It's a new year, and with that, a new beginning. I would have posted this last year in December, but I was busy with other works at that time. Still, this chapter's beginning was supposed to be in the previous one but got cut due to space as I really don't like writing 15K plus chapters as they are a lot to work on. Still, I'm going to try and make this a special chapter as it's 2022 and release two chapters at the same time! That way I can get around the whole chapter-length issue. I won't keep you waiting any longer, I hope you enjoy it.
Chapter 49: Win the Battle…
(Previously)
'One for All 10,000%!' Tetsutetsu channeled his power into this last attack, even though Muscular moved to try and avoid it, he didn't give him the chance as he got in too close, too fast for the villain to escape as his fist came down like the hammer of Thor. "Damascus Steel – Manhattan Fist!" Muscular attempt to block the attack with his only remaining bulked-up arm didn't help him as Tetsutetsu punch went right through it, cutting through the muscle fibers like a hot knife through butter before slamming into his face.
SLA-BOOOM!
Even then, his punch didn't stop as his jaw was almost blown to bits from the attack as Muscular was sent careening into the mountain, colliding with such force that the entire thing shook from the impact. Once the dust cleared, Muscular was left in a crater in the side of the mountain 6m(19ft) wide and 9m(29ft) deep. His lights were well and truly, out.
And standing victorious, even as his quirk first lost its new form before turning off fully, was Tetsutetsu. Even from where stood, he could tell he was wrecked, but he still had a smile on his face. He didn't waver even for a moment. 'W-why?' Kota couldn't help but ask himself before he spoke out. "Why did…you risk your life like that?"
"Even though you barely know me, even when I was so mean to you..!" He yelled, trying and failing to wipe away his tears of joy, confusion, of sadness. He didn't know what they were, all he knew was that he was crying.
"Why did you try so hard to save me?" He asked him.
"I…I told you, didn't I?" Tetsutetsu, who had approached him as he lost his composure and wasn't looking spoke up, getting the boy to look up and see that he was giving him a smile that reminded him f the ones his parents always gave him whenever he was scared, to tell him that he was safe. That they were there. Tetsutetsu put his arching, but relatively undamaged hand on the boy's hat and ruffled it as if it was his hair. "I promised you that I'll keep you safe. Pro or not, I always keep my word." At that, he couldn't help himself as he all but threw himself into his arms, crying all the while thanking him and apologizing.
Even though it hurt like a bitch right now, Tetsutetsu didn't mind as he only let the boy have this while hugging his close. He made his promise to protect him and to live to see another day.

Looks like he kept both.
(And now)
"I must admit, I'm surprised," As the assault on UA summer training camp raged on, two of the league's members had remained at their bar and calmly discussed one thing to another.
"What, did you think I would have gone with them?" Tomura asked his 2nd in command at times babysitter as he continued on placing cards onto the ever-rising castle he was building.
"The thought crossed my mind," Kurogiri admitted, though his form gave no other hints to what he was thinking.
"Not for this level, this is a dungeon I can't enter with the rest of the party," Tomura smirked as he had once hated those kinds of boss rooms as he often placed too much time and EXP upgrading just one or two characters, only to get to a domain or level where they're largely useless.
"And that doesn't bother you?" Kurogiri asked him as he placed the glass he had been cleaning down and reached for another, pouring a drink.
"A little, but the game's totally changed so I can take it," Tomura replied as he placed another card, being careful to ensure that nothing went wrong as the TV in the back blared some news about some low-level gang that had been caught by the heroes.
"Hmm?" Kurogiri gestured for him to continue as he placed some ice cubes into the glass of water to chill it.
"We messed up at the USJ, that is something I can't ignore. Our biggest mistake was challenging the big boss with low-level mobs, sure we can give them good gear but they don't have the EXP or skill points to make any real use of them," Tomura explained as he visualized his words in his head as a dungeon raid where one relied on numbers over anything else.
"What we should have done is weed out the weaklings, afterwards we need to grind through the levels to boost the overall ability of those who make it through. That way we get a good party synergy between DPS, support DPS, buffers, and healers," That changed as he instead thought of assaulting that same dungeon but with a much smaller group but each member has vastly superior stats to any low-level grunt, allowing them to clear said dungeon faster.
'I didn't catch most of that, but I think he means creating a party of elites that can cover each other's weaknesses and improve on their strengths,' Kurogiri wasn't a gamer so these examples largely flew over his head, however, he had known his charge long enough to glean what he was trying to say from them. "And you think this will help in our goal to kill All Might?"
"Yeah, but he's like a level 100 boss, we're gonna need a whole lotta time to get our levels up and find the right gear, but," Tomura confirmed that his goal to slay the symbol of peace had remained unchanged, but there was more to it as he paused as he was about to place the last two cards onto the tower, revealing that rather then normal playing cards, these were trading cards based around but what else, heroes.
"Before we can challenge him again, we need to capitalize on those cracks in the superhuman world," He finished as he instead knocked over the entire thing, watching as the cards fell, each one symbolizing a pro that would need to be taken out.
"We don't have a lot of time to do that, seeing how they heroes are doing an impressive job at covering up the worst of the Hosu City attack," Kurogiri pointed out as he agreed with that assessment that as long as people believed in the current system, their efforts would be doomed to fail. That being said, it wasn't going to be easy as for the most part, coverage over their attack on Hosu had ceased, with only a small section of local papers mentioning when and where funerals for those caught up in it would be. "Downplaying how bad things got as well as casualty counts." In response to this, Tomura shrugged his shoulders as Kurogiri handed him his drink.
"It's not unexpected, they don't want the NPCs getting anxious, but it is annoying that they only talked about the Nomu for a day but still can't shut up about Stain." He could admit that while he wasn't raging about, he was still quite vexed over the fact online forums couldn't shut up about the guy, even though he had been taken out and was most likely in Tartarus by now.
"Hence this additional assault, this time targeted in such a way that UA and the heroes can't brush it aside. But I must admit, do you really think they can handle it? Our spy reported that they'll be twice the number of students and sent that recent report about how they'll six pros present," Kurogiri had already stated his misgivings to this as the original plan had only taken into account 20 students, same as the last one, and maybe 3 teachers.
"We got the element of surprise on our hands, and this time our time limit for the mission is extended so they have more legroom to work with than we did at USJ. But in the end, it doesn't matter if they win or lose, them showing up already meets our bare win condition." Tomura replied as he had learned his lesson from the USJ, hence why they had been sure to find out as much about their quirks as they could, with the sports festival being very useful for that. There was also the fact that by luck, the heroes chose somewhere far off the beaten path, somewhere they wouldn't be able to rely on help getting to them quickly.
"Sacrificial pawns then?" Tomura laughed off the statement as he took a sip of his water, having never acquired a taste for alcohol.
