As Kazuma followed Aqua and Wolbach he could feel that the two of them had something important to say to him, so he didn't bother to say anything until they finally stopped walking.
'So what?" he began to ask the two but he stopped talking when both goddesses turned and pointed at different things.
Aqua was pointing at him while Wolbach was pointing at something he had never seen before.
"It's time that you learned to use the powers that our true selves gave you." both goddesses say to him at the same time.
"One of us will watch over the kids." Aqua says to him.
"While two of us train you." Wolbach says to him.
"Now Kazuma the first thing that you have to do is dig, I don't mean dig by using your skills, I mean dig with your hands until I tell you to stop." Aqua says to him with the same cold voice that she used whenever a demon made her angry.
"When you are done with Aqua's training I'll be the one that will teach you and then Eris will help you." Wolbach says to him as she walks past him.
Kazuma feels his body start to move on its own and he begins to look around desperately as he tries and understand what's going on.
He finally reaches the area where Aqua is pointing and he finds that there's nothing there.
'We gave you the powers of Heaven, and we told you to find a proper weapon, but you chose to use spirit energy instead, and now someone that wasn't a monster tried to kill you." Aqua says to him.
"Kazuma do you trust me?" Aqua asks him.
'No." Kazuma answers her before the two of them look into each other's eyes and feel themselves begin to smile.
"Good, because you are not going back until You can use My Skills when you need them." Aqua says to him and Kazuma knows that she was right.
They had told him to look for a specific weapon, instead, he had decided to use what he found in Yuki's notebook to make himself a sword, but at the same time the only reason that the girls were even with him was that he had created the sword
He wanted to protest to tell them that they wouldn't have been able to see each other if he hadn't done that, but he knew that they were right.
'I don't wanna." he says to Aqua as he looks at the grass beneath him.
"I know, I don't want you to do this either, but you have to because it's the quickest way." Aqua says to him as tears begin to fall from her eyes, as she sees Kazuma force his fingers into the dirt before he takes fists fulls out and throws them to the side.
"You already have our skills, now you need to control the power that we gave you so that you can make them work like they're supposed to." Wolbach says to him before she looks away when she sees blood begin to drip from Kazumas hands.
Kazuma keeps on digging even when his fingers became numb and his fingernails broke off, but every time that he was going to stop and hold his hands because of the pain or when he was going to scream in agony, Aqua would heal him and say.
'You have to dig."
When the sun started to go down the unholy sounds of the monsters howling reaches his ears and he was going to use it as an excuse so that he can run away, but Aqua's glowing blue eyes forced him to keep digging.
He keeps on digging through the night and he never stops to take a break.
More than once he yells and curses at both Aqua and Wolbach for forcing him to do this, but the two of them just looked at him coldly so he keeps on digging.
He finally stops digging when he finds what looks like a white pillar and he smiles as he thinks that he has finally finished doing what they wanted him to do, but his smile vanishes when Aqua says that he needs to dig the entire thing out.
He finally has enough and tries to teleport away, but Wolbach stops him from doing it and points at the pillar as she silently tells him to dig.
He cries and vomits because of the pain, even as he digs like a dog so that he can move faster through the wet dirt.
He doesn't know when Aqua started to heal him but the pain is starting to go away and as he continues to dig he notices that his hands are starting to glow with a faint green light.
He can see the cuts on his fingers start to close themselves but they shouldn't be able to do this, neither his healing skill nor Aqua's sacred healing skill did this, they just made the injuries and the pain go away.
He can feel the dirt and mud on that's now completely covering his entire body start to harden because of the sun's heat, but the pain has finally stopped, and he's now moving faster than when he started.
He digs through the openings between the pillars, and he keeps on digging until he finds the white floors that are now covered with mud, but he doesn't stop even when he uncovers the wall that once separated the field from the rest of the world.
He doesn't dare to even try to stop now, he can see the last pile of dirt and as he moves it to the side he feels the cold touch of water from a waterfall that Aqua must have summoned before it covers him and the building that he found.
"Good job." Aqua says to him as she walks towards him.
Kazuma has to stop himself from punching her in the face when he sees her shy away from him, he knows why she forced him to do this, he can heal himself now and for whatever reason, he feels like he somehow became stronger.
He slowly walks towards Aqua who has her head down and stands in front of her, she slowly looks up at him and he sees that her eyes are red.
She hasn't stopped crying, he knows that it killed her to force him to do this, but at the same time, he can't help but feel resentful toward her.
So he does the only thing that feels right, he hugs her and immediately hears her breakdown crying as she begs him to forgive her.
She screams her words between her desperate cries, she says that she only did this so that he could live, that she only hurt him because she cares about him.
He just holds her, and bites his lower lip, he knows that she's right but he can't help but resent her for it.
