Chapter Foreword

KRC: OK, so this is the first chapter of the new reboot project for Showa & Vampire. We're gonna follow the storyline and take some liberties with it so we can add in our characters and tell the story from their perspective. Anyway, going from the beginning and this time you will see Shinichi develop from a negative mentality to become someone worthy of the title...Kamen Rider.

He stood alone in the middle of the desert. The only one alive.

They were dead. They were all dead. They had come for him, wanting to bring him back, but he refused.

He killed them all.

He had no choice. He had to do it. He had to kill them. He had to kill them all.

So tired...so very, very tired...

No more...no more...no more...

RV: Rider Chronicles

Chapter 1: "Mysterious Person"

XXX

Headmaster Mikogami was a busy man. While he was dressed as a priest in white robes, with a hood up that shadowed half his face, he was still the Headmaster of Youkai Academy. This school, believe it or not, was a school for monsters, and its purpose was to teach them how to coexist with humans. At the moment, he was looking over some paperwork when all of a sudden a top hat popped into existence on his desk. Mikogami couldn't help but wear a smile of amusement as the top hat seemingly started to dance in front of him before flying off the desktop to hover in the air. Then, a figure dropped out of the top hat to stand in front of the Headmaster.

He was a seemingly ordinary individual, but looks could be deceiving. His clothes consisted of a white shirt with vertical red pinstripes, a black and yellow polka dot bowtie, with black pants that had white pinstripes on them. Over this all he wore a green, double-breasted overcoat. His face, well, he had a face that expressed mischief judging by his ear-to-ear grin and had short blond hair that was spiked slightly at the base of his skull. He also had a long, sharp nose and narrowed eyes which twinkled with amusement. He then plucked the top hat out of the air and put it on his head.

He wasn't alone, though. With him was a young man who hung his head. He was dressed in a completely black yet odd looking outfit. The outfit resembled a motorcycle riding suit with shoulder pads, the left one marked with XIII. He also wore matching gloves and boots. Around his left wrist was a bracelet. The suit seemed to be dirty, as if it hadn't been washed in a while. The Headmaster could see some dried blood stains and also dirt and grease. The young boy's hair was indigo and parted in the middle with two strands that stuck out the top like a pair of insect antennae.

"Bonjour, Headmaster!" the man in the top hat greeted as he tipped his hat.

"Mr. Topper Liquer," the Headmaster greeted back. "What brings you back here to our dimension?"

"Oh, you know. You know. Deals to make and all that. Business as usual," Topper replied, still wearing that huge grin of his.

"And your young companion?" the Headmaster asked.

"Another client searching for a second chance," Topper answered. He then added, "He does look a bit dirty, doesn't he?" With a snap of his fingers, the stains on the boy's clothes vanished. "Now, much better. It's too bad I can't wash away the stains in his soul. Well, I could but I'd need his permission for that."

The Headmaster stood up and strode over to the young man who didn't seem to register their presence. He gently cupped the boy's chin and lifted up his face. The boy seemed oddly feminine but what the Headmaster noticed were his eyes. They were indigo, like his hair, but his eyes showed someone who had just looked into the abyss of despair. There was no light or hope there. Just emptiness, as if his soul had been torn to shreds.

"What happened to him?" the Headmaster asked.

"I can't share my client's confidential information, but let's just say that he had suffered for an entire decade and had been forced to do horrible things. Finally, it became too much and he broke," Topper described. The Headmaster would need to know more but he could conclude that the boy's life had been filled with nothing but pain.

"Then why bring him here to my school?" the Headmaster asked Topper.

"Your school's objective is to teach your students how to adapt in the human world and coexist with humanity, correct?" Topper asked rhetorically. "I think that your school can help him. He hasn't had a normal life and doesn't know much about living with people peacefully. So, I thought he could learn how to be human here."

The Headmaster looked at the boy and asked him, "What is your name?"

The boy answered, his voice in monotone, "...Lucifer." The Headmaster shook his head. Obviously, the boy didn't like that name very much; as if he didn't care for it, judging by his tone.

"If he's to be enrolled, he'll need documents," the Headmaster said.

"Got that covered," Topper grinned, tapping the side of his nose. "I even thought up a new name for him."

"Oh?"

"Shinichi Sanban."

"Any reason for that?" the Headmaster asked.

"Oh, that's a secret," Topper answered cryptically. "But if he's gonna learn to be human, he needs a human name. That was the first one that popped up."

The Headmaster looked at Topper and thought about the claim suspiciously. He then shrugged. Well, it wasn't a bad name to be honest. At least it was better than calling the kid after the infamous fallen angel.

"So, if the boy is your client, what did he want?" the Headmaster asked. "And what did you take as payment?"

"Oh, I'll collect the payment when the time comes. As for what he wanted..." Topper started only to be interrupted.

"No more..." the boy whispered. "No more..."

"That is what he wanted."

"No more?" the Headmaster looked quizzically. "No more what?"

"No more of his old life. He just wants a fresh start," said Topper. "I offered to take his memories as payment but he refused. I know he doesn't want to remember but he claims he needs to remember so it doesn't happen again."

The Headmaster looked at the boy in sympathy. One day he would know what had happened. He wasn't sure if the boy would tell him and Topper definitely wouldn't reveal anything.

"I'll get him a dorm room," the Headmaster said. The boy looked exhausted, mentally, emotionally and physically. He looked so tired and needed a place to rest. "I'll also have him signed up for counseling sessions."

"When does the new term start?" Topper asked.

"In two months," the Headmaster answered. "Enough time to heal the boy or at least have him healed enough so he can function properly."