"Come on, I'm not heartless you know. I won't underestimate their strength or their passion to achieve their goals as the heroes do," He told him as he hadn't had much time to meet with them, but he had enough time to see that each of them was a valuable piece that could do contribute a lot to the mission. Hell, Muscular and Moonfish were already top-tier monsters.
"And while they might have different motivations than me, we're part of the same fraction," He uttered as he reached over to the side where a bunch of photos sat in a pile, most of them still-shots from the first year's performance during the 1st year but they were clear enough for someone to see who was who.
"In a society bound by ridiculous rules and blind obsession with heroes and quirks, villains aren't the only ones who have seen its ugly truth," He said with a smirk and a gleam in his eye as he looked down at two photos, the first being of Midoriya after he had won the race, and the second being of Shoto just after he had defeated the Shinso kid.
(At the same time – Back with the camp)
"Is…is he really out?" Kota asked after what felt like an eternity.
"Yeah, no way he's waking up any time soon," Tetsutetsu replied as he held the boy close to his chest.
"What about you? Look at you!" Kota told him as he wasn't wrong, Tetsutetsu felt like crap right now, and to be frank, he wasn't sure how much he still had in him. His right arm was a wreck and while his left was still useable, it wasn't like it was at 100% either.
"Yeah, I look like a mess, I know. But I can still fight," Still, he needed to get Kota back to camp and try to help the rest of them fend off the attack, at least long enough for more pros to show up. "Made sure that at least one arm was still good…ish to go," He joked, though it was clear that Kota didn't find it funny.
"What do we do now?" Kota asked him as he turned, letting them both look down towards the forest where large patches were still burning bright.
"It's pretty obvious that he's not the only villain here, I'm betting that there are more, with someone with a fire quirk setting all those fires." He replied as he might have not been the smartest tool in the box, he wasn't dumb enough to not suspect that blue flames weren't natural. Hell, it wasn't even the dry season so they shouldn't have been enough material for a natural fire to spread this far this quick.
"We need to do something about those fires, otherwise we'll have bigger problems than the villains, and we need to alert the teachers that they're looking for Midoriya, maybe others too." He concluded as he wasn't equipped to handle the flames as while he could try and pull an All Might and flick the flames away, he didn't have good enough control over OFA to do that without breaking his fingers.
"But why?" Kota asked him as he also heard what Muscular had asked, but for the life of him, he couldn't understand what these villains would want with the kid who he punched in the balls.
"Beats me, but right now we don't need to know that, just that he needs to keep his eyes open," Tetsutetsu replied as his best guess was that they wanted a hostage for someone, but then why would they need someone specific? Was it because he was quirkless and wouldn't be as much of a hassle to hold? However, before could think about it any longer…
"Who needs to keep his eyes open?" The guy in question asked as he came down from the sky, hovering off the ground for a moment before landing right in front of them.
"Midoriya, what are you doing here? How did you even find this place?" Tetsutetsu asked him to which he pointed towards the still burning woods.
"Yaomomo and I run into Kendo and her group, they explained that you had her throw you this way, that and the mountainside exploding was all I needed to know that you could use a hand," He started to explain as he looked around and saw that the entire area looked like several bombs had gone off.
"You're a little late," Tetsutetsu replied as he gestured towards the down Muscular, getting Midoriya to give a small laugh before he moved towards the downed villain.
"Sorry about that," Midoriya looked over Muscular and was surprised that despite the crater he was in, he wasn't as injured as he thought he would be, or perhaps his injuries were internal? Either way, he wasn't able to assist in whatever fight occurred but he could at least try and restrain him as he used the vine rope Shiozaki gave him to tie him up.
"Later, what's happening with everyone else?" Tetsutetsu questioned him as he was surprised that his classmate had parted with so much of her hair, but it wasn't a bad move as Midoriya had enough to tie up both Muscular's legs, both his large hands behind his back and them around his torso with some vines left to spare.
"The gas and fires are coming from two separate directions, most likely the villains making it didn't want to get in the other's way. Yaomomo made some gas masks so we can at least breathe, which reminds me," Midoriya gave them both some of the spare masks he had taken before coming here, but while Tetsutetsu could fit his one fine, Kota found his mask little loose.
"Sorry that I don't have anything child size," Midoriya apologized as he helped him to make it as tight as possible, but even then he would like to keep him away from that stuff as he could see some gaps here and there as it simply wasn't made for a child.
"Whatever," Kota muttered as he remained in Tetsutetsu's arms.
"And?" Midoriya shook his head as he didn't have much good news to give.
"A lot of our classmates that were in the woods seemed to have been taken out by the gas, we find those we could and made sure to mask them up and put them places they should be safe for now." The only silver lining was that none of them were dead, but he knew that whatever this gas wasn't wouldn't be good in high doses and some of their classmates had been in it for some time before they were found and tended to.
"We decided it would be best to split up, I'm handling the flames; Yaomomo and Awase are tracking down our incapacitated classmates and getting back to camp; Kodai and Kendo are going after whoever is creating the gas, and Shiozaki opted to get Honenuki back to camp and tell the teachers what we learned so far," He finished his explanation of the situation as the two took a moment to think about their next move.
"That explains the vine rope, wait, you mean you're by yourself?" Tetsutetsu asked him as those flames were no joke, you would need more than just one person to put them out.
"Yeah, we didn't really have many hands to go around," Midoriya knew this but he had planned to use his wings to suck the air away from the flames, suffocating them one at a time which would take some time, but it would ensure they wouldn't keep spreading. And if he run into whoever was creating them, even better as he could either down him our or distract him from making any more fires.
"Bad idea, according to muscle head over there," Tetsutetsu shot that down as he gestured towards the now tied-up villain. "You're a target of the league," Midoriya's eyebrow rose at this as he took a breath in surprise.
"This makes things much more complicated…" He muttered to himself as he was in a very different situation, and as much as he knew his own skills, he knew this wasn't a fight that needed to be fought. Not when he could simply run out the clock with a large group. "Alright, new plan, I get you two back to camp, that way we're all out of immediate danger and we keep the villains from trying to make a move on me," Looking him over, he looked like he would fall over any second now, hell the fact Tetsutetsu was still standing was a testament to his sheer will but even that had limits.
"Just the kid, I can still fight," Tetsutetsu on the other hand, wasn't in an agreeing mood as Midoriya gave him a look.
"Not like that you moron," He replied but Tetsutetsu wouldn't back down as he looked behind him towards the woods.
"Someone needs to put out those fires," He told him as they couldn't just…leave them to burn unchecked, not when who knows could be caught up in it.
"You're not really what I would call a firefighter, I can at least suck up all the air till they die out," Midoriya shot that, more concerned that he would collapse from the damage and exhaustion he must surely be feeling.
"Then I'll come with you, at least that way I can keep an eye on you," It seemed like Tetsutetsu could read minds as he gave a possible suggestion to that issue and they didn't have the time for this.
