"So, do you remember our customers from a couple days ago?" Vanya looked at Five, holding a clipboard. "That depends, which ones? Be specific." Five muttered, not looking away from his work. Vanya stayed silent and decided not to even answer that question, "Well, the two of them are going to be arriving shortly to work their brand-new shift here at the cafe. How exciting!" Vanya told him. "Nice. Hope it works out." Five replied, putting a box of napkins on the shelf. "Their names are Hazel and Cha Cha. I made'em little name tags and everything!" Vanya held up the said name tags.
"Mhm." Five nodded and continued.
The door bell rang as the two came into the cafe, making Five finally turn away from his work for the first time in about half an hour. Oh, those customers. Two donuts, a coffee and an espresso. Why didn't she just say so?
The two walked up to the counter, who were then greeted by Vanya, Five by her side. "Are you excited for your new shift here, you two?" Vanya asked, handing them the name tags. "I could care less, really. Just doing it for the money." Cha Cha glanced away, avoiding eye contact.
"I'm doing the same, but I admit, I am pretty excited." Hazel grinned at Vanya's friendly greeting. Vanya nervously laughed at Cha Cha's response, then replied to Hazel's response; "Well that's good. I'm glad. Five will teach you anything you need to know about the place and where things are, so don't hesitate to ask if you need any help." Vanya explained.
Five looked up at Vanya with a look of 'why did you assign this to me' in his eyes.
Vanya headed off, going to check the stock in the storage room. "Well, you heard her. Ask me anything you need to know and I'll help out." Five said before turning around and going back to placing things on the shelf...
The cafe was busy today, Five and Vanya were thankful to have Hazel and Cha Cha working alongside them now, because just the two Hargreaves siblings alone would have resulted in having to call in Hargreaves sibling back-up. That could have gone one or two ways, could have been lovely, or have been a nightmare.
Cha Cha seemed to be a little on the Work Now, Talk Later schedule while Hazel was more on the Hey, let's talk and we can do work later schedule. Five found it funny they were both so different from each other. "So." Hazel piped up, which made Five perk from the table he was washing. "How long have you been working here, uhhhh, what's your name again? Finn? Fern?" Hazel asked. "My name's Five." Five hissed, "And I've been working here since it opened, it's me and my sister's cafe." He looked back at the table and scrubbed it.
"Oh." Hazel nodded.
"Odd name you got."
Five shrugged, "I don't pay much attention to it. Hey hand me that Clorox wipe over there, Hazel." Five pointed to a canister of Clorox wipes with a wipe sticking out of it. Hazel pulled on it and pulled out like, three connected to each other, then handed it to Five. "I said one. ...but thank you." Five began wiping the seats down with the three Clorox wipes.
Meanwhile, Cha Cha was working with Vanya. "So, like..." Cha Cha looked around, waiting for coffee to brew behind her. "Working with your brother. How is it like? Annoying? Peaceful? Are you two in-sync with work flow?" Cha Cha asked her.
"Um, well." Vanya was cooking at the stove top. "I mean, I guess we get along good." She smiled. "He likes to stick to himself for the most part. He's a quiet kid, y'know?" Vanya said.
"Makes sense." Cha Cha glanced at the coffee maker and took the coffee pot out of it and began pouring it into one of the ceramic mugs with the cafe's symbol engraved in its' white ceramic. "Me and Hazel have been working together for a while. He's...okay." Cha Cha shrugged, setting the coffee pot done. "Honestly, I'm glad I can head here in the kitchen and stay away from him when needed. Back at our old job, he was constantly around." She rolled her eyes. "Didn't you say you used to work at an office?" Vanya turned the stove top down.
"Yeah. Commission Corps." Cha Cha replied shortly.
"Interesting. I don't think I could work in an office. Sounds too...ah, boring? Is that the word?" Vanya looked at the stove top again and continued cooking. "Pretty much what you're looking for, I'm sure." Cha Cha grabbed the cup and put it on a silver tray.
"I'm heading out, don't burn yourself or something. If you were Hazel, he probably would have caught the kitchen on fire already." Cha Cha walked out of the room. "Good...to...know?" Vanya awkwardly laughed and finished her cooking.
