K.L.A.W.

The residents fled as a rampaging beast came into their town. It had just flipped a car before unleashing an inhuman bellow. It then charged at a wall, breaking through a building. Meanwhile, a young girl and boy were watching this rampage with interest. While most others would have been terrified or at least wary, the pair didn't seem to be afraid of the beast. In fact, their faces were akin to those watching a film they had seen several times before: they already knew everything they needed to know and only watched because they knew they had to.

"Looks like a wild Boarbatusk just wandered into town," said the girl. She had long dark hair with bang framing her face. She had fair skin and storm blue eyes. Her outfit consisted of a black tanktop with a red leather jacket on top, black short shorts and black knee-high boots. She also wore black gloves. On the back of her jacket was a Heart with a phoenix inside.

"I think someone should take care of that before it does even more damage," said the boy. He was dressed in a blue gi top over a black turtleneck with a sash around his waist. He also wore blue jeans and brown combat boots. He also wore brown, fingerless gloves with armored padding on the back of his hands and forearms. His long hair was auburn, slightly messy on top, with the rest pulled and tied into a braid. On his forehead was a pair of goggles which despite being obviously well cared for, looked extremely old..On the back of his gi was a blue Spade with a Chinese dragon inside.

Believe it or not, they were brother and sister, twins in fact.

"Looks like it's time to cook some bacon," the girl grinned as she produced a weapon which resembled two curved blades joined together to form a bow, the handle looking like interlocking sword grips. The boy also drew his weapon, which resembled a hi-tech katana. The blade was segmented and looked unusually thick, like it was made to come apart. "Otouto, let's go!"

"Hai, Onee-chan!" the boy said as he pulled his goggles over his green eyes. The two of them charged at the Boarbatusk together. The girl pulled the string of her bow and conjured energy arrows made of flames. Releasing the string, she sent the array of arrows flying to hit the Boarbatusk in the back. The beast roared and turned its four eyes at them. It then charged at the two teens coming at it.

The girl jumped out of the way as the boy jumped up before twirling in the air. The Boarbatusk skidded to a halt as its prey had gotten out of range. The girl landed on a truck as the boy stood a distance away, running his fingers along the blunt side of his blade. Electricity began to crackle along the length of the blade. The Boarbatusk charged, ready to gouge him with its tusk. However, he was prepared for it.

"Raijin!" With a downward stroke, he sent a lightning array at the Boarbatusk that hit its tusks and then surged along its body, stunning it painfully. The girl then took aim and fired arrows of ice which penetrated the Boarbatusk's hide. The attack drew no blood, instead a black dust came from the wounds. It did cause the beast pain as it howled again painfully. The boy then rushed at the stunned beast and swung his blade, which now had a miniature tornado surrounding it.

"Fuujin!" he called and with an upward stroke he lifted the Boarbatusk into the air. The girl leapt and let her arrows fly, penetrating its underbelly, before she slashed with the blade of her bow. The arrows, already weakening the tough flesh by tearing holes in it, allowed the blade to cut through the hide much more easily than it could on its own. The Boarbatusk was cut in half, spilling its guts, as the girl landed next to her brother. The Boarbatusk's two halves then landed on the ground. Now dead, the beast started to smoke as it slowly began to dissolve into the black dust that it bled.

"You know, if that pig wasn't a Grimm, you'd probably be able to cook it up. We haven't been able to eat pork in ages," the girl said to the boy. "Speaking of which..." Her stomach growled, "Are you hungry?"

"Starving," said the boy. "Come on, Onee-chan. There's a diner on the other side of town."

"You had me at diner."

(LINE BREAK)

Sitting together at the counter of a diner, the twins partook in their meal. The mood of what patrons were in the diner was tense, but celebratory. The slaying of a Grimm was always good news but people always worried if there was another one lurking around to pick up where the dead one left off. Still, the twins were there to relax and have something to eat. As soon as boy took his first bite though, he grimaced. His sister noticed this and remarked, "You're not going to complain, are you?"

"No," he answered. "Although, if I could, I would tell the chef the right way to prepare a burger."

"Well, you do know your food," she agreed. If there was anyone who could cook a burger into a world-class gourmet standard, it would be her brother. It was just a shame he didn't often get the chance. His cooking was to die for.

At a nearby table sat a man who seemed interested in the brother and sister. He was dressed in a very dark green coat and pants with a lighter green shirt under a dark green vest. A green scarf was wrapped around his neck with a purple and silver cross on the front. He had gray hair despite being a man in his prime and he sported stylish sunglasses with dark lenses. He was having a cup of coffee.

Earlier, he had witnessed the two teens fighting. Of course his interest wasn't completely in their fighting skills. Rather, he was more interested in the mystery surrounding them. Deciding to use the direct approach, he stood up, leaving his cup of coffee on the table to speak to them.

"Pardon me, but are your names Leo Narukawa and Kat Hasuma?" the man asked. Kat and Leo turned to regard the man.

"Who wants to know?" Kat asked, clearly suspicious of the man already.

"May I sit?" he asked politely. The twins nodded and he pulled up a chair and sat between the two. The man proceeded to take out several photographs from his coat pocket and laid them out on the counter. There were pictures of the twins.

"This picture was taken ten years ago," the man pointed to one of the photos. "This one was taken 25 years ago," he pointed at another. He finally stopped at the last, "And this one was taken 50 years ago." In each of the photos, Leo and Kat remained unchanged save for the clothing they wore. Around them, there were clear signs of the technology and modern buildings being older and older than the modern standard. Kat's eyes narrowed as she glared at the man as Leo gripped his sword.

"Who are you?" Kat hissed.

"Just someone curious about the two of you," he said. "May we sit at my table? I'd prefer at least a little privacy for our conversation."

The brother and sister, after the man picked up and put away the pictures, took a seat at his table. Leo and Kat sat next to each other across from the man who sipped on his coffee.

"Who are you?" Kat repeated.

"My name is Professor Ozpin. I am the Headmaster of Beacon Academy," the man, Ozpin, answered. Again, he didn't seem overly concerned about his situation given he was talking with two people who could kill him two on one if given half a chance. Considering he obviously had vital and dangerous information on them, it was an option they would have to consider.

"The elite academy for Hunters?" Leo questioned.

"Huntsmen and Huntresses," the man corrected, "But you are correct."

"So, what is the Headmaster of such a prestigious academy doing in a diner like this tonight?" Kat questioned.

"Oh, I've just been tracking the two of you down," said Ozpin, "And I must say you both aren't that easy to track. You never seem to stay in the same place for long. You hardly interact with anyone, making it difficult for anyone to follow your actions since no one seems to know you and you tend to blend in very well."

"We're travelers," answered Leo.

"Indeed, and not just travelers but warriors. I saw how you both took down that Boarbatusk. You are both quite skilled. Then again, after decades of experience, you must have gained plenty of skill," said Ozpin.

"How do you know those are us?" Kat questioned. "I mean, it could just be relatives of ours..."