"Then I will leave that to you. Au revoir," said Topper before he vanished in the blink of an eye.

Mikogami looked at the boy now named Shinichi. The boy had no Youki so he wasn't a monster but he wasn't human either despite the way he smelled. Well, he could already tell the upcoming school year would be interesting, bringing in new and exciting things.

2 Months Later...April 7th

It was morning when Shinichi woke up and climbed out of bed. He slept on the top bunk of a bunk bed. It was at his own insistence since he liked sleeping high off the ground. He didn't have a roommate, though, but the Headmaster had approved of it since it was one of the few comforts he was allowed to have.

It was the beginning of the new school year and Shinichi's first day of school. Not wanting to be late, he immediately got himself ready. He took a shower, got dressed and made himself breakfast. As he ate, he looked at the tie and blazer which were draped over the back of his chair. He had worn the shirt and slacks but he wasn't gonna put on the tie and blazer. He had something else in mind.

Finishing his breakfast, Shinichi went to his closet to grab some accessories. His dorm room was pretty Spartan in appearance. There were no decorations like posters or anything. The walls were bare, save for a calendar and nothing else. There was a bookshelf for his books, a desk with a laptop on it, a swivel chair, a bunk bed and closet, but nothing else. There was a hat rack though with several different hats hanging from it, but that was as far as decorations went. It was clean at least but it didn't have the same feeling as a home.

Shinichi put on a denim jacket with a hem that reached his midsection. He buttoned up his collar and started to tie the scarf in a way someone would put on a tie. He then grabbed a hat from a hatrack, a newsboy cap, and put it on his head. He then tapped on his bracelet. It was a habit he had developed. It gave him a sense of security. He checked his pockets and made sure he had his student ID. According to the ID, his name was Shinichi Sanban. That was a new name for a new start. He then mentally checked his schedule. He did have a counseling session with Ms. Morrigan Aensland in the afternoon but otherwise his day was free. He then had to remember his classroom assignment.

"OK, looks like I'm set," he said. He then stepped out the door to head for school.

XXX

Shinichi had been living in the dorm for two months and had familiarized himself with the surrounding area. That was how he could find his way around and knew which path to take to the school. The path cut through a forest with creepy looking trees that had no leaves and with tombstones scattered about. To the average person, the atmosphere would be spooky and unnerving. However, Shinichi was in no way, shape or form, average. He had simply gotten used to this place.

As he walked to school, he wondered about any future plans. His talks with Counselor Aensland often involved any dreams he had for the future. The future was something he often found himself thinking about. At least, the future couldn't be worse than his past. He then shook his head to clear up any thought he may have about his past. That was all behind him. He was looking for a fresh start, away from all the dreadfulness and misery. Some may call it running away but to him it was freedom.

No more...that was what he wanted. He wanted no more to do with all that misery and dreadfulness.

As Shinichi continued to walk, he heard the sound of a bicycle. He also heard a girl shout, "WATCH OUT!" Not one to freeze in surprise, Shinichi sidestepped out of the bike's path. It sped past him and the rider lost control before she crashed into a tree, falling off her bike and landing on the ground.

Shinichi blinked and then went over to see if she was alright. It was the courteous thing to do.

"Hey, are you OK?" he asked as he squatted down. "You're not hurt, are you?"

"No, I'm fine," the girl answered, looking up at him with the most beautiful green eyes he had ever seen. The girl had fair skin and long, bubblegum pink hair. She was also wearing the standard uniform for girls, indicating that she was a student. She also wore black shoes with matching socks. She didn't wear the bow tie for girls but she did have a black choker with a silver cross hanging from a chain on it. Religious, perhaps? Well, considering the nature of this school, there might be a reason for it. He then checked the bike and saw what the problem was.

"It looks like the chain came off while you were riding down the path. It's pretty steep. No wonder you lost control," he observed.

"Excuse me, but are you a student here too?" she asked curiously. He wasn't in the uniform blazer or wearing the tie so she was curious.

"I am," he answered simply as he fixed the bike's chain back into place. "OK, that should do it." He dusted off his hands and helped her up to her feet. "You might want to be more careful next time," he advised. He was about to move but her grip on his hand hadn't loosened. "Um...miss?" She gazed at him. "Is everything OK?"

"Your smell..." she said as she sniffed him. "You smell..." She then did something that surprised him as she gripped his shoulders and leaned in. His heart beat rose when her lips came close to his before she moved to his neck and...Capu-chu~!

"Ah!" Shinichi cried in surprise as he felt a pair of canines sink into the flesh of his neck. He could assume he heard her sucking and then she stopped.

"Ah, that's so delicious!" she exclaimed in joy.

"What the hell did you do?" Shinichi demanded, a hand on the spot she had bitten. The girl gasped.

"Oh, I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" she apologized frantically. "I didn't mean to do that! It's just I'm a vampire!" Shinichi blinked in response.

"Well...that explains it," he replied. "But you could've asked if you wanted my blood." Not that he would've given it. Not exactly a normal request.

"I'm sorry. It's just that you smell so good. It's like the scent of human blood," she answered and that was when Shinichi's eyes widened slightly and he turned away from her, pulling his hat down to hide his eyes. She seemed oblivious to this. "I'm Moka Akashiya. What's your name?"

"Shinichi Sanban," he told her, still not turning to face her. "Come on. We better head to school before we're late."

"Ah right!" Moka realized as she grabbed her bike and wheeled it alongside her.

XXX

In class, Shinichi was sitting at his desk which was by the window. The orientation had gone smoothly enough. Just a speech to welcome the new students before letting them go to their assigned classrooms. Shinichi found his pretty easily and looked around at all the students. There was a lot of green and he was the only one in a denim jacket.