"You're not going to back down, are you?" Tetsutetsu's gaze was answer enough to that as he felt like he had too much to deal with right now.
"Fine! Come on, we need to get Kota back to camp as soon as possible, hopefully, we can explain what is happening to the teachers too," Midoriya told them back as he moved to pick them up, moving Kota to his own chest and instructing him to keep as firm a grip as he could while he lifted Tetsutetsu into the air with his other hand. All of this meant that he was slower, but they could at least fly high enough to be relatively safe from attack.
"I…I can use my quirk to help put out the fires, it might not be strong but…" Kota started to offer to help but Tetsutetsu spoke up.
"No need to say more kid, but leave it to us for now." He told the boy as while he appreciated the offer, he refused to put a child in danger, not when he could still fight.
"But it's my home! How can I just watch as it burns?" Kota yelled at the two of them, seemingly determined to do…do something other than just cower.
"It won't burn, we'll make sure of it. But we wouldn't be heroes-in-training if we put you in danger."
"But-!"
"I know how it feels. To feel like you can't contribute, that you can't do the things you wish to do." Midoriya didn't let the boy finish, but he also couldn't just do nothing so he decided on another option, one that he only learned through therapy. "But Kota, you have to understand the difference between being useless, and not being required." When he said that, he couldn't help but chuckle at the circumstance, and his word bad wording as he could tell Kota was a little confused.
"I know, it's confusing. But what I mean is that you don't have to risk yourself, not this time." He told him as they made for the camp, hoping that they'll be able to do what they promised as they flew over sections of the forest still ablaze.
(Main buildings)
"Nice move, guess you really are the real deal." At said camp, Dabi found himself impressed by the fact Eraser was able to dodge his flames by leaping into the building itself, using that strange scarf of his to keep hold.
"I don't have time for this." Eraser, with his eyes red, muttered to himself as he knew that his students were in danger, he didn't have time for some petty fight right now.
"Harsh, words. Hmm?" Dabi asked him as he rose his hand to try and blast him again but to his surprise, nothing happened as he looked at his hand, that momentary distraction proved enough for Eraser to move in. keeping his eyes locked on him to suppress his quirk, he thew his capture weapon around him, wrapping his arms to his sides as he brought him in for a hard knee to the face, before he flipped him around so he had a hard belly first landing on the ground as Easer knelt over him, one of his arms firmly held by the underground hero.
"How many are you, where are they and what is it you're after?" Eraser didn't waste any time as he started his interrogation.
"How should I know all that?" Dabi asked back to which Eraser responded by being his elbow the wrong way, breaking the joint to which Dabi only let out a surprised and painted grunt, not a pained scream like he was used to hearing, that wasn't good, it meant he wouldn't bend to normal pain.
"Try and stall again, and it's the right arm that goes next. Be logical about this, I really don't want to have to carry you around after breaking your legs." Still, he didn't have time for other options as he was working against the clock here.
"Go right on ahead, I dare you," Dabi snarled back with a smirk as he looked to him, a little bit of blue flame starting to form on his hair as Eraser blinked but it only lasted a moment before his eyes were on him again, and Eraser answered his taunt while doing what he said he would, breaking his other arm before he looked towards the forest, seeing flames burning in the distance.
"Just what is going on?" But there lay a problem, if this villain was the one that started the fires, how'd he get all the way to the camp building before anyone noticed the flames, Aizawa didn't have time to think about them as he spotted some of his students racing towards him, presumable from the clearing where the test of courage was supposed to be taking place.
"Aizawa-sensei!" Iida, who was leading the group called out to him.
"Stay back!" But not giving the villain under him any chance to act, he ordered his students to keep their distance from the two, however using the moment of distraction as Eraser was focused on his students, Dabi managed to get him off him though he was still wrapped up good with both arms broken and his flames suppressed.
'Damn, I won't be able to take much more of this.' He thought to himself as he could feel himself about to hit his limit. "A performance fitting for a UA teacher, tell me hero..." Eraser wasn't going to give him the chance to talk as he tried to pull him in. tried since as soon as he tightened his grip and pulled, the capture-weapon went right through him as he started to fall apart as if made from porridge
'That fire wasn't his quirk?' A caught off guard Eraser asked himself, wondering if only for a moment if this guy was anything like the Nomu from the USJ.
"Are you worried for your students? I wonder," Dabi started as before he fell apart, leaving Eraser with a foreboding and cryptic message. "If you'll manage to save them all,"
"Just what the hell was that? Did he just melt?!" Mineta yelled as he ran towards him with the rest of the group but within a couple of moments, Eraser was rushing past them right back into the thick of it.
"Get inside, now!" Eraser ordered them as he vanished into the woods, leaving them alone with a pile of…whatever that villain was made of before Iida directed them to enter the building and meet up with Vlad King.
(With the villains)
Not too far away from the camp buildings, right in the middle of where the flames were coming from, Twice and Dabi kept a close eye on things as they just saw the other Dabi get creamed. "Come on, Dabi. You got your ass handed to you be a magic scarf of all things?!" Twice asked him with the unusual flare that Dabi was learning was just his normal behavior.
"That was quick, didn't think they'll be that weak," Dabi stated as he had expected for the clone to at least make it into the place and maybe set it alit.
"Don't say that, better to frame this as the pro being too strong. Self-esteem is important after all," Twice contradicted himself but Dabi had better things to do than bother about that.
"Just hurry up and make another one, we have to keep the pressure up," He told the masked wearing villain next to him who gave him a big thumb's up.
"Leave it to me!"
"Hey look!" Kota pointed out as he saw someone moving through the woods, drawing the attention of the two other boys as they flew in closer to take a better look, and to their relief, it was Aizawa rushing towards where they knew Mandalay and Tiger were still fighting the other two villains.
"Aizawa-sensei!" Midoriya called out to him, grabbing his attention as he stopped and looked to see them as they came down for a landing.
"Midoriya, Tetsutetsu?" Eraser asked the two of them before he picked up Kota's presence and the state Tetsutetsu was in. "What happened?"
"I got into a fight with one of the villains, he's beaten and tied up by the cliffs overlooking the valley," Tetsutetsu told him as Midoriya pointed in the correct direction for him.
"Hold on," Eraser tried to speak up but Tetsutetsu interrupted him.
"The villains are after Midoriya, we don't know why and we're trying to get Kota back to camp," He spoke over his teacher who could see that he was close to dropping any minute now.
"Slow down for a minute," Aizawa tried to tell him as the boy was talking too quirk for him to catch most of what he was saying.
"But now that you're here you can get Kota back to camp, we need to deal with the fires before someone gets hurt," Tetsutetsu smiled as he looked towards Kota then turned his gaze to Aizawa, not picking up how both of them were worried about him.
"What about you two?" Aizawa finally managed to ask him as he could just tell he was going to say something stupid.
