HI! So I decided against doing a sub chapter until after! Craziness will happen.

Chapter 6

The town was dark for three days and no one could understand why, it was like the sun refused to shine. Everyone started to wonder if a storm was brewing but after the second day with any rain or wind for that matter everyone started to get suspicious and worried. Everyone, including the women of the Divine Spirit Coven, were alerted to the darkness that started to surround them immediately but they were also tipped off by the surge of power flowing through the small town.

They waited three days before deciding to intervene, when they saw no end in sight for the sudden darkness they immediately sought out the one person that could do this, Yvette. Josephine was old and tired but she understood why she was still around, she had to prevent the worst from happening.

Three days ago…

"Yo Sam, we have a problem." Matt said into his phone.

"What kind of problem?"

"The woman you asked me to follow, yeah there's a strange energy around her home and there's-"

"Matt?"

"Hello?" Sam shouted but heard nothing before walking out of his office and he saw several of his pack members laying on the ground, he quickly went over to Santana and shook her but didn't get a response. He checked for a pulse and there was one which only gave him a moment of relief because when her ventured out of the pack house he saw the guards laying sprawled out on the ground.

He quickly dialed his parents number but after not getting an answer he decided to head to their home to see if they were like the rest of the pack and when no one answered he knew they must have all been knocked out. He wasn't entirely sure why he hadn't been affected. He started to go back inside when he saw a woman standing there, she was an older woman who seemed to be waiting.

"Hello?" He shouted and she just continued to look at him and for some reason his claws began to come through, he didn't know why but his body was on high alert.

"They will do you no good." She spoke and her voice sounded outer worldly. Her hair was stark white and long, she looked so serene and still that it creeped him out.

"Who are you?" He asked and the hairs on the back of his neck stood straight up when her eyes flickered to gold. Gold like the woman in the woods.

"I mean no harm but your father hasn't told you everything and now we're all in great danger. The woman you met is your mate but she is also a danger to you, you have to show her the light… she feels betrayed and the longer she stays that way the harder it'll be to get her to come to the light."

"How… What am I supposed to do? I don't even know her." Sam asked, annoyed and confused.

"Be the light." She said simply before she was gone. Sam rolled his eyes, not having time to deal with whatever this was, nor did he have time to figure out what the hell the light was.

Seems you have a lot more than you can handle, maybe I'll be the light for her… heard mixed blood was good for you.

Sam froze when he heard the unknown voice crash through his head, he looked around but he couldn't see anyone else.

Tsk, Tsk you really think you're the only one tied to the little bomb? Your father failed to tell you that she'll choose the true Alpha and bestow a great power upon him.

Sam's ears perked when he heard a rustle to the right of him and without a second thought he shifted, his large frame turned into an even larger wolf. He fixed his ears on the rustling and took off in that direction, he loved running in his wolf form. He was fast and the ground shifted underneath his paws, his breathing was steady and he was hyper aware of his surroundings.

He heard the shift to his left and quickly followed before realizing he'd reached the end of a bend and fell straight into the river connecting the forest and Cider Hills. He didn't have enough time to shift back before making impact, he knew it was going to cause great damage but he didn't see the rocks were there until he felt them against his body. One particular rock was sharp and dug into his flesh causing him to let out a deep howl before hitting his head and things went black.

AHH-WOOOOO…

Mercedes heard it, then she felt an imaginable amount of pain before feeling like she couldn't breathe. It felt like her lungs were filling up with water and she couldn't stop it, no matter how hard she tried to breathe it was strangled. She looked at her father who was lying on the ground looking almost lifeless then she turned to her mother who was looking at her frozen.

"H-help m-me." She struggled to get out but her mother didn't reply, she didn't even move or blink.

Concentrate on air.

Mercedes didn't know where the voice was coming from but did as it told her to do. She tried hard to focus on air but it wasn't working and she felt herself getting weak from lack of oxygen.

It's not you that's losing oxygen, focus on air. Focus on how you breathe then take a long breath.

Mercedes started gasping which only made it harder to focus until she felt her lungs slowly moving again, she felt air all around her but her breathing was still strangled. She forced herself to fill her lungs then let out a deep breath before taking another. She kept doing it until her breathing was normal again but the feeling of drowning was still there and she knew something else was wrong.

Go to the river.

Mercedes shook her head like whoever was speaking to her could see her but when they repeated it she listened. She looked at her parents once more wondering what was wrong but her breathing started to weaken again making her focus on her breathing again.

They will be fine, just hurry.

"We can not send her into that forest like this."

"We have no other choice, if he dies things will only get worse."

"Josephine, there is literal danger waiting for her."

"She is a threat to us all even without him by her side. You know the prophecy just as well as I do. He will lessen her powers… make them level out more and we can not risk it not happening." Josephine replied looking at the other women who seemed to disagree.

"Ida follow her and make sure she doesn't get hurt." Josephine offered as a solution but when the raven haired woman shook her head she felt herself grow angry.

"Then don't complain about my methods, we have to see how powerful she really is!"

"Do you not see the sun? It's red and it's pitch black out here! That should tell you how strong she is and you think this is going to what? Show you the full extent of her powers, she is a witch AND a healer, who can feel the pain of HER alpha." Ida spat and the others nodded in agreement.

"She shouldn't be able to feel that especially since she's just now learning of her powers, she doesn't even know that we're leading her right to him and what do you think will happen when she sees him damn near dead?" Talia chimed in and Josephine rolled her eyes.

"It's not in our place to intervene." Josephine said before earning a laugh from Maxine. Maxine wasn't there at first or so they thought but she had been listening in the shadows before making herself known.

