"What differentiates a human between a monster? If angels can fall, then demons can be capable of kindness too, yes? Of course, this also means that man is capable of cruelty. Both possess great risks as well as great possibilities. We can only hope for the best."
- ?
"Yeah, I have everything ready. Have my cash, books and even the non-essentials. So you don't need to worry."
"I'm just trying to make sure. This is the first time you'll be meeting with people in your age group now."
"I know, I know... I'm still pretty nervous about it too. So what did you say this school was called... Youkai Academy?"
"Yes, that's the name. Such an odd one too. That term is normally associated with spirits, ghosts or demons in Japan. I do wonder why the founders of the place named it as such."
"Well, maybe I'll find out when I get there."
"Perhaps. Best of luck, Netto my boy."
"Yeah, thanks Gramps. And say hi to Wolfy for me."
The young man ended the call on his cellphone and put it into his pocket. He was a boy no older than fifteen, and was slightly short for his age. He was wearing a green blazer over a white shirt with a red tie and brown slacks. He wore black sneakers on his feet, had his backpack hanging from his shoulders, and a brown belt pack fastened around his waist. He short black hair, silky smooth and reached his shoulders, bright red eyes, and was rather handsome, having a almost baby face that presented him as a innocent boy. As far as he could remember, he hadn't stepped outside the city, or mingled with people his own age. He's seen them on TV, he was familiar with them, but experiencing it was something else completely. And like all boys, he was greatly attracted to the female form. The good doctor talked to him about birds and the bees, so he was far from naive. Though he couldn't help but wonder about all the things that could happen, all the possible scenarios.
Just thinking about it caused his face to turn red, but he quickly suppressed the urges. He sighed and sat into a nearby bench, relaxing and enjoying the blue sky and warm sunshine that was presented to him. It wasn't long before the bus came bringing Netto much relief. He almost thought he had the wrong pick-up location. The doors opened with a creak and a busman in a blue uniform and shady cap appeared, eerily grinning at Netto with a fat cigar lodged in his mouth.
"Hey kid, you goin' to Youkai Academy?" the bus driver asked.
"Yeah, is this the bus?" Netto asked.
"Sure is," the bus driver said ominously. "So... you getting on or what?"
"Huh?" Netto blinked before he caught himself, "Oh, right. Sorry." He quickly ran onto the best to locate his seat. Though when he got there, he found to his surprise that there was no one else in the bus. "Hey, driver? Where's the other passengers?" Netto asked, turning around.
"Oh, you're the only one," the driver grinned, slowly turning around, "I hope you know what you're getting yourself into, kiddo. One slip up, and you might not come back... alive!" The door suddenly slammed shut and the bus moved into motion as the driver.
Now Netto is just wondering what he got himself into.

When the bus came out of the tunnel, Netto was confronted with a strange new world. It looked kind of like Earth, except darker and more foreboding, somehow. The trees had no leaves on them, their branches stretching out into the sky as if to strangle the clouds. And even more strangely enough, the sea was blood red in color.
"Youkai Academy," the driver announced as the bus came to a stop next to a scarecrow. "All out."
"You... sure this is the right place?" Netto asked carefully.
"Absolutely," the driver grinned. "What? You backing out now?"
"No thanks, I'm good," Netto said hurriedly as he exited the bus.
"Well, best of luck to ya boy," the driver grinned again. "Something tells me you'll be in for quite a ride! HAHAHAHA~!" Before Netto could even utter a sound, the busman took off, leaving the boy dumbstruck as to what they were seeing. Bad management of the school grounds couldn't even be said with lifeless and infertile land he had just landed at.
"I'd better call Gramps. He'll know what to do," reaching into his pocket, Netto pulled out his cellphone, but saw to his surprise that there was no signal. "That's odd," he frowned to himself. "But nothing I can't fix." His eyes narrowed as they suddenly glowed blue, with circuitry patterns appearing over his irises. At that exact moment, a flash of blue appeared over the cellphone, and the signal started to get stronger. Smiling, he dialed the number and placed it next to his ear. The was a pending sound in the speaker, until someone picked up on the other end.
"Hello?" the voice answered, "Ah, Netto! I trust your trip went well?"
"Something like that," Netto answered. He looked around the fields, his stomach dropping further. "Gramps, I you sure the client gave us the right directions? This place looks like something out of horror movie, and I swear that the lake is full of blood."
"Oh?" the man on the other end questioned, "I'm certain it was the same directions to the bus that he gave me. He also sent me the official start date. Perhaps there was something about the school he didn't tell us?"
"Maybe," Netto sighed. "But I guess I'm stuck here for the next several months. I'll call you back when anything comes up."
"Very well, Netto," the man nodded. "Enjoy your stay, and be sure to get good grades."
"I will, Gramps," Netto smiled, "Later." He ended the call and placed it back into his pocket. He looked back at the field and sighed, "It can't be too hard to find the school, can it?"
Seven minutes later...
"...Okay, so it's much harder than I thought," Netto stated as he stood in the middle of the path. Well, it was a path but now he was standing in the middle of an intersection of paths and with no signs to give him directions. He took out the school's pamphlet from his blazer's pocket and opened it up. "And no map." He folded it up. "How nice. Now I'm gonna be late for orientation." He muttered while scratching his head, "This can't get any worse."
"Out of the way~!" a feminine voice shouted.
"What?" he uttered in surprised. He turned around to the voice, only to see a bicycle getting into his face at ramming speed.
CRASH!