"No time-OW!" Tetsutetsu was about to make some excuse by Midoriya knocked him over the side of the head, not enough for it to hurt all that much but enough to get him to shut up and let their teacher talk.
"Let the man speak, you can't just spew information without context," Midoriya told him as even he had trouble catching most of the OFA inheritor was talking about and he had both the context the knowledge from being present for most of it.
"Now, talk and keep it short." Seeing his chance, Aizawa took as his two students took a minute to explain the full details of what they knew: the presence of villains; the flames; the same mysterious gas that had incapacitated just about everyone that breathed it in; the fact Yaoyorozu and Midoriya had broken off from the main group; how they met up with Kendo's group and decided to split to cover more group as the vice rep of 1-A went about getting gasmask to their unconscious classmates; and finally the fact that for whatever reason, Midoriya was a target of the league.
Taking all that in, Aizawa found himself in a sticky situation was while he could order them back, he wasn't sure they would listen, and that didn't solve the problems of the flames that were creeping up all around and with the knowledge that there could be students, already done and defenses who could be caught in the flames, he found himself with little choice. "Go put out those fires, but before you do, pass along a message to Mandalay. Tell her to send out the message about the villains looking to capture students, including Midoriya, and that by my permission, everyone can defend themselves to the fullest of their capabilities." Aizawa told them as they handed off Kota to him as the two nodded with Midoriya getting a hold on Tetsutetsu.
"Understood." And with that, the four split as the two boys made their way for the clearing while Aizawa turned back and rushed back towards the camp to get Kota to safety.
(In the clearing)
Back in the clearing, the balance of the fight had somewhat shifted as Tiger was pushing back Magne while Mandalay found herself on the backfoot as Spinner only increased the pressure on her, his blade getting closer and closer to taking her down. "Hey no fair," Magne complained as she just docked and avoided the pro's blows, not having the chance to try and counterattack herself. "Let me equip my item!" She wished he hadn't parted with her weapon but when he charged her, he had knocked her away from it.
'Dammit, how is he predicting my cat combat?' Meanwhile, Tiger wasn't having the best time as while on the offensive, he hadn't managed to land any good hits yet, even with his unorthodox fighting style and quirk assisting him. If nothing else, his foe was no slouch, neither was the other one as he spared a glance towards his teammate and could see the need to wrap things up clearly before anyone got hurt.
'This isn't good, I can't help Tiger, this guy's too fast.' Mandalay thought to herself as she ducked under a slash from Spinner, but he was able to pause mid-swing before bringing it down on her, giving her next to no time to dodge out of the way of the blade that smashed into the ground hard enough to make a deep cut. 'And that sword of his is really annoying!' She was more concerned with his weapon as his quirk didn't seem to give him any abilities say perhaps for the strength, he was using to swing that damned weapon of his.
"Fall, you false hero!" Spinner growled as he dashed towards her, taking another swing at her, this time she jumped back to avoid it.
"Jeez, you're persistent," She muttered to herself but faster than she had expected, he closed the gap yet again and was poised to take her head off with a single blow.
"So are you, but it ends here!" Spinner yelled as he swung his massive blade, but mid-way through what should have been the finishing move, Midoriya and Tetsutetsu came down from the sky like a missile as Tetsutetsu smashed right on through his blade, shattering it. "What?" He asked in shock as he looked at his ruined weapon, his moment of shock leaving him open for a kick to the chest from Mandalay that sent him right on his back. As he rolled with it and got back up to his feet, Midoriya came in for his own assault, targeting Magne.
"Tiger!" Midoriya said as he came from behind the villain, catching her off guard as he slammed both feet into her back, sending her flying.
'One of the targets is here?' Spinner thought to himself in surprise as he had seen the kid rush off into the woods with the Yaoyorozu girl, why was he back here? Magne wondered something similar as she got back up, not staying down lest Tiger manage to subdue her.
"Mandalay, Kota's safe!" Tetsutetsu yelled back, letting the pro breathe a sigh of relief before she focused once more on her foe who had pulled out two daggers to fight her in the place of his destroyed sword. "We need you to spread a message, tell everyone that Eraserhead has given them permission to fight the villains!" He added in as he looked at Spinner, trying to think of a way to perhaps take him down in a single blow. As he did this, Mandalay did as he asked.
'Everyone in class A and B, in the name of the pro hero, Eraserhead, you have been granted permission to engage in combat with the villains!' The pro sent out the new information to all the students she could reach. Shoji wondered how bad things had gotten for everyone else as he found himself alone, contending with the out-of-control Dark Shadow, Bakugo and Todoroki largely ignored it as Todoroki had already been using his quirk to protect them from a crazed villain in front of them.
Yaoyorozu and Awase hoped that their classmates and friends would be safe, but found themselves with their own issues as a Nomu came out of nowhere, blindsiding them while lastly, Uraraka and Asui had to contend with a dangerous-looking knife-wielding girl whose eyes looked more like a predator than a person.
'I repeat, you may use your training and protect yourselves and your classmates!' Mandalay repeated it as jumped right back into the fight, making full use of Spinner's lack of reach due to his shorter blades as she started her assault.'I hope you know what you're doing, Eraser.'
With the pro in question, he was halfway back to camp as he held Kota to his chest. 'Dammit, not only is Midoriya a target, but Tetsutetsu is in no shape for another fight, not against villains who know what they're doing.' He found that he wished he had dragged the two of them back, maybe he could do that with Tetsutetsu who was already injured and surely exhausted, but he also knew the boy was too much like Kirishima and would fight back and his quirk had only grown stronger in these last couple weeks.
Of course, he could cancel that out but that left Midoriya who could fly and had a similar disposition. He knew he wouldn't be able to force them both back, not without disabling them somehow which would take too long. 'The only reason he's still up and about must be the adrenaline pumping through him, but once he calms down or if he takes any more damage, he'll collapse like a house of cards and be defenseless.' He could only pray that seeing that would be enough for Midoriya to pull back, and get his fellow student back here, he can deal with it from there.
"Are…are they going to be okay? I wasn't very nice to them, either of them and he still got all banged up protecting me," Kota spoke up, shaken from everything that had happened, was happening around them as he held onto him. "I never… apologized, please tell me-"
"Don't worry, he got those injuries he has no intention of dying, they'll make it out of this. Though when this is over, I'll have to scold the two of them for acting without permission." Aizawa reassured him as he knew just what drove those two, what they had been through already. It would take a lot to stop them and he had faith in his students to make it out of this alive, they had to.
"You'll get your chance to thank them, and when you do, try to put more emphasis on the thank you part," Instead, he chose to distract himself from that thought as it brought up…memories he rather forgot, the memories of a friend as cheerful as a cloud.
"Midoriya, you need to get Tetsutetsu back right now, those injuries aren't normal!" Mandalay ordered the two as she and Spinner went at it, with the villains managing to land some glancing cuts here and there as she punched him in the face, sending him back but not for long.