"With such an uncanny resemblance? I don't think so," Ozpin countered. "So, is it really you in those pictures?"

Kat and Leo shared a look. Could they reveal to this man the truth?

"I understand. You don't trust me," said Ozpin. "That's wise. You shouldn't easily trust anyone."

"So, are we done here?" Kat asked, crossing her arms. She already didn't like the man and just wanted to get his business finished with. He knew way too much for her liking and she didn't want him to know any more than he needed. Too many people would do just about anything to have the information they did and try to use it for themselves.

"Actually, I have an offer for the two of you," said Ozpin, sipping his coffee. "How would you like to join my school?"

Kat and Leo's eyes widened. Was Ozpin inviting them to join Beacon Academy as students? Beacon was a very exclusive school and only the best could get in there. Of course, the only way one could even show they had the skill was to attend the lower tier schools which were connected to Beacon and even then entry into those places was difficult. The twins had honed their skills for. . . a long time so they never felt the need to join a school just to go over everything they already knew.

"Hold on," Kat raised her hand. "What's in it for us? What's in it for you?"

"You're both talented," said Ozpin, "But neither of you are certified Hunters. That can draw the wrong kind of attention, the kind that you two obviously don't want. Beacon can give you both education and certification."

"We don't need certification," Kat retorted.

"Maybe, but you both do need a home," Ozpin replied. "You travel, but you don't have a place to call home."

That was true. All they ever did was travel, never staying in one place, always going from one place to another. They never felt at home anywhere, not when the people and places they could call home ended up disappearing so long ago.

"Home's been gone for a long time," said Leo.

"Also, maybe you could do well in an environment with fellow aspiring warriors," said Ozpin.

"You know, this could work," said Kat, considering Ozpin's words. Maybe it was her aggressive side, but she thought the idea of hanging out with other warriors was a pretty good idea. They could share tips on how to best kick ass and what weapons would work best. "But what makes you think we'll accept?"

"You'll be paid for each Grimm you kill once you have certification," Ozpin offered.

"Done!" Kat agreed instantly.

"Onee-chan!" Leo cried out and then groaned. Why did money have to be his sister's weakness?

"Sorry, but he's offering to pay us for each Grimm we kill," said Kat, shrugging helplessly at her brother with an unashamed grin on her face. "You know I can't resist."

"And what about you, young man?" Ozpin asked Leo, satisfied that he had convinced the elder sister. Now all he had to do was convince the younger brother and he would consider it mission accomplished.

"Do you have a kitchen?" Leo asked. Ozpin blinked.

"Pardon?" Ozpin replied as Kat chuckled.

"My little brother here loves to cook, so he'll need a place to practice," explained Kat, "Not that he needs any practice since he's already so damn good at what he does."

"Nobody's perfect," Leo argued.

"Yeah, but you come pretty close, Otouto. I mean, remember that last innkeeper we stayed with? He didn't want us to leave because of your cooking. He wanted us to stay. He even offered up his daughter to be your wife," Kat reminded. Leo blushed. Ozpin had to hide his chuckle behind another sip of his coffee.

"So, does this mean you'll both accept?" asked Ozpin.

Kat and Leo smiled.

"You got yourself a deal, Wiz!" Kat said to Ozpin. Ozpin cocked an eyebrow at the nickname.

"My sister gives nicknames to everyone she meets," said Leo. "You remind her of the Wizard of Oz. A character in a book. It somewhat fits since Oz is in your name, you wear green, and you're the leader of an important institution."

"I...see," Ozpin remarked, sipping more coffee. "I'll have to hear that story sometime."

(LINE BREAK)

Ozpin quickly hashed out the details with the twins, telling them the important information they needed to know in order to even get to Beacon. It turned out that the majority of students arrived there by airship transport. Just seeing the large machines made Kat whistle in appreciation for them. If Beacon could afford to use such transportation regularly, the school had to be loaded something fierce.

The passenger area was comfortable with nice seats to sit in along with large windows so people could see everything below them. The flight was so stable, the passengers didn't need to sit down for turbulence or even seat belts. They could just walk anywhere they wanted which the twins had to admit was impressive. Speaking of the twins, Leo and Kat had snagged spots by the window so they could see the landscape. Both had to see the school for themselves once they heard from the pilot that they were approaching.

There was a news report displayed via holographic screen about a criminal called Roman Torchwick, followed by a report about a group called the White Fang interfering in a Fauna civil rights protest. The report was cut when the hologram of a woman appeared. She introduced herself as Glynda Goodwitch and welcomed them to Beacon.

"PFFT!" Kat snorted loudly, causing several students to look at her strangely. The elder twin buried her face in her brother's shoulder as she tried to stifle her laughter at hearing the woman's name.

"Onee-chan, shh," Leo tried to calm his sister down.

"Glynda! PFT! Good...witch!" Kat laughed, unable to control herself. "Ah ha ha! Oh I picked Wiz's name so well! Ah ha ha ha ha!""

Leo sighed but understood his sister's amusement. He then saw that they were flying over the academy. It was a massive castle-like complex which stood atop a cliff and was beautifully decorated. It held the majesty of a place where warriors were trained to fight against the forces of darkness and evil.

"Looks like there's our new home," Kat grinned. "Beacon Academy."

"Home is where the heart is, Onee-chan," said Leo. "As long as we're together, anyplace can become home."

Kat smiled in amusement and then spotted a young blonde man heaving and gagging, looking ready to puke. He was already running for one of the wastebaskets so he could heave without making a mess. Despite feeling sorry for the boy, Kat couldn't help but snigger. If he was hoping to make a good image or at least not stand out, he dismally failed. Her sniggers turned to outright laughs when she then heard two girls yell.

"Yang, ew! Gross! You got puke on your shoe!"

"Gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross!"

"Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me!"

(LINE BREAK)

Meanwhile, Glynda Goodwitch was looking over the list of applicants. She was an older woman who had blonde hair which was tied back in a bun with a curl on her right side. Her eyes had a piercing stare despite their vibrant shade of green and the small glasses she wore over them. She wore a white blouse which exposed a little bit of her chest and a black skirt which was tied by gold buttons up her front. She also had stockings On her legs and knee high boots, one of them sporting a holster. From her back she wore a torn black cape with a purple underside that was marked with a crown. Although she was an accomplished Huntress, she also worked as Ozpin's assistant and deputy headmistress. As such she had full access to all student files among other things. When she looked up Kat and Leo's names, she was surprised and concerned that she found no information on them. There were no records of them transferring from a previous school or even attending a school which Beacon recruited from. However, Headmaster Ozpin still accepted them. It was probably one of his usual eccentric decisions. If they had the natural talent then he would personally invite them to the school like that Ruby Rose child even though she was two years behind all the other first year students. Still, Glynda hated being in the dark and left without important information. She'd have to find out about these twins herself during their time at Beacon.

"Well, let's see how they do during initiation," she remarked.

