oswald defending him from a distance with his Remote.]
Yes (Oh, yeah!) Tell me why! [Happily, the half-Disney Brothers ran to each other for Mickey to hop into Oswald's arms for a hug.]
Mickey and Oswald: Brother My Brother [Oswald spins around joyfully while hugging his brother.]
Oswald: Oh, what are we fighting for [Ortensia finds the moment sweet and cute that she smiles.]
Isn't life just worth so much more? [But when a Blot Collar Toy Robot appeared behind her, she immediately smashed it with a hammer fist.]
Mickey and Oswald: Love one another [The Disney Brothers soon notice more Blot Collar Toy Robots and Blot splotch SECUR-Ts come their way.]
Oswald: Tell me why! (Mickey: Woah, what are we fighting for!) Oh, yes. (Know now, know now, yeah) Brother, my brother [So, the Brothers end their hug to take out their weapons to fight alongside Ortensia as soon as Gus arrives.]
Mickey and Oswald: Brother, my brother [Tintley and Turpley continue to recall how they watched every event in Wasteland like Epic Mickey and Epic Mickey 2. But when they had enough to focus on reviving their kind, they made the Toon Heart Orb float into seas which somehow reached Mizrabel's Castle of Illusion.]
Oswald: Tell me why, yes, yes! (Mickey: Tell me why! Tell me why! What are we fighting for, yeah!) [They soon see themselves hitting their heads on rocks to forget everything they've been through.]
Can't we just love one another? [But in the distance, they notice Pete's Steamboat coming to their island.]
Mickey and Oswald: Love one another [Startled, they try to fly to hide but end up slamming into a tree, and coconuts hit their heads, causing their amnesia.]
Oswald: My brother, my brother (Mickey: Oh, yeah-yeah-yeah.) [The two Guardians soon return to reality when the song ends and sees the three Toonateers and Gus coming over.]
"Tintley and Turpley, we're glad you're okay," said Mickey.
"While we were waiting, we regained all of our memories. The Petes managed to find the island with a steamboat," said Tintley.
"I think they used the Paint and Thinner Crystals to find the island since our kind loves that stuff," said Turpley.
"Hmm. Maybe I should inform Mad Doc about this," said Oswald, using his remote to send a text mail to the Mad Doctor.
"Now that we're all together again. Let's get to Tomorrow Square. The last Disney Princess has to be there," said Ortensia.
"To the Projector," said Gus, leading the way.
"Hey, Mick. Tintley and I aren't feeling like flying. Do you mind carrying us on your shoulders?" Turpley said.
"Sure. As long as you keep your voice lower. The ears are big and sensitive," said Mickey, putting the Guardian Fairies on his shoulders.
"Alright. There's no time to less with a Princess in line," said Tintley.
As the Toonateers go over to the Projector, three Dictators are on the shoulders of Big Blot Pete, who are watching the whole thing.
"They're cracking up. I can feel it," said BlotToon Mickey, crossing his legs.
"Want to bet who will say the truth first? I say the Blue Guardian Fairy will do it," BOswald said.
"No, the Green Guardian Fairy will say it. The Blue Guardian is too sweet to speak out what hurts," said BOrtensia.
"But she's the honest one, unlikely that green-bad mouth. He doesn't care how much it hurts."
"Exactly, why he'll say it first."
"Okay, Miss Know-it-All Kitten. If I win this bet, you make me ten hotdogs with carrot bits and mustard."
"And if I win, you give me a bubbly flea bath and scrub me with a loafer."
"It's a deal."
"It's a date."
After BOswald and BOrtensia shake hands, BOswald ten said to BM, "So, BM. We can't cheat on deals. Can we?"
"As if I care! We must capture those Guardian Fairies, so our friend won't go ka-poot!" he continued. "Get the Tomorrow Square, stat!"
Big Blot Pete roared in agreement before climbing all over the place to get to the Square before the Toonateers.
