Chapter 18
Toon Town was many things. Friendly, crazy, zany, cartoony, animated, and lively. At times, it was a violent place full of explosives, bombs, falling anvils, or pianos. It was massive place. It felt more like a city than a town. A lot of people lived there, people Sora has seen in dreams. Toon Town was one of the many towns in the world Sora knew of. Next to Toon Town, about a half hour drive from there was Cartoon City. Most of the staff from Acme Acres came from that place.
Next there was Green Slimeopolis. It is said that the inhabitants there for some reason get showers of green slime. It was also home to one of Sora's favorite celebrities from TV. A talking sea sponge and his friend seastar host a podcast that Sora liked to watch. It was called the Krusty Krew.
Another town was Twilight Town, where Sora and most of his friends and family came from. However, Sora and his brothers were originally born from the sea port Destiny Islands. It was next door to Twilight Town and Traverse Town.
As Sora walked into the city at night, he heard a few loud bangs. He turned to see a cartoon car driving fast, while being chased by a cartoon cops. Sora hid in the darkness of the streets and he continued walking until he found himself in a more secluded part of town. It wasn't really a good place to go. It was known as the Red Zone. Here, adults would frequent these places due to the nightclubs and spicy stuff going on there. Sora walked around, trying not to get any attention.
And then, Sora came to halt as he saw a person walk in front of a building and Sora instantly recognized her. Kairi! She was wearing a big pink raincoat, and she had a mask on to cover her mouth.
Sora wanted to call out for her, but he noticed the building she entered. Betty's. Sora's heart began to beat. Kairi was working at Betty's? Oh boy. Betty's was legendary among the teenage boys at Oblivion. Many would say that the iconic Jessica Rabbit worked there, as a hostess. And if Kairi was working there… she could get in trouble. And she may be with the wrong person! Sora started to imagine all different types of scenarios. He quickly tried to walk up front into the building. That is until a bouncer pushed him.
"Hey. No kids allowed. Beat it." said gorilla girl, wearing a funny looking tight suit.
Sora recognized her face. She too was in a dream. "Terk." said Sora.
"Yeah. You saw my name tag. Now get lost kid! This is a no kid zone!" said Terk.
"Please, my friend went in there." said Sora.
"There's another kid in there! Geez, how did he walk past me!?" Terk was saying. She grabbed a walkie talkie and began to speak through it.
"Security, there's a teenage boy inside the club. Kick him out if you see him. I got one of his friends here." said Terk.
Sora rolled his eyes and turned around. There was no use arguing with Terk. Then he had an idea. He decided to go into the alley and see if he could sneak behind the back door. He was hoping to do this cliche move. He saw it in a movie once. As he opened the door and walked inside, he heard a few voices coming from the dressing rooms. Sora realized that the dressing room back door had no lock. Talk about dangerous! But now was not the time to be thinking about security. Kairi was in danger, and Sora needed to rescue her.
He slowly tip toed past the dressing rooms, overhearing a few conversations.
"And he took me out to dinner last week. My husband is a charmer." said Duchess, a large white cat, putting on some makeup.
"Well, my boyfriend is so deadbeat, he wouldn't even consider taking me out. He would rather play his video games and not do anything productive." said Tina, a duck with brown hair.
"He can't be all bad. He defends the town." said Lola Bunny, shrugging.
A person reading a newspaper, while sitting on a chair suddenly put her paper down to reveal her face.
"Want some advice? Break up." said Megara.
"By the way, did Betty pay you all?" asked Tina.
"She did. Why? Did you not receive anything my dear?" asked Duchess.
"I'm just asking. Betty has been so busy running this place, she's thinking of putting this business in the center of town. Far from the Red Zone." said Tina.
"That's wonderful! Imagine children coming to our shows!" said Duchess.
Sora gasped. "Children? Coming to those shows? What shows?" thought Sora.
"Yes. We always give the wrong impression here." said Tina.
"I don't like it when Herc comes to see me here. It's too dangerous for good and decent men to be here in this part of town." said Megara.
"I know darling." said Duchess.
Sora was confused, but he didn't want to hear more. He had to find Kairi. Was she in trouble? Were those women forcing her to be here? Perhaps. Perhaps not. The people in the dressing room were actually nice and good people. Lola and Tina were the girlfriends of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. Duchess was a mother of three and Megara's husband was the local hero, Hercules. There was no way these women were…..
"What are you doing?" asked a woman's voice. Sora turned around and saw a big and tall beautiful woman in a sparkly red dress and deep red hair. Her lips were puffy and her body was exaggeratedly beautiful.
"Jessica…" Sora was saying, almost out of breath and sweating. He was totally giving a wrong impression.
"Uhg. Pervert!" said Jessica. She then slapped Sora across the face and pulled his ear.
"Ugly little peeping tom. Your mother should be ashamed of you!" said Jessica angrily. She opened the door and the women gasped.
"What's all this?!" cried Duchess.
"Girls, we have a peeping tom in here!" said Jessica.
"Gross! How did he get in here?" asked Lola.
"The door! That damn door does not have a lock! Betty keeps calling for a replacement, but you know Toon Town facilities. They are run by monkeys!" said Jessica.
"Oh dear." said Duchess.
"What should we do with him?" asked Megara.
"Lock him up. When the show is over, we'll call the police." said Jessica.
"No! You can't! I want to see her!" cried Sora. The women gasped aloud.
"See HER? You came to see her wardrobe you disgusting pig!" said Megara.
"What's going on here?" asked another woman. A tall woman with long blue hair. And next to her was… Sora shivered at her appearance. A red lobster like person with a black goatee.
"Marge! Him! We have a peeping tom enter the building!" said Jessica, still pulling Sora's ear.
"My my, he needs to be punished. I know! Send him over to my city, in Cartoon City where I will punish him most severely!" cackled Him, the red lobster creature.
"He looks like he came from Twilight Town. We will call his mother to come pick him up." said Marge.
Him scoffed. "You're too soft. Way too soft. I feel like you have lost your edge my dear." said Him.
"Unlike you, she's never gone to jail." said Tina.
"Actually, I have. A couple times. What are we talking about?" asked Marge.
"Ladies! Please! We need to get ready for the show! Kairi will be up here to tell us that everything is set!" said Jessica.
"And Betty would throw a fit if she finds out." said Lola.
"No she won't. We have this boy. We'll call the cops, then his Mom, so he can feel total embarrassment!" said Megara.
"This can't be happening." said Sora.
"Oh yes. This is happening. This is what happens to boys who get too curious for their own good!" snapped Jessica. All the women cheered and Sora was thrown in a closet. And the door was locked.
