The match was a full 6 on 6. Dawn was able to take down two of Nemona's pokemon and wore down one, but ultimately lost.
"Wow, you seem to be really good at battles, Nemona," Dawn said.
Nemona shrugged. "Well, I am a champion ranked trainer, so I guess that's a given…"
Dawn gave a confused look but was unable to speak before Nemona when on.
Nemona run up to her and put her hands on Dawn's shoulder with an excited look. "But you on the other hand…! I never even seen anyone use such great battle strategies while their pokemon looked as cool as yours did! It was honestly the most fun battle I had ever!"
Dawn gave out an awkward smile. "Thanks, but… what I did is the usual I do in contests…"
"Contest? Oh! Those things that are super popular in Hoenn and Sinnoh! I never gave them much thought, thinking they are all about being flashy and put less focus on battles… but now you got me super interested!"
"Yeah, they definitely aren't all flashy, there's a lot to think about in a contest…" Dawn was reminded the struggles she went through getting used to contests with Aipom and how she learned that you have to show your pokemon's strengths and skills, not just making a flashy show. "Unlike showcases, there's a battle round to deal with. So being able to battle well is very important for a coordinator."
Nemona nodded. "I knew that. Just that with the focus of pokemon showing off and looking good never really mattered to me. I'm all about battling! However, if I can get new strats to take down opponents… contest sound really interesting now!"
Dawn smiled. "She sure is a lot like Ash… I wonder how he's doing," she thought to herself.
Suddenly, a strange sound came from the sky and high winds suddenly picked up. When they looked up, they saw purple creature in the sky, and it was falling down.
"Oh no! What's wrong?" Dawn shouted.
"I don't know…" Nemona said.
Some wild hoppip where blown into Dawn's face while in a panic. Dawn screamed and tried to move out of their way. However, the hoppips grabbed onto Dawn's face not wanting to be blown anymore.
Nemona gave an angry look. "What are you doing? Stop picking on Dawn, you bad wild pokemon!" She was about to send out one of her pokemon to knock the poor hoppips off Dawn. There was a loud noise, and when she looked to see what it was, she saw that the guardrail that was blocking the cliff was wrecked by that purple creature and Dawn was stumbling towards it. "Dawn! Watch out! Your gonna…!"
Dawn stepped back, but there was no ground and she started to quickly fall.
The hoppip felt her go down and finally let go not wanting to go down with her.
Nemona ran to her as fast as she could to grab her but wasn't even close to make it in time. "No!" She then noticed Dawn's rotomdex slipped out. "Dawn! Grab it quick!"
Dawn opened her eyes and saw her rotomdex. Seeing as it was the only thing to grab, she did and it saved her slamming hard into the ground. She and her rotomdex sighed.
"Hey! Are you okay?"
"Y-yeah! Just fine, somehow…"
Nemona let out a sigh of relief. "It's a good thing you got one of those rotomdex's…"
"Yeah…"
"Gyuu…" A weak sound came from the purple creature.
Dawn took notice and ran to it. "Hey! Are you okay?"
The purple creature made another weak sound.
"Hold on…" Dawn took out her pack and dug around in it. "You'll feel better soon!" She finally found what she was looking for and pulled out a potion. She then sprayed it on the creature, but it had no effect. "Huh?"
"Maybe… it's lacking something it needs as a species. Try and see if the rotomdex can give any answers!" Nemona shouted.
"Good idea…" Dawn said. She pulled out the rotomdex and scanned the creature.
"Miraidon. Much remains unknown about this creature. It resembles cyclizar, but it is far more ruthless and powerful."
Dawn looked over to Nemona. "… That didn't really help."
Nemona crossed her arms with a thoughtful look. "Cyclizar? Don't those things need recharging at those recharging stations? We could probably make it to…"
A weird sound came from Miraidon's tummy.
"Oh… Are you hungry?" Dawn questioned.
Miraidon looked at her weakly and nodded.
"Alright! I have just the thing to fill you up! Poffins!" Dawn pulled out some berries and a portable poffin making kit and put in some ingredients and tried handing it to Miraidon.
Miraidon sniffed it, but then turned its head the other way from it.
"Hey! How can you be so starving to be weak but turn down anything offered to you?!" Nemona shouted.
"I guess it's the wrong poffin for its type… what is cyclizar type anyways?"
"They are dragon and normal type!"
Dawn gave an uncertain look. "I see…" She doesn't have any dragon type pokemon on her, so she doesn't carry many ingredients that dragons would like. And Dawn's Buneary gets a lot of poffins to make her look great for when she does pokemodeling and has eaten the last poffin she had for that. "Do I have any more berries to make the poffin normal types like?" She dug around her small bag when in her frantic search, a sandwich fell out. Earlier, she picked it up, wanting to try it during lunch after hearing people rave about the place she brought the sandwich from.
Miraidon started sniffing around and picked up on the scent of the sandwich. He located it, grabbed it with its mouth and ate it.