During the orientation speech, he couldn't concentrate or pay attention. His thoughts had been on the girl's words. What was her name again? Moka Akashiya. Yes, Moka had told him that he smelled just like human blood.

'And I thought I've washed it all away,' he thought grimly. Then again, she claimed to be a vampire, so her nose would pick up traces of it. 'I guess there's no way to get rid of it all, huh?'

Shinichi returned his attention towards his homeroom teacher. She was a very pretty woman with short strawberry blonde hair, a spaghetti strap top and a short skirt. She sported a pair of cute glasses on her face and parts of her hair looked like cat ears. What really got his attention was the tail that was swinging behind her.

'Bakeneko,' Shinichi guessed.

"Welcome to Youkai Academy!" she greeted cheerfully, bringing equal cheers from the students in the classroom. "I'll be your homeroom teacher, Shizuka Nekonome!" Shinichi didn't cheer alongside his classmates. Really, he saw no reason to. This was just a school like any other. There was no need to make such a huge deal. However, he couldn't help but crack a small smile. His homeroom teacher was friendly enough and, even if his classmates were monsters disguised as humans, he felt that he could at least get along with them and fit in. After all, he was pretty much a monster in his own way.

"Now, as I'm sure you're all aware, humans pretty much outnumber us," Nekonome-sensei continued, drawing a pointer. "So, like it or not, humans run the mortal world. We monsters have to learn to coexist with them. That is the mission of this school. We are here to teach you how coexist peacefully with the humans. Which brings us to rule number one: always remain in human form. You must never expose your true self to anyone. Doing so will bring about strict disciplinary action."

A simple rule if anything but also easy to break. A monster in human form could only access a fraction of their abilities. However, some of them may not like to have their power weakened or inaccesible while in disguise so they might be tempted to show off their true forms to tell everyone where they stood on the hierarchy. Shinichi wasn't interested in drawing any attention to himself and continued to listen.

"But sensei," another kid growled with a grin. He had long brown hair that reached his neck and some piercings on his face. "Can't we just eat the humans? I could start with the cute girls." Shinichi scowled as he glanced at the student who looked like a delinquent. He could guess that this one was one of the flesh eaters. Oddly enough, he wasn't all that afraid, just downright disgusted.

Shinichi heard whispers from his classmates and learnt that the student's name was Saizou Komiya. He had apparently been sent to Youkai Academy because he was causing trouble in the human world. It came to the point that his family feared a reaction from Hunters. Shinichi had no doubt in his mind that the the trouble Saizou had gotten himself into involved eating humans like he claimed he would do. Of course, Saizou was talking about eating humans and there were no humans here.

As Nekonome-sensei struggled with her words in a way to reprimand the student for his bloodthirsty words, the door slid open as a sweet voice spoke apologetically, "I'm sorry! I got lost in the halls after the welcoming ceremony…and…sorry I'm late!"

"Ara, that's alright," Nekonome-sensei smiled at the student. "Just take whatever empty seat you find."

Shinichi looked to see who had come in late and his eyes widened in recognition. He should've recognized that voice. It was the super cute vampire that he'd met this morning! Moka Akashiya! Suddenly all the boys stood up from their seats, save for Shinichi, gaping as they saw the beautiful Moka trying to find her seat.

"So kawaii..."

"That hair..."

"I want to embrace her!"

"No way that's a disguise," one of the boys drooled. "She's just too…"

"BEAUTIFUL!" the collected boys roared.

Shinichi could swear that he saw the boys drooling lustfully as they ogled Moka. OK, Shinichi noticed that she was beautiful too but there was no reason to act like horny teenagers. They were behaving like they had never seen a girl before. Then Shinichi heard Moka gasp.

"Ah, Shinichi-kun! I didn't know you were in this classroom too!" She walked over to him and smiled at him. Well, so much for not drawing attention to himself. The boys in the class now directed their gazes towards Shinichi and glared at him in envy.

"Huh? Who is that guy?"

"That little bastard!"

"I'll kill him!"

"She's mine!"

"I saw her first!"

Shinichi rolled his eyes as he heard the threats. Honestly, they really should get ahold of themselves. They were like animals claiming a piece of meat. Moka continued to smile at him and he returned the smile before she took the empty seat next to his. Nekonome-sensei continued her lecture before she asked each of the students to introduce themselves.

XXX

As it was the first day of school so regular classes didn't begin until the next day. Therefore, after their homeroom class, they were allowed to roam freely and explore Youkai Academy. Students were already starting to make friends and getting together into groups. Moka wanted to explore Youkai Academy and asked Shinichi to come with her. Seeing no way to decline without hurting her feelings, he went along with her. This resulted in more dagger sharp glares of envy aimed at his back but he ignored them. They weren't worth his time.

"Wow!" Moka gasped as she took in one of the main hallways of the school. "This place is so clean! Neat!" Shinichi only replied with a nod. While the school's exterior had an eerie appearance, the interior was surprisingly clean. The janitors must be doing their jobs right if it was this clean.

As the two freshmen were walking through the hallway, Shinichi noticed that the students around them stopping to stare at them. Well, stare at Moka that is. He also noticed that Moka's beauty didn't just attract male attention. Wherever they went, jaws dropped at the sight of the pretty vampire, not that she seemed to notice. Moka herself just thought that she was plain and uninteresting.

"Wow, what a cutie!"

"What a babe!"

"She must be mine!"

Then they started talking about him and not in a very flattering manner.

"Oi! Who does that guy think he is getting so close to her?"