"Ouch," he grunted. And now there was some kind of weight on top of him too.
"Itai," a female voice moaned. Arching his head up, he found a girl lying on top of him. Shaking her head a bit, she got up on her knees and faced him. "I'm... I'm sorry. I was moving too fast." The young boy couldn't help but blush. The girl was so cute! She had waist-length pink hair, emerald green eyes, and a very pretty face. She had on a leather choker that had a silver cross hanging from it and beads connecting from the chain to the choker. She had a nice figure and was wearing the female version of the uniform he was wearing, along with black socks and polished black shoes.
"No... problem..." Netto stammered, blushing slightly. I wasn't paying attention either.
The girl before him couldn't help but blush at the sight of him as well. To her, she was the plan one while he was rather cute. That was when the girl noticed a cut on his cheek.
"Oh my! You're bleeding!" the girl gasped as she reached into her pocket and grabbed a napkin.
"It's nothing. Really," Netto insisted.
"No it isn't," the girl frowned as she dabbed the cut. Once it was all cleaned, she brought her hand back before she suddenly stiffened with her eyes glazing over.
"Is something wrong?" the boy asked as he noticed.
"Wh... what's this?" she murmured as she brought the napkin to her face. To his shock, the girl licked the blood right off the napkin. "It's so good."
"Huh?" he blinked. The girl suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed herself against him. "What the hell?"
"I'm sorry," the girl sighed, her tongue running over what appeared to be sharp fangs, "But you see... I'm a vampire."
"You're a what?" Netto blinked. In a heartbeat she lunged forward and sank her fangs into his neck.
CHUU~!
Most guys would enjoy getting hickeys from cute girls, but when a girl that's giving you a hickey happens to be a vampire, it's not the best idea to enjoy, as Netto quickly came to understand. He jerked, panicked and flailed a bit, as she continued sucking from. Soon she removed herself from him. "Ah~ that was so good," she sighed as she clasped her cheeks together.
"Ah-ah-ah-ah..." Netto could only let out, still winded from having his blood sucked.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," the girl apologized again, "I should've asked before biting you! But you see, this is the first time I ever drank fresh blood from someone, so I kinda lost myself for a moment." She pressed her index fingers shyly, "Do you... hate me now?"
Netto soon found his voice as he sat up right, "No... I was just taken off guard. That's all. So are you really a vampire?"
"Yep!" the girl smiled, grinning toothily, "I'm living proof!"
"So you vampires are like, afraid of garlic and die from getting stakes through the heart?"
"Stakes would kill anyone, and we actually like the taste of garlic. I'm not sure where anyone got that from."
"Oh, right," Netto smiled sheepishly. "Well, since we're talking, we might as well introduce ourselves." He took the girls arm and helped her up. "I'm Netto Kusanagi."
"My name is Moka Akashiya. It's nice to meet you," Moka smiled.
"You to Moka-san," Netto smiled back. He took note of her uniform and asked, "So, you headed to Youkai Academy too?"
"Yes!" Moka smiled. "Are you a new student there too?"
Netto nodded, "Yeah, it's also the first time I'll ever go to school."
"That's great!" Moka cheered. "Do you want to be friends? I really don't know anyone here and it's a little intimidating to be by myself."
"R-really?" Netto sputtered, taken by surprise. This girl really knew how to drop a bombshell on a poor guy like him. "Um…I…would like that."
"Yay!" Moka cheered as she hugged Netto's arm. The young man blushed like a tomato at the closeness and the feeling of her chest against his arm. "Thank you, Netto-kun! I'm so relieved! Because you see, your blood tastes so nice, like a human's, but even better! I think I'm in love..."
"Yeah..." Netto smiled meekly, feeling her soft orbs against his chest. 'Gramps, you should really see this..."
Once Moka managed to dislodge herself from Netto, they went their separate ways. Netto didn't think he was going to see her for a while, but he would be proven quite wrong about that.
After the welcoming ceremony, he exchanged his shoes for a pair of soft slippers so that he wouldn't scuff the floor. Once that was done, he searched for his classroom, which turned out to be Class 3 for Year 1 students. And once he got in, a lot of female heads were turned.
"Hey, who's that?"
"Wow, he looks like an innocent boy!"
"Whaa... kawaii..."
"No way that's a disguise," one of the girls drooled. "He's just too..."
"ADORABLE!" the collected girls shouted.
"Huh?" Netto gapped in bafflement. He was not expected a reaction like this when he walked into a classroom, much less the girls suddenly looking at him like a piece of meat, and most of the boys looking at him with deathly glares. Gramps did always say he had a boyish face, and could pass as a girl. He just didn't think they would all go gaga over him like this.
"Alright, settle down everybody!" a woman called as she walked into the classroom. She was a very pretty woman with short strawberry blonde hair, a spaghetti strap top and a short skirt. She sported a pair of cute glasses on her face and parts of her hair looked like cat ears. What really got his attention was the tail that was swinging behind her. "Homeroom is about to start so all of you settle down!" Everyone seemed to calmed down and went to take their seats. "Now then, I'm your teacher Shizuka Nekonome, and this place, Yokai Academy... is a monster school that will teach you all how to blend in and peacefully coexist with humans!"
A monster school that teaches other monsters how to coexist with humans... that doesn't sound too bad...
...
...
...
Wait, what!?
"So, like it or not, humans run the world!" Nekonome-sensei continued. "We monsters have to learn to coexist with them. That is the mission of this school! To coexist peacefully with the humans! Which brings us to rule number one: always remain in human form! You must never expose your true self to anyone! Doing so will bring about strict disciplinary action!"
