Authors Note (July 9th 2022): For starters I am not dead. I am still alive. I hit a big writer's block in this chapter and due to school and studies I kinda forgot about this. I'm sorry for leaving this off but I've finally got a full timeline planned for this story with all events.
Let's do this!
Chapter 4
A shrouded darkness lay still in the room, the smell of fresh blood lingered in the air. The knife cut along his bare body once again as the boy winced in pain. Again, and again the knife left a bloody trail on him, each time deeper than the last. His objective was simple, don't scream, don't wince, show no weakness. Despite all the 'lessons' he had to endure, he was finding it difficult to show no weakness. The man unlocked the chains that he was confined to and grabbed him by the hair earning a small yelp from the boy. The man, tall and beefy, dragged the bloody boy to a bucket filled with water, a bloody trail left behind on the cold hard ground. Suddenly, the man grasped the boys head and with a strong hand, kept it under the water. The minor stayed still for a little while before beginning to violently thrashing for air. He could feel it, the air escaping from his lungs, his body slowly leaving a conscious state.
"Stop." The man let go of the youth's head as he wheezed out all the water he had inside of him, air filling him up. Through blurry eyes he made a shadowy figure conversing with his 'teacher' in Russian.
He looks promising.
The words of the unknown man echoed in the boy's mind. He couldn't hear the whole conversation but only fragments and phrases.
I want you to break him more, I still see weakness in him.
The shadowy figure left the room as the 'teacher' grabbed a whip from the stand. All the boy could do was watch as he approached him. His will to scream and cry was suppressed once more as the cold whip came down on his broken body...

It had only been 2 weeks since Hiccup, or Hunter as he's now known as, has joined Berk High. Even though it was such a short time, it felt like forever. The small group of friends he'd met on his first day put into perspective how hollow his life was. He never actually had any proper friends. On conference days he got to meet some senator's children but he never really interacted with them. This was his chance at living a normal life and he was going to make the most of it. Hiccup had integrated himself into the group, understanding how it functioned and the personalities of each member. He felt something special when it came to 2 members of the group, Astrid and Toothless. He'd gotten close to Toothless as he felt that when he looked at him, he saw himself. Toothless too had a closed off life, the only difference between their lives was that unlike Hiccup, Toothless went to school. At first Hiccup thought Toothless was very lucky but Astrid had told him that when Toothless used to go to his old school, he was relentlessly bullied. There were many other mysteries to Toothless' life but Hiccup understood not to rush in too deep.
He got out of the car as the chilly morning air of Berk prickled his neck as he walked on inside the building. He walked past the familiar hallways and made his way to his locker. Opening it, he looked at the time-table he had stuck onto the inner door of his locker and grabbed the books he needed and stuffed them into his bag. Suddenly he heard the locker next to him open. He closed his locker to reveal Astrid also grabbing her books. A sudden rush of warmth overcame Hiccup as he stood there looking at her.
"You gonna say anything or you just gonna keep staring at me?" She said playfully as Hiccup snapped back out from his trance. Hiccup could see the inside of her locker; she had a couple photos stuck up along with a calendar. In one he could see her standing with some other girls by a lake, fishing poles in hand.
Suddenly she closed her locker, almost purposefully, as if to deny him the right to look at those photos.
"Wanna walk together to class?" Hiccup asked they both slung their bags over their shoulders and strolled to class. Unaware to them, someone stood at the other end of the hallway, listening into their conversation, watching them like a hawk.
Fishlegs was standing at the door intently reading a copy of 'Getting better at Biology'. He looked at them and waved. Suddenly Toothless came up from behind them.
"Hey guys!" He said completely out of breath.
"Are you ok?" Hiccup asked as they all walked into the classroom,
"Yeah, I'm fine, I was a bit late so I had to run here." Toothless replied as all 3 of them placed their books by their desk, Fishlegs still reading the book as he followed them. In the 2 weeks Hunter had been in the school, he still found something new in the classroom which he hadn't observed the previous day. He looked around at the brightly coloured posters on the walls, one of them was an anti-bullying poster, a couple others were about subjects like English and Science. Hunter's favourite part of the room was the art corner, where anyone could stick some art there. Since a young age Hiccup had loved drawing. He would sit by a window with a notebook and draw whatever he saw. It was one of the only ways he could pass the time between lessons.
He looked around once again, this time at everyone in the class. Ruffnut and Tuffnut were playing the 'knife between your fingers' game with a pencil, Fishlegs was still reading, Astrid was getting her books out of her bag. He saw a group of girls gossiping by a table, giving occasional glances to a group of boys talking about the previous weekend's basketball game. He noticed Snotlout trying to show off his 'muscles' again, Hunter only chuckled at it. He then saw the quiet kids. He had noticed that there was one guy who would always sit in the corner of the class. Always watching what everyone else was doing, whenever Hiccup looked at him, he was always wearing some headphones listening to music or writing something down in what appeared to be a journal. From asking around, he found out that the 'mystery man' was actually called Ulf, in Norse it meant the wolf
Suddenly the bell rang and everyone sat down in their places as the teacher walked in to teach the first period...

