Jazz now tries not to pry into her brother's love life, as her parents did. But she could tell something was up with Danny as early as the morning when Jazz had to get up to use the bathroom, and she spotted her brother coming home. It didn't help that she looked into his room and saw that his backpack had some sand on it. Later in the day, Jazz asked Danny.
"So Danny, where have you been?"
Danny responded, "Oh, I was just hanging out with some people,"
"Who?"
"Look, I'm not going to tell you who I hang out with."
"I'm just asking."
"Then stop."
With that not going anywhere, she figured he'd try to tell her the truth eventually, when he was ready. However, when she went into the kitchen, she saw Danny's phone buzzing with a message from a girl named Tara.