Was this some kind of joke? He quickly scanned his classmates. They were not laughing. In fact, they were taking this news like normal. He remembered Moka claiming that she was a vampire. Then it dawned on him that Nekonome-sensei was serious and not kidding at all.
Shouldn't he have known this at the entrance ceremony?
A school for monsters. He was in a school for monsters! He had stupidly and unwittingly gone to a school for monsters!
"Does everyone understand this?" Ms. Nekonome asked seriously. "This is our first key of survival among the humans. To practice the art of disguise, please do not reveal your true nature, even to your fellow students."
"But can't we just eat all the humans ma'am?" asked one of the students. He had long brown hair that reached his neck and some piercings on his face. "I could start with all the cute girls."
For some reason, Netto felt angered by that remark. Eat humans, the cute girls especially? That was not something he would just tolerate. He heard whispers, "Hey, isn't that Saizou Komiya? Wasn't he sent here for causing trouble in the human world?"
"You can't do that!" Nekonome-sensei smiled as if one of her students hadn't just said something about eating people. "And there's no need to worry about humans. All the faculty members and fellow students are monsters just like you. This school exists behind a special barrier so no humans have ever seen it. Well, seen it and lived."
'Seen it and lived?' Netto repeated in his mind. Now he was starting to get nervous. He was a single human in a school filled with monsters-disguised-as-humans. How long until they realized he was human?
"I'm sorry!" a voice said as the door slid opened. "I got lost in the halls after the welcoming ceremony…and…sorry I'm late!"
"Ara, that's alright," Nekonome-sensei smiled at the student. "Just take whatever empty seat you find."
Netto looked to see who had come in and his eyes widened. It was the super cute vampire that he'd met this morning! He blushed while all the male students in the room began to gape at her beauty. Suddenly all the boys stood up from their seats, save for Netto, gaping as they saw the beautiful Moka trying to find her desk. The way she walked down the aisles of desks made her look almost like a model walking down the strip. She certainly had the face and figure for such an occupation. Thus, an altered deja-vu occurred.
"So kawaii..."
"That hair... those eyes..."
"I want to embrace her!"
"No way that's a disguise," one of the boys drooled. "She's just too…"
"BEAUTIFUL!" the collected boys roared.
Moka seemed to be a little surprised at how the entire classroom seemed to be reacting to her entry. It didn't even occur to her that she was really that beautiful. Still, she continued down the aisle toward an empty desk. As she got closer, she noticed a familiar face.
"Ah, Netto-kun?" Moka asked in surprise.
Netto smiled with a wave, through a blush was evident on his face, "Moka, I didn't expect to see you again so soon!"
"Me too!" Moka squealed as she jumped forward and trapped him in a tight embrace. Shinichi couldn't help but smile at the way she greeted her first friend here, although the other boys and girls in class weren't amused.
"The hell?!" one of the boys shouted.
"They're hugging!" a girl yelled.
"Oh, come on man!" another boy cried.
"No~... our chance went pass before we could even get started..." another girl moaned dramatically.
So it appeared to be that both Netto and Moka were the most desired students in school, judging from the cries and moans of the the other students. Although, with the hottest girl in school, lying on top of the cutest boy in school, it was looking like some kind of soap opera, in a good way.
Although not everyone was happy with it. Saizou was giving Moka a lecherous look as well. He snaked his tongue out lightly. He'd just found his target and something new to play with. The guy she was with of no consequence and would be collateral damage anyway. Netto looked weak anyway.
"Wow!" Moka gasped as she took in one of the main hallways of the school. "This place is so clean! Neat!"
Once homeroom class ended, Moka immediately wanted to explore Youkai Academy. Not having much else to do, Netto was joining her for the ride. Actually, the poor boy was getting dragged around by the excitable vampire, not that he minded.
Netto was quickly learning that Moka was a lot stronger than she looked. Way stronger. She was also an architecture nut. She loved new and old buildings because of the way that they were built. He was also learning that they weren't just enchanting the kids in their class. Everywhere they went Netto could see jaws drop and eyes bulge as they went past them.
Not known to either of them, rumors were spreading that Netto and Moka were some kind of couple. They were taken. And that seemed to burn a lot of the other students raw. Of course, that only made people want them even more.
"Hey, um Moka? Can we take a break? I could go for a drink," Netto said, "Want something?" When Netto had said 'drink' her green eyes had gone towards his neck and she licked her lips. As if on reflex, he clasped his throat, "Not in front of everyone."
"Ah, gomen," Moka blushed quickly. "Actually, I like drinking tomato juice too."
"Alright then, let me show you something really cool," Netto said, walking to a nearby vending machine. He pressed his hand against the machine and his eyes glowed blue. Circuitry patterns appeared all over the machine and flashed brightly before disappearing just as quickly. Two cans soon popped out of the vending machine. Netto grabbed both cans and tossed the one marked with a tomato to Moka, who was amazed by the unusual ability she had never seen before.
"Sugoi..." Moka whispered in awe as she caught her can. Opening the lid, she asked, "What kind of power was that? I've never seen it before."
"It's called technokinesis," Netto answered after taking a drink from his soda. "I have the ability to control any machine however I want."
"Really?" Moka said, after gulping down her tomato juice, "That's amazing! I've never heard of a monster who could do something like that! Just what kind of monster are you, Netto-kun?"
