Chapter 1: First day of Junior High
It was quite a busy day in Venture Falls. Everyone was busy getting ready for whatever the day brings them; adults were preparing for work, children for school and so for.
In one little white house, Toby Tripp was packing his stuff ready for a new year at Venture Falls Junior High. He had to make sure everything was in his bag so that Mum or Dad wouldn't nag at him for making sure we would pack EVERYTHING.
Toby looked deep inside his bag. Pencil case? Check. Water bottle? Check. Books? Not that I really need but might be important so, check. Lunch? Che-wait.
He peered deeper into his school bag and noticed in his lunch box, there were four sandwiches instead of the usual two.
'Four sandwiches?' he thought. 'Hang on. I don't usually have four sandwhi-'
And that's when Toby completely forgot about his little brother Nick.
Racing towards Nick's room, Toby swiftly grabbed the two sandwiches meant for his brother and opened the door in a huff.
Nick, who was one year younger than his brother, briskly turned his head to notice Toby suddenly on his knees from all his running.
"Oh. Hi Toby." he said with a grin on his face. "I see you brought my sandwiches."
Toby let out a heavy sigh. "I guess Dad mixed up our sandwiches again." He handed Nick's sandwiches over.
Nick had a closer look at the sandwiches and then put them in his school bag. "You're maybe right."
Toby began move and sat on Nick's comfortable bed. "So, do you have any ideas for what the new year would be like, little bro?"
Nick raised a sharp eyebrow. "Tobe, you're in your final year before you start high school, you should really be studying hard this year," he explained.
At that moment, Toby realised that his brother was right. It was his final year at junior high before high school and he needed to study. But who needed time to study when you can spend your last year of junior high doing fun stuff!
"Um, Toby?"
That was the sound of Nick, waking Toby's thoughts away from the fantasy. "We should be going."
As soon as Toby looked at his brother's clock on the wall, he started to panic with fear. The clock said 8:45. Without having Nick to remind him, he grabbed all of his stuff and charged out of Nick's bedroom.
Nick rolled his eyes at his brother's sudden disappearance. Usually, he would be the one who would panic at all things academic, but not this time. 'It's funny how Toby doesn't always care about school, so why is he bothering about it now?' he thought.
Grabbing his school bag, Nick walked out of his room and began to catch up with his older brother.
The walk from home to school wasn't too bad for the two brothers. Throughout that time, they both observed everything around them. Toby could hear the sounds of chatter among various other people doing things that they would usually do. Nick meanwhile could smell the sweet amora of the apples, different types of flowers he would know and the fresh air. The atmosphere during the walk seemed almost peaceful in a way, like the first day of Spring. Nick, however, felt concerned about something but brushed it off and carried on walking with his brother.
When both brothers arrived at Venture Falls Junior High school, they spotted two of their other friends: Jessica, who was the same age as Nick and Lucas, the youngest of the bunch who was two years younger than Toby.
Jessica bolted towards the brothers with a smile on her face. "Oh, it's so good to see you both again!" she squealed. "How did the summer holidays go?"
Toby shrugged. "It's the same as every holiday – new adventures, new things to discover and also-"
"Alright!" Lucas raised up a hand to stop Toby from talking. "It seems that we have a LOT to talk about."
Nick agreed at Lucas' comment. "It seems we have. After all, a lot has happened during the summer holidays."
"So, whose holiday shall we talk about first?" asked a curious Jessica.
But before any of the kids said a word, the school bell began to rang.
"I guess it's time," sighed Toby. "See you at the usual lunch table?"
Jessica nodded. "Always," she headed into the main school building with Nick. "See you later!"
And so, with Lucas and Toby heading towards their respective classes, the four kids began their first day of a new year at Junior High.
Expect for a big black cloud that suddenly disrupted the peaceful blue sky…
