Chapter Three

Yvette wasn't happy about what she was hearing, in fact she wasn't happy that she had to be here at all but she was and the person to blame was her ex-husband James. She had been a fool for falling in love with a Jones, she was an even bigger a fool for still being in love with the handsome man sitting across from her.

"What exactly do you suggest I do about her wandering?" She asked looking a this handsome features.

"I think it's time we told her the truth." James answered hoping like hell his ex wouldn't explode on him for saying that.

"Excuse me?" She asked sitting up and leaning in closer to make sure she heard correctly.

"She ran into the pack two days ago, her memory was altered but I don't think it worked." He replied looking around when he saw her eyes change slightly before going back to their normal hue of chocolate brown.

"You had one job!" She said through gritted teeth feeling anger rushing throughout her body and her breathing increasing, she knew they should've met somewhere less crowded because she wanted so badly to scream.

"I did my damn job, had you not been such a cold bitch and treated her like your daughter instead of your competition we wouldn't be in this situation!" James spat back.

"I had no choice! She was a damn baby who…" She paused taking a deep breath and lowering her voice. "She couldn't contain her energy, do you know how hard it is to combat an uncontrollable force alone? Her hating me kept the power she has down, my mother did it with me and I knew I would have to do with her."

"No what your mother did was show you how to contain it and then stifle it until you were ready to learn, she's been stifling it for too long and now it's manifesting in insomnia. She needs sleep and I can't give that to her there, she's not safe anymore and we were lucky that she didn't lose control especially since she was drinking." James replied and for the first time he saw her soften slightly.

"I… I hadn't realized it got that bad." Yvette admitted softly.

"She doesn't sleep at night anymore and she runs on fumes during the day, we have to let her unlock this now before she can't control it." James explained.

"She might not be able to contain it James… when I finally embraced my powers I ended up burning my family house's down and three of the neighbor's houses. I was sixteen… she's twenty-two and has been fighting against it unknowingly… it's going to be dangerous."

"No it won't, she's not like you her anger isn't the catalyst to getting hers started. She's gentle and tired, we can't let her keep going like this and if she gets caught in the woods again… she might not get so lucky again." James said letting out a worried sigh.

"What aren't you telling me James?" She questioned narrowing her eyes at him.

"She ended up wandering into the Steelridge Pack territory, the Alpha helped her…" He answered looking at her steadily.

"Steelridge." She repeated.

"Yes." James replied seeing the look of anger cross her face.

"Vette…"

"Where is she now?" She asked and James sighed.

"She's at home, well my house." He answered and Yvette shot him a look before taking a deep breath and he watched her brown eyes turn golden for a brief moment. He knew what she was doing and hated that she didn't believe him when he told her where she was, she was locating her and searching her mind for what really happened.

He always hated when she would do that to him because it felt invasive but Mercedes couldn't feel it, she was like her mother except more powerful. Yvette Grey was a witch or a witch which ever termed sounds good but she was powerful and the descendant of even more powerful witches… until she got exiled. Witches being exiled is rare and it's even more rare for them to still maintain their powers after it happened but her former coven tried to strip her of her powers only for her to end up absorbing a majority of theirs.

James wasn't remotely as powerful as his ex-wife, in fact he wasn't a witch at all. He was a healer, came from a long line of healers that aided in helping the more magically inclined individuals in Cider Hills and what Yvette didn't know was that his family also used to have a long standing alliance with the Steelridge Wolves but something happened and they cut all ties with them. He was never told what happened but whatever it was cost them the other half of the town they'd once owned and this was why James was worried about Mercedes wandering into their territory.

Mercedes was the best of them, she could heal unknowingly and she had powers that surpassed her mothers. She was also a threat and that was where their issue came into play, she couldn't defend herself and she wouldn't know why she would be viewed as one. Her powers were a threat to her mother's former coven and her ability to heal meant she was stronger than most but without the knowledge she was a bird in a snake pit.

"She's not at home and her memory is fully intact. You didn't erase them?" Yvette asked harshly.

"I wasn't the one that performed it on her… it was one of the wolves." He admitted and winced when she jerked forward before stopping herself.

"Those incompetent beast touched my child?" She growled out.

"Don't call them that."

"They could know about her, about everything and you wait until NOW to say something." Yvette snapped before getting up and rushing out of the restaurant they were in, James dropped a few bills down and went after her but she was already in her car speeding in whatever direction she knew Mercedes was headed.

"Well shit."James said before going to his car and trying to catch up to her.

Sam

"Sam, son what you pulled in there earlier was… you can't throw around exiling a Fabray like that." Dwight said sitting down at the dinning table looking at his son disapprovingly.

"She needs to understand her place in the pack, she doesn't get to argue down everything I say because she feels entitled. Also I wasn't pulling anything, had I allowed her to continue to challenge me I would have looked weak. Her position on the council is about to change significantly to further show that I as the Alpha will not be disrespected any longer." Sam replied taking a sip of whiskey.

"You're anger and need to prove your authority is why the think you are weak, you must mate and it must happen during this satyriasis." Mary chimed in shooting him a knowing look.

"I have more important things to handle. My mate will come when she comes but until then I have to lead and ensure the entire pack is safe from this threat." Sam countered feeling his anger growing.

"What exactly did you not tell the council?" Dwight questioned sensing his son holding something back and Sam looked at him debating if he should tell him the whole truth.

