So, this is chapter 5 of this story. I'm not sure how much substance will this chapter have or will it be moved to the next one. Whatever it is I hope you still like it. Also, my Laserdisc player broke 2 days ago and getting it fixed is pain in the ass. Hopefully I'll get it fixed soon. Now to the chapter and hopefully I'll actually upload this in February of 2020 and not in 1 year and 9 months. Also, I don't know how it is elsewhere but where I live, I have a weeks' vacation, so this is perfect time to update these chapters. Now to the story.
Today was the day when the classes would finally start. I was not eating breakfast with Mirta and Lucy just before the classes start. The food wasn't bad but not as good as the one in Alphea. It still was more than enough to sustain ourselves before dinner.
"So, what class do you have?" Mirta asked me while fiddling around with her food. I took my schedule and looked at it. "History by professor Saloda." I said to her. Why would they teach history if this is school for magic?
But my god the surprise on my face after what Mirta said next. "History by Saloda probably is the best class in here." How can history be the best class!? It's the most boring subject even in Earth. If it's the most boring subject compared to math or biology how can it even stack up against magic classes!?
Even worse Lucy seemed to agree with her. "One of the best definitely." My jaw just dropped. Have I been transported into an alternative universe where history is fun?
"H-how? How can it be the best class? It's history." I asked them bewildered. "It's not because of the subject. It's the teacher." Mirta simply explained. How can a teacher make history even bearable?
"You are going to hate Saloda at first and think he is the worst teacher ever. Trust me everyone here thinks that at first. But few weeks later you are going to think he is the best teacher here." Lucy explained but I was going to need to see it. What makes Saloda so special compared to other teachers?
The breakfast ended soon after that. Mirta and Lucy went to their own classes while I went to the history class. The class itself wasn't anything special. It did have that cloud tower class look but other than that, it was your standard class. There was one bookshelf to my right which seemed to be filled with history books though they weren't very well organized. Next to the bookshelf there were maps of places I didn't recognize.
The door opened and Saloda wasn't what I expected.
You see when you think of a history teacher. You always think of a nerdy looking guy with glasses who might have a bald spot that is carrying books. Saloda didn't fit that standard. He was wearing all black, he had shoulder length black hair though his hairline was receding along with black mustache, he had an earring and had multiple rings and instead of carrying books he was carrying a guitar case.
He gave all of us a cold stare before he went to his desk and put all of his stuff down. Once he had put everything, he slammed his hand to his desk causing all of us to look at him.
"Now that I have your attention let's talk about the rules of this class." He said said while looking at us. "First of all, there will be silence. You can only speak if I give you permission and unlike other teachers here, I'll enforce it." I could hear few of the witches' mutter something.
"Since we are just learning history of magical dimensions and not magic there will be no spells allowed to be used in this class. And trust me if I see some of you using spells you are not going to like it." He said eyeing few witches that looked like they are going to be troublemakers. "Let's move onto homework. You forget your homework once, fine that happens to everybody. However, forget twice then you'll write an essay because of it." Why do I think it won't be long before I have to write an essay for him.
He then handed a piece of paper to one of the students. "Write you name to where you are sitting and give it to the student next to you. And don't start to switch you spots because I won't bother to learn most of your names." I don't understand what do Mirta and Lucy see in this teacher.
Eventually the paper came to me and it was a good way to see my classmate's names. But I didn't read it for too long before I just put my own name there and handed it to the next one. Once everyone had put their names on the paper, he looked at it for a minute before putting it down.
"Now some of you might think that what I'm teaching is useless. After all, why would you need history when you can learn just spells instead? While spells are important most of you will not use most of them in your daily life. Unlike history, which you need to know about, to understand most societal events part and present. Which is why I am very worried about, how little people seem to know about history." He said eyeing the going to be troublemaker witches, as if he was talking to them specifically.