(LINE BREAK)

Leo and Kat exited the airship together with their weapons. Kat carried her bow, the Suzaku, in a large carrying case which was on her back. Leo's sword, the Seiryu, was sheathed and holstered at his hip.

"You know, Otouto, I bet if we tried we could rule this school," Kat grinned.

"I thought the idea was not to draw attention to ourselves, Onee-chan," he replied.

"Otouto, once we show these kids what we can do, I doubt anyone would ignore us," grinned Kat. "Now, come on. We don't wanna be late for orientation."

Leo was about to reply when he heard a commotion from behind them. He then said to his sister, "I'll meet back with you at the main hall."

"OK, Otouto. Don't get lost," she advised. Kat went ahead as Leo turned to intervene. The white-haired girl was yelling and not letting the red-cloaked girl on the ground any room to respond. In fact, she didn't even give the girl any courtesy. She didn't even offer to help her up. The first girl was a somewhat petite girl with a pale complexion and dark hair with red streaks in it. Her eyes were also an innocent shade of silver. She wore a black blouse with long sleeves and a black skirt with red on the edges. She also wore a black corset around her abdomen with red laces. Around her waist was a belt with a rose-like emblem and small spikes inserted in the leather. Strapped to her back was a red box-like weapon which was most likely her weapon. When compared to the other students she was a little shorter, which made her look a little younger than everyone else.

The second student was a pretty girl who had of all things shock white hair tied in a stylish ponytail on the right side of the head. She had a white designer jacket that didn't have any practical use aside from style that had a bright red inside. Her dress was white with black lace that covered her cleavage. She was pretty with alabaster skin and icy blue eyes and even the scar around her left eye made her more attractive. What hurt her beauty was the angry scowl on her face.

Leo spoke up, "You know, she already apologized. I think you can let her off. Nobody got hurt."

"Nobody got hurt?" the girl snapped, rounding on Leo. "She could have destroyed my collection of Dust which did not come cheap and is not easy to get either! She could have blown us all to kingdom come too! Anyway, who do you think you are, butting into other people's business anyway?"

Leo looked to the red-cloaked girl and offered his hand to her. "Are you alright?" Ruby took his hand and he helped her up.

"I'm fine. Thanks," she replied, before pulling her hood over her head.

"Hey, don't ignore me!" the white-haired girl snapped.

"Okaa-san said this," Leo began, pointing at the sky, "Courtesy is a treasure, because it is rare. You must show courtesy to your fellow man. That is what separates us from the uncivilised."

"Huh?" the white-haired girl blinked. "Jeez, are all the people I'm going to meet be klutzes and weirdoes? Do either of you even know who I am?"

The red-cloaked girl and Leo shared blanks looks. Leo blinked, twice. The all around cluelessness of the pair didn't make the girl's temper any better, "UGH!"

"Weiss Schnee, heiress of the Schnee Dust Company, the biggest producer of Dust and energy-based exploits in the world," The three turned to see a girl approaching. She had long black hair, barely tamed by a black bow she wore on her head. Her face was cute, but noticeably neutral with golden eyes. She had a black scarf around her neck and wore a sleeveless white blouse with a black vest that sported coattails. She had black ribbons on her arms and white shorts which had dark stockings covering her legs with boots. A book was in her hand and a sword was strapped to her back, albeit one smaller that the Seiryu Leo held.

"Finally, someone who wasn't stuck under a rock," Weiss smiled smugly.

"Which has also been known for its questionable business partners and controversial labor force," the black-haired girl continued.

"How dare you!?" Weiss snapped as the red-cloaked giggled. "the nerve of you-Hmph!" Weiss turned and strode away with her nose in the air.

"You handled that well," Leo praised. "Then again, my Okaa-san did say that blunt statements can be mightier than the sharpest tongues."

"Wise woman," the dark girl nodded.

"I'm Ruby," Ruby introduced herself to Leo. "Thanks for earlier."

"Leo," Leo introduced himself.

Ruby turned to speak to the dark-haired girl but she had walked away. "Um..."

"She seems like a girl that likes to keep to herself," said Leo. "Well, Ruby-san, I must go. My sister is waiting for me." Leo left, leaving Ruby alone. She looked at his back with a blush on her face.

(LINE BREAK)

"Took you long enough," Kat said, hands to her hips. She'd been waiting for Leo in the main hall where all the new students were assembled. "I almost went looking for you."

"I had to take care of something," said Leo. He spotted Ruby and Weiss. He also saw the golden-haired girl which he and his sister had seen earlier on the airship. The blond boy who went sick on the airship was also present.

On the stage stood Professor Ozpin. He spoke into the microphone, "I'll... keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge - to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step."

After finishing his speech, he left the stage. Glynda then went up to speak next, "You will gather in the ballroom tonight. Tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed."

"Kind of a short orientation," Kat remarked. "What do you think she meant by initiation?"

"We'll probably find out tomorrow," said Leo. "Right now we need to find where the ballroom is and where we'll be sleeping."

(LINE BREAK)

Later, that night, the students were assembled in the ballroom. Sleeping bags were spread out as students were in their sleepwear. Kat and Leo's sleeping bags were in their signature colors, blue for Leo and red for Kat. Kat's sleepwear consisted of red shorts and a black tank top. Her brother's sleepwear was a blue t-shirt and blue track pants.

As they were settling in, the blonde girl with Ruby approached them. It seemed that Ruby was struggling in the older girl's grip, trying to make her let go so she could go back to her sleeping bag. The blonde was wearing black sleep shorts and an orange tank top with a deeper orange flame marking on the front. Rube had a black tank top on with a bear-shaped heart on the front and long pajama bottoms which were white with pink hearts. She was also wearing a black sleeping mask on her face.

"Say, my sister here told me you helped her out earlier," the blonde said to Leo. "I'm Yang."

"I'm Leo, and this is my twin sister," Leo introduced.

"Call me Kat," Kat introduced.

"Twins?" Ruby asked, clearly confused. "But you both look nothing alike!"

Kat, amused, giggled, "We're fraternal twins. But don't worry. We get that a lot."

"Well, thanks for helping my little sister deal with that Weiss girl," said Yang. "Ruby's such a shy little thing so as big sister it's up to me to make sure she turns into the social blossom just like me!"

"Yang!" Ruby hissed, her face flushed.

"Anything for a friend," smiled Leo. "I just hate watching needless conflict."

"Always the man of peace, huh, Otouto?" Kat teased. "But, still, I'm proud of you. First friend you make is such a cutie pie."

"Yeah, my little sis is adorable," Yang teased, hugging an embarrassed Ruby.

"It's nice to meet you both," Leo smiled. "But I think it's best we get to bed. We need to be ready for tomorrow."

Yang nodded and then dragged Ruby off somewhere. Of course, the blonde apparently saw something else that caught her attention, dragging her sister to the black-clad girl who was now reading by candlelight and wearing a short sleeping kimono. Kat chuckled and shook her head. It seemed that Yang was her kind of people, impulsive, energetic, and ready to have fun.