"Who cares? If he gets in my way, he's dinner!"

Shinichi rolled his eyes as he heard all the whispers around them. His hearing was very sharp it seemed. He decided that it was best not to cause any problems just because Moka had apparently befriended him.

He let out a sigh of annoyance. So much for peace and quiet.

"Is something wrong, Shinichi-kun?" Moka asked when she heard him sigh.

"Oh, it's nothing," Shinichi answered with a smile. "It just seems like you're becoming very popular around here."

"Oh," Moka blushed as she looked down in embarrassment. "I'm not that pretty."

"Well, many of the boys here would disagree with you on that." This made her blush harder.

Shinichi and Moka soon stopped at a vending machine for some drinks. Shinichi got himself an orange soda while Moka got herself a can of tomato juice. She told him that, aside from blood, she loved tomato juice. It was a pretty good substitute.

"So, how do you like Youkai Academy so far?" Moka asked.

"Looks pretty colorful, I guess," Shinichi answered with a shrug.

"Oh, that's nice."

"Aside from the scenery, and some of the students here, this looks like a decent place to study." Ignore the fact that all staff and students were monsters in disguise and at least Saizou wanted to eat humans, Youkai Academy didn't seem too bad. Granted, Shinichi didn't have much experience to make a comparison but, as a school, Youkai Academy seemed like an OK place. At least it was hidden within the Monster World so no humans could enter due to the powerful barrier that surrounded it. "How about we look around some more?"

"Okay!"

After finishing their drinks, they went throw away their cans into the recycle bin when a taller student came around the corner and leaned on the wall behind Moka. It was Saizou Komiya.

"Hey, babe," Saizou said as he leaned against the wall with his arms crossed and leering at Moka. "Moka Akashiya, right? Man, looks like I'm not the only one who thinks you're cute."

"Thank you," Moka nodded. "Um…Saizou Komiya-san, right?"

"Yup, got that right cutie. I'm one of your classmates."

"Oh…um," Moka nodded. "Good to meet you…I suppose."

"I'm sure. By the way," Saizou grinned before he reached out and suddenly grabbed Shinichi by his collar. Moka gasped in shock while Shinichi was being lifted up and pinned against the wall by the other teen. "Why is a girl like you hanging out with a complete wimp like this?" Saizou turned his gaze towards Shinichi, expecting to see a look of terror. What he got instead was Shinichi glaring right back at him. "Hey, what's that look for!?" Suddenly, Saizou felt his body go stiff and rigid.

Shinichi had his thumb pressed against Saizou's forehead, right between the eyes. The delinquent's eyes widened as his body froze, enabling Shinichi to pry his hand off his collar. He still hadn't removed his thumb from Saizou's forehead, though.

"Now, I think we should talk," said Shinichi firmly, his eyes narrowed. It was more of an order than a request and his tone turned almost ice cold.

"Why can't I move?" Saizou demanded, unable to move.

"I know pressure points and right now I have my thumb pressed against a point on your body that paralyses you. Depending on which way I twist my thumb, I can either make you vomit uncontrollably for an entire hour or give you violent diarrhea." Shinichi paused his explanation FOR a moment. "I always get those two mixed up, though."

"You're bluffing!" Saizou spat.

"Maybe I am, or maybe I'm not. The question here is are you gonna risk it? Now, you got two choices right now: I could let you go and run or I can twist my thumb in either direction. Your choice." Shinichi was in complete control and Saizou knew this. Everyone in the hallway watched in anticipation to see how this confrontation would end.

"Sweet dreams," whispered Shinichi as he applied more pressure, sending a jolt through the bully's nerves. Saizou dropped to the floor, unconscious. The students were speechless at what they had just witnessed. Saizou, who was trying to cement a reputation as a badass delinquent, had just been beaten with a single thumb.

Shinichi fixed his collar and his hat before turning to address Moka, "Come on."

"What about Komiya-san?" Moka asked but Shinichi offered no answered as he started walking off. She immediately went after him.

XXX

Shinichi and Moka both arrived on the school's rooftop for some fresh air.

"So what did you do?" Moka asked again, hoping to get an answer from him.

"To Komiya?" he asked and she nodded. "Just a little trick I learnt from a long time ago."

"Was it true that you could make him do all those things with a twist of your thumb?" she questioned.

"I know the nervous system," he claimed. "Besides, I didn't feel like fighting but I still wanted him to get the point. Hopefully, he'll leave us alone and he'll forever be teased for what happened." It wouldn't win Shinichi any friends though, but he didn't mind. Sides, Saizou wouldn't be doing any bullying after such a humiliating display.

"So you weren't bluffing."

"No, I wasn't. Anyway, he'll probably be in the need of a new pair of pants or something. I might've accidentally twisted my thumb a bit." Moka's face twisted in disgust at the mention of Saizou defecating in his own pants. Shinichi just looked amused. There was an awkward silence between them that lasted for a few moments until Moka chose to speak again.

"Shinichi-kun, what kind of monster are you?" she asked.

He cocked an eyebrow at the question, "Isn't it against the rules to reveal what species you are?" Moka gasped.

"Oh, I forgot! But since I told you I was a vampire already, I thought it'd be OK," Moka replied. She had the decency to blush a bit due to her fumble.

"Well, to be honest, I really have a hard time believing you're a vampire," he remarked. She had bitten his neck and drank his blood but otherwise Moka didn't seem like the scary vampires he had read about. Vampires were supposed to be arrogant due to their superiority. Moka didn't display that sort of arrogance. Rather, she was shy and friendly.