"Isn't that against the rules?" he reminded.
"Oh, I forgot! But you already know I'm a vampire so I thought it'd be alright," she said.
"That's cool I guess," Netto shrugged.
"Still, technokinesis sounds like an awesome power!" Moka beamed, "I wish I could do something like that, then I wouldn't have so much problems with computers and other complicated machinery."
"Machines aren't always that complicated," Netto reassured her, "The trick is understanding how they work. But some people just don't want to take the time to figure them out. That's why they end up as techno-phobes."
"You have a point," Moka agreed, tilting her head slightly.
Netto couldn't help but blush again, 'So cute...' Moka didn't look much like a vampire in all honesty. Last time he remembered, vampires were supposed to be undead beings that couldn't even survive in the daylight. They were also always thirsty for blood, and they would always drain their victims dry. Moka didn't fit the description at all. Maybe because she was a different kind of vampire. Well, he may as well ask her later. As they were talking, a long-haired young man with a lip piercing came around the corner and leaned on the wall behind Moka.
"Hey, babe," the boy said as he leaned against the wall with his arms crossed and looking at Moka. "Moka Akashiya, right? Man, looks like I'm not the only one who thinks you're cute."
"Um, thanks," Moka nodded. "Who are you?"
"Ah, the name's Saizou," the boy introduced with a grin. "I'm one of your classmates."
"Oh…um," Moka nodded. "Good to meet you…I suppose."
"I'm sure. By the way," Saizou grinned before he reached out and suddenly grabbed Netto by the lapel of his jacket. Moka gasped in shock while Netto struggled with the other teen's strength. "Why is a girl like you hanging out with a complete wimp like this?"
"Hey man, what's your deal?!" Netto spat.
"Just stay out of the way of us real Youkai. A weakling like you doesn't deserve Moka," Saizou threatened.
"You think so, huh?" Netto grinned. Saizou cocked his eyebrow at the change of expression, but suddenly started screaming out in pain as volts of electricity arced through the large boy's body. The pain eventually became too much for him to handle and he soon released Netto, dropping him to his feet. Netto rubbed the wrinkles out of his shirt and returned Saizou's glare with his own. "I don't think the lady appreciates the gesture. So back off."
"You... son of a bitch..." Saizou snarled, smoke sizzling from his body.
Moka immediately got between Netto and Saizou. "I'm sorry, but we're in a hurry! Bye!" She grabbed Netto's arm and dragged her friend away quickly to safety.
Saizou, who had just been humiliated, started to snarl. He dusted off his uniform and gave a glare to the students still staring at him. They backed off. His eyes went down the end of the hallway where Netto and Moka had fled. He trembled with rage, veins appearing across his forehead, as he clenched his fists.
"Kusanagi...!"
Taking refuge in one of the smaller hallways, Moka took a moment to catch her breath while Netto tried to smooth his uniform out. He was also trying to keep his temper in check. If there was one thing he couldn't stand, it was bullies.
"Woo! That was scary!" Moka sighed. She turned to her friend. "I didn't know you could generate lightning too!"
"I have a lot of surprises," Netto smiled. "Saizou is just all talk and no bite. He thinks he's all that, but intimidation is all he's good at."
"Well, it was really nice of you. Thank you!" Moka smiled brightly.
"Ah, I'd do it again in a heartbeat," Netto smiled. "You're my friend aren't you?"
Moka didn't think she could smile any brighter if she tried. Netto was really turning out to be a wonderful friend, "Still, I don't want my only friend to get in trouble."
"What do you mean your only friend?" asked Netto in confusion. "I would have figured a nice girl like you would have made a whole mob of friends by now."
Moka giggled and stepped forward to stand in front of Netto. She had a shy blush on her cheeks and she averted her gaze. Netto couldn't help but also avert his eyes shyly as she got nearer.
"Well…I'm not too good at making friends," Moka admitted. "And besides…"
"Besides what?" asked Netto.
"You've already let me suck your blood!" Moka smiled with a flush on your face. "You should be proud since your blood is just awesome! The texture, the aroma, the vitality, and there's even something in it I've never tasted before! Delicious!"
Rubbing his neck, Netto joked, "Geez, I never thought a friend would comment how great I tasted. I feel like a snack plate."
Moka giggled again. Taking part in the laughs, Netto and his new friend headed for the exit. They still had to deal with some boys who fell for Moka on the spot and started cursing Netto for his luck to hang out with such a hot girl.
"Hey, I was meaning to ask," Netto began, "You don't look all that much like a vampire."
"Oh, that's because of this seal," Moka said, pointing at the cross hanging from her choker. "If it gets taken off, I turn into a REALLY SCARY vampire," she said dramatically with her hands raised like claws.
"You... don't say..." Netto stammered.
"So um, where did you go to school before?" Moka asked.
"I never went to a school," Netto denied. "I was home schooled by my gramps. Actually, I don't remember when I started getting home schooled."
"Oh, what's that like?" Moka asked.
"It's fine for the most part," Netto answered. "Although, it can be somewhat boring. Never had anyone to talk to aside from my gramps. Though there was also Wolfy and Sunny to talk to, but that was just it."
"I can understand how that's like," Moka nodded, "I didn't have much people to talk to either before I met you. In fact, I didn't have anyone at all."
Netto blinked, "What do mean? Didn't you have any friends before?" Moka fell silent. Her head moved down to the point that her eyes were covered by her bangs, "...Moka?"