"You sending her there is exactly that, she wasn't supposed to save him in person. You're forcing her to choose life or death. You know exactly what she will do because deep down you know that even if she realizes or understands, she will care for him and love him. You're hoping she chooses to go to the dark and you're hoping that he is there waiting to prevent her from getting to him." Maxine said and everyone noticed the enraged look on Josephine's face.

"I'm not hoping for anything because she will choose the darkness and set us all free from the confines of the forbidden rules. We can't access our full strength because of the bounds put upon us and she is going to break them all. She just has to accept him as her true love, why else would there be two for her to choose if the dark wasn't an option? The first in a millennium we finally have to one that will allow us to have a choice! I've waited so long, heard so many stories of the child that will bear the light and the dark and now-" Josephine started before being thrust into the air then slammed down into the ground.

"YOU WILL NOT INFLUENCE THIS!" Maxine shouted and the other women moved around Josephine in a tight circle to which Josephine let out a dark laugh.

"You can not stop what was always meant to be. She will either choose the light or the dark but the darkness will always claim her. It won't happen immediately but it will happen and if he can't stop her then it will consume the entire Steelridge Pack leaving only us and the healers." Josephine said, sounding deranged.

The women reached their hands out with their palms facing heavenward and only their fingertips touching and because reciting the ancient words to bind Josephine. She laughed at first before she felt her powers slowly diminishing but she wasn't going to let them take away the one thing she's always had. Rubbing her palms together and quickly reciting a counter she could feel her powers reappearing.

"You will not win this Jo and we can not allow you to further influence the outcome." Ida shouted and the women moved closer. Josephine's dark hair slowly started to pepper and the closer they got the lighter it became until it was an iridescent white and she collapsed.

"We had no choice." Maxine said to the other ladies who looked at Josephine who seemed like a shell of herself laying there. "We'll take her back home and keep her safe but she must figure her own path and we must accept whatever fate she chooses."

Mercedes felt strange, she could sense someone near but she had to keep going. She needed to get to the river but she wasn't entirely sure why but the closer she got the harder it became to breathe again. She had to stop several times to regain her breathing, she could hear the water and knew she was close but something kept telling her to stop. That there was going to be something there she wouldn't like or shouldn't see. When she reached the bend her body did something it's never done before, she could feel it growing defensive almost like it was reacting to something or someone…

Black. That's what was looking back at her, dark black eyes and almost evil grin. No, not almost it was absolutely evil and the longer she looked at him the more her body reacted. The feeling was… odd. She felt defensive but it felt good. Oddly good like it was forbidden whatever feeling that was rushing over her, she felt the energy inside her began to pulsate.

"Well hello gorgeous." The man said and in an instant her body's energy changed. She didn't like the way he was looking at her, his voice sounded...unkind.

He moved forward and she took a step back which made him raise an amused eyebrow.

"I would never hurt you." He said and she felt the sincerity but she still got a bad feeling from his tone.

"Stay away." She managed to get out.

"I'm afraid I can not do that sweetheart." He replied and stepped closer to her, she could fully see him now. He was devilishly handsome with dark sandy hair and even though at first his eyes looked black they were actually a deep blue hue. He was also tall, much like Sam… he looked too much like Sam but not enough to be a twin.

"Stop moving!" She warned and he just smirked as he continued before she moved back holding her hands up.

"STOP!" She shouted and this time he did before he was flung back by a force.

She hadn't realized her breathing went back to normal until it felt like she was underwater again, she wasn't sure why she was told to go to the river but she knew she didn't want to run back into the man so she carefully made her way down the bend. She looked around until noticing something on the far side, she quickly ran and as she got closer she realized it was a person. She felt her chest tightening and started stumbling when she grew near to whoever it was. She managed to turn over the person and gasped when she saw that he was naked and bleeding. It was Sam, the man she met in the woods, the Alpha.

She shakily placed her hand over his chest to see if he was breathing and when she did that a jolt flowed throughout her causing her to let out a labored breath and he quickly jerked upwards expelling water from his lungs and coughing. Her breathing became easier the more he coughed, she didn't understand anything that was happening but a part of her felt like his lack of oxygen was tied to her own.

"A-are you okay?" She asked, looking at Sam noticing his slight shivering. His only response was gasps as he grabbed her hand and placed it on his wound. She looked down at where he placed her hand seeing it was a puncture of some kind but based on her time in college she could tell it was right where his left lung should be. She understood why he was gasping that way now, she looked around but knew there was no way she could carry him to safety.

She took a deep breath and placed her hand back over the wound, she remembered her father would just simply press to rid her of any pain or anger and she assumed that was how he used his healing powers. She wasn't sure what she was doing but she just focused on helping him, she pressed her hand a little hard and started to feel something flowing through her.

She looked at him and could see color returning back to his flesh, his breathing was leveling out and he'd stopped shivering. She smiled slightly because it was working but it faded when she heard something nearing them, she looked around trying to see where they would come from but didn't see anything. Her body did it again, it went defensive and he grabbed her hand forcing her to look back at him.

"You need to run." He said weakly and shook her head, she wasn't sure why but she couldn't leave him like this… not with that man.

"She won't do that." They heard from behind them and Sam tried to sit up but she held him down.

"Just… just leave us alone please." Mercedes said starting to stand but felt light headed so she stumbled.

"I told you I would never hurt you." He said moving closer but stopped when Sam got up shifting back into his wolf form and letting out a deep growl. Mercedes turned completely shocked at the sheer size of the wolf next to her.

RUN

She heard the difference in the tones but she couldn't because she wasn't strong enough. She shook her head before feeling arms wrap around her waist and pull her away from him. She looked at the man wanting so badly to not like the rush his hold was giving but a piece of her like whatever energy he was giving her. She didn't feel weak anymore but she also didn't feel safe, she could see it now. the uncanny resemblance because they were twins.