"Oh, that's because of this seal," Moka said, pointing at the cross hanging from her choker. "If it gets taken off, I turn into a really scary vampire," she claimed dramatically with her hands raised like claws. Shinichi couldn't believe she could be scary. Her attempt to look scary made her look oddly cute.

"How much scarier can you get?" Shinichi asked, skeptical of her claim. Then again, all the students wore human disguises so maybe they were secretly dangerous. They were monsters after all.

"It's true!" she insisted, puffing her cheeks.

"Fine, I believe you. Hopefully, your seal doesn't come off.". He looked out at Youkai Academy. "It looks so peaceful here." Spooky, yeah, but it also appeared peaceful. However, how long would that peace last? If Saizou was any indication of how monsters behaved then he should expect some trouble in the upcoming future.

"Yes, that is why I wanted to come to school here," she replied in agreement. "I used to go to school in the human world."

"You did?" he asked. He hadn't expected to hear that. "What was it like?"

Moka frowned sadly, "Lonely. I think humans are the worst. All through elementary school and middle school everyone ignored me. They made fun of me and told me monsters and stuff didn't exist. Eventually I thought it would be better if I really didn't exist. I just hate humans!"

"Yeah, I can agree with that," he admitted. "Humans...they can be the absolute worst..."

"I didn't have a single friend but now that I'm here I'm glad that I made friends with you," Moka smiled brilliantly and Shinichi blushed. This girl who had been hurt by humans still wished for friends. She could still smile like that and act so gentle and innocent.

She deserved way better than him.

"Moka, I appreciate that you want to be my friend. However, I don't think it's a good idea," he told her. She looked at him, stunned. Was he refusing her friendship?

"Is it because I'm a vampire?" she asked, confused and a little hurt. "I'm sorry for biting you and drinking your blood earlier! I couldn't help myself!"

"No, it's because I'm a dangerous person to be around," he told her honestly. "You asked me what kind of monster I am. I can honestly say I'm the worst to ever exist. You're a nice girl and anyone would be lucky to be your friend. As for me, I'm dangerous. People who get close to me, they have the bad luck of getting hurt. I'm sorry." He then went towards the exit.

"Shinichi-kun, wait!" she called but he ignored her and continued to walk away. "Shinichi-kun..." Moka just stood on the roof. She didn't go after him. Instead she just cried on the rooftop. Her first friend and he had just rejected her.

XXX

Shinichi exited the school grounds to return to the dorms. As regular classes wouldn't start until the next day, students were free to explore or just go back to their dorms after homeroom. Shinichi just wanted to lie down in bed and stop thinking about Moka and what he had done to her. Yes, he had pretty much hurt her feelings but she would be OK. She was going to make friends. She just didn't need him for a friend.

He heard chirping coming from his bracelet and looked down at it. On the bracelet was a metal cicada and its eyes flashed with each chirp.

Shinichi spoke, "Look, I did the right thing. She's better off without me."

The metal cicada responded in more chirps.

"I'm not afraid of making friends. I just don't think I'd be a very good friend for her. I'm too dangerous to get close to anyway."

The metal cicada chirped furiously again.

"Look, I don't want to talk about this. Call me a jerk or whatever but just leave me alone." The metal cicada took the hint and detached from the bracelet before flying off. Shinichi watched it go and sighed, "...Great."

The metal cicada had been his only real companion and he had just driven it away. What was he supposed to do now. "He'll be back," Shinichi convinced himself as he continued the long walk towards the dorm room. He couldn't get the image of Moka's heartbroken face out of his mind but he needed to forget her. He just wasn't worth befriending.

XXX

It was awhile before Moka left the rooftop and decided to go back to the dorm. Her tears had dried since but her heart just felt broken. She thought she had made a friend but then he rejected her friendship. Was this it? Was she going to be friendless and alone just like back in the human world? Maybe biting him after just meeting him had given him a bad impression of her. She really didn't mean it. Her instincts just took over when she caught his scent. The scent of human blood.

Moka then blinked. Wait a minute. Why did he smell like human blood? He wasn't bleeding. It was more like the scent had soaked into his skin from some outside source. Could there be something he wasn't telling her? Something that he didn't like talking about? They had only just met and of course he would have his own secrets. Perhaps something had happened to him in the past that made him think he didn't need friends.

"I'm a dangerous person to be around."

"You asked me what kind of monster I am. I can honestly say I'm the worst to ever exist."

"People who get close to me, they have the bad luck of getting hurt. I'm sorry."

Remembering his words made her wonder about him. Was he afraid that she would get hurt or that he would hurt her if they became friends?

She needed to find him then and talk to him. She needed to know what he really thought about her as a friend. She couldn't just give up now. He had exited earlier and was probably on his way to the dorm. Maybe she could catch up to him along the way.

"Hey, babe. You alone?"

Hearing the voice, she turned to the trees at her right and looked to see that it was Saizou, apparently having recovered from what Shinichi had done to him.

"Komiya-san?" she asked and she didn't like the way he was looking at her. It was like he was undressing her with his eyes.

"So, where's your little boyfriend?" he asked. She didn't reply but he knew the answer. "Not here, I see. That's good." He strode towards her and she backed away and bumped into a tree. "He won't bother us as we have our fun."

XXX

Shinichi was just about to reach the dorms when a sudden shriek shattered the silence and Shinichi recognized that voice. "Was that Moka?" Only someone in danger would scream like that. He looked ahead and then he made his decision and turned back to find Moka. Moka sounded like she was in trouble and while he had told her that he couldn't be her friend that didn't mean he was going to ignore someone who needed his help. He heard the buzzing and chirps of his metal cicada as it flew alongside him before reattaching to the bracelet.

