Chapter 21
Sora got to work the following morning, helping old man Hook with his chore. After he was done, along with the other lost kids, Sora decided to ask some of them, out of curiosity.
"Christopher who now?" asked Cubby.
"Don't worry. Forget about it." said Sora, after getting different types of answers. He then decided to ask Hook, but he thought better of it. Hook may not have the answers he was looking for.
He and Sora then walked towards the cage, where the pool house of the crocodiles were. Sora remembered that Hook was terrified of crocodiles in his nightmares. Surprising that he wasn't in this reality. The old lady woke up and stretched her arms.
"Your crocodiles have been making growling noises all night. I hardly slept." complained the old lady.
"Yes, I need to teach them etiquette. But I do wonder, woman, did you "smile" at them?" asked Hook with a toothy grin.
"You should learn etiquette." said the old lady, pointing a finger at Hook. He then cackled and unlocked the cage where the crocodiles were.
"These uncivilized beasts are part of my hostile takeover of Toon Town. Today, everyone will kneel before their master and lord, Sir James Hook!" declared he.
Sora wanted to say something, but the old lady held his hand and looked him in the eyes. She was quietly telling him to be quiet. Sora got the message. Kairi stepped out, and the lost boys were all clapping their hands together suddenly.
"He's here! He's here!" cried the kids.
"What? Where is he?" asked Hook.
All of a sudden, a huge monster truck appeared out of nowhere and made loud noises that made everyone cover their ears, even the kids.
Coming out of the huge monster truck; which sported the largest tires Sora has ever seen, and smoke coming from the top of it's head, was a small little man with weird looking goggles. He had a large grey coat and his hands were covered in what appeared to be dirt.
"Mole, you old man! How are you!?" cried Hook.
"Back from my journeys and I'm full of life!" cried Mole with glee.
Sora's eyes widened. He saw Mole in a nightmare. He was in the Atlantis dream. And he was an ally for the good. So why was he with a bad guy like old man Hook?
Mole looked at Sora and didn't say a word. But Sora knew Mole saw him. Did he recognize him or something?
"I brought the demolitions you requested as well everything else. Toon Town will be yours." said Mole.
"Yes! It shall be mine!" said Hook, waving his arms up into the air.
"However, there is this small manner of payment." said Mole.
"Yes. Name your price. I'll make it up to you when I take over the banks." said Hook.
"What? You mean to pay me AFTER the takeover? Ripoff artist!" cried Mole.
Hook laughed and the lost boys surrounded him.
"I knew you would say that. Boys, seize the fat one!" cried Hook.
The kids then tied Mole with rope and covered his mouth with a sock. "Take him back to the cabin and lock him up." said Hook.
Mole muffled in protest and Kairi ran up to get the sock out of his mouth. "You're horrible!" cried Kairi.
"Horrible is a compliment for me! I was already planning on betraying you Mole! Your monster truck was actually what I wanted. Kids, get on that thing! Everything else should be there." said Hook.
The lost kids got on the monster truck and they all cheered like wild animals, holding dynamites and bombs up in the air.
Mole shook his head and smiled. "I forgot to tell you this one tiny detail my friend. All these items are voice activated. They only turn on when I give the command." said Mole.
"Is that so? Well then, I guess you'll have to come with us and you will be forced to activate everything!" cried Hook.
Mole closed his mouth and shook his head. He was smiling all the way through and Sora felt like he had something up his sleeve. Something good. Kairi also got it and she decided to let things play out. The old lady on the other hand couldn't resist.
"Let me guess. What they have in the monster truck are not real. They are actually all fake are they?" said the old lady.
Mole quickly shook his head no and Hook screamed. "What is this? You mean to tell me you were going to sell me imitation dynamites and bombs?!"
Mole rolled his eyes beneath his goggles and spoke. "Toon Town is my home Hook. You really think I was going to let you destroy it? And also, that hair of yours is fake. I bet it's a wig."
"You miserable fool!" cried Hook.
Sora, Kairi and even the old lady began to laugh. "So what genius?" asked Kairi to Hook.
"Don't sass me girl! I have a plan B. The crocodiles! I have a mutagen that will grow them to tremendous size!" declared Hook.
Sora laughed even more. "Mutagen? Really? If you had that, why didn't you do it a long time ago?" asked Sora.
"Because… because I felt like it!" said Hook.
"That's your reason? Sounds very stupid if you ask me." said Kairi.
"Teenagers! You think you know everything! That's why I hired kids to do a grown man's work! Kids are much more reliable than a couple of good for nothing brats surviving puberty!" cried Hook.
The lost boys all started to cheer behind Hook and Mole untied himself. How he did it, Kairi and Sora missed it. "Where is your mutagen? You are clearly bluffing." said Mole.
Hook smiled and pulled out his phone. He dialed it and started to speak.
"Hello. Yes. Yzma my dear. How are you? What? I don't remember doing that! No. No! My dear, all I ask is…. I know I owe you money, but believe me, this time, Toon Town is mine! Do you have any mutagens I may borrow… for old times sake? Yes? Hello? Hello? Yzma? Pussy cat? Yzma!" cried Hook.
Mole shook his head and smiled. "So, no mutagen?"
Sora and Kairi started to laugh and Hook was starting to sweat bullets. "T-then… plan C! Plan C! Yes! I have the lost boys! They can wreak havoc in town!" cried Hook.
Just then, the lost boys started to scream. A scream so loud, that it hurt everyone's ears. Everyone turned to see a large humanoid creature appear out of nowhere. Razor sharp teeth, long black shadowy body, and long claws with those ant like antennas. Sora instantly reconized the creature.
"No. It can't be." said Sora.
"What is that?" asked Kairi, barely forming words.
"That is a Heartless. They devour hearts." said Sora.
Hook quickly went inside the monster truck, started it, and quickly drove off with the kids and his precious crocodiles in tow. Mole, the Old Lady, Kairi and Sora remained behind, staring at the large monster that was walking around them casually.
"It's from your nightmares?" asked Kairi.
"Yes. They should be in my nightmares. Not here." said Sora, not looking away from the Heartless, who was stalking them like some cheetah or lion.
Mole reached for his pockets and didn't find anything that could help. "It looks like your up." said Mole to the old lady.
The old lady nodded and stood in front of the Heartless. In that moment, light shone from the old lady, her ugliness melting away. And her old green robe vanished as well. Standing in front of the Heartless was the most beautiful woman anyone has ever seen. She was tall, radiant, and wearing an elegant gown and crown.
"Light and darkness are enemies. Darkness cannot exist, nor will it ever hurt someone. You will vanish into the abyss, where thou belong." said the woman.
She opened her hand and the Heartless was consumed in flames, killing it instantly, turning it into ash.
"Who are you?!" cried Kairi in shock. Sora knew who this woman was. She was known as.. ..
"I am an Enchantress. I have been protecting light in our world for a long time. But the darkness has appeared, ready to destroy what we have." said the Enchantress.