"Not right now, but I need you to send one more message, the villains, we found out one reason they're here!" Midoriya said, catching the attention of the two villains as Spinner turned to him and rushed him, leaving his fight to try and silence him.
"They're after me!" Midoriya yelled as he flew over Spinner, who responded with an expert knife throw which he was lucky he managed to divert with his wing as the villain jumped back, avoiding Mandalay's kick to the back as he know only had the one blade to work with.
'That rumble in the ground earlier, only two people in our group fight with that kind of power, is that why he's so messed up?' Magne, asked herself as they all picked up on that, and while she knew she was powerful, 'But how did this kid get him to talk? Or did he just blub like an idiot?' That was the big question, she didn't know much about him but she suspected he was just a murderous meathead, so it wasn't crazy to assume just that.
'Regardless, we have a job to do and an opportunity has presented itself!' She concluded as she activated her quirk, magnetizing Tetsutetsu, and Mandalay, coating Mandalay was coated in a pink shroud just like with what happened with Pixie-bob while Tetsutetsu was costed in a blue one as the two found themselves drawn towards the other.
"What the-!" Tetsutetsu yelled as he realized, he was going to crash into the pro, trying to soften the impact, he turned off both OFA and steel but found that unneeded when Midoriya managed to grab Mandalay just in time, Magne would have changed it to him but Tiger was already right behind her, about to try and take her down for the count, forcing her to pay attention to him again rather than assist Spinner.
"He has a fast reaction time," Spinner muttered to himself as Midoriya put Mandalay down, getting a quirk thanks from the pro as she and Tetsutetsu wondered about just what the hell happened. He could explain what Magne's quirk was, but that would be foolish, let them think it was just a telekinesis type power.
"Get outta here, hurry!" Mandalay told the two as they decided to cut their losses and hope the pros could handle these two as Midoriya once more grabbed into Tetsutetsu.
"Right, come on, metalhead!" And with that, the two were off, heading to try and take out those fires before they did any real harm. Seeing them vanish into the skies, Mandalay used her quirk one last time before she got right back into the action.
'Everyone, the villains are also targeting Midoriya, if you see him-get him back to camp as soon as you can!' She sent out the message to everyone as she found herself gaining ground against Spinner as she was more experienced with taking on opponents with small blades like the single dagger he was using. 'I can only hope someone can get those two back safely, right now our hands are tied,'
(With Kendo and Kodai)
"So things are that bad," Kodai noted as she along with Kendo rushed through the woods trying to find the source of this gas.
"Looks like it, but someone was off about that message," Kendo replied.
"Hmm?" Kodai prompted her to speak her mind as her class rep did so.
"She didn't mention anything about the gas in her message, which means that it hasn't gotten to wherever she is right now." Kendo pointed out which was strange as that wasn't how gas was supposed to move, if this was just free moving, it would have spread as far as the main buildings, but it hasn't.
"Now that you mention it, shouldn't have the gas got there by now?" Kodai asked as the two paused to take stock. They knew that the direction they were running into was where it was coming from as they picked up on how the stuff was thicker here than it was in the beginning, but they just thought that was due to this being closer to the source, but if the stuff wasn't moving how it was supposed to.
"It's not acting naturally, it's moving out slowly, but the bulk of it is staying in one place," Kendo said what the two of them were thinking like that at least meant that they were still areas that were free of the stuff which was good as she had no clue if the villains fighting had their own means to block out the gas and if they did, this fight would have been over a long time ago.
"But that has an issue, these masks can only filter so much, so our time decreases the closer we get," Kodai pointed out as while this meant their friends and teachers didn't have to worry too much about passing out mid-fight, it meant that this wasn't increased concentration was not just due to being close, but it was due to whoever making it not letting it travel far, she wasn't sure what was their gas mask's limit but she wasn't sure they'll last long nonetheless.
"That just meant we're working on a time limit, come on-we need to keep moving!" Kendo responded as she agreed with her points, but that only made their mission all the more important as they knew nothing about this villain and if they could or couldn't just spread their gas further if they gain too much of an advantage over their allies, they needed to take them down now.
Not too far from them, in the middle of the giant typhoon of pink/purple gas, there was a lone villain just standing there. They didn't seem to do more than release the gas till they flinched before looking towards the direction that Kendo and Kodai were approaching them from, even though he couldn't see them through the thick gaseous cloud. "Three…no, two of them are coming right me. I wonder how they not passing out from the gas," The rather young-sounding villain asked as his glowing red gaze from their gas filtering helmet took looked in that direction.
"No matter it wasn't as if I didn't prepare for something like this, you can never be too careful when it comes to folks that managed to get into UA," He continue to speak to themselves as he reached into his school jacket's as he picked up the two of them getting closer, any moment now they'll be right on top of him.
"Then again, no matter how strong their quirks may be," He said, his tone growing sinister as he turned to the side of sudden, which proved to be the right call as from the gas, Kodai broke out, ready to grapple him to the floor and subdue him.
"Over here!" Kodai called out to her classmate who he knew was close as well, but they won't be much of a threat as he pulled out what he had grabbed from his pocket.
"They're still only human." He finished as he pointed his revolver right at the surprised girl and pulled the trigger.
BANG!
(With Tetsutetsu and Midoriya)
Some distance away from them, the two boys heard the crack of the gunshot reverberate through the air, its presence not helping their mood. "That sounded like a gunshot," Tetsutetsu thought aloud as he watched as Midoriya used the fans on his wings to suck the air from one of the smaller fires, killing it before he moved into another-needing to take some time as his fans weren't made for this and due to the fact, that whoever set these fires in the first place knew what they were doing.
"It's coming from where Kodai and Kendo said they'll be heading, they probably run into whoever is making the gas," Midoriya, taking a second to look towards the direction they suspected the sound came from, noted before he got back to it.
"Should we go help them?" Tetsutetsu asked but Midoriya shook his head.
"If I have to carry you in your state, we'll be too slow, the best thing we can do is contain these flames," Midoriya replied as he could only hope that the two could handle this.
"You mean you contain the flames," Tetsutetsu reminded him as while he wished to help, there wasn't much he could do other than throw himself over the smaller ones and smother them, but those ones had been taken care of already.
"Unless you have some secret skill for firefighting, you're just here to watch my back," Midoriya didn't even turn to face him as he replied.
"If-only-LOOK OUT!" Midoriya found himself harshly pushed to the side where the two landed in the dirt, coughing a bit as he inhaled some of the dust, he started to get back up, turning to face Tetsutetsu to ask him why he did that.
"What was...that…for," Or at least, that was the idea but that went out the window as he looked to where he just was. Crouching on all fours, the two of them saw a massive humanoid lizard, its claws buried deep into the dirt where Midoriya just was as its tail swung back and forth in irritation at missing its mark as it turned to them baleful red and yellow eyes.