"...I... I went to a human school once," she finally admitted. "And it was horrible! They didn't believe in vampires, and so they mocked me for saying I was one! I never had a friend there!" Her fangs clenched as tears started running down her eyes, "They're nothing but a race of cruel and heartless people! I just hate them!"
Netto suddenly felt a verbal arrow pierced his heart. Moka hated humans? Because of trouble in her old school? That was... harsh. And what did that make him? After all, he was human too, right? What would happen between them if he told her he was human? He didn't want to lose her as a friend, but was also hurt that she talked about humans like that.
Realizing that her old middle school experiences were hurting her, Netto quickly took her into comforting hug. Moka, slightly surprised, slowly returned the hug and sobbed on his shoulders.
"It's... it's okay," Netto said finally, his voice hoarse, "Don't cry Moka. And don't worry. Even if there are cruel humans out there in the world, there are some nice ones too."
"How... can you be so sure?..." Moka choked slightly.
"Just trust me, I know," Netto smiled, releasing her so to wipe the tears from her eyes, "So don't cry alright? I promise."
"...If you say so," Moka smiled weakly, her eyes still puffy.
"Good," Netto smiled back, "So, how about we find those dormitories?"
"Okay!" Moka chirped, her voice becoming chipper again. "Come on, I'll sure you were the boy's dormitory is!"
"So... this is the place, huh?" Netto managed to say at the sight of the dormitories. The dormitories looked like condemned flats that had been left abandoned. Like a set of a horror movie involving an escaped mental patient who had taken the building as his home and would kill any and all trespassers.
"It really has a nice and unique charm, doesn't it?" Moka smiled.
"Yes, unique..." he managed to say, pretending to agree. "Well, I guess I should head up to my dorm. Thanks for hanging out with me. You sure you can walk to the girl's dorm by yourself? It's all the way on the other side from here."
"Don't worry, I'll be fine," Moka reassured him, "Just get yourself packed and ready for tomorrow."
"Right, see you then," Netto nodded with a wave. Moka waved back as she ran off to her dorm. Netto turned to face the dorm and walked over to the entrance.
Of course, the dorm's design was the least of his worries now.
He had to figure out way to break the truth to Moka without making her hate him.
Moka walked through the woods to the girls' dorm, hanging her bag over her shoulders as she enjoyed the sites around her. She was happy that she finally made a new friend today. Most people seemed to ignore her, bully her, or both. And as an added bonus, he was a cutie with tasty blood! Moka couldn't help but blush brightly as she remember the taste and scent. Maybe she could have another bite next time. Of course, maybe she could try asking. No one liked having their blood taken from them without warning.
Although, there was something off she noticed about him. When she told him that she hated humans, he looked like he was somehow hurt by her words. But how could he? He couldn't be human himself, right? No humans knew about Youkai Academy. Maybe he knew humans? But he said that he didn't have anyone but his gramps and two others, so how could that be?
Then again, think back to his blood, it was oddly delicious and sweet for Youkai blood. Her eldest sister, Akua, once told her that human blood was like fine wine for vampires, especially if the human was a virgin. She also said that human blood is especially tasty when they're doing... this and that.
Oh great, now she was having perverted fantasies of her and Netto doing this and that. Thanks a lot, Akua!
Said perverted fantasy was interrupted, thankfully, when she heard some rustling behind her. As she turned around, she ask, "Did you forget something, Net-" she stopped herself as she found that was not Netto who had followed her, but the bully Saizou.
"Sorry, babe. But it's just me," Saizou grinned ferally.
"Saizou! What do you want?" Moka asked.
"Why you want anything to do with that punk is beyond me," Saizo sneered. "Come on, why not go with a real Yokai... like ME!" He then began to change right before her eyes. His body began to expand until his clothes, save for his pants, were shredded. His shoes also couldn't contain his transformation, causing them to tear apart as his feet grew larger. His nails grew into claws, his hair became wilder, and Saizou's face became more monstrous as his teeth became razor sharp. Some bony growths also emerged from his chest, his forearms, shins and he also had spikes protruding from his spine and shoulders. Finally, his tongue snaked out of his mouth. Moka was taken aback by Saizou's orc form.
The Monster Encyclopedia Database
Orc: Thuggish, grotesque bruts, orcs are ruthless beasts who love to cause trouble. They'll eat anything they don't like, and they don't like anything. They're tempers are also very nasty, and if they don't get what they want, they go on rampages. Deal with these creatures with caution.
"Saizo!" Moka shouted. "We're not supposed to transform!"
"Sorry, this is just what happens when I get nervous around cute girls like you," Saizo growled menacingly. "Besides, it doesn't matter; we're not on school grounds anymore. Come on, Moka, show me what you really look like." He lunged at Moka with his abnormally long and thin tongue, wrapping it around her. Moka screamed in abject horror from the feeling of his saliva leaking into her clothes and skin.
Just before Netto reached the door, he heard a scream from a female voice, "Moka?"
Dropping his things, he raced from the door and rushed through forest where Moka was walking through. So what if Moka is a vampire? So what if she hated humans? She was the first friend he ever made and he didn't want to lose her. He told her that not all humans were cruel and heartless. So it was time to prove it to her.
Stealing his resolve, the soles of his feat glowed bright blue as electricity sparked from them. With each passing second, Netto's speed increased, allowing him to move, faster, and faster, and faster, a blue glow washing over him. And then...
BOOM!
He shot off like a comet, plowing through the dirt, rocks and trees. At the rate he was going, he would get to Moka in no time flat.