Moka's blazer was gone and her shirt had been torn open to reveal her pink bra. Saizou stood over her with a huge, lecherous grin and a lustful gaze directed at her.

"Girls like you get my blood pumping, you know that? When that happens, I can't control myself!" He roared as he transformed. His body bulged and became incredibly muscular. He had also grown a couple of feet in height. His shoes were torn to shreds as were his shirt and blazer. He only had his pants on, thankfully. Saizou's skin had darkened to a dark grey, nearly black color and he had blood red tribal markings covering his arms and chest. His fingernails had turn into claws and his ears had lengthened with pointed tips. His teeth had also grown sharp with his eyes becoming yellow and feral-like. His hair had also become wilder. As for his teeth, they had become sharper and definitely strong enough to tear flesh off bone.

He was an orc and an ugly one at that.

He pinned Moka down and his tongue hung out before licking her cheek. "Oh, baby. You taste nice too."

"Komiya-san...please..." she pleaded.

"Yeah, bitch. Beg for it," he growled as he stroked her thigh. "Your skin's so soft." He started groping her with the other hand while reaching up her skirt. She trembled as he continued to lick and fondle her against her will. Tears welled up in her eyes as she wanted Saizou to stop.

"HEY ASSHOLE!"

Saizou suddenly received the head of a war hammer straight in the face. The impact knocked several teeth loose and broke his nose before sending him flying. Moka gasped, eyes wide, and then turned to see who was wielding the hammer.

"Shinichi-kun?" Moka asked her friend who turned to her. But then she saw that his eyes were glowing slightly red before the glow faded and he turned to address her.

"Are you OK?" he asked as he extended his hand to her. She took it and he pulled her up to her feet. He saw that Saizou had torn Moka's shirt open and scowled. He swore he would kill the guy. Moka noticed and blushed before pulling her shirt together to preserve her modesty, embarrassed. She then saw his weapon.

"I didn't know you carried weapons," Moka remarked. The war hammer was, to be honest, of an odd design. It was made of black steel with a long shaft. The head of the hammer was shaped like a metal brick and seemed to be glowing with some kind of energy.

"Lots of things you don't know about me," he said as he took off his hat and placed it on her head, letting his twin ahoge spring up. "You should head back to the dorms and lock your door. I've got something to take care of," Shinichi instructed as he dragged the war hammer behind him and went to find Saizou. The orc had crashed through several trees when Shinichi had sent him airborne. So, all he had to do was follow the path. "

Saizou had hit the side of a cliff after Shinichi had violently ejected him from the forest. He growled as he held his broken nose, "Damn him." Shinichi had gotten in the way again by hitting him with a giant hammer.

"Damn him!" he cursed again. Shinichi had humiliated him once already. The display from earlier had ruined his reputation. He then looked ahead and saw Shinichi step out of the forest, dragging that hammer with him.

Shinichi studied Saizou's monster form. 2 months ago, the first thing he asked for after he got his room was books. Books were his way of passing the time and one of those books was an encyclopedia of many of the monster races. He had read the book, cover to cover, and memorized his contents. While it only provided basic facts, it did provide Shinichi with enough information to know exactly what he was looking at.

"OK, so you're an orc. According to the encyclopedia your strength level is within the upper B-Class range. Of course what's stopping you from getting A-Class status is probably because your race doesn't have much in terms of intelligence. Basically, all brawn and not much in brains." stated Shinichi bluntly.

"I'LL KILL YOU!" Saizou roared as he lunged at Shinichi. Shinichi didn't seem intimidated or startled by the sudden attack. Instead, he raised his hammer and brought it down to smash Saizou to the ground. The impact caused the ground to crack and Shinichi withdrew his war hammer before staring down at Saizou in what could only be described as contempt.

"And stay down!" Shinichi ordered. He turned away to return to the forest but stopped as he spotted Moka standing there. He scowled as he approached her, banishing his weapon. "Didn't I tell you to go back to the dorm?" Why did she have such trouble with following simple instructions?

"Why did you come to save me?" Moka asked. "I thought you didn't want to be my friend."

A look of guilt appeared on Shinichi's face as he answered, "No, I meant that I'm not someone you'd want to be friends with."

"But I do want to be friends," she insisted. "And you didn't tell me why you saved me."

"I saved you because...I can't ignore someone who needs help," he confessed, looking a bit embarrassed about admitting that bit of himself. He really wasn't good at sharing personal things about himself with people he had just met. Moka smiled at the answer. So, he saved her because he cared. "Come on, we better get back to the dorms."

"What about Komiya-san?" Moka asked, pointing to Saizou's prone body.

"What about him?" Shinichi retorted uncaringly. Curious, he asked, "Anyway, why didn't you just change into your super scary vampire form?" According to the encyclopedia, vampires were S-Class beings. Surely she could've fought Saizou off if she had transformed.

"It's because of this seal," she said, pointing at her cross. Shinichi glanced but turned away blushing since he could see her cleavage and bra-clad chest. "I can't remove it."

"You can't remove it?" he asked incredulously. "Sounds like a design flaw."

"I know it does but that's just how the seal works," she told him. That meant she would be helpless against stronger monsters. Shinichi grimaced. While he would prefer to be on his own, not watching anyone's back, he couldn't in his good nature allow Moka to remain unprotected. This was a school for monsters, which meant the students could become dangerous and turn on each other. Saizou was just a horny bastard and had tried to rape Moka. What if there were others like him in this school?

Moka's expression turned into that of horror. "Behind you!" Shinichi's eyes widened and he turned in time to see Saizou coming at him. He had recovered from a blow which should've knocked him out cold.

