I woke up the next morning with my head pounding, my entire body was covered in sweat, and my hair was matted onto my head with sweat. Flashes of the vision I had while I was unconscious came full front. I knew then I need to block out my mind, as it continued to reel over what I had just seen.
I was almost at a loss for words as I showered and mindlessly pulled on the white button up shirt, and gray skirt of uniform.
Before pulling on my socks, and adjusted my tie. I left my hair in loose curls , while I braided the front right section of my hair, and pinned it to the back of my head; then proceeded to put a bit of eyeliner and rose-colored lip balm on. Before finally pulling on my cloak, and putting on the choker that I had worn the night prior.
I walked into the Great Hall quietly with my bag on my shoulder, and sat down next to Bellatrix quietly. She turned towards me, a bright smile on her face. "What's wrong, Sophie? You look like death warmed over." She commented, as she chewed through a piece of crispy bacon happily.
"I had a long night last night." I lied, feeling exhaustion begin to wain on me, despite the calming shower I took this morning, as I began eating some pancakes and hash browns; trying to ignore her amusement.
"Oh, Merlin's beard, what happened to her?" Dromeda asked, as she sat down next to Cissy, looking over at me warily.
"Nothing, I am just tired since I didn't get much sleep last night." I replied, keeping my head down.
I heard a gasp from somewhere in the table next to us, causing me to look up. Tom and the guys were sitting there with the mouths popped open, food hanging from their mouth as they looked directly at me.
"Cissy, do I have anything I shouldn't on my face?" I asked her in a whisper, inconspicuously wiping the side of my lips with my sleeve.
"Nope, you just look rather lovely this morning... and though you seem to be tired." She replied and continued to eat her breakfast.
"Hmm," I said, continuing to eat my breakfast as practically everyone around the table gawked at me.
"Good to know. At least we know that not everybody has the sense to look away after being caught gawking." I muttered afterwards, scowling down at the table. Bellatrix snorting and almost spurting pumpkin juice all over the table.
"Come on, Sophie, let's go to class. We have Slughorn for first hour this morning. Wonderful, isn't it?" She said amused, pulling me from the table along with my bag, after we finished eating.
I heard astonished whispers as Bellatrix dragged me through the practically empty corridors, towards the Potions hall. We were at least fifteen minutes too early and Cissy was still in the Great Hall. I was lost in thought when suddenly a pair of hands began shaking me by the shoulders.
"Anna! Hey, I'm talking to you, for Merlin's sake. Damn it. Pay attention, woman! Before I bonk you on the head." Bella bellowed, as she continued to shakeme.
"Bonk me you say?" I replied, a smirk forming on my now lips, as my lifted my hand, and began to flick my wrist in her direction.
Just as I was about to flick my wrist, a firm hand clamped over it, and I felt as Iwas turned towards the culprit.
There stood Tom, with an amused expression on his face. I scowled at him yanking my wrist out of his hand harshly, leaving a slight sting on my skin.
"Did you need something, Riddle?" I sneered, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Nothing at all. Just trying to prevent you from getting into trouble. Especially at such an early hour in the morning." He whispered, as he leaned down to pull my chin up towards him.
"How thoughtful of you." I sneered, rolling my eyes at him.
"Don't roll your eyes at me, Anna. You know what happened the last time you did that." He said, smirking at me.
I could see in his thought as he put his hand in mine and weaved his fingers through mine. I raised an eyebrow at him, trying not to laugh at the memory as it played out in both of our minds.
"You might want to save snoggingeach other's facesfor when classes aren't in session." Keith Smith, a Ravenclaw sneered at us walking by.
"You might want to watch where you are going there, Keith-y." I cooed, smirking at his retreating form.
Keith rolled his eyes at meand proceeded to walk away before I flicked my wrist and watched asthedoor swung open knocking him onto his behind.Professor Slughorn walking out of the supply closet with his arms around two boxes, a moment later.
