CHAPTER 3

(BILL'S P.O.V)

I downed another bottle of Trueblood in frustration, as I thought about how I was going to address the small group that sat next to me in Merlotte's bar. As soon as I heard the news of the strange phenomenon that happened this morning from Tara, while we got Lisa and Coby back to their parents, I decided to call an emergency meeting with some of my most trusted allies. On my left sat Sookie, Sam, Lafayette, Tara, Mario, Holly, and Jessica. They all sat quietly talking with one another with worried looks on their faces. I glanced at the clock on the wall to see it was 4:00am. "I don't know what the fuck is the cause behind this incident this morning," Sam Merlotte suddenly spoke up in frustration. "But i'll like to start off this meeting by saying what everyone is thinking: What happened an hour ago, without a doubt is something supernatural."

"I've never seen anything like it," Sookie stated, turning to glance at me. "Bill, what are we gonna do?," she said softly to me. "Whatever it is, it is attacking the children of Bon Temp." "Whatever it is we have got to do something," Holly spoke up, arms folded, as she walked towards a window staring out. "After Arlene was awoken to the commotion just like us, it took over two hours to calm Arlene down." "I could only imagine every other mother tonight that was affected. We can't go through this again." "See…" Lafayette spoke up now. "Here's the motherfucking thing: We don't even know what's causing this. How are we suppose to fight what we don't know." I had to agree with Lafayette. Of all my vampire days I have never witnessed anything like it…

"We're not as off-track as you think," Jessica spoke up suddenly. Everyone including myself turned to her. "Bill, myself, and a few vampires made sure all Bon Temp kids were taken off the street tonight, and made sure they were back home with their parents." Jessica explained. "I noticed a lot of the kids that were affected, said that they heard some sort of music that none of us adults could hear." "That's true," I said in realization. "That's when they zoned out. Like they were under some sort of spell." "Yeah," Jessica continued. "But get this Bill: A Lot of the kids, if not all, that were affected were twelve years and under. No teenagers or adults were affected." "That's true…" Holly gasped in realization. "All my kids are teenagers, and no one was affected."

"I've been having recurring nightmares about Bon Temp being burnt to the ground for a while now." Mario suddenly blurted out. "I even saw Tara being killed before my eyes." Mario said, turning to Sookie with an upset expression on his face. "Oh wow," Lafayette commented, staring at Tara who wore a shocked look on her face.

"I don't think they're ordinary dreams," Mario continued to tell Sookie. "I need you to look inside my mind, and tell me if this is some sort of premonition, or this is just all in my head." The group remained quiet for a moment at Mario's shocking revelation. Mario stood up now and approached Sookie, who stood up as well and took his outstretched hands. "Clear your mind and think about your nightmare," Sookie gently told him. To say I was shocked was an understatement. Could it be that Mario saw it coming before any of us did?. We were all about to get our answer from Sookie. "It's okay Mario," Sookie continues to assure Mario, as the rest of us look on. "Just focus on the nightmare." Both Sookie and Mario's eyes were closed, as we waited.

I witnessed Sookie's calm assuring face suddenly become terrified, as she let go of Mario, and darted away from him, slamming into a table behind her. The glassware that was on the edge of the table, fell and broke at the impact.

"Jesus!..." Sam said and immediately grabbed a broom and dustpan. "What did you see Sookie?!," I demanded, shaking her a bit, as she continued to stare terrified at Mario. "It's no dream," Sookie managed to say, turning to me now. "I couldn't see who the villain was, but I could feel the hatred he has for Bon Temp. I could also feel his vengeance in waves. Mario was right to be afraid. Whoever he is, is heading directly for Bon Temp. He… he even killed Tara…" At that moment Sookie began to cry. I embraced Sookie in an attempt to comfort her, as Mario and Tara stared at one another in silence. Tara in total shock, as Mario stared back at he sadly.