"You can scream all you like, baby. Ain't no one gonna hear you," Saizou laughed as he pulled Moka closer with his tongue, "Now gimme a kiss!"
"Noooooooooooo!" Moka cried in fear.
A loud rumble interrupted Saizou from getting into Moka's skirt, causing the both of them to look at the direction the sound came from. To their surprise, they saw several trees being thrown into the air as whatever was causing it drew nearer, the noise getting louder as it did. In a loud boom, an aura blasted through the trees before them and plowed into Saizou, causing him to fly backwards and release his grip from Moka. The aura vanished as soon as it stopped, revealing it to be Netto who was struggling to keep his balance.
"Whew!" Netto panted, slowly keeping his knees straight. "I almost forgot how hard the Speed Booster is to control!"
"Netto-kun!" Moka cried happily.
"Ah, Moka," Netto smiled back at her, "You alright? I saw what that Saizou guy was about do to you. I hope he didn't hurt you."
"Kusanagi..." Netto and Moka turned around, startled. Before them, Saizou was slowly getting back up to his feet. And he looked absolutely pissed. "I owe you for that little shock therapy you gave me before. Since you're here now, I can pay you back with interest!"
"You might wanna hold of on that," Netto said, an electrical charge suddenly appearing on his forehead. A blue spear of lightning sudden shot out and struck the orc against the chest, blasting him backwards. Quickly, Netto picked up Moka bridal style, causing her to blush from the contact, and started leaping through the trees. Saizou got up, holding his chest, and roared angrily at the retreating pair.
"KUSANAGI!"
Netto bounced along the trees and lept through the branches, using all the speed he could muster to gain as much distance from Saizou as much as possible. He stopped nearby a lake which, much to his surprise, didn't look anything like blood. After landing, he set Moka down gently and kneeled next to her.
"Saizou might have a lot of muscle now, but hopefully he's not fast," Netto said. "You'll be fine."
"Th-thanks," Moka nodded, still shaking from the experience. "I'm so glad you came to help me."
Netto nodded, and then look back at where they both lost Saizou. He sighed and sat down, feeling that they wouldn't be seeing him for at least a few more minutes. Looking back at Moka, he saw that she was still trying to recover from nearly being raped. He didn't want to upset her anymore that she already was, but if he had to tell her, he might as well do it now. "Hey Moka," he began, "Remember when I told you that not all humans are as bad as you think they are?"
"Yes?" Moka answered, "What did you mean by that?"
"Well, that's because I'm one of them," he admitted. Moka immediately gasped.
"Wha-?" Moka gasped. "You? Human?"
"In technicality, I'm a cyborg," he continued. "Short of cybernetic organism. That means I have some cybernetic organs along with organic ones. Even though I can do all the things I showed you, I'm still one hundred percent human. I wanted to tell you, but you said you hated humans. I... was afraid of losing your friendship."
Moka looked down sadly. She did say that she hated humans. Now it seems like she hurt her new friend without knowing it.
"But it doesn't matter anymore!" Netto continued, "I said I was gonna prove to you that not all humans are bad, so I'm gonna show you! What kind of friend would I be if you let that Saizou asshole do what he wanted to you?"
Moka looked at him in surprise. Even after all that she said, he still wanted to protect her? He had been nothing but kind to her... even if he was human. She remembered back his face when she'd made that statement to him, how heartbroken he looked. And he still wanted to help her. "Netto-kun... I'm so sorry. You came for me, even after everything I said about hating humans you still came to save me. I want to make it all up to you soon."
Netto felt himself smiling as he heard her words. Moka soon smiled back. It seemed like everything was going to be just fine...
"KUSANAGI!" the trees behind them uprooted in a second, causing the sweet moment to be interrupted. Netto and Moka looked back, startled, as Saizou stomped towards them. "Gotcha, you little shits!" he snarled.
"He's faster than I thought," Netto frowned, "He must of a keen sense of smell too." Instantly, he stood up and moved in front of Moka, arms spread out, "Stay away from her, gruesome!"
"Make me, you little pussy!" Saizou roared as he charged forward. Thinking quickly, Netto dropped to Moka and grabbed her in a protective hug as an electromagnetic barrier formed around them, just as Saizou threw his meaty fists at them. The first bounce backwards from the impact, causing a fizzling hum to sound and Saizou to shriek from the shock. Roaring out in rage, he smashed both of his fists against the barrier, causing it to hum further and further with each it. And with each hit, Netto winced. Moka worriedly took notice.
"My Tesla Barrier isn't going to hold if he keeps this up!" Netto muttered painfully, "Moka! You have to make a run for it!"
"No! I'm not leaving you!" Moka cried.
"Sorry, but this isn't the right time for an argument!" Netto yelled pushing her away, causing the barrier to vanish. As he did his fingers hooked around the cross Moka wore, causing it too...
SNAP!
"Huh?" Netto blinked, looking at the the rosary in his fingers, "Oh crap! Sorry Moka!" He turned to return it to her, only to find to his surprise that a black and red aura was slowly fading into view around her.
"You... broke my... seal...?" Moka managed to say before her eyes began to dull. He then remembered what she'd told him earlier:
"Oh, that's because of this seal," Moka said, pointing at the cross hanging from her choker. "If it gets taken off, I turn into a REALLY SCARY vampire," she said dramatically with her hands raised like claws.
"Oh... crap," Netto gulped for the second time.