"Mr. Smith, it would be better to wait to get into the class before you sit down, the floor here is very filthy in this particular corridor. Ah, Tom m'boy, Annamarie my dear, glorious morning we're having today." He greeted, smiling, as he took in the position Tom was holding me.
"Well, come on in. Time's a wastin'. Get a move on." He called, as he disappeared into the back closet hidden in the back room of the class.
I walked inwith Bellatrix, leaving Tom behind me, probably doing something he wasn't supposed to by the way he was smirking at me as I walked in.
I was about to sit down when I felt someone behind me. I turned to see who it was to be met with Tom's gaze.
"Did you need something, Riddle?" I asked, sitting down anyway.
"May I have a word with you, Riel?" He asked, as he gestured towards the left side of the room.
I grabbed my things and proceeded to follow him, watching as he sat down on the desk in the middle aisle of the classroom. I sat down on the empty seat next to him; as soon as I sat down in the chair the weird feeling in my stomach came back and my head began to feel fuzzy. I grabbed onto Tom's cool hand, to steady myself, as I watched the vision play out before me.
Vision:
I watched as Professor Slughorn scurried out of the little supply closet. His eyes full of excitement and his hands clasped together in front of him.
"Good morning students. Wonderful day we're having, wouldn't you say?" He asked, to nobody in particularly in the room.
"Now today I would like to ask you one question. Does anybody know what Amortentia is?" He asked.
"It's the most powerful love potion in existence so far. Has to be administered continuously otherwise the effects will wear off." Tom said, in a bored tone after nobody else volunteered to answer.
"It is also known that if a child is conceived under the influences of the potion, it won't have the ability to feel emotions." I answered.
"Great job, fifty points to Slytherin." Slughorn said delighted.
I gasped, feeling myself snap back into time, just as Slughorn made his way towards the front of the class holding a vile with swirls in it. Tom's hand pulled my hand under the table, grasping it. I couldn't help thinking of the other night and what happened after we brewed the same potion. Feeling my body begin to heat up and blood pool in my cheeks as I remembered the searing kiss that we shared and how his hands felt on my heated skin as he wrapped my leg around his waist. I felt Tom begin to tense in the seat next to mine as he watched the memories with me, I smirked at him in response.
'That's what you get for invading my privacy.' I thought towards him, as he tightened his hand around mine, scowling at me.
'I didn't do it on purpose, I thought you were about to pass out again. You look pale by the way.' He thought in response.
I pursed my lips in response, ignoring his jab. 'I do not you, bloody git.' I thought back.
"Good morning class. Settle down now. There. Now, does anybody know what Amortentia is?" The professor asked, as his beady eyes scanned the room.
Seeing nobody, not even James or Lily raise their hands, Tom raised his hand in the air, and proceeded to answer, all this without letting go of my hand from under the desk.
"It's the most powerful love potion in existence so far. Has to be administered continuously otherwise the effects will wear off." Tom replied.
'What? are you not taking notes?' I teased.
'I've already studied this, I'll write downsome as we brew the potion.' He replied, his lips twitching in the corner.
"Very good, m'boy." The professor said, nodding ashe waddled by.
"Would anyone else like to add anything else to his answer?" He asked around the room.
"It's recognized by its unique mother of pearl sheen and the swirls that appear when brewed correctly. It is also known that if a child is conceived under the influences of the potion, it won't have the ability to feel emotions." I answered, wiggling out of Tom's grasps.
"Excellent. Fifty points to Slytherin." Professor said delighted.
At least the Professor seemed to ignore what had happened the other night.
"Now let's continue with the lesson. Today we shall be brewing the potion, when done correctly it gives the mother of pearl sheen as Miss.Riel said, though the smells vary depending on the person who smells it. So, let's begin preparing it shall we?" He said, pointing towards the back of the class as everyone moved out of the way.
The professor then flicked his wand in the air, causing the lab tables to move forward.