"They seem friendly," Kat remarked. "Ne, Otouto?"

"Yes, they're friendly..." Leo sighed. Kat frowned. He always got like this when they met new people.

"Otouto, don't get depressed on me now. Don't worry so much about the future. It's a long time before...well..."

"I just hate the idea of making friends when one day they'll just disappear," he said before lying down, his back to her. "Goodnight."

"Yeah...goodnight." Kat gave her brother a comforting hug before slipping into her own sleeping bag.

(LINE BREAK)

The following morning, the new students awoke to a brand new day. Today was initiation. After bathing, getting dressed, and a good breakfast, the new students started to get ready. In the locker room, they each grabbed their weapons and gear.

"So, I heard that students will be put in teams of four," said Kat as she took out Suzaku and strapped it to her back. "What do you think?"

"It'll mean we'll need to work with two others during our time here," said Leo, looking over Seiryu for flaws or imperfections. He knew there weren't any since he had made the blade himself but it helped soothe his nerves. He always got nervous before he underwent any kind of test.

"How about Yang and Ruby?" Kat suggested. "They seem nice."

"We'll see," said Leo.

Meanwhile, Weiss was trying to persuade famous Pyrrha Nikos to team up with her. Pyrrha was an attractive young woman with vivid green eyes and long red hair. She kept her hair tied up in a ponytail. Her attire could only be described as Amazonian, compared to Weiss' dress. Pyrrha's top consisted of two layers. The top layer was a light brown strapless top split down vertically. The bottom layer was a gold V-neck top. She also wore a red pencil skirt that ended in mid thigh with red ankle-length drapery wrapped around it. On her arms she wore brown cut off sleeves with an armguard on her left arm. On her head she wore a gold circlet headpiece. She wore elaborate golden cusses that start below mid-thigh and continue down into her boots. Her boots were brown, matching her skirt and sleeves. They were mid-calf high and had gold trim.

In the middle of their conversation, another male student approached them. He had pale skin, short, chin-length violet hair, with his bangs covering his left eye. The revealed right eye had coal black irises. He wore a black shirt and baggy pants. Over this he wore a green leather coat with a turtle-shell pattern. Strapped to his back was a long weapon resembling a halberd and sniper rifle combination.

"Hello, Ms. Schnee," the young man greeted Weiss.

"Oh, it's you, Amakusa," Weiss replied. Besides her family's company, Amakusa's family also mined Dust and distributed it. Both companies were rivals. Weiss and Amakusa were also rivals back in their old school. Of course, they were also old childhood friends despite their family's rivalry. She would never admit it out loud, but it was nice to have someone who could understand the pressures of being next in line to powerful conglomerates. It was more than just academic pressure, but also a social one since being upper class a higher standard of behaviour was expected of her. As for Amakusa, he also came from a long line of Huntsmen and Huntresses and he was expected to live up to their legacy. His line of Hunters and Huntresses could be traced back before even the time when the Grimm appeared, which was something Weiss' family couldn't claim for glory, much to their chagrin.

"Ms. Nikos," Amakusa greeted Pyrrha politely.

"Good to see you again, Amakusa," Pyrrha greeted.

"So, are you both planning to be on the same team?" Amakusa asked.

"As a matter of fact, we are!" Weiss replied.

"Actually, I was planning to let the chips fall where they may," answered Pyrrha.

"Fate, huh?" Amakusa nodded. "Then if we are fated to be partners...?"

"Then we will work together," smiled Pyrrha.

Suddenly, the blond named Jaune came to speak to Weiss. "Hello there, Snow Angel. Remember me? Jaune Arc."

"Ugh, not you again," Weiss groaned.

"Anyway, since we're going to be put into teams, I was thinking if you would like a spot on Team Jaune," Jaune invited, trying to be suave.

"Actually, I think teams will consist of four members," interjected Pyrrha.

"You don't say," Jaune smiled. Pyrrha was an attractive young lady. "Hm, hot stuff, you'll definitely fit in."

Amakusa decided to put his foot down, "Do you have any idea to whom you're speaking with?"

"I'm Pyrrha Nikos," Pyrrha introduced herself.

"Nice to meet you, Pyrrha," Jaune smiled. "I'm Jaune Arc."

"Nice to meet you, Jaune!" Pyrrha smiled.

"As I was saying, Ms. Nikos graduated at the top of her class in Sanctum," Amakusa explained. Jaune gave a blank look. "You don't know what Sanctum is, do you?"

"Never heard of it," Jaune shook his head.

Weiss added, "She's won the Mistral Region Tournaments for four years in a row! A new record!"

"The what?"

Amakusa's visible eye twitched, a look of annoyance he shared with Weiss before they exclaimed, "She's on every Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes box!" Jaune gasped.

"That's you!" Jaune pointed in obvious awe. "They only put cartoon characters or star athletes on those boxes!"

Pyrrha smiled, actually appearing more flattered that Jaune recognized her from the cereal boxes than from her other more substantial accomplishments. "Well, it is cool, but the cereal isn't really good for you."

"So, Mr. Arc, do you really think you are in any position to ask Ms. Nikos to join your team?" Amakusa questioned.

"I...guess not..." sighed Jaune, disappointed. He turned to Weiss. "What about you, Snow Angel?" Suddenly, the blade of a halberd was held threateningly to his throat.

"I suggest you leave Ms. Schnee alone, Mr. Arc. Or else you might find yourself a head shorter," Amakusa threatened. Jaune gulped.

"Okay...wow...my bad," Jaune chuckled weakly, gently pushing the halberd away. "Sorry. Didn't know she was taken. Didn't mean to poach on another guy's girl and all that. I'll just be...going." He turned but tripped before falling to the floor. Weiss, however, blushed and looked embarrassed. What Jaune was implying...it was ridiculous! She then stomped away. Amakusa gave Jaune a look of disgust before he too walked away.

Pyrrha helped Jaune up, "I'm sorry about those two."

"Well, they are dating," said Jaune. "Of course he'd be protective of his girl."

"Actually, they're not," said Pyrrha. "But anyone would think that since they spend so much time together."

"A guy doesn't put an axe to another guy's throat for talking to just a friend," Jaune gulped. Shaking his head, he sighed, "Man, this whole team thing isn't going as well as I hoped."

"Don't be so down," Pyrrha smiled encouragingly. "I think you'll be the leader of a great team."

"You really think so?" Jaune asked hopefully. Pyrrha smiled, gave him an encouraging pat on the shoulder, then walked away making him feel hopeful.

"So, lady killer, how are you doing?" Yang teased.

(LINE BREAK)

At the cliff overlooking the Emerald Forest, the new students stood on platforms bearing Beacon Academy's crest of twin axes inside a laurel wreath. Addressing them were Ozpin and Glynda.

"For years you have trained as warriors. You are no longer children. Therefore, your skills will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest," Ozpin began.