Saizou suddenly froze in the midst of his rampage as he too felt the intense supernatural energy swelling up from Moka. "What's going on!" Saizou yelled, suddenly frightened by the massive wave of power. "This aura is totally insane. What the hell is she?!"
Day turned into night as black swarming bats flew out of the sky and merged with Moka's form. When all the bats merged with her, the was a massive shockwave of demonic energy, causing both boys to shield themselves before it all died down. Her hair began to turn silver. She grew a few inches until she stood a few inches taller than Netto. Her already ample chest swelled until it snapped one of the buttons off her uniform. Her nails sharpened, making her hands look more mature and giving them the appearance that they could cut through almost anything. Then, she smiled. It looked beautiful, seductive, confident, wicked, and terrifying all at the same time. When she smiled her already sharp canines had lengthened to even deadlier fangs. Then she opened her eyes. As they focused, both boys could see that they had turned crimson with black cat-like slits.
Netto could only stare at Moka after her transformation. She looked radically different, almost like a different person. She looked… more sensual, than before. She exuded a kind of sexuality that would make men drop to their knees, but he could feel the danger which was underneath it. This girl was dangerous!
"I don't believe this!" Saizou gawked. He didn't know if he should be afraid, turned on, or both, "Those crimson eyes... the unbelievably sharp teeth! She's the monster that all other monsters fear; an elite S-Class lifeform... a vampire!"
"So this is what Moka meant when she said 'REALLY SCARY'," Netto muttered to himself.
The Monster Encyclopedia Database
Vampire: Vampires are beautiful, sensual, and deadly creatures. They're most common trait is that they feed on the blood of living beings. Proud and arrogant, they refuse to show weakness or sympathy to their enemies. These are some of the many traits that cause other monsters to fear them.
The new Moka looked towards Netto with a slight huff, "So you're the one who awakened me from my slumber," the she remarked to Netto in a coldly measured tone. Even her voiced had gone through a change. It went from bright and cutsie, to mature and forcefully in just a few short seconds. "While it was brave for you to protect my other self, it was also foolish to put yourself in harm's way against a much superior opponent. You should know your place."
"I was only protecting you," Netto retorted. Inner Moka glared.
"Which is why I must repay the debt," said Inner Moka before casting a glare towards the orc Saizou, "By showing this brute his place." She walked towards Saizou who was shivering in fear and anticipation. Inner Moka was frightening, but also hot as hell. His hormones got the best of him and made the decision for him as he lunged towards her. However, she kicked her foot up and aimed it at his face. Out of sheer reflex, he brought up his arms to blow the impact, hopefully to lessen the damage. Foot met arms as Saizou was blasted backwards, sending him crashing through gravestones and slammed nearby the pond.
"Shit..." Saizou cursed, slowly getting up. It was a good thing he blocked the attack, otherwise he'd be out cold by now. He looked up a nearly crapped himself as Inner Moka approached.
"What's the matter?" taunted Inner Moka, "Didn't you want to make me yours? Why don't you come over and try and give me a hug?" She scoffed, "How pathetic." She cracked her knuckles. "Now, know your place."
"Get the fuck away from me!" Saizou shouted, taking a handful of water and throwing it Inner Moka's face. The vampire's eyes widened and quickly moved to the side to avoid getting wet. However, it hit her shoulder the moment she moved. While not many people would be bugged by water, it was a huge problem for vampires.
"Neh!" Inner Moka cried out as her arm feel numbed. Electrical like energy arched around her.
Netto looked on in surprise as the new, confident and powerful Moka was suddenly looking weak after being splashed. As he was wondering what was happening, Saizou looked on in surprise as well. Slowly, something dawned on to him as he slowly chuckled and let out a full blown laugh.
"HEHEHAHAHAHA~! That's right! I totally forgot!" Saizou laughed, "As much as you vampires like talking good shit, none of you like getting hit with water! It sucks away your power, doesn't it!?"
"What?" Netto blinked.
"Che!" Inner Moka cursed. Of all the times her weakness had to be revealed.
"Water is one of a vampire's main weaknesses!" Saizou explained, his malice grin returning, "If hit with enough, they are not only weakened, but paralyzed too!" He took both of his hands and scooped up two hand fulls of water, "You look like you could use a drink! Can't let you have my blood of course, but I hope this will suffice!" He started laughing out loud as he started shooting water bullets like a machine gun. Using the power she had left, she quickly jumped and weaved away from the water shots narrowly avoiding most, but a few stuck her, causing her to grow weaker and move slower.
Netto gritted his teeth as he watched her getting pummeled. She wasn't looking so good now, and if he didn't do something, she could get killed! Vampire or no, he wasn't about to let that happen. Deciding that the fight had gone on long enough, he unzipped his belt back and reached into it to grab something.
"Oi, oi! Is this as good for you as it is for me?!" Saizou laughed as he continued shooting water from the pond. "I'm gonna have my fun with you! I'm going to screw you in all your holes, make you beg for more, and then I'm going to kill you and eat you up!"
"SAIZOU!"
"Eh?" Saizou stopped from his gun slinging and turned to were the voice came from. There, he found Netto walking towards him.
"Hey," he began, holding a piece of shrapnel in his fingers, "You know what a railgun is?"
"Rail... gun...?" Saizou frowned, cocking an eyebrow.
"What do you think you're doing?" Inner Moka demanded, holding herself with her body almost completely drenched.
