Episode 158: Countercurrent

The monstruous deer jumped towards Akinyi and Lexi, but Duck got on his way and threw an orb at his face, making him screech loudly as it exploded, bringing him to the ground, almost falling from the roof's corner. "Come on! Try to touch her again to see what I'm capable of, beast!"

The deer roared and then rushed towards Duck, then Rev used his super speed, jumping towards a wall and using it to impulse himself back to where the monster was, with his sharp claws ready to strike Duck, Rev hit the monster right on the snout with both of his feet. He stopped using his super speed and landed gracefully next to Duck, Akinyi and Lexi. The monster fell into the water again. "I'll take Lexi to a safe sp…"

"No…thanks Rev." Lexi stood up with Akinyi's help. "I'm fine, I can fight now."

"You sure?" Duck asked.

"Mhm." Lexi smirked at him.

"Now it's my turn." Ace activated his jetpack and began to shoot his laser vision at the water while flying around, looking for the monster at the same time, who he managed to spot in no time. "You aren't going anywhere!" He flew down a bit and kept shooting his laser around the monster, the water around him was boiling already and the monster screeched with great pain while trying to swim his way out of the water. Ace let out a long scream of effort as he flew even lower, dangerously close to the screaming monster.

"Be careful Ace!" Akinyi warned, then she sighed and jumped from the office's roof, turning into smoke and heading towards the beast.

Ace kept shooting at the water, but the monster managed to grasp his foot with one hand, then he threw Ace towards a wall violently, the jetpack made a cracking noise when Ace hit the wall with his back and fell into the water again, far from the beast so the water was at a tolerable, yet high temperature in that spot. "Ace!" Lexi exclaimed, and before she could try to dive in, Duck stopped her by placing a hand on her shoulder.

"I'll go, sis." Duck teleported to the water, getting right next to Ace, who was already swimming to the surface. They both got their heads out of the water. "You okay man?"

Ace coughed a bit of water. "Yes…yes but my jetpack's broken." He tried to activate it but it didn't work.

A monstrous screech made them both and the other members of the team look at the beast, who was splashing aggressively while Akinyi came out of him in her smoke form, she then turned almost instantly to her normal form, falling into the water between the beast and the two heroes. "Damn!" Duck quickly teleported to where she was and carried her in his arms, then teleported back to the roof, laying her down gently. "Akinyi." Duck knelt down next to her, patting her face a couple of times.

Rev also knelt next to her, checking her pulse and letting out a brief sigh of relief. "She's fine…" He looked at her, noticing the subtle movements she made with her head. "Just unconscious."

"Take her to the refuge." Lexi commanded, so Rev carried her and left in a rush.

"We almost got him!" Ace was holding from a long tube attached to the office, focusing his gaze on the beast, who had climbed up one of the generators. The beast roared loudly, looking at the heroes with hatred and rage, with his fur and skin severely damaged, but with his obstinate mind still intact.

"Ladies first." Lexi thundered her fingers and then activated her jetpack, flying towards the beast, then Duck followed her.

On the meantime, Slam, Edison, Randy and Vale still battled with the beastly tiger inside the monorail, which traveled fast between the tall and white skyscrapers, at a very high altitude. Almost all of the windows had been broken because of the intense and uninterrupted battle. "I have an idea!" Edison expressed as Slam threw a punch at the beast, making him fall to the ground.

Slam looked over his shoulder and grunted at Edison, asking him what did he have in mind.

"Let's take him to the top." Edison said.

Vale was getting onto his feet as he was recovering from a previous hit from the monster, cleaning a bit of blood from his snout, also looking down through the broken window, noticing how far away from the ground they were. "I see what you mean, but we gotta do it fast, the train's going down like…in five or so!" He noticed a slope that went increasingly down not too far away from the section the monorail was currently traveling in.

Randy appeared suddenly among them, with his signature blue fading trace behind him, having traveled the entire interior of the monorail. "There's a hatch right in the middle, we gotta take him back there."

Slam snarled as he grasped the beast by the neck and when he tried to throw him, the beast kicked hit stomach strongly, making Slam groan and let go off him, the beast then hit Slam's head with his, very violently, so Slam immediately fell over the ground, completely knocked down, as the beast's forehead bled.

"Slam!" Vale exclaimed.

Randy rapidly went where Slam and knelt down next to him, briefly touching his face, noticing that he was still breathing. "I...I think he's just unconscious."

The beast tried to throw a deathly blow at Vale, but he kicked his face with a strong and well-timed flying kick, making him fall to the ground. "Oh damn."

"We have to wake him up, how are we gonna take this guy up there?" Edison inquired, standing next to Vale with a battle position.

"What if Edison stays with Slam? Vale can, uhm, confuse and hit the monster, while I also hit him with my super speed." Randy proposed while standing up.

"Can´t you just use your super speed to take him up there?" Edison inquired.

"I'm not that strong." Randy argued.

"He's right, look at him." Vale said. "No offense, man."

Edison sighed. "Alright, whatever." He crouched and began to pull from Slam's arm, unable to move him even a little. "Ungh...Dang, what do they feed this guy?"

"Just watch over hi…" Vale couldn't finish the phrase as the beast grasped his neck tightly and lifted him up. "Gah!" Randy rapidly jumped towards the monster with his super speed and kicked his face strongly, sending him and Vale several meters away, in direction to the center of the monorail. When the monster hit the ground, he let go off Vale's neck. Vale breathed in and out deeply as he touched his neck while standing up with the help of Randy. "Take a…" He sighed. "...run-up, Randy, I'll distract him."

"Okay." Randy did as Vale told him, rushing to the very end of the monorail with his super speed, adopting an 'on your marks' position.

Vale had made two copies of himself, they pretended to battle the monster, dodging his kicks, punches and bites, while he was hiding under a bench. "Is this all you got, pussycat?" Vale said through one of his copies as he made it dodge the violent attack that the beast attempted with both fists, such attack hit the floor and left some deep dents in it. "Now, Randy!" Vale said through his comm.

Randy rushed with his super speed towards the beast, getting there in a split of second, punching him right on the face, sending him even more meters away, just another punch away from the target zone of the monorail. The beast hit the ground strongly, groaning while trying to stand up. "Woah, nice punch, man!" Vale praised.
