Five and Vanya could only pray this went well.
Today was a Monday. Five and Vanya was fresh out of the weekend break and here was Diego and Luther entering the cafe. Five and Vanya couldn't count how many times they exchanged looks with each other, eyeing the other two siblings.
Diego and Luther were known for...fighting and honestly the cafe was not the best place to be doing that if they chose to do that here. Maybe, just maybe they would stay peaceful and just stay for a few minutes and leave. "Heeeey Diego! Luther!" Vanya said, a nervous tone masking her voice thickly. "Hey Vanya. Cafe's looking nice." Diego perked his head up as a way to wave without using his hands, since they were in his pockets at the time.
"Smells good, what are you cooking?" Luther looked around, sniffing.
"Strawberry Scones." Five said, leaning onto the counter. "New recipe we've come up with."
"Nice. Accepting taste-testers?" Luther raised a brow, jokingly. "Always worried about food, aren't you?" Diego bitterly added. Luther elbowed him, and Diego elbowed him back.
Five and Vanya exchanged looks. Again.
"Yes, we are. Just because you two are so special to us, isn't that right Five?" Vanya looked at him. "Yep, consider it a discount." Five winked. Luther sat down on one of the bar stools while Diego sat on a different one, a little farther away from Luther.
Hazel and Cha Cha perked their heads out of the kitchen both at the same time. "Are these your brothers you've been talking about, Vanya?" Cha Cha asked, while Hazel waved at them. "Mhm, this is Luther, and this is Diego." Vanya nodded at them, "Luther, Diego, this is Hazel and Cha Cha, we hired them not too long ago to help us work at the cafe." Vanya explained to the others. "Right. Nice to meet you." Diego crossed his arms and leaned on the counter. "Hey." Luther waved back at Hazel.
"Mind if you get those strawberry scones out here? Luther and Diego's wanting to test'em out." Five asked the two coworkers. They nodded and disappeared for a moment into the kitchen to go get the tray of scones. "So, how have you two've been today?" Vanya asked, smiling brightly. Luther shrugged and Diego mumbled something that sounded like the word good. Luther then widened his eyes a bit, "Actually, I wanted to tell you two something. I had this crazy dream this morning." Luther put his palm on the counter.
Five nearly dropped the coffee mug he was drinking out of. "Excuse me?"
"Yeah, crazy dream. I got really hairy, and strong." Luther nodded. "Weird combination." Diego muttered. "It was like I was an ape or something, it was kind of creepy. Didn't last long, the dream, thankfully." Luther added. "So you were the ape who escaped the zoo earlier this week?" Diego looked at Luther just as seriously. Five and Vanya exchanged looks again.
Luther shoved Diego and nearly knocked him off the bar stool, in-which Diego shoved Luther back, but Hazel and Cha Cha arrived with a plate with strawberry scones on it. Vanya grabbed them and quickly put them down. "Strawberry scones are ready you two." Vanya said, nervously messing with her shirt. Luther looked at the plate and grabbed one, "Thanks." He then sniffed it and took a bite. Diego took one, then Five, and then Vanya.
Hazel and Cha Cha did too.
They all taste-tested it together.
It was really tasty, they all liked it.
So by the end of the shift, Five found himself arranging the letters on the cafe menu to put strawberry scones on it, with a price. But even with this small distraction...
The dreams, the dreams...
First Five, twice, then Klaus, and now Luther?