"Also known as a super-electromagnetic gun," Netto continued, halting and looking at the sharpnel. "By making use of Fleming's kinetic momentum, one is able to launch projectiles..." he flicked the sharpnel up into the air, causing a chime to sound as it feel up. As gravity took hold of it, Netto pointed his folded thumb at Saizou, "...in a matter like THIS!" he finished, flicking the metal at Saizou as if formed into a bright beam of light. The orc was unable to react in time as the "railgun attack" hit him directly into the chest, sending him flying above the pond and through the trees. Said pond actually remained still before a gale suddenly cut through the path Saizou went through, indicating that it was over sound barrier levels. There was a loud boom beyond the forest, meaning that Saizou had landed and was not going to be getting up anytime soon. "Even a something as small as a metal shrapnel has a fair amount of force when launched at three times the speed of sound," Netto finished, running his fingers through his hair. "I guess he was all talk after all."
"Indeed." Netto nearly jumped up after hearing a voice behind him. Doing a 180, he saw Inner Moka standing in front him with her arms fold under her chest, with her crimson eyes staring right at him.
'How did she...' Netto thought to himself.
Inner Moka noticed his startled expression and started to grin, "What's the matter? Are you afraid of this version of me?"
"Wh... what happened to you?" Netto asked, startled.
"Ah, that's right. My other self didn't explain to you properly," Inner Moka realized. "The rosary that you removed. It is what seals my true power and form."
"And you," Netto concluded.
"Exactly," Inner Moka nodded. "After my power was sealed years ago, the Moka you know developed and I simply fell asleep until today."
"And the reason for you wakening up today would be...?"
"You," Inner Moka finished for him.
"Me?" Netto blinked. Inner Moka placed her finger underneath his chin and raised it just enough for his eyes to met hers.
"You were our first, Netto Kusanagi," the vampire whispered, taking great joy in watching his blush. "The first time we drank from a living being. And I'm not sure whether it was the act, the taste, which was delicious by the way, or something in your blood, but whatever it was, woke me from my slumber."
"Wow," Netto said, still crimson, "My blood's like some kind of energy drink for vampires. Like a '24-Hour Energy Drink'."
"Are you afraid I might drain you dry right now?" she asked playfully.
"If I told you what I was thinking you probably would," Netto said.
"Hn," she flicked his nose, causing him to cover it from the sudden shock, and stood upright, "While I admit that you really are nothing more than a juice box for me, my other self does care for you. Either way, I have no intention of harming you." She stretched out her hand, "I'll take my seal back now." Netto nodded slowly and put the rosary into her hand. Before she placed the seal back, she said, "Until I'm needed again, be sure to protect the other Moka."
Netto watched as she touched the rosary to its chain, attaching instantly. The enormous aura faded almost immediately and Moka collapsed against his chest. Her hair instantly turned pink again and she became the Moka who Netto was more familiar with, sleeping soundly with a smile on her face.
The next day, news of Saizou's defeat spread like wildfire. Some said that he was electrocuted by an angry thunderbird. Other said that he picked a fight with raijin and lost horribly. Either way, they all knew that his lost had to do with the electrical blast that was heard yesterday. Of course, there were also rumors that there was a vampire among them. The heavy demonic presence that was felt could not be ignored.
As Netto was walking to school, he was greeted by Moka, who nearly knocked him over with her half-tackle, half-hug.
"Hey, Moka," Netto smiled half heartedly. "You feeling better?"
"Yes, I am," Moka reassured him. Then she moved closer to him and whispered, "Hey, Netto-kun... it doesn't matter to me what you are," Moka whispered. "You're my first real friend, and I don't want to lose you."
"You're my first friend in a long time, Moka," Netto admitted. "I don't want to lose you, either."
"So we'll stay together, won't we, Netto-kun?"
"We will," Netto smiled, "Hey... you think I could call you... Moka-chan now?"
Moka blushed as she smiled, "Of course."
Almost like in a romantic fantasy, Netto and Moka stared soulfully into each other's eyes, thinking of nothing except each other. Moka leaned closer to him, and Netto, thinking she was going to kiss him, leaned closer to her. As it turned out, she did kiss him... just not on the lips.
Her lips found their way to his neck, accompanying a bite with her fangs to access his blood. Netto winced in slight pain, only to shortly be overcome with a warm, pleasant sensation. "Aaaa... Moka-chan..."
Moka pulled back. "Sorry... I can't help myself when I'm near you. I think your blood just might be addictive!"
"It's fine, Moka-chan," Netto said, feeling his wound heal.
"So, there's something I wanted to ask you," Moka began, walking hand in hand with him to school, "How did you find Youkai Academy in the first place."
"Oh, I didn't find it," Netto told her, "I client of mine gave the aplication to go here."
"You're client?" Moka blinked.
"Yeah," Netto nodded. "He told me that he was the Headmaster of this school and asked if I wanted to come here. I thought I could take the chance."
Meanwhile, in a dark an undisclosed location, someone was viewing a map on a computer screen. On the screen was a dot that was pulsing repeatedly.
"It seems that he has finally started to awake," a sinister voice spoke. Laughing briefly, he gave a command, "Zeus!"
A smaller screen opened on the bottom left hand corner. The screen was just as dark as the room, so it was hard to tell who it was. However, there was malevolent storm blue eyes glowing in the dark.
"You called?" a voice boomed from the screen.
"It is time," the other voice ordered. "You know what to do."
"Of course," Zeus obeyed. The screen winked out.
The man grinned brightly in the darkness, "It won't be long now... soon everything will come down in place. Ehehehe..."