Dawn gasped, seeing the sandwich right before it slid down Miraidon's throat. "Hey! That was mine!"
Miraidon made a happy nose and was able to stand on its feet.
"Alright! It looks like it can move! That'll make it easier to get it to Nurse Joy!" Nemona shouted.
Dawn gave a stressed look as she looked around. There was water surrounding the area with the small land they are on with the tall cliff they fell from behind them. "… Is there a way back up?"
"Well, you have to go through that cave there, but… Watch out!"
Dawn looked at what Nemona was staring at in panic and saw a wild houndour was coming straight for her. There was no way she can battle the houndour with all her pokemon knocked out from the battle with Nemona. She back up with a panicked look and fell to the ground.
"Oh no!" Nemona was about to send out one of her pokemon to stop the houndour. But before she could, Miraidon jumped in front of Dawn and slammed into the houndour, which made it run away whimpering.
Dawn sighed and then looked over at Miraidon as she stood up. "Thanks so much Miraidon!" She then petted it.
Miraidon nuzzled her hand, then nuzzled Dawn's face as Dawn giggled.
"Wow, you're pretty affectionate, aren't you?" Dawn thought it was strange. "If it's like this around humans, then it must belong to someone…" she thought to herself.
"Wow! That pokemon is so strong!" Nemona shouted.
Miraidon looked away with an uncertain look, which made Dawn look at it with a concerned look.
"I was worried… with your pokemon knocked out and all, that it'd be impossible for you to get through the cave." Nemona thought a bit. "Though, it would've been so fun to knock out all the pokemon in the cave for you."
Dawn gave a stressed look. "Fun? Is she serious?" she whispered.
"But seeing how powerful that pokemon is, you should have no problem with getting through the cave!" Nemona put her fist up with a confident look. "Well, you should get to it then! Meet you inside!" She then ran off.
Miraidon was starting to move, then looked over to Dawn. "Gyuu!"
Dawn gave a surprised look. "Are you… helping me?"
Miraidon nodded.
Dawn smiled. "Thanks so much!" She ran to him and let him take the lead. Miraidon sure has made it up for stealing her sandwich. In fact, as far as Dawn is concerned, Miraidon can have all the sandwiches it wants for all the help it did for her.
Miraidon kept a slow pace so that Dawn could keep up.
Once she saw the two, Nemona shouted, "Hey Dawn! Up here!" and waved at them.
Dawn smiled, seeing that there is indeed a way back up. "Alright! Coming!" She continued to follow Miraidon. However, unbeknownst to them, the shouting alerted the pokemon to them, and they were watching Dawn very carefully.
A bunch of wild houndour came and attacked Miraidon.
"You got this, Miraidon!" Dawn shouted. She then heard deep growling and when she turned around, she saw a houndoom and gave a terrified look. "Oh no. What do I do?"
"Dawn!" Nemona was dashing as fast as she could to Dawn, but then got caught up with some houndour stopping her as well.
The houndoom went to jump Dawn, so Dawn did the only thing she could do and tossed a pokeball at it and ran. It instantly broke out attacked her. She let out a scream in pain as the houndoom bit her.
Miraidon busted through the houndours and bashed into the houndoom knocking it out.
Dawn grunted with a pained look as she held her bleeding arm.
Miraidon gave her a worried look, feeling bad it wasn't able to help her before getting injured. "Gyuu…"
Dawn looked over at Miraidon with a smile that still showed she's in a lot of pain. "Miraidon… I know you did all you could… and with that, I'm still alive thanks to you!"
Nemona finally took care of the wild houndour blocking her way and ran to Dawn. "Oh no! I'm so sorry, Dawn! I guess it really was a bad idea to go in here… I should've just went and got one of my flying pokemon to get you!"
"T-there's no need to worry about it now! We should get out of here while we can!"
"Yeah… You're right."
Dawn tried to stand up, but quickly went back down with all the sudden shooting pain in her legs.
"OOooh… Those are some pretty bad scraps." Nemona gave a confident smile. "But there's no need to worry! I can carry you out!"
"But you'll get blood all over the school uniform and get in trouble for ruining it…"
Nemona shrugged. "Whatever. I can always get a new one, and making sure you get out of here is way more important than keeping this clean…"
"Gyuu!" Miraidon shouted.
Dawn and Nemona looked at Miraidon with a curious look.
"What is it, Miraidon?" Dawn asked.
It laid it's body on the ground and motioned Dawn to get on.
"Oh, right! Miraidon is a big and strong pokemon!" Nemona shouted.
Miraidon looked down with an uncertain look.
"It should be able to carry you out of here! Especially if it is related to cyclizars somehow!"
Dawn looked over at Miraidon and it nodded. So, she slowly climbed on.
Once Dawn was on, Miraidon got up and slowly moved out of the cave with Nemona besides Dawn just in case she started slipping off.
To Dawn's surprise, it seems like Miraidon was born to carry humans, like it was formed like some sort of motorbike. It took a while, but they were finally out of the cave.
