Chapter 16
Sora passed out once again. He didn't remember when or how. He woke up in a new bed, with new sheets and a much more comfortable pillow. He overheard voices. Familiar voices that made him feel safe. Goofy's voice. Was it all real? Was it all a dream? Where was he now? What happened to Vanitas? Sora didn't say a word, nor did he open his eyes. He simply heard the conversation take place. He heard Goofy's voice, but he also heard two new voices he didn't quite picture. Until Goofy mentioned their names a few times.
"You did nothing wrong. You saved that boy's life." said Sylvia, one of the librarians from Oblivion.
"I just feel so bad. I didn't mean to kill Braig." said Goofy sadly. His tone of voice sounded very defeated.
"Dad, Braig is the killer. He's killed so many good people over the years. Remember Ienzo, Isa and Even. They opposed Xehanort, and they paid the price." said Max, Goofy's son.
"Did you get PJ out of the school?" asked Sylvia.
"I did. Along with Roxanne, Bobby, Stacey and Hewey, Dewey and Louie. Pete didn't suspect a thing." said Max.
"Sylvia, Max. If anything happens to me, you both promise me that you get as far away from these lands as possible. The farther you are from Oblivion, the better." said Goofy.
"And leave you in this fight? I don't think so." said Sylvia.
"What's going to happen now?" asked Max.
"Mickey heard about what happened. He might have a word with me." said Goofy nervously.
"It was self defense Dad! You saved that boy! You saved a life!" cried Max. He placed his hands on Goofy's shoulders.
"Pete would NOT hesitate to put you down. You would give him a chance, but he won't." continued Max.
"I didn't give Braig a chance." said Goofy.
"Enough." said Mickey's voice through the door.
"Yeah Doc. Remember, this whole thing is a war." said Bugs Bunny, his voice also familiar.
"Goofy, I'm sorry. I should never have allowed Yosemite Sam to train you with his guns." said Mickey.
"Let me take my father's place Mickey. I'm faster and stronger than my Dad!" cried Max.
"No!" cried Goofy.
"Max, you're place is here at Acme Acres. You will instead train the kids here to fight. Xehanort is going to do something after this. Something horrible." said Mickey.
"According to the moles at Oblivion, Xehanort is going to unleash some form of shadows into the world. Creatures called the Heartless." said Sylvia.
Sora shivered at the name. Heartless. The greedy yellow eyed monsters that devoured hearts in his nightmares. They were here in this world. Alive? And Xehanort had them? Sora shot up from bed and screamed.
"NO!" he cried.
"Sora! You're awake!" cried Mickey.
"All my friends are at Oblivion. And my brothers!" cried Sora.
"We'll rescue them. Don't worry. But in the meantime…" said Mickey.
Suddenly, there was a scream. Everyone, except Sora, went out into the hallway. Sora couldn't see what was going on. But he saw everyone's expressions. Their eyes were widening and it was Mickey and Bugs who gave out orders.
"Goofy! You and Sylvia go downstairs and handle the shadows!" cried Mickey.
"Maxie old chum, you go lock that door for Sora and come with me." said Bugs. Max did as he was told and closed the door, but not before locking it.
He heard screaming and shouting and Sora didn't know what the heck was going on. He heard Goofy's guns a little moment later. He heard Mickey yell something out and their voices faded away.
All Sora heard in the room was silence. He did hear sounds of running feet, and a few explosions. Since the school was Acme Acres, there were dynamites and bombs that were available. Sora was about to rise up when he heard a faint noise by the door. He stood still and then he saw something that gave his skin goosebumps.
Underneath the door, something was slowly creeping it's way in. A black thing was crawling like a spider on the ground. Sora stood in bed and covered himself with the sheets. He slowly took a peak from time to time to see the black mass materliaze into something solid.
It looked human. Almost human. It looked like a giant ant. Like the ones from his nightmares. Only this one was taller with longer antennas and wider feet. Its eyes were yellow, the color of the sun. However, this creature was nothing like the ones from his nightmares. This one had a mouth. A human like mouth that was wide and it had sharp teeth, with saliva oozing from it's mouth.