Saizou's brutal backhand actually sent Shinichi flying into the ocean and Moka watched in horror as Shinichi's body hit the water with a splash before he started to sink into the watery depths, "No, Shinichi-kun!"

"Now, Moka..." growled Saizou, his voice sounding distorted as a deranged look was on his face. He licked his lips in anticipation as he stared down at the delicious morsel standing before him. "How about we pick up from where we left off?"

Meanwhile, Shinichi was sinking and he grunted while thinking, 'Damn...that hurt...' He could admit that Saizou had hit him pretty hard. Now he was going to drown. However, Shinichi didn't care about what would happen to him. Moka was alone with that brute. Who knows what Saizou would do to her? Then again, Shinichi knew that Saizou intended to make Moka into his woman, by force if he needed to. It was the way those who were strong and irresponsible thought, that because they were strong they were entitled to anything they wanted.

'Not if I can help it,' Shinichi thought as his eyes began to glow red.

Saizou was holding Moka down in an attempt to have his way with her. Moka struggled and resisted but he was just too strong. Suddenly, the sound of a huge splash drew Saizou and Moka's attention towards the water. The splash was tall and at its peak something could be seen hanging in the air. It was a humanoid figure and it was coming down. Saizou stared stupidly as the figure was coming right for him before kicking him right in the face. The orc was sent tumbling off Moka before the figure landed on its feet.

Moka's eyes widened at the figure. He appeared humanoid in shape but was covered from head to toe in what appeared to be a brown organic exoskeleton like the kind that insects had covering their bodies. His fingertips were sharp and he also had sharp toes. His carapace looked like it had the shape of underdeveloped wings. His head and face were very insect looking with large, red compound eyes and a pair of short antennae. The area where the mouth should be was covered with a segmented plate and bisected down the middle by a proboscis. Around his waist was a metal belt with the buckle resembling a pair of closed doors.

She had seen this figure leap out of the ocean and so she asked, "Shinichi-kun...?" He responded with a nod, confirming it was him. So, this was Shinichi's monster form. He was just an insect Youkai. Why did he claim to be dangerous?

Saizou got back to his feet and Shinichi looked at him. "I'M GOING TO SQUASH YOU LIKE A BUG!" Saizou roared as he charged at Shinichi. Shinichi charged right back, crossing the distance. Saizou then received a punch to his gut as Shinichi buried his fist into the orc's stomach. He then followed up with several more, rapid-fire punches into Saizou's gut before following up with an uppercut that knocked loose Saizou's teeth. Saizou howled and punched Shinichi hard in the chest. The insectoid Kaijin went skidding back and was now next to Moka. Moka gasped and Shinichi looked at her before he realized that his clawed hand must've caught onto her silver cross. It had been removed.

"You... removed my... seal...?" Moka managed to say before her eyes began to dull. The atmosphere suddenly turned dark and thick as black swarming bats flew out of nowhere and merged with Moka's form. When all the bats merged with her, there was a massive shockwave of youki, causing the boys to shield themselves before it all died down. Her hair began to turn silver. She grew a few inches until she stood nearly his height. Her already ample chest swelled until it it became very noticeable, more than it already was. Her nails sharpened, making her hands look more mature and giving them the appearance that they could cut through almost anything. Then, she gave a sharp hiss. When she hissed her already sharp canines had lengthened to even deadlier fangs. Then she opened her eyes. As they focused, Shinichi could see that they had turned crimson with black cat-like slits.

This was Moka Akashiya, a vampire, an S-Class supernatural being.

"Moka...?" Shinichi asked, his voice sounding distorted as he was in insectoid form. She glared at him and he gulped. Guess she was angry at him about something. She then turned her red-eyed gaze towards Saizou. Saizou stared at her and involuntarily took a step back. Shinichi knew this reaction. As an S-Class being, vampires were usually at the top of the food chain and her aura could be sensed. Saizou was facing off against an Alpha predator.

"So, you wanted to have fun with me, right?" silver-haired Moka challenged. "Well, why don't you come at me?" Saizou didn't like that tone as anger overtook common sense. He then roared and charged at Moka. She grinned as he came within range before she raised her leg and kicked him straight in the chin, sending him stumbling back in pain. She then rushed at him and executed a series of kicks. Shinichi saw Moka's legs blur as she kicked Saizou repeatedly in the gut. Saizou collapsed to his knees and held his stomach before vomiting. Some of it splashed onto her shoes and Moka growled.

"KNOW YOUR PLACE!" Moka kicked Saizou hard in the side of his face and he went flying before crashing violently into the cliff side. Shinichi watched this happen and almost couldn't believe it. He scanned Saizou to see that he was alive. Perhaps Moka was holding back.

Moka then turned her attention towards the insectoid Kaijin and walked towards him. Shinichi just stared as she came in close and reached over before snatching the cross from his hand. She studied him a bit and remarked, "So, this is your true form. You're an insect Youkai."

"Kaijin," he corrected. She frowned at him.

"Alright, 'Kaijin'. You know, you really made the other me upset."

"Other you?" Shinichi repeated.

"Yes, and you really made her cry. Because of you, she was put in danger," Inner Moka reprimanded. "However, you're surprisingly competent in a fight and you managed to remove the seal. So, as a way to make it up to her, you should stick around and look after her." She reattached the seal to her choker. "I'll be watching." Moka then changed back into her normal, pink-haired self and collapsed but Shinichi caught her before gently laying her down to the ground. His body shimmered as he knelt down with Moka's head resting in his lap. He wondered what he had gotten himself into.