He took a deep breath, brushed himself down a bit to remove any dust, before knocking on the door.
"Come in." A faint voice said, the door groaned as the man pushed it open. A shiver ran up his spine as he looked around the room he was in. There was a map on the wall, pictures of men and women pinned up, some with a red cross on them. There was a small arsenal of guns laid out on another table, some hand-held grenades, a couple of pistols and a rifle kept on the floor, staying up with the support of the table. He could make out a map in the dull light, the low lights giving out some cascading lights along the walls. Finally, he saw the head of a lion stuck up on a wall and underneath sat his boss, Victor, buried deep in papers.
"Are you going to say anything or will you continue to stand there like the imbecile you are?" Victor said without looking up at the man.
"S-Sir I'm from the intelligence department." He was now suffocating in fear as Victor still showed no signs of looking at him.
"We've discovered that the security system in the school is weak, it has holes that we can use to put a virus allowing us to see the security cameras ourselves. I came with a request from the higher ups in my department asking for p-permission to hack into it." Victor now looked up and into the man's eyes.
"You work for Oswald, right?", Victor stood up and slowly walked over to a bottle of alcohol that was kept on the far-right table, "I thought he would be smarter than to ask such questions." Victor poured 2 shot glasses and handed one to the man.
"Tell me, what do you think is the correct thing to do?" The man's hand was shaking as he held the glass.
"I-I don't think it would be the best idea." He replied back as a small smile etched itself up Victor's face.
"Since the President's son is in the school, they would already be checking if there was a breach in security so if we were to try and hack into it, they would be alerted of our presence and transfer the boy to a place we wouldn't be able to find him." The man had used up whatever bit of confidence he has left in him as Victor started to nod.
"What is your name? You have potential to rise up the ranks."
"Daniel sir." He said as Victor put out his hand.
" Daniel, I think you and me both know that a person with your intelligence is not fit to work in such low-level places, how about we change that?" Daniel shook his hand with Victor's as they both drank from their glasses. Victor turned around and started shuffling through some papers in his desk.
"Daniel, right? Daniel Johnson, ahh yes found you." He said holding up a file. Suddenly, Daniel's breathe shortened, he could feel his head throbbing, his stomach paining as if it was digesting itself. He looked at the drink he held in his fumbling hands as it hit him, a faint milky white swirled in the brown drink, yet he saw Victor mix no milk into it. He finally realized it. He suddenly dropped to his knees as he looked up to see Victor, who was swirling his own drink in his hand.
"It's amazing isn't it," Victor kept the glass on the desk and turned around to face the now dying man in front of him, "There's something that's just poetic about poison, it can kill swifter than the sharpest blade, yet like a sadist it takes it's time to makes sure that the last thing you feel is the agonizing pain it introduces." Daniel fell onto the floor and in an act of desperation he clawed at the leather shoes of Victor.
Victor looked down into the Daniel's eyes with a wicked smile as his final act to save himself from death died with him. In his last moments of consciousness, he could only picture Victor's cruel smirk and his cold chuckle...

With a tray full of lunch, Hiccup stood to a side and looked around the cafeteria. It reminded him of a Viking long-house with its wooden ridges and the groups of tables set in a row. In the middle there were 2 rows of circular tables with blue seats. Then at the sides of the hall were booth-like seats. He noticed his friends sitting at one of the circular seats. Each of those tables had 7 seats. The 2 seats next to Astrid were empty, Toothless sitting on the 3rd seat after, so Hiccup went and sat down next to her.
"Ugh, tuna sandwiches again!?" He heard Tuffnut complain as he unwrapped his tuna sandwich. Suddenly, Ulf sat down next to Hiccup, his head angled downwards so his hair could cover his face.
"Oi, no one invited you here, get lost." Snotlout jeered but was instantly shut up by Toothless.
"It's fine if you sit here, I don't have any problems." Toothless supportively said as Hiccup could make out a small in-between the gaps of his hazel hair. As they ate, Hiccup reached out for his cup filled with water, only to realize he had forgotten to bring it. As if Ulf realized it as well, he handed over his own cup of untouched water as he went to get himself another cup. Hiccup took another bite out of his sandwich before reaching out for the cup. Astrid peered at the contents of the cup as she suddenly noticed something odd about it, there was a white strand that was swimming around in the crystal-clear water. Almost by instinct, she knocked over the water all over Hiccup's shirt
"Great Odin's Ghost I am so sorry!" She exclaimed as grabbed a bunch of tissues that lay on the table and helped Hiccup to clean himself up.
"It's fine, I have a spare shirt in my bag." Hiccup said as he walked out of the cafeteria. Astrid looked back at Ulf, who was staring at her with a cup in his hand. Astrid found it odd that he looked disappointed by the whole thing, as if he wanted Hiccup to drink the water. She looked around at everyone else, who were now all looking at her. One by one they went back to eating their food as Astrid looked back at the rest of her friends who sat with her. Tuffnut and Ruffnut were laughing their heads off, Toothless trying his best to hold his own laughter in.
In the hall, out ofthe people thinking either how embarrassing it was for Astrid or who was going to call the janitor to clean up the water on the floor, only one thought differently.
I guess no one's gonna know if that poison Ryker had imported actually works...

(30th July) 21 days of me working on this. This has to be the longest chapter I've ever written. I promise that from now onwards I will try my best to actually write more so that I can actually get somewhere with this book.
Thank you everyone for your patience!