Glynda continued, "Now, I'm sure you've heard about the rumors about team assignments. Well, let us put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given your teammates...today."

Ozpin explained, "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years. After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die. You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. You will guard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?" Jaune raised his hand to ask a question but was ignored. "Good, now take your positions."

Leo and Kat got ready, the former sliding his goggles over his eyes. They struck a ready pose. One by one, the platforms sprung up, launching each of the new students into the air. Jaune was the last to be catapulted as he screamed while being sent soaring. Both Ozpin and Glynda watched them go.

"So, how many do you think will succeed this year?" Ozpin asked Glynda.

(LINE BREAK)

As Leo flew through the air, he looked down to find a suitable landing spot. As he began his descent, he summoned up a cushion of air under his feet to slow his descent. Once he was close to the ground, he went into a roll before stopping and standing up. He dusted off his clothes and looked at his surroundings.

"Alright, time to find Onee-chan," he said as he closed his eyes, concentrating on his Twin Sense. Both twins were linked and could sense when the other was in danger. His eyes snapped open before he zipped through the forest in search of his big sister.

Meanwhile, Kat had just landed. All she had to do was use her bow to catch herself on a branch, spin a few times, before vaulting off to land safely on one knee. "Meh, I've been on amusement park rides more dangerous," she dismissed. She looked around and saw trees and bushes. In the shadows she also saw glowing red eyes. "Hm, some action." She removed Suzaku from her back. "Now this is what I'm talking about!" She sounded eager.

(LINE BREAK)

Ruby landed and quickly ran through the forest. She wanted to find Yang and team up with her before someone else did and left her by herself. In the middle of her run, she briefly considered Jaune and Blake. She also listed the pros and cons. Jaune was easy to get along with, but he didn't seem all that good in a fight. Blake was okay and she loved books, but she didn't seem to be the kind of person who would enjoy talking. Then, she thought about Leo. He was the first friendly encounter she had in the school. He even came to help her while Weiss was scolding her. 'OK, who else do I know in this school? There's Yang, Jaune, Blake, Leo, and..." She skidded to a halt just as Weiss turned on the spot.

Their eyes met.

(LINE BREAK)

"OK, if I were Onee-chan, I would probably be in the middle of a fight," said Leo as he looked for his sister. Suddenly, an arrow made out of ice flew past his face and struck a tree. "Found her." He entered deeper into the forest to see his sister surrounded by Beowolves. Dead Beowolves. They were sprawled around her, with numerous ice arrows stuck in them. Some were even pinned to the trees.

Kat finally noticed her brother and grinned, "Hey! You found me!"

"All I had to do was follow the trail of carnage," said Leo. "It wasn't hard." He looked at the Beowolves. "I guess you didn't need me after all."

"Of course I need you," Kat grinned. "Now, come on! We got a temple to find, Otouto!"

"Hai, Onee-chan."

"What the heck happened here!?"

The scream made Leo and Kat blink and turn to the source. Emerging into the clearing where the Beowolves were staying was Weiss who was gaping as she saw the dead Gimm all over the clearing. With her was Ruby who seemed just as shocked as her partner at seeing so many defeated Grimm.

"Red Hood, Snow White! Sorry, but you kinda missed the party!" Kat grinned.

"You both did this?" Ruby questioned, impressed. She took a closer look at a Beowolf pinned to a tree.

"I just got here," said Leo. "This is all Onee-chan's work."

"When it comes to archery, nobody can beat me and Suzaku," boasted Kat. Weiss studied one of the ice arrows. The ice was pristine, clear as glass and sharpened to a razor tip. Even her own use of Ice Dust didn't make such a perfect example of the element. If she didn't know any better, she would have sworn that Kat had used pre-made icicles as arrows. Ice generated by Dust had a blue glow around it which was how experts could tell ice was formed by Dust and by what quality. Fire made by Dust was unusually bright red compared to natural fire and Dust Lightning was golden yellow instead of a flash of light like the natural variety. She couldn't believe someone could make such perfectly formed ice in a combat situation.

Well, she wasn't going to let some no-name tomboy or her weirdo brother get the better of her!

"Anyway, me and my little brother are gonna go on ahead and finish this initiation test," Kat said with a grin. "Come on, Otouto!"

"Right behind you, Onee-chan!" Leo called back before the twins dashed out of the clearing.

"Wow, if she could do this, I wonder how strong Leo is," Ruby wondered out loud.

"Ruby, hurry up!" Weiss called.

"Coming! Coming!"

(LINE BREAK)

Meanwhile, in another area of the forest, an Ursa fell dead after receiving several bullet holes in the face.

"Hm, my first kill of the day," remarked the Ursa's slayer. He was a young teen like the rest of the new students and dressed in a black jumpsuit with a white chestplate, along with matching gloves and boots. He had tanned skin, silver hair and what appeared to be whisker-like birthmarks on each cheek. His eyes were ocean blue. He also wore ammo clip belts diagonally across his chest. In his hand was a submachine gun with an attached blade folded back. His personal symbol was on his right shoulder, a Diamond containing a tiger's face.

An Ursa stalking behind him, ready to pounce, stood up but then had its entire head blown off. The silver-haired young man turned and saw that it was Amakusa, holding his sniper rifle. This caused the silver-haired young man to frown. He was hoping for a beautiful girl, not a guy.

"Looks like we're partners," said Amakusa. "And you are...?"

"Andrew Takada. Friends call me Andy," Andy introduced himself.

"Amakusa," Amakusa introduced himself. "William Amakusa. Just call me Amakusa, Mr. Takada." He put his weapon on his back. "Now, let's go. I don't want Ms. Schnee and whoever she has partnered with to reach that temple first."

"Right, gotcha," Andy saluted before he and Amakusa went to find the temple.

(LINE BREAK)

Glynda was monitoring the students. "It looks like everyone has found a partner."

"Excellent," Ozpin smiled.

"Lie Ren and Nora Valkyrie," Glynda frowned, "I can't see them ever getting along. Well, at least he's better off than Ms. Nikos. I don't care what his transcripts say, Mr. Arc isn't ready for this level of combat. Ms. Hasuma on the other hand seem to be able to take care of herself. I have yet to see her brother in action, though."

"I have," Ozpin smiled. "Alone, they're powerful, but together they are unstoppable. It's why I recruited them."

(LINE BREAK)

Leo and Kat both stopped when they heard what sounded like a girl screaming in peril.

"Onee-chan, some girl's in trouble!" Leo cried out.

"Otouto, remember that everyone who came here is a trained warrior," Kat reminded.

"But-!"

"We're too far away anyway. By the time we reach her, it would probably be too late," Kat said. Leo frowned. She knew her brother didn't like abandoning someone who was in danger, but judging by the scream's loudness and distance, neither of them would be able to make it in time.

"Come on, just push it into the back of your mind and move on," Kat advised.