Moka awoke, moments later with her head resting on Shinichi's lap as his jacket was draped over her front. She blushed and got up, unwittingly hitting Shinichi's chin with her head.

"Ow!" he exclaimed as he rubbed his chin.

"Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry!" she apologized.

"Well, no harm done," he said. He saw his cap lying a distance away and then turned to Moka. "Are you OK?"

"I'm fine," she nodded.

"Good, because I think we need to get back to the dorms," he said as he helped her up. She buttoned the jacket up to cover herself appropriately. As they went, he picked up his cap and dusted it off. Chirps could be heard from Shinichi's bracelet and he spoke to it, "Fine, I was being a jerk. Happy?"

"Who are you speaking to?"

Shinichi pointed to his bracelet, "This little guy." The metal cicada detached and flew over to Moka to study her. "He's called the the Cicada Drone." Cicada Drone was spoken in English, not Japanese.

"Cicada Drone?" Moka blinked. "You mean you didn't even give him a name."

"He's not a pet," Shinichi retorted.

"Well, I think he deserves a name since you didn't call him an 'it'," she countered. "How about 'Chika-chan'?"

"Chika-chan?" Shinichi's eyebrows rose and the newly dubbed Chika-chan chirped happily. "Seriously?"

"What did he say?" Moka asked as Chika-chan rested on her shoulder.

"He says he likes the name," Shinichi translated. Chika-chan chirped again, causing Shinichi's cheeks to tint slightly. "I'm not telling her that."

"What did he say?" Moka asked.

"It's not important," he replied and Chika-chan chirped in disapproval. "I'm not saying it." More angry chirps. "Fine..." he sighed. "Chika-chan thinks you're pretty and your hair smells like strawberries." He looked back at Chika-chan, "How can you even smell her? You're a robot." Chika-chan chirped. "Artificial olfactory sensors? Seriously?" Moka giggled. "What's so funny?"

"You both are," she smiled vibrantly. He frowned a bit at that. He was a lot of things but funny was not one of them.

"OK, we're here," said Shinichi as they entered the dormitories' area. One building was the boys' dorm while the one across it was the girls' dorm. "You OK heading up on your own?" he asked.

"Yes," Moka smiled. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Shinichi replied and he turned to walk away.

"You look better without the cap, though. It's just my opinion, but you look nicer without it." Shinichi gently touched his cap and shrugged before taking it off, letting his twin ahoge spring free from their confines. They wiggled and Moka giggled in response. They looked so cute and she was tempted to touch them. However, she had already invaded his personal space once by biting him and they were just starting out to be friends.

"See you tomorrow," Shinichi said before he walked back to his own dorm. Moka smiled gently as he went and then looked down at herself. He hadn't even asked for his jacket back.

Later, Shinichi was back at the main school building. He was standing in front of a door with a nameplate that read 'School Counselor' and underneath it was 'Morrigan Aensland'.

He knocked on the door and he heard a voice from the other side answer, "Come in." He opened the door and saw who the school counselor was. She was extremely hot and sexy. It seemed that Youkai, when assuming human forms, would try to go for the most physically attractive and Aensland-sensei was definitely attractive. The woman had a perfectly proportioned hourglass figure clad within a purple business suit and a matching short miniskirt. Her emerald green hair was bound in a bun and she wore stylish glasses, giving her a sexy librarian look. She sat in a leather swivel armchair with her long and slender legs crossed.

Shinichi had been seeing her for counseling for two months and today was another scheduled session. He took a seat across from her and greeted, "Hello again, Aensland-sensei."

"Nice to see you again, Shinichi," she replied with a genuine smile. "So, how was your first day of school?"

"I made a friend today," he answered.

Moka: "Shinichi-kun is my only friend which is why he is precious to me. Why does this girl want to steal him away? Who are these monsters and what do they want with Shinichi-kun? Next time: 'Charmer'."

Chapter Afterwords

KRC: Well, that took some time but I finally finished the new pilot chapter for the SV Reboot. Now, you may have noticed that I allowed Shinichi to keep his memories. Also, he has been having counseling sessions to help him emotionally and mentally cope. As you can see earlier, the memories of his past restrain him a bit and he's not very good at making friends. He likes to keep to himself. Moka, however, came into his life quite unexpectedly. The two of them are lonely people and they were somehow drawn to each other. Of course their loneliness is different. Moka feels lonely because people treated her like an outcast while Shinichi is a loner by choice but still can be friendly. He just doesn't think he deserves friends even if wants them deep down.

In addition, you may have noticed an alteration in Saizou's orc form. That was an idea by GuyverGenesis who suggested we could use Tolkien's design for orcs. I saw nothing wrong with it and I managed to make Saizou even more menacing. He managed to recover from a few devastating blows but it still took Moka to knock him out. It took her some effort though. I mean, a single blow just seems overpowered even if that was the original intention.

A few new things in this reboot, including Shinichi's transformation. He looks like a Kaijin. Well, that's because he is. I guess you can say I was influenced by Shin Kamen Rider and also Kamen Rider Black since Kotaro emerged as a Grasshopper Kaijin called Batta-Man before he changed into Kamen Rider Black. Also, it's similar to Kamen Rider Gaia from the manga Kamen Rider Eve: Gaia. I just thought that he could start off with this transformation and he'll evolve later to have Rider armor. Also, the Cicada Drone. Yes, it was a Cicadroid in the original but I changed it. Also, Moka names it Chika-chan since Cicada Drone is pronounced in English rather than in Japanese. She got the name from that.

KRG: Hello. Well I have to say that while the old SV got cancelled, I want for us to have good luck with this reboot and for it to go well.