"Now let us begin." And with a snap of his fingers he started a projector just like that. "Let's go with something that you should know from your last year from education." He said and with another snap of his fingers the title arrived. 'The magix revolution'
I was starting to get panicked with this whole stuff. If they expected me to know these things, they are simply wrong. Catching up with the other witches is going to be really important or else I'm going to fail Cloud Tower because I didn't know history.
Saloda snapped his fingers again and bunch of key points appeared. "Now first we have to ask why it happened. As you can see there are many rea..." He stopped and looked at all of us with a judgmental look.
"Why aren't you writing what it says in the slides!?" He asked and all of us started to dig our notebooks from our bags.
The lunch was average again. Compared to the lunches in Alfea or Gardenia, it cannot be denied that Cloud Tower falls behind a lot. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.
The classes were interesting. Hex class went very well as we are learning the basics just now. I had learned the basics back when I was in Earth. I'm sure that as the class will go on we'll move to more advanced spells that I have not learned. The first classes are always easy. Potions was more of a challenge. Since I didn't have the proper equipment, I had no way to practise potions in Earth. I can see potions becoming a challenge, but hopefully it is a challenge I can overcome.
Mirta and Lucy were sitting next to me in a table. "So how was the first day?" I asked them.
"It was ok." Lucy simply stated. "Could have gone a lot worse. What about you, since it's your first day in Cloud Tower?" Mirta asked me. "Allow me to guess it sucked." Lucy said.
"Hexes went well, but potions and history not so well. I also can't understand how can you say that Saloda is a good teacher." Lucy rolled her eyes at the later statement. "Like I said Bloom wait few weeks and then you'll see why." Mirta pointed out, but I couldn't see why.
I finished my food and drank the class of water and returned the tray of food while leaving Mirta and Lucy alone on their table. Normally there would be few more classes but because Griffin is going to make some sort of an announcement they are cancelled. I'm a bit curious at what it is going to be about but I'll see soon.
And chapter 5 is done before I have even published chapter 4. It's shorter and doesn't have that much but I hope it was good enough. The next chapter I have planned will be much longer and more interesting than this one so I hope I can get it ready to be published a week after this one. Sad news my Laserdisc player could not be repaired as there was few plastic pieces that had snapped and there are no replacement parts for the player. The only way I can repair it is by 3d printing, which is something I cannot do. So my Pioneer LD-v200 has to be stored away as broken and hopefully I'll repair it someday. Buying a replacement player isn't going to be cheap as PAL/NTSC players cost about 200 + without shipping (and these are the cheap ones).
Saloda has been inspired by my own history teacher who is very similar to the one in this story. And yes we think he is the best teacher in the whole school. As I didn't know how to write any of the other professors I decided to make my own one. There aren't that many canon professors in Cloud tower. Only 3 and one of them is only in the comics. I'm also going to do a big project and that is to record the first season of Winx club and probably second as well and put it in my digibox. Problem is that youtube to mp4 converters don't allow you to download copyrighted videos meaning I cannot download Winx Club episodes. The only way I can download is to record the whole episode with obs. But then there are some things I have to edit in there and then I have to produce the video which takes 20 minutes so I can finally watch it on my digibox. It's annoying and will probably take some time but hopefully it is worth it.
Hivedragon (c4): I have PM'd you a better response. But there are plenty of differences between the 4Kids, Rai and Nick versions (which I told you in the PM). Well glad you agreed with me that I made her go overboard back in 2018. I actually edited her chapter 4 outfit when I uploaded chapter 5 and it's more of her season 1 casual party outfit now. But as the story continues she'll get a more witchy outfit.
Luiz4200 (c4): Let's just say there is reason why Flora is listed separately in the characters.
Dutchie (c4): Well glad to see you saw my fanfiction come back to life just after you were getting back. I'll try my best not to make this a dead one (well I'll never make this dead just have very long hiatuses edit as of 260h of July 2020 like I had one because of corona). And glad to see you like the perspective.
Also if I don't update this story in a long time but you would have liked to know what the plot of this story would have been, just write that you want it in a review or PM as I have pretty much completed most of basic plot of this story. (Only if I haven't uploaded in a long time about 9 months at least.)