"Hai, Onee-chan. Like always," he muttered. He then followed his sister, forcing himself to ignore someone who was dying...it was a horrible feeling, but like always they needed to move on. For so very long all they did was move forward...never looking back.

(LINE BREAK)

Amakusa and Andy were able to find the temple without difficulty. It seemed that Amakusa had caught a glimpse of it while they were in the air earlier. Once they found their objective, Andy smiled when he saw Yang and Blake.

Although he had joined Beacon to become a professional Hunter, he enrolled in the school to hit on the girls. Huntresses-in-training always trained and worked out, which meant they kept their bodies toned. Thus, by that logic, all the girls in beacon would have to be very attractive ladies.

"Hello, ladies," Andy grinned. "How are you doing?" Imagine him sounding like Joey Tribbiani from Friends. Amakusa rolled his eyes and approached the pedestals. Each of them had a different chess piece standing on them. A couple had gone missing, meaning others had gotten here first.

"Hey, did you guys happen to hear a girl screaming just now?" asked Yang. Blake tapped on her shoulder. "What?" Blake pointed up. "Huh?"

"HEADS UP!" Ruby screamed as she started to plummet, only for Jaune to fly out of nowhere and knock her to the side before they both crashed into a tree.

"Did it just rain girls?" Andy asked.

"A girl," Amakusa corrected.

"Did your sister just fall out of the sky?" Blake asked Yang.

"I..." Yang hesitated.

And then they saw an Ursa run into the clearing before dropping dead. Hopping off of its back was a girl. She had rusty orange hair which was short and blue eyes that had a childish sparkle in them. She wore a white blouse with a heart-shaped hole near her collar and long white gloves over her arms and fingerless gloves. She also wore a collared vest which looked like it had armoured sections on it. She also wore a pink skirt that ended at her thighs and pinks sneakers, making her look especially girly. One would have called her that were it not for the silver and pink grenade launcher on her back.

"Aw...it's broken," she frowned.

"Nora..." panted a dark-haired Chinese boy in green who had been holding on for dear life. He wore a black and green easter shirt with gold accents. He also had black bracers under those sleeves, possibly indicating that his weapons were hidden around his clothes. He also wore what pants and black shoes, but didn't wear any armor which hinted at the fact that he was a speed fighter rather than a power one. "Let's not do that again." He then saw his partner had vanished. "Nora!"

Nora was at a pedestal holding a white Rook and smiled. She put it on her head and sang, "I'm Queen of the Castle! I'm Queen of the Castle!"

"NORA!"

"Oops! Coming, Ren!" Nora went to her friend.

"Did that girl just ride in on an Ursa?" Blake asked.

"Um..." Yang wasn't sure what to say.

"She can give me a ride anytime," Andy grinned. Amakusa rolled his eyes. They then heard some trees collapse as Pyrrha came running with a large scorpion Grimm known as a Deathstalker on her tail.

"Pyrrha!" Jaune, still hanging from a tree yelled.

"Whoa!" Ruby jumped off the branch.

"Ruby!"

Yang exclaimed, "Ruby?"

"Yang!" Ruby went to hug her sister when Nora popped up.

"Nora!"

"Did she come running in with a Deathstalker on her tail?" Blake asked.

"AH!" Yang screamed, "CAN EVERYONE JUST COOL IT FOR TWO SECONDS BEFORE SOMETHING ELSE CRAZY HAPPENS!?"

Leo and Kat came in and Kat greeted, "Yo, what's up?" Blake pointed up and they all looked to see a Nevermore flying by with Weiss holding on the talon.

"WEISS!" Amakusa screamed, losing his composure.

"How could you leave me!" Weiss yelled.

"I said jump," said Ruby. She was grabbed by Amakusa and shaken.

"You did that!?" he pointed up at the Nevemore. "She'll fall!"

Ruby dismissed his worry, "She'll be fine."

"She's falling," said Ren.

"WHAT!?" Amakusa screamed and let go of Ruby. "WEISS!" He grabbed hold of his weapon and took aim at the ground. The blast propelled him skyward and he caught Weiss in his arms. Weiss gasped and looked into his visible eye. "I got you!"

"But who's got you?" she asked. Amakusa blinked and saw that they were high up. They then dropped, screaming. Leo conjured an air-cushion to catch both Amakusa and Weiss. Both teens let out sighs of relief.

"You...you stupid girl!" Amakusa yelled at Weiss. "Do you have any idea how much you scared me!?" He then realized he was letting his emotions get the better of him and released Weiss. "I'm...I'm relieved that you're alright, Ms. Schnee. I wouldn't want my rival to be hurt before I proved..." He trailed off as he averted his eyes.

Pyrrha then fell in front of the group. The Deathstalker was still there and it looked hungry.

"Great, the gang's all here," remarked Yang, "Now we can die together."

"Not if I can help it," said Ruby as she brought out Crescent Rose. She aimed her scythe-gun and fired at the Deathstalker.[1]

"Is she insane!?" Kat shouted.

"Ruby!" Yang yelled.

Ruby was knocked aside by the Deathstalker's claw. She groaned and got back up, "I'm OK!" The Deathstalker was behind her. She then ran for her life. The crow Grimm, the Nevermore, spotted her and saw prey. The Nevermore then flapped its wings and threw a storm of feathers like arrows. Ruby's cloak was pinned by a feather.

"Ruby, get out of there!" Yang shouted.

"I'm trying!" Ruby yelled as she tugged on her cloak.

Leo started to draw his sword when Weiss dashed past him. Ruby saw the Deathstalker's claw coming down at her and shut her eyes. When death did not come, she wondered what the monster was waiting for.

"You're childish, impulsive, hyperactive and dimwitted..." Weiss lectured. Ruby opened her eyes to stare at her savior who had used Ice Dust to freeze the Deathstalker.

"And I know that I can be...difficult..." said Weiss as she helped Ruby up, "But if we're going to do this, we're going to have to do it together."

"I'm not trying to show off," said Ruby. "I just want you to know I can do this."

"You're fine," Weiss said. "Now, come on." Ruby nodded as she joined Weiss to meet back up with the others. Yang hugged her sister, happy that she was safe. Ruby was always happy to get hugs from her sister, but she could do without the lung-crushing affection!

"OK, as much as I enjoy warm family reunions, what are we going to do about Big Bird and Scorpion?" Kat asked.

"Look, I think our objective is pretty clear," Amakusa pointed at the chess pieces.

"Our mission is to grab an artifact and get back to Beacon," said Weiss.

"They're right," Ruby agreed. "There's no point in fighting these things."

"Run and live," Jaune smiled. "That is a plan I can get behind."

"Then let's finish our initiation," encouraged Leo. He went to a pedestal and grabbed a Black Knight piece. Amakusa did the same. Yang and Weiss each picked up a White Knight piece. Jaune picked up the other White Rook and smiled at Pyrrha.

"OK, let's move," said Ruby. She went on ahead and the others followed. Yang hung back and Blake wondered why she was smiling.