"Should have known you would be able to react, was hoping to find my target nice and alone," The lizard thing spoke, its voice rough and hard but still having feminine aspects to it as it moved to stand at its full height, making both boys feel small as she was well over 2m tall, almost as tall as All Might as her scaly form came stacked with muscles. She didn't wear much, just a pair of torn blue jean shorts and a white shirt that had also been torn so much, it might as well have been a crop top.
"But it looks like it's double the fun," She smiled, though it came out more of a grimace to the two as her tongue stuck out for a second. They didn't need an introduction to know that they had no chance here, not like this.
"Midoriya, run!" Tetsutetsu didn't wasn't a second as he rushed forward, both his quirks active as he knew that she would have only appeared to capture Midoriya, he needed to buy his friend time to escape.
"What about-!" Midoriya tried to speak up but Tetsutetsu cut him off.
"Just do it!" The OFA inheritor yelled back as he started to try and punch and kick this lizard looking villain, but with only one arm at the ready-he found himself unable to do much and it showed as she barely seemed to be paying attention to him, almost moving out of the way from instinct as her eyes stayed focused on Midoriya who froze for a moment before he tried to fly off, she couldn't have that, now could she? She had already spent so much time following after the brat.
"Looks like Muscular did a number on you," The villain noted as she dodged his next attack like a serpent as she moved to his injured side, grabbing onto his already broken arm with enough force to get a wince out of him, despite the fact he had armored it up. "Let's see if we can't make it worse!" She yelled as she used her grip on him to swing him overhead into the ground, slamming him down with enough force to daze him as his broken bones screamed in agony, an agony that only grew as she twisted his arm.
"ARG!" He couldn't help but scream out in pain as it felt like she was trying to take his whole arm off, hearing this, Midoriya turned around to see the beat-down mid-flight.
"Tetsutetsu!" Hearing that he was still close enough to see this, she decided that enough was enough. The metal brat wasn't her target.
"I just remembered, I don't have time to play with you, I have a job to do," She said as if this was an afterthought as she grabbed him by the head and slammed him into the dirt face first before throwing him so hard he broke through a tree before collapsing into a pile, knocked out from the pain.
"You bitch!" Seeing his friend beaten so soundly enraged Midoriya as he forget that he was meant to run as he rushed right back in.
"Language, brat." The villain replied as she once more did nothing as she was attacked, this time unlike Tetsutetsu, Midoriya had full use of all his limbs and his wings which he used to increase his reach and add to the barrage but like with his metal friend, she didn't seem all that invested in it, avoiding his attacks like a snake moving through rocks.
"Too slow," She eventually spoke up as she caught on his wings in her one hand, shocking him as he didn't think she was that fast, or strong. And his strength estimates for her only seem to bent one of the feathers backward so much it snapped in half, seeing this, he chose to jump back and rethink his plan of attack as she tossed the broken thing to the side.
"Stop resisting and come quietly, else this is going to hurt." She warned him, not looking as amused as she did in the beginning as her eyes stared him down, telling him she was not in the mood for games and if he wasn't careful, she'll do what she just did to Tetsutetsu. Still, he wasn't about to just give him. He started to hover in the air, glaring back at her as he brought both fists to bear. He didn't have time to worry about everyone else, first, he needed to get himself out of this mess.
"Kodai!" Kendo yelled in fright as she heard the shot and her friend cry out in pain, though she hadn't gotten to there the two were yet as the villain looked at the kneeling Kodai who was holding hr bloodied lift shoulder.
"Oh, I know you. I saw you on TV during the sports festival, you can change the size of things, right?" The villain asked though it was more appropriate to say mocked as he looked down at her. "Shame that doesn't do you any good right now," Kodai could only grit her teeth to stem the urge to cry from the pain.
'Where did he get a gun of all things? From his clothing, he should be around our age, and yet, here he is. This is not an ideal situation for me,' She thought to herself, having been completely unprepared for their target to be armed and now she was paying for it as she guessed that he still had another 5 rounds that could potentially end her or Kendo. "What is it you're after?" She asked him, trying something.
"And why would I tell you that? What, you think I'm just going to monologue whatever goals and plans like some Saturday morning cartoon villain?" He asked her, catching what she was attempting as he turned to the side once more, facing away from her as he guessed what her real goal was as he felt the other trying to make a surprise attack.
"Or was your plan," He noted as from the mist, Kendo burst out, one hand in front of her to act as a shield as the other pulled back to end this guy.
"Kodai, get back!" Kendo yelled but the villain had already seen her coming.
BANG!
"Kendo!" Kodai yelled in concern for her friend who wailed in pain as the villain had managed to hit her in the foot, tripping her as she came barrelling towards him in a pained heap. Before she could anything else, he kicked her over and pointed his gun right at her face, making it clear that if she moved, she was dead.
"To distract me long enough for your friend to make her move? Did you really think you could catch me off guard with a basic two-prong attack?" He asked her, sounding both disappointed in their attempt and high off his own self-perceived arrogance. "Come on, I thought UA students would be smarter than that,"
"Get away from her!" Kodai didn't think as with Kendo's plea, she sucked up the pain and took off, hiding away in the smoke as she came to rest behind a tree, breathing heavily as the situation crashed down on her along with the pain from her wound. It didn't help that in some corner of her mind, she realized that he hadn't tried to stop her, he wanted her to run as if this was some sick hunt, and she was the game.
"Oh, how noble. Wishing for your friend to live while you do what, die for them?" The villain said as he looked down at Kendo, the girl glaring up at him through her gas mask as she found it harder to breathe thanks to just how thick this gas was, an issue he didn't have as his rebreather was of a much stronger build and capacity.
"Now…I wonder where you went, size changer," The villain started taunting as it looked through the smoke, leaving Kendo confused as to who he could see through it, to begin with as she and Kodai had a much harder time finding him.
"Right here," Kodai spoke out of nowhere as he once more felt someone coming, this time from the air. So she was trying to jump him, was she? Poor move as it only meant she wasn't able to dodge as he aimed his gun up and fired.
BANG!
Only to his surprise, he found that he hadn't struck her but rather, his bullet hit some large rock that was around the same size as a person. She was randomly tossing rocks now to try and get him, smart on her part. "Really, now this is just sad. Don't be so rash, otherwise, you're not worth killing." He told her as he counted that he still had three shots left. When he heard silence, he sighed as he didn't know who she was fooling.
"Hey girly, I know you're still here, no one can hide from me in my gas," The told her, gaining Kendo's attention.
'Is that how he knew we were coming?' Kendo realized that for some reason, he was using his gas to find them, that was how he knew where they were but how was the question. So long as that remained unanswered, this was an uphill fight. Still, she couldn't voice that just yet, not when he could shot her before, she needed an opportunity, she just hoped Kodai could make one for her.