Who ever, whatever this threat is… they're using blood to mark. They aren't using their scent which is why I didn't pick up on it at first but those campers… the ones that missing a while ago. Turned up lacking blood.

Sam couldn't tell his mother because she would over react and hadn't told Santana yet because she would suggest something completely outlandish. He needed a moment to think but he couldn't with everyone focus on his mate or lack thereof. Dwight shot Sam a shocked look before nodding slowly understanding why Sam was so testy even though he knew a part of it was because his powers were slowly fading but this threat was a bigger concern and he knew it was time to reach out to other packs and maybe a few old allies.

"Okay son, we'll be leaving you be safe out there tonight." Dwight said standing and pulling Sam into a hug.

If you need me just call.

"Okay sweetheart, we'll see you soon." Mary said patting his face gently before they both walked out of Sam's house.

Seems your little visitor from a few nights ago just hit the perimeter, should I send her away?

Is she drunk?

Nope, seems pretty sober to me.

Leave her to me.

Sam ran his hand over his face before getting the location from Santana and heading out to find the woman who insisted on putting herself into harms way.

Mercedes

Mercedes could feel she was close but she also had the weird feeling she was being watched, she stopped and looked around carefully scanning her surrounding before seeing that no one was around her. She also realized she was very much alone in the woods, so deep into the woods that she didn't have any cell service and if that didn't worry her she was fifty percent sure she might be a little lost.

She started to walk again before the feeling of being watched rushed over her again making her stop and quickly look around but she didn't see anyone, she narrowed her eyes thinking maybe she should turn around but decided to keep moving forward and when she turned around she let out a loud scream.

"Who sneaks up on people like that!" She shouted and Sam just smirked at her which seemed to only anger her more.

"Can you not speak?" She asked looking up at him without an ounce of fear and every bit of the spitfire he remembered from a two nights ago only this time she wasn't drunk and stumbling everywhere.

"I can, why are you this deep in the woods alone?" He questioned and Mercedes just looked at him for minute realizing his voice sounded sexier out loud.

"I-I'm looking for something." She answered honestly.

"And what exactly are you looking for?" He questioned again invading her personal space taking in her sweet scent, noticing the hairs on her arm stand up and goosebumps form.

"A house." She answered honestly again before a confused look crossed her face because that wasn't what she wanted to say.

"Oh really and-"

"Move away from my child!" They heard behind them and Sam looked up the beautiful woman standing there.

"Moma?" Mercedes asked turning around seeing her mother standing there looking… different. She looked like her mother but her eyes weren't brown, they were gold and she saw that her hands were glowing a soft golden color as well.

"Mercedes baby come with me now, it's not safe here for you to be with that… thing." Yvette answered keeping her eyes trained on Sam who's own eyes were now fixed on Yvette before shifting to James who was running up with his hands raised.

"Vette, this is not our land you can't just come here like this." James warned right as a deep growl escaped the man standing behind his daughter.

"Mercedes, calm down." James said taking a step forward only stopping when the man threw a protective arm around her.

"Son you need to take a step back from her if you don't want anything to happen to you." James warned and Sam moved in front of her keeping his eyes trained on the both of them before feeling heat on his back and when he turned around he saw the Mercedes with a bright golden glow surrounding her.

"What's happening?" Mercedes asked feeling her skin tingling and a rush of energy that made her gasp.

"MOVE AWAY FROM HER!" James shouted but Sam didn't, he just looked at her in awe before placing his hand on her shoulder.

Calm.

Mercedes looked at him trying to control her breathing and figure out what the hell was going on but him touching her made everything elevate inside and she felt her skin starting to burn before the feeling began pulsating and Sam had no choice but to step back.

"Mercedes listen to me, you can't lose control." James said calmly trying not to show his worry.

"What, what's happening to me?" Mercedes asked before grunting, whatever that was happening was slowly ripping her apart on the inside.

"Baby listen to me, I made a mistake by being cold towards you and for that I'm sorry." Yvette said moving closer. "I didn't want you to know about how powerful you are because… they would come for you."

"What are you talking about!" Mercedes shouted feeling like her body was about to rip in half from the heat growing around her.

"Vette get to the point." James said inching closer.

"I'm trying!" Yvette snapped letting out a rushed breath. "You have powers and they're… vast. You used to go into these rages and they were disruptive but I could contain them, I would make you forget and then I would isolate you because it was the only way to get you to calm down. I can show you how to control them, how to use them properly if you jus-" Yvette stopped when she saw the glare in her daughter's beautiful eyes, they were the same color as hers.

"James if you're going to do anything now is the time." Yvette shouted before using her powers to move Sam away from what was about to happen.

James grabbed Mercedes' hands using all his force to calm her but it burned like hell and he wasn't regenerating fast enough to combat the influx if energy that was flowing from her into him. He felt his body temperature starting to rise causing him to squeezing her hands harder, he focused all his energy on calming her down but something wasn't right this time.

"Mercy, kiddo you have to calm down." James grunted out feeling his self struggling to maintain control.

"Daddy what is this?" She asked before a huge wave of pure energy flowed throughout her body and something in her mind snapped. Small flashes of her childhood started showing even parts where she didn't remember popped up causing her to scream out because of all the past rage she had hidden away.

"James you have to let go!" Yvette warned.

"I. CAN. HELP. HER!" James grunted but he felt his self ripping at the seams and before Yvette could get to him there was a burst of golden energy and everything went black.

Soooooo... the next chapter will be a subchapter and it will be short! It'll be a break down of characters and their powers!