"What is it?" Blake asked.

"It's nothing," said Yang. "Come on."

(LINE BREAK)

Returning to Beacon was going to be easier said than done. The Nevermore was circling around and the Deathstalker had gotten loose. With two giant Grimm, the likelihood of leaving without a fight was less probable. The took cover behind pillars.

"Well, that's great," Yang frowned. "Now what?"

Amakusa analyzed the Grimm. The Nevermore had speed, agility, and aerial superiority. The Deathstalker had a rock hard carapace, claws that could shatter stone, and a stinger which was filled with a potent venom which would kill them instantly if the wound didn't kill them first. Judging from the cracks and grass growth in its carapace, the monster was one of the old ones too which meant it likely was stronger than the average Deathstalker too. Just their luck.

"We gotta run!" Jaune yelled as the Deathstalker was coming for them. The Nevermore spotted them too. It spread its wings and swooped in.

"Nora, distract it!" Ren shouted.

Nora grinned and took out her weapon of choice, a grenade launcher. She fired at the Nevermore and it shrieked as it was being pelted by grenades. The Deathstlker came behind her but was stunned by Leo, Blake and Ren before Weiss picked Nora up and jumped away. The group ran for the bridge with the Deathstalker on their tail.

"Go! Go!" Pyrrha shouted as she hung back to buy them some time. Kat joined her and fired flame arrows at the Deathstalker as Pyrrha fired with her rifle. Ren also gave the two girls assistance with his twin guns. However, they weren't even hurting it, so they withdrew to rejoin the others. Fortunately, for them, the bridge was too narrow for the Deathstalker to run across. However, the Nevermore was closing in on them. It then smashed through the bridge, separating the group.

"This...can't get any worse..." Kat groaned. She, her brother, Amakusa, Andy, Pyrrha and Ren were facing the Deathstalker.

The Deathstalker shrieked and prepared to go on the attack, but then it suddenly stopped. The group of students blinked in confusion before the Deathstalker let out another screech, but of a deeper tone. It confused the group for a moment, all of them glancing at one another in confusion. It took a moment, but then Pyrrha gasped and began shooting at the Deathstalker at a faster rate, "It's calling for help! Make it stop shouting!"

"Calling for help?!" Amakusa cried out. "I think it has the situation in hand already!"

"Ah, what's the worst it could call?" asked Andy. "All that lives here are some Beowolves, Ursas, and some big snakes. Nothing worse than that would be out here and we can take-!"

"OOOOOWAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

One of the temple buildings behind the Deathstalker promptly exploded in dirt and debris as a black hulking form burst out from the catacombs. It easily matched the Deathstalker's size, if not a little bit bigger. It was shaped like a gorilla, but with oversized fists which had white bone ridges coming out of the knuckles. It was hunched over slightly, sporting a bone ridge down its back. It's face was monkey-like with the usual Grimm skullcap with a skull-like nose, red markings, and red eyes. The beast growled and spied the students before pounding its chest loudly with another bellow.

"Holy shit! That is a BIG monkey!" Andy yelled at the sight of the new Grimm.

"A Silverback," Blake frowned, tensing. "Be careful. They are some of the most intelligent of the Grimm!"

"You and your big mouth," Kat grumbled at Andy

"I concur," Amakusa nodded.

Suddenly, they heard a yell and saw Jaune drop in with Nora, the latter bashing a war hammer down upon the Deathstalker's head. It then tried to strike her and she used her weapon's recoil to avoid the strike, accidentally bumping into Blake and knocking her off. Blake fell but used a ribbon to grab hold of a pillar. She then swung herself at the Nevermore and slashed it with her sword before running down its back to land several more slashes and then land near Ruby, Weiss and Yang.

"Otouto, help me with the gorilla!" Kat ordered as she charged at the Silverback.

"Hai!" Leo drew Seiryu and joined his sister, leaving the Deathstalker to the others. Amakusa narrowed his eyes and drew his weapon.

Kat fired arrows at the Silverback while Leo slashed with his sword. He then started calling on the power of wind and was ready to unleash it when an explosion knocked the Silverback backwards. The twins turned to see Amakusa with his smoking sniper rifle.

"The others can handle the other two Grimm," Amakusa said. "By the way, my name is Amakusa."

"Amakusa?" the twins repeated. The Silverback roared but then its mouth was filled by bullets and it howled back in pain.

"Eat dirt you banana-loving freak!" Andy shouted as he fired with his gun. "Yeah, eat it! Eat my red hot bullets!"

"Mr. Takada, calm yourself. You're wasting ammo," said Amakusa.

"Takada?" the twins repeated again. What were the odds?

"Now, shoot to kill, Galapagos!" Amakusa commanded as he fired another round from his sniper rifle.

"Don't fail me now, El Tigre!" Andy said as he continued to fire on the Silverback.

Kat shook her head and turned to her brother. Leo nodded and the two attacked with their new partners. Kat started firing ice and flame arrows in succession while Leo unleashed lightning bolts. Fed up, the Silverback roared and brought its fist down, causing a shockwave that knocked the four young warriors down.

"Dammit!" Andy grimaced before pointing El Tigre at the Grimm while on the ground, peppering the monster with a number of rounds and distracting it from trying to kill the others.

"Okay, I admit it. This one's tougher than the ones we usually take on," Kat grunted, standing up.

"That would make it more fun for you, wouldn't it Onee-chan?" asked Leo.

"You got that right," said Kat. "Now, time to get close and personal." She broke her bow apart and now wielded both swords in hand. "Back me up!"

"Hai!" Leo conjured a blast of air that propelled his sister into the air. She slashed the Silverback across the face with both swords then slid down its back before slashing it in the rear. The beast shrieked and swung wide, forcing Kat to duck underneath the blow. The Silverback attempted to turn so to keep her in sight, but Leo leaped into the Grimm's face and unleashed a Raijin attack. The Silverback screeched in pain and began thrashing wildly, trying to get both of the twins. That was when it received another explosive sniper round in the face courtesy of Amakusa while Andy slipped around the beast and began shooting at its face and abdomen.

Kat, meanwhile, began to concentrate and wrapped herself in a spiral of fire. Leo, on the other hand, had electricity arching around his body. They launched into the air then performed their attacks. Kat performed a flaming corkscrew kick into the Silverback's throat while Leo slammed into its chest with an electrified flying kick.

The force of the two blows sent the Silverback sprawling backwards, crashing into the Deathstalker from behind whose own stinger was now embedded in its own head thanks to Jaune, Nora, Ren, and Pyrrha. Three of the four students were in the air while Ren was stumbling towards the fight from the ruins. The Silverback hit the Deathstalker just as the bridge collapsed under their combined weight and the abuse of Nora's destructive weapon. Both Grimm were sent falling into the misty valley below, vanishing into the white fog with screeches of pain and fury.

Jaune and Nora collapsed on the ground from bad landings, Pyrrha being the only one who landed gracefully while Ren just stumbled towards them before collapsing in exhaustion.