"I'll cut you a deal, come out in the next 90 seconds and surrender, else I'll put two in your friend's knees." Shit, he wasn't going to give them the time to do that as he eyed her, his gun never too far from her general direction. She knew he had around three rounds left, but the question was could she charge him without suffering a vital wound? Her giant fists were an option but could she cover herself enough?
"How do I know you'll keep your word?" Kodai spoke up, catching both their attention as the girl looked around the tree she was hiding behind, the left side of her shirt shocked crimson as she did her best to stem the bleeding.
"That's the fun part, you don't. She could do as a little extra, but I'm feeling like I should at least you give something," The villain was at least honest there as while she wanted to believe he would keep his word, Vlad and the rest of the teachers had been clear that not all villains would be such a thing and might say it to get you to lower your guard. If she could box him in somehow, make him waste ammo, maybe…
'I have no clue where he is, how do I get Kendo to safety?' That was the big question here as the normally impassive girl found herself sweating bullets as she tried to think of a way to beat this guy.
"Don't listen to him, Kodai. Just run!" Kendo yelled to her from the gas, but she wasn't about to leave her to die. She would win, she had to.
'I need to corner him, make him move like I want him to,' She decided to go for the wasted ammo approach, if she could do that, she could close the distance and take him down, so she picked up another pebble from the ground and tossed it into the smoke, activating her quirk just as it reached as high as it could go, causing it to drop.
BANG!
"Hmm? Another boulder, when did-oh right, your quirk. Not very heroic to try and crush me, you know," The villain told her, but she didn't respond with words but rather with another one, closer to where she could pick up his voice.
BANG!
"70 seconds on the clock," The villain taunted her, making sure to keep an eye on Kendo just in case she tried something.
'He should have one round left,' Kodai thought to herself as she made ready to dash in as soon as she tossed this last one into the gas typhoon, once she did so, she waited.
BANG!
'Now my chance!' With the last shot, she rushed in, aiming right for him but to her surprise, rather than being caught in the middle of reloading, he still had his gun out and pointing towards her.
BANG!
"Wha-" Kodai breathed out in shock as she almost collapsed, the bullet passing right through her right side as the villain's red-tinted eyes seemed to mock her even further for her failed plan, but how? He should have had only 6 rounds!
"Kodai!" Kendo watched in agony as her friend could barely stay up, holding onto her side, having prioritized it over her shoulder as the villain laughed as she looked on.
"Smart move, you counted my shots and charged when you thought I would be out, but one thing." The villain said as he lifted up his gun and opened it, ejected the spent round, and quickly reloaded it, bringing it back up to 6. "When you weren't looking, I did a quick reload," He told her as he had made sure to keep his gun hidden from Kendo's sight, each time he fired into the gas and struck a boulder instead, he had ejected the spent casing and replaced it with a fresh round.
"There you go, reloaded and ready, though I doubt I'll need much of it. 50 seconds by the way," The told her as while he could just end things here, where was the fun in that? Kodai used the chance to try and rush back to cover, barely avoiding a shot that would have taken her leg out.
'I need a new approach, think Kodai, think! What would Vlad do, what would he think about this mess?' She thought to herself, painfully aware that she was going to pass out from blood loss if she didn't do something about this guy. Taking a breath to calm herself, she tried to think about what she had been taught.
'Analyse the situation, observe what you can, even the smallest details can prove crucial in ending the fight or saving a life.' She remembered Vlad's lesson to their class, how there is always something you can exploit, no matter how tiny it might be. The question was, what could she exploit here?
"Okay, analyze, what has he done so far?" She said to herself, pinching her side to keep herself away as more and more of her blood leaked away. 'He's able to track movement through his smoke, and he has a gun which means rushing him is pointless, wait a minute.' She had a theory but she needed to test it, so she gathered up three pebbles this time around and throw them into the smoke in quick succession if she was right…
BANG!
BANG!
BANG!
"Really, are you trying to make me waste all my shots? You have less than 30 seconds left, that will never work," The villain asked her, sounding annoyed but she could pick up it wasn't at the fact she was trying the same tactic again, now it was at something else.
'He can't tell the difference, he can only detect movement, but not what it is,' Kodai realized as this gave her an opening, a slim one but she wasn't in a position to complain.
"20 seconds,"
"Kendo, swing your arms like you don't care!" Kodai didn't think she would ever say something like that, but she couldn't just scream what she had found out, she needed him surprised, caught off guard for this to work.
"Wha-!" Kendo thought to herself as that was out of nowhere.
"Just do it!" Kodai couldn't afford to waste time, she needed to act now! And she needed Kendo to give her that window. Trusting her friend in whatever she was planning now, Kendo did as she asked, increasing the size of her hands to their max before swinging them about, interrupting the flow of the gas as it started to move away from her, forcing the villain's attention back to her but to his surprise, he saw that the winds she was creating were super strong.
"Dammit, how the hell can you still move your arms?!" He yelled as he had to work just to lift his hand enough to begin aiming at her.
"Your pathetic, carrying that gun around and that uniform just screams you know you can't take on in a fight!" Kendo yelled back, swinging her hands with as much power as she could as right now as the gusts of winds were the only thing buying her precious seconds before he managed to line up a shot.
"Why you lit-What?!" The villain started to curse before he felt movement coming from behind him, and coming in fast.
'She used her friend to distract me, that's it, no more games!' He realized as got really angry, screw playing with them, they were dead. He didn't even wait to see her face again, he just turned around, aimed, and fired into the smoke.
BANG!
However, rather than hearing a pained groan or maybe a body dropping, once more he struck something hard as from the cloud, Kodai broke out into his line of sight but now she was holding an enlarged piece of bark, having used it as a shield. "You missed," She didn't give him a moment more to react as she bashed him with the impromptu shield, stunning him before she swing her shield into the gun holding hand, smacking his wrist hard enough that he hissed in pain as he dropped the weapon. Now disarmed, she went in for the finishing move, dropping her shield, she grabbed his hand and tossed him onto his back with a perfect Judo flip. Once done, she flipped him again onto his stomach, jumping on his back to keep him immobilized.
"It was a double bluff?" The villain asked in shock as she nodded her head as Kendo, seeing him disarmed run to them with her portion of Shiozaki's rope at the ready as the two got to work tying him up.
"It was, now that you can't use that gun of yours, let's see how long you can last without that mask of yours," Kendo, feeling more than a little pissed with this kid reached for his mask, unfastening the thing as he tried to struggle free, but they had been thorough with their knots, it wasn't going anywhere.
"Wait no!" She didn't care for his pleas as she took the thing off, watching as he struggled to breathe for a moment or two before his eyelids grew heavy. It wasn't even a full 20 seconds before he passed out, the gas started to dissipate now that he was no longer controlling it.
"Who would have thought he wouldn't be immune to his own gas…right," Kodai thought aloud as she nearly fell over if not for Kendo catching her, looking her over, and seeing how pale she looked.
