A couple of weeks have passed and Mikhail and I have no leads whatsoever. We started to stalk the nightlife here in hopes someone had information on Sonyas whereabouts. Well more like hunting Strigoi for nothing, at least we were ridding the streets of dangerous creatures I suppose. So here I am laying on the most comfortable bed I've ever laid on in my life, trying to figure out what to do next. My mind began to wander as I traced my fingers over my little bump, which has definitely popped in the last week. It's hard to believe that I'm so far along already and had no idea but I'm so attached to this pregnancy, but the further along I get the more I start to feel emotional about not having Dimitri here to share it with, even Lissa too. She has been a massive part of my life for so long and she has no idea, making me ache.
Should I check in on her? I've avoided it since I've left and it has been hard, the pull to check everything's okay. Plus to get a glimpse of Dimitri, and I hate to say it but I miss Sparky and Adrian, I think I just miss people. Abe was away "on business" and Mikhail has been spending every waking minute trying his contacts for any information to help us.
Before I knew it I was in Lissas kitchen and she was talking to Christian about some political issue. Can't say I was paying too much attention because of who was in the corner. Damn, will I ever have a normal reaction to seeing him?
"We should take a break from all of the drama Lissa, we haven't had time to ourselves since everything that's happened lately." His voice seemed to drift off at the end, like he was too scared to upset her. That's odd.
"I can't just leave when things get hard! I'm not Rose!" Ouch.
"Lissa that's not fair and you know it, she was hurting too, and she has to look after herself especially now…" he stopped himself short before he said anything he shouldn't.
"What?! What do you know?! Have you been talking to her?"
"Lissa why are you so angry?" It was then I realised how much darkness was surrounding her, I pulled some from her, mindful of the baby. She immediately slumped down in her chair and sighed.
"Rose?" She said. She knew I was here, there's no hiding now.
"Thank you." She whispered.
"I'm sorry." She turned to Christian as she spoke and it was then that I noticed Dimitri suddenly paying closer attention to her.
"You're right, let's take some time to recharge." Everything that just happened already forgotten. I then pulled out of her head. I decided to call Christian a couple of minutes later.
"Hello?"
"Hey Sparky." I smiled, I really did miss him. He was sometimes a better friend than most.
"How are you? Are you two safe?" He asked, I know he was asking about the baby but to anyone listening it would sound like he was asking about Mikhail.
"We're good, you should see the baby growing, you can actually tell I'm pregnant if you're looking." I had a smile to my words without realising.
"Look at Rosie going all soft at the mention of someone else." He laughed as he spoke.
"Shut up." He knew I was joking and it felt so good to talk about this to someone.
"I wish it didn't have to be like this. In a few weeks I'm going to be a mother and those closest to me still have no idea."
"We are still here you know, you could come back beforehand. Lissa and I have been talking about taking some time to recharge, maybe we could come see you before the date or after?"
"Can I ask you something? Do you think it's a mistake I haven't told Dimitri?"
"I can't answer for you because you know him better, but don't you think he'll be upset when he finds out after?"
"I think that's what's bothering me but it's gotten to the point that I don't know how. I don't think he'll believe me or want to talk to me to begin with."
"I can't answer that but I can tell you one thing, since you've left he's been different, sometimes I see glimpses of the person you've spoken of. Though he's never shown himself to us in that way before either. No matter what he says, he couldn't hide his reaction to Lissa saying your name earlier. I honestly think he's suspicious of who I'm talking to right now."
"It'll only be a matter of time before he finds out we've been talking. I hate to admit it, and I think it's the baby but God I miss them."
"You know they're just next door, I could get them for you if you wanted to talk."
"What the hell would I say? Oh hey Dimitri, I'm pregnant and the baby is yours because I'm somehow messed up."
"Haha maybe not like that."
"I can't tell him over the phone, I can't even talk to him at all."
"Rosie please don't hate me?" His tone of voice made me panic.
"Sparky what did you do?" I'm starting to panic.
"Roza?"
"Oh God!" Lissas darkness is swirling in my brain so fast. Suddenly my world was spinning too fast and my world faded to black.
"Rose!"