"Whew!" Kat grinned. "That's what I call a workout."

"Look," Leo pointed and Kat saw Yang on a tower, flinging blasts from her gauntlet guns at the Nevermore. She then performed a crazy move and jumped into its beak, blasting it down its throat before leaping off to land on the bridge. The Nevermore crashed into the cliffside. Weiss then took over, running past Yang before freezing the Nevermore's tail feathers to the ground. Meanwhile, Blake was on a pillar as she threw her weapon to Yang, a black ribbon stretching between them. Ruby then leapt up and landed on the ribbon, pulling it taut with her weight as Weiss kept it taut with magic.

Suddenly, Ruby was launched like a missile and kept herself in the air with repeated shots from her scythe. She then hooked the scythe blade into the Nevermore's neck and landed feet first on the cliffside. Weiss conjured magic footholds for Ruby and the scythe-wielding girl ran, climbing up the cliffside, dragging the Nevermore along with immense strength. At the top of the cliff, she decapitated the Nevermore before landing on the cliff.

Kat, Leo, Amakusa and Andy witnessed as the Nevermore's decapitated body fell into the misty valley, in awe.

"Man, she might be petite but she's badass!" Kat cheered.

"Impressive," agreed Leo.

"I can't wait to get her number," Andy grinned. Amakusa just shrugged. It was an OK display in his opinion.

(LINE BREAK)

Back in Beacon's main hall, the teams were put together. First was Team CRDL (Cardinal), then there was Team JNPR (Juniper) which was made up of Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren. After them was Team RWBY (Ruby), which consisted of Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang.

Ozpin concluded, "Finally, Kat Hasuma, Leo Narukawa, Andrew Takada and William Amakusa. The four of you returned with the Black Knight pieces. From this day forth you will work together as Team KLAW, led by Kat Hasuma."

"I'll follow you anywhere, hot stuff," Andy said to Kat. Amakusa said nothing. Leo smiled at his sister and she smiled back.

"It looks like this is going to be an interesting year," said Ozpin.

(LINE BREAK)

To celebrate the success of the initiation, the students had a feast for dinner. Kat was at a long table with her new Team KLAW, Team JNPR, Team RWBY and Team CRDL. Her brother, however, was noticeably absent. The table was laden with so much food like one would see on a buffet table.

"Where's your brother?" Yang asked. Kat knew, oh she knew when she picked up her food. "I thought he'd want to come out and celebrate with us."

"Oh, he's celebrating," Kat grinned. "Taste the food and you'll know where he is."

"Huh?" Yang blinked. "What do you-?"

"SO GOOD!"

Yang looked to the outcry to see her sister and Weiss going at their food in a manner only described as 'pigging out'. Even Blake wasn't immune as she struggled to control herself as she scooped up as much food to eat as politeness allowed. Jaune and Nora weren't holding back either while Pyrrha was scooping up and managing to look uncouth rather than a barbarian. Ren had used his speed to eat all his without anyone noticing and was already going for seconds. The boys of CRDL were just going at the food like a bunch of barbarians.

"Ms. Schnee, control yourself," chided Amakusa.

"I can't help it! *munch* *munch*" Weiss whimpered around a mouthful of food. "My diet is so ruined but I just have to have more!" she then saw Ruby going for another plate of food. "Hey! Don't hog it all!"

"It goes to the girl with the fastest hands and that's me!" Ruby snapped, ready to defend her share of food.

"Ms. Schnee, remember your manners! You're a lady!" Amakusa scolded, snapping Weiss out of her fury by reminding her of her position.

"Sorry!" Weiss apologized, embarrassed by her horrid table manners.. "I know..." She wiped her mouth with a napkin, composing herself. It was a semi-useless gesture since she looked ready to go for the delicious meal once again.

Leo came to the table and sat down between Kat and Yang. "Hello, everyone. Sorry I'm late. I was needed in the kitchen," he told them.

"The kitchen?" Yang asked.

"Who do you think prepared all this?" Kat questioned. Everyone turned to look at Leo in surprise. "That's right, ladies and gents! My brother here is the Iron Chef!"

Yang took a bite of food and her eyes widened. So many flavors exploded in her mouth. It was like she had arrived at the Gates of Heaven! She was tasting Paradise! She had to keep it at all costs! She then grabbed hold of Leo's hands and shouted, "MARRY ME!"

Leo blanched while Kat sniggered behind her hand. He replied, "U-um, aren't you a little young to consider that?"

"If you won't marry her, you can marry me," Blake offered with a flavour-induced tremble in her voice.

"Congratulations, Otouto," praised Kat, patting her brother's shoulder. "You have girls falling for you because of your cooking skills, again."

"You mean this has happened before?" asked Andy in awe. He took one look at Leo before diving to the cook's feet, bowing subserviently, "Teach me, O Wise One! Teach me the ways of the cooking player!"

"EH!?" Leo exclaimed.

Amakusa was barely in control himself. He had tasted high class gourmet cuisine, but Leo's food was like nothing he had ever tasted. A 5 Star rating would not do him justice. "Forget being a Huntsman...come work for my family as a private chef!"

"Hold on! The Schnee Family should have the best!" argued Weiss.

"No, let me take him home!" Nora chimed in. If she was serious or not was hard to say. Only Ren could be sure but he was too busy eating his second share to offer his opinion in the matter.

Pyrrha looked to Kat who just smirked. "Are you enjoying this?"

"A little," said Kat, her big grin showing her true thoughts.

Jaune was thinking, 'So, the way to a girl's heart is through her stomach, huh? Jeez, why didn't Dad tell me that? I can do that! It sounds way easier than that whole confidence thing!'

Ozpin and Glynda were at the staff's own dining table, eating. Ozpin smiled as he took a bite. "Impressive."

"Indeed," said Glynda, surprised by the taste. "And you said he made all this?"

"Part of the deal I made with him was giving him access to the kitchen so he could cook dinner," said Ozpin. "Now I can see why. This isn't the work of a simple hobbyist. This is the work of a man who is passionate about cooking."

"Mmm," Glynda hummed appreciatively as she took another bite. "A wise decision, sir."

As the members of Team RWBY, JNPR and KLAW argued over Leo, Kat was looking forward to the future. She wondered what other adventures they would have in Beacon.

THE END

KAMEN RIDER CHROME: OK, so I became a fan of RWBY and decided to do my own version of the first eight episodes. Kat, Leo, Andy and Amakusa belong to me. Now, you might wonder where I got them from, especially Kat and Leo. Let's just say the answer is in one of my fics. Just look for the clues there. As you can see, the twins kick butt and there seems to be chemistry between the characters. Also, Leo seems to be making a good start for himself as his cooking has won the heart of a few Huntresses. He's gonna be beating them back with a stick if their attraction becomes violent. Anyway, I hope you have fun reading this as much as I had writing this. Also, as usual, I had Ten-Faced Paladin helping me.