It made a gross cat like hiss and made some uncomfortable moaning noises, almost like a human. It walked around the room, looking at every corner. Sora didn't move. He was still covered in his sheets.
The black creature also had long claws and it then sniffed the air, like a dog. Then, it got a whiff. It turned straight towards the bed. Sora could picture the animal getting closer towards him. He took a small peak and saw the creature get on top of the bed! And then it walked on Sora.
He felt the creature's body. It was rather heavy, kind of like a dog stepping on you. Sora tried not to cry. The creature was already close. Sora took a peak, knowing it may be his last. As he did, he saw the creature's mouth open wide, with all its teeth a mess and saliva dropping to his face.
"So, this is where I'll die. Everything I did was for nothing." thought Sora.
Just then, the door burst open. And a small purple tornado came in, making small roaring sounds. The tornado stopped and standing by the side of the bed was another creature. Not a Heartless, thank goodness, but a different type of creature. It was rather chubby, with big eyes that looked very crazy. It's fur was light purple all over and he too sported teeth. Not realistic and disturbing teeth like the Heartless. His were cartoon-like and not so sinister looking. He also sported a funny looking hat on his head.
Sora felt relieved to see him. He remembered who this was. He saw him in a dream not too long ago.
"Dizzy Devil." he said softly.
Dizzy growled at the Heartless and he jumped high into the air and made his little tornado, hitting the Heartless against the wall. The Heartless stood up and roared at Dizzy, showing it's horrible teeth and mouth. But Dizzy wasn't scared. Instead, he laughed, almost like he was making fun of him and he punched the creature across the face.
Just then, another tornado came in. A brown one. The Tasmanian Devil stopped and it angrily roared at the Heartless. This time, the shadow did freak out and tried to run, but not until Taz bit it on the side and began to shake it like a dog would a chew toy. Dizzy started to cheer for his father and Taz threw the shadow away. The shadow lay lifeless on the ground and vanished, revealing nothing but black smoke.
Taz pounded on his chest like Tarzan and so did Dizzy. The Tasmanian devils then made some grunting noises as if they were speaking to one another. Entering the room was Daffy, a black and tall duck. He looked much cooler than Donald and much more handsome to boot.
(Author's note: I was actually paid to write that sentence in.)
"Good work you two! The shadows have been kicked out of Acme Acres!" cried Daffy victorious.
Taz then made angry grunts at Daffy, waving his arms around.
"I did some fighting! Some." said Daffy.
Taz and Dizzy shook their heads and left the room in their tornadoes. Sora quickly got out of bed.
"What about Oblivion? Is that school safe?" he asked.
Daffy turned around in surprise. "You! You're the boy who keeps dreaming about us! You better go back to bed and stay there!" he cried.
"What happened to Oblivion?!" begged Sora.
"I-I don't know. Bugs is looking into it." said Daffy.
"My brothers are there! And so are some of my friends!" cried Sora.
"I'm sorry. But I don't think your school will be attacked. That place is ruled by Xehanort. You think that old coot will unleash an unholy army of demons to destroy HIS school?" asked Daffy.
Elmer Fudd then came into the room. "The coast is clear Daffy! Oblivion is still standing. We were the only ones who were attacked." said Elmer.
"You see! We were the only ones!" cried Daffy.
"Bug is going to get us all together. We should all talk in the room." said Elmer.
"I should get going." said Sora.
Daffy quickly stopped him. "You are in no shape to go, kid. You look tired and right now, we are still cleaning up the school."
"But… what if… something awful happened?" asked Sora.
Elmer left and Daffy hesitated to speak more. He then rolled his eyes and pulled Sora close so he can whisper in his ear.
"There's a secret passageway under the school. It will take you into Toon Town. There, you can get a cab and sneak into Oblivion. If you dare to go, be careful."
Daffy left the room and Sora fell back on the bed. He was thinking about his brothers. Vanitas, Roxas and Ventus, if he was still around. Namine, Denzel, Marlene, and Kairi. How were they? Do they know what was going on? Sora knew he had to go back and save them, one way or another.