"Kodai!" She quickly put her down and removed her shirt, she could worry about being seen running about in just her bra but for now, it would have to do as she started to rip it into strips she could use to bandage up Kodai and try to stop the bleeding. Kodai didn't stop her as she felt her friend go about wrapping her up the wound to her side, both hoping it looked worse than it was before she moved to her shoulder, but by then, she was mostly out of strips and couldn't do all that much.
It took her a couple of minutes, but she managed to see to the worst of it as Kodai moved to do the same for her, using her ow,n shirt to wrap up Kendo's foot which didn't take as long before the two were done. "Come on, can you…?" Kendo asked as she lifted Kodai to her feet, letting the girl hang off her as support before she nodded as she moved towards the gun, shrinking it to about one-fifth its size before putting it into her pocket.
"Thanks," we can hand it to the police later," Kendo stated as the two started to move back to camp, they wouldn't be much help to anyone like this otherwise.
"I just wish I had something more to fight with than just pebbles, maybe if I did…you wouldn't have gotten hurt," Kodai said to herself, disappointed in her own efforts but Kendo wasn't going to let her sink into that depression line of thought.
"Hey now, don't worry about it, neither of us could have known he was packing, what happens is that your quirk thinking got us out of there, no wonder you have the 2nd best grades in the class," She tried to cheer the girl up as the moved, showing her a smile when she looked towards her as she was honest in her words and wanted her to know that. Picking up on this, Kodai couldn't help but smile back as tears started to flow down her pale cheeks.
"Thank you," She told her as she leaned her head onto her shoulder, trying to converse her strength till they could get someone to look them over but as they could still hear in the distance, that could take some time.
"Don't mention it, come on, let's head back before one of us passes out," Kendo joked, trying to ignore the very real possibility of that happening as Kodai nodded her head.
"Hmm."
And that is the chapter, what did you guys think? To be frank, it was meant to be longer as some stuff from the following chapter bleed into this, that being the while last part with Mustard but I decided to cut things here as it's not a bad point to end. I hope that I did the fights justice as with that last one, the reason why Mustard doesn't just end things is the same as cannon where he's shown to be both young and arrogant, explaining how his quirk works mid-fight which was how Kendo figured out a way to beat him. If he had kept his mouth shut, that wouldn't have happened and while he did so here, I did try to show that arrogance by the choices he made in the fight.
With Midoriya and Tetsutetsu, the two of them have finally met the fabled her, the one that Magne thought to be so dangerous and vicious, she would have torn Ragdoll apart, and it's the Lizard(a female version, but the lizard is a lizard!) More of her will be shown in the next chapter as in this one appearance, she's already taken down Tetsutetsu and is moving on to her target. Another chance was that this time, Aizawa ordered the two boys to act as he really didn't have many options at the moment to deal with as with the knowledge of the gas, he can't just leave the flames unattended and while Vlad could perhaps handle it, someone needs to watch over the students and Eraser's no good as a firefighter.
Still, so far, the students have managed two victories here. The first was Muscular's defeat and the second being taking down Mustard and with him, the gas that had been a problem since it first appeared. However, from the name of the chapter, I think you can guess what's to come but I won't spell it out here. If you wish to see that, the next chapter should be up as I posted them at the same time as promised at the beginning of the chapter.
Reviews:
D3lph0xL0v3r: Yep, it was something I came up with some time ago and couldn't wait to reveal in the story.
Blaze1992: To be fair, I think it was the teachers more covering their bases in terms of legal consequences and the PR nightmare such an assault would bring as we saw after the attack, the press held nothing back in trying to blame UA for the entire thing, calling them incompetent and negligent for the fact that were attacked somewhere they hadn't expected and students had to fend for themselves and still got injured.
Guest: Already addressed this and I only watched the first two parts of JOJO, never got around to the rest of it.
Guest: Because I just felt like writing about an unusual ship, and surprisingly, no-the laws in Japan still have the legal minimal age at 13. Sure, just about every prefecture have altered their own laws to adjust it to 16 but yeah. Though this does explain why anime and manga seemingly love to sexualize middle and high school girls as for them, it's not a crime, creepy but legal.
Wittyartificer: No, it wasn't.
sd74 c: Which one, the OG or the relatively new movie remake?
Makemeabear: You do realize this is literally at the start of the series, right? We have no clue how strong anyone in 1-B was at this point as from what we know about Kuroiro(at least anime wise) he had to learn how to move around in shadows so one could make the argument that at the start of the year, he could only jump in and out of shadows but that's it.
THOTSLAYERTRES: That's not a complaint, that's just needless negativity.
Zukafew119: Well, I finally managed to get this out, hope you liked it. And yes, there were plenty of errors as I went back from chapter 1 and redid them with Grammarly and I would errors in excess, the fact so many people could ignore them just makes me appreciate my readers even more. Spinner by his own admission was a shut-in, so stands to reason he plays a lot of games and spent hours on the internet, hence the fact he was able to build his own hidden single-shot gun much like the one Ezio has in the Assassin's Creed series.
Shiozaki is a powerful student and by Horikoshi's own admission, she would have been in 1-A if her hair wasn't so much of a pain to draw and as someone with no talent when it comes to drawing, I can't fault him for that. Still, I wanted her to have a larger role in things but considering her peaceful personality, she's not the type to actively seek out combat, not when others can focus on that and she can focus on rescue.
Tetsutetsu really had his work for that victory as while Kendo's move to throw him most of the distance saved time, he's not a speed-based fighter and for most of his life, he's relied on himself being a sturdy wall so fighting someone who is both faster and stronger than he normally is means he has to think outside the box. With Muscular's enjoyment of the fight, by his own admission, all he cares about is killing and fighting strong enemies. He isn't like Rappa who has some sort of honor code, he's just a mad man that knows he's mad. Yeah, I thought it would be a good moment for the power of OFA to shine as it did when Midoriya needed a way to win against Shinso, why not when Tetsutetsu is in a life-and-death fight?
Yui is part of the plot due to her unexpected friendship with Midoriya, so I couldn't just write her out. Plus with Tetsutetsu busy and Kirishima back at camp, she needed someone reliable to help her. Then making a plan first just fits as they aren't dumb, and this is post-I-Tower so they know that when facing villains capable of getting places they shouldn't, you should be careful with your actions. Sadly for Midoriya, he got there too late to assist as by the time he and Momo met up with Kendo and co, the fight with Muscular was already underway.
With the tree thing, no, my family just had a large garden with trees as my mother hated houses with mostly pavement, it made hanging out outside entertaining as just playing in the mud was a legitimate pastime for myself and my brothers for years, the point being that climbing trees was something I could just do whenever I went out. Our primary school also had lots of trees, most of them we weren't supposed to climb, but good luck getting a bunch of kids to listen to you when it was a well-known fact the coolest kids were the ones that could climb the highest. It was almost weird that no one ever had a serious accident as kids fell, but never got anything more than a cut or two from it.