"Pair up." He said, as he made his way to his desk.
"Be careful now. It is a very dangerous potion, not harmful physically, but can still be dangerous." He added, eyeing Tom and me as he said it.
Merlin's Beard, I guess he hadn't forgotten.
I had to fight of the giggles I felt, as I remembered both Tom's and the Professor's shocked expressions. I lost my bearings as I remembered specifically Tom's expression, the shock written on it was something I hadn't seen since our second year when Madam Noelle had to explain to him that I wasn't hemorrhaging to death, that it was something normal occurrence in a woman's body, each month for a week.
By the time I had quieted down, thanks to Tom clamping his hand onto my thigh hard, digging his fingers hard into my sensitive skin. I also realized that almost everyone in the room was watching me in amusement. Even the professor, who was still standing in front of the class.
"If Miss. Riel is done giggling, then you can all commence brewing the potion..." He said, telling us to go ahead and begin.
"What was so amusing that you couldn't stop laughing for almost five minutes?" He asked, almost smirking as he dragged me towards one of the empty tables with a cauldron already set up onto of a small fire, floating a few inches above the table.
"I just remembered what happened the last time we did this and, second year when you learned what happens to a woman each month." I said, beginning to giggle again.
"Glad, I can amuse you." He muttered dryly, moving around the lab table as he went to get everything for the potion.
For obvious reasons, he told me to sit next to him, and begin preparing the ingredients to the potion as I watched as he adjusted the fire to the correct level of heat. While keeping a close eye on me as I prepared everything.
"What did you smell last time that we brewed this?" Tom asked me, suddenly interested.
"Umm, let's see, I smelled the scent of spare mint, pine and cedar... not sure what else I smelled but there was a smell of something else I couldn't place." I said, wondering, or rather trying to remember what else I smelled.
"Why? What did you smell?" I asked curiously, watching as the tips of his ears turned red.
"Jasmine, lavender, the distinct smell of fresh strawberries." He said, not making eyecontact, as he replied.
The last time we brewed this I distinctly remember wearing my jasmine and lavender body wash, and my favorite strawberry scented shampoo. I almost stiffened, as the realization, we had smelled the scents of each other.
We continued to work in silence, I watched as he carefully added the correct amount of each ingredients his skilled hands, stirring the right way every few minutes until he backed up and sat down next to me. I would occasionally adjust something and add an ingredient behind his back.We both watched as the potion began brewing, the steam began swirling into the air, and it gave of the distinct mother of pearl sheen.
"Great job you two. You shall both receive an O, fifty points to your house." The professor commented as he walked by our table.
We nodded in response and watched as he turned and walked to watch everyone else. I quickly pulled out two glass flasks, filled them with the potion and, slid them back into my bag. Tom raised an eyebrow at me, shaking his head in amusement as he watched.
When class was over, I quickly grabbed my bag and walked out of the room, towards Divination, I was anxious to get to that class for an odd reason. I reached the class, quickly made my way to the back of the class and sat down, rubbing my temples as I did so.
"What's wrong?" Bellatrix asked, sitting down as she watched Cissy sit down on the last chair of the table available.
"My head is feeling weird again, its weird though, yesterday it felt as if it were full of cotton. Bellatrix, I'm going to need you to meet me in my room along with Cissy and Meda after dinner." I said, knowing we didn't have classes after dinner tonight.
She nodded in response, turning to wait for class to begin.
"Today, we shall be readying tea leaves." The professor said.
I groaned, letting my head fall on the table with a loud thump. Which ended up making my head throb in the specific place as lifted my head, making Bellatrix snort and begin chortling loudly. Cissy giggled, with her hand covering her mouth.
"Merlin's beard, Cissy, look at the spot on her forehead." She said, pointing at my forehead where I felt the throbbing begin.
"Be quiet or you'll have the same red spot on your forehead." I grumbled, scowling as I rubbed my aching forehead with my palm, willing the pain to go away.
