Percy Jackson
When Percy woke up, he felt a ache in his neck. His limbs felt like jelly, like someone had filled them up with pudding. He tried looking around, but everything was dark. He even rubbed his eyes to make sure his eyelids were indeed open and he wasn't just looking around with his eyes closed like a dumbass.
He tried to stand but since it was so dark, he could barely see where he was standing. He felt around in the darkness, trying to find something to help him get up.
Then he remembered Riptide. He must've dropped it when he fell but he could feel it in his pocket. He dug through his pocket, eventually pulling out the familiar ballpoint pen. He uncapped it, the yellow light of the Celestial Bronze showing off the rest of the room.
"What is this?" Percy asked himself as he looked around.
The room was more like a prison cell. The walls were made of metal, a dark gray metal. Nothing about this place felt warm or comforting. He found a bed, but it was more of a mattress thrown onto a metal shelf jutting out of the wall with a torn quilt blanket on it. No pillow or anything. The toilet was at least a actual toilet. Other than that, the room was bare.
Percy turned his attention to the only door in the room, the exit. It looked like a typical medieval prison door. It was made of the same metal the room was and it had a small slot at the top so the guards could look inside without putting themselves at risk, then there was a larger slot for food to be passed in.
He glanced down at Riptide. He could jam his sword through either of the slots and kill the guard but it wouldn't do him any good. He'd never be able to get the keys from the guard.
The truth was, Percy had no idea how he was going to escape. He just didn't know enough to plan an escape. He had no idea where he was, who had captured him, and what he wanted to know the most, who was that girl?
Percy walked to the door and kicked it, hoping that something would happen. Hopefully the door would break or something.
After five minutes, he gave up. The door wasn't going to budge. He turned and walked over to the bed, slumping down on it, and letting his eyes shut. On the bright side, the room was dead quiet, which meant falling asleep was far easier than Percy thought it would be.
Percy's dream was hazy, yet he was still able to recognize where he was. The lake's waters dotted with canoes was enough of a hint. The lush forests of Camp Half-Blood surrounded the lake. A pair of campers flew overhead on Pegasus. He was back at camp, but he wasn't sure why.
The sound of campers going about their day or the water gently splashing against the docks he was sitting on were calming and for the first time in a while, a smile spread across Percy's face.
Percy tilted his head back and started to relax. It felt like the weight on his shoulders were starting to be lifted, bit by bit. His worries seemed to melt away and leave him alone for once rather than bombard his mind with what ifs.
The sound of footsteps behind him caused Percy to look over his shoulder. He found himself staring at a familiar daughter of Athena. Annabeth walked towards him, wearing a smile on her face. Her camp necklace hung around her neck, the orange camp shirt on her body fluttered due to the light breeze.
"What are you doing out here by yourself, dork?" She asked jokingly before sitting down next to him. She took her flip flops off and dipped her feet into the water.
Percy wanted to ask how she was even with him in his dream but it seemed dream him had a mind of its own.
"Relaxing." He said, "I know you've never heard of it."
Annabeth rolled her eyes and slugged him on the arm, but she was smiling all the same. She looked out over the lake, her gray eyes taking on a softer look. Percy found himself still surprised that she was even here. He wanted to tackle her in a hug but the dream wouldn't let him.
"The lake's beautiful." Annabeth said.
"It is." Percy agreed, looking out at the lake with her.
The two sat there, not speaking as they stared at the lake and let their thoughts run free. When Percy heard her shifting around, he thought this was it, she was going to leave him finally and he could go back to sulking.
Instead, he felt her press up against him. He looked over and found Annabeth hugging him, her head leaning on his arm.
"Thanks for coming for me." She said at last.
"Huh?"
"Atlas and Luke." She said, "You came for me, even though you weren't allowed to."
Percy couldn't help but grin, "I'll always come for you, Annabeth."
Annabeth looked up at him with a endearing look, like she had found some solace in him telling her that. He hoped she did.
Percy knew Annabeth struggled with people leaving her. He wasn't going to abandon her, but she didn't know that. Plenty of people abandoned her even though they should've been there. Her dad, Athena, Luke. Those three were all people Annabeth looked up to, yet they all left her the same. Even Thalia left her, though Percy was grateful she still visited.
"Well, I'll come for you too." Annabeth replied, "Promise me one thing."
Percy hummed.
"Promise me that we'll never lose each other." She said, "I don't care if it takes us years, just don't give up on us."
Percy nodded, "I won't."
The smile Annabeth gave him made everything worth it. She leaned in and for a moment, he thought he was about to have a heart attack. The butterflies in his stomach bounced around in joy, only to slam against the walls of his stomach when she placed a kiss on his cheek.
Percy sat there, stunned for a moment. His eyes were wide and full of life. He stared at Annabeth, who chuckled at the look on his face. He had no doubt he looked beyond stupid.
"W-why'd you do that?" Percy stammered.
Annabeth smiled and said, "Think of it as a thank you."
Percy smiled. He got ready to admit his true feelings only for a bright flash to cover his vision.
He shot up in bed, looking around the pitch-black room. He felt his cheek where he felt Annabeth kiss him. He wasn't sure why he was making such a big deal over that kiss specifically, it wasn't like she hadn't kissed him before. She kissed him on the cheek after the chariot races then gave him a full on kiss in Hephaestus's forge.
Maybe it was because that kiss actually felt like she was doing it out of pure unfiltered love. The kiss in Mount Saint Helens was more desperate than loving. He barely even felt the kiss after the chariot race, it was too quick to even be considered remotely loving. Yet that kiss on the docks did something to him, he wasn't sure what though.
That's when the doors to the cell he was in opened. The metal door groaned as someone on the other side opened it. When the door was fully opened, bright orange light filled the room. He could make out torches mounted on the walls outside of his cell. A black silhouette stood in the door.
Percy nearly growled when he saw the silhouette. It was a girl and judging from her armor, it was that same girl who distracted him and got him taken down in the hallway of that grungy apartment building.
The girl stepped in. Percy noted her armor obscured her body but he could still see strips of skin that her armor didn't cover. If he was correct, she wasn't wearing a top under her armor. The thought would've made him blush if he weren't so mad at being captured.
"You!" Percy shouted, his voice echoing through the cell.
He wanted to tackle her and beat the shit out of her, but he knew better than that. If he attacked her, he would just piss his captors off and he had a feeling there were more people involved in capturing her than just this girl. Plus, where would he go? He had no idea where he was.
"Yes, me." She said through her mask.
"Who the fuck are you?" He asked angrily.
The girl laughed, "Maybe this'll jog your memory."
When the girl took off her helmet, Percy's eyes widened.
"It's good to see you again, Seaweed Brain." Annabeth said, a malicious smile growing across her face.
