On their first expedition into the new world the Reds and Blues had been tasked with scouting out the territory of the new world. On their first expedition, the group had encountered a Flame Dragon in an elven village, home to Tuka Luna Marceau, her father Hodor, and whoever remained after the Dragon had left. Now the survivors, alongside the Reds and Blues begin to formulate a plan. This is the story of the Reds and Blues.
[The elven territory, the Koan Forest village of Kowan.]
After Tucker had gotten out of the well he reunited the chief of the village with his unconscious daughter, then went off to the side to take care of himself. While Tucker was fixing himself up, Church was going around the burnt village buildings and the bodies to access the damage that the Dragon caused. As the masses both thanked and cried to the skies for sparing them but leaving so much devastation Sarge started to view the damages that they took. They all had their own problems that they were facing at the time.
The Medical team arrived a little later to see what was once the luscious green woods now turned to smoking ash and embers around them. After being explained what had occurred the team went to work with Doctors Grey, treating the injured and wounded while Doc had assisted her in the manner. Now more than ever the elves saw their rescuers as heroes who had healing magic equivalent to their own. Truly, relations between the remaining members of the elven community, the UNSC and the people of Chorus could be something more someday.
Church got back to a Tucker with a towel on the back of his neck, helmet drying to the side and an ice pack on the side of his head. So far all it seemed he would suffer was a few bumps or bruises. Church stood in front of Tucker to give him the news, "How's your head?"
"Fine? What happened? Did we scare that thing off?" Tucker inquired with a groan.
"More like that thing decided we weren't even worth the effort. The machine gun on the Warthog didn't even dent it. We managed to just barely take down the wyverns with those but they weren't hundreds of times bigger, nor did they have a flamethrower and napalm."
"What about the people?"
"Well we're looking at about 68 survivors. From what I gathered from the locals they only found 13 bodies, but we're looking at about 32 foundations. All of which look about the same size as some family homes. The survivors say that they're missing twenty more or so, more than likely in the rubble but hopefully they scattered in other parts of the forest."
"Damn it. What about the injured."
"Doctor Grey is treating the last of them, even ordered her not to do anything like experiment on them at all."
"And the girl?" Tucker looked up at Church.
Church looked over to where the chief was, in the back of their razorback, "We believe she has a concussion and few scratches, other than that she'll live. She's the village chief's daughter."
"You're shitting me?! I saved a princess?!" Tucker exclaimed.
Church tossed another towel at Tucker's wet head, "No damnit, do you see any castles or that damn mouse coming to cash a check?"
"My bad man. What do you have against Disney anyway?"
"Ask me that again, then remember who Walt Disney was behind close doors."
"Oh."
"Yeah, I ain't forgiving him. Disney still needs work but they're getting better."
"So... what do we do now?"
"Well I would say report in to command but..." Church hesitated.
Tucker caught that moment Church held back, "But?"
"...but I've been doing the numbers in my head and there's a good chance Command won't let us take these people in as refugees."
"We can't just leave them."
"Alright, so we'll just do what we usually do."
"Do whatever the hell we want?" Tucker guessed.
Church nodded, "And without asking for permission."
"Sounds good. Can you let the guys know."
"Sounds fair, but we should stop by that other village to let them know what's up."
"Sounds good. I'll go let everyone know." Church started to leave as Tucker got up.
A familiar voice called out behind him, "Hey Tucker."
"Oh, hey Kai, how ya been?" Tucker greeted her shyly.
"So, this new world seems crazy right?"
"Yeah, I know right?"
"All these fantasy creatures, the folks, it's all unbelievable. Kinda makes me think of doing something..."
"Yeah... oh... you mean now?"
"Oh yeah."
"Well I mean I'm not sure how long the Docs are gonna be, Church could come back but we should have time." Tucker checked the time in his helmet feed.
Kai cheered at the news, "Okay after that elf chief, I'm thinking we find an orc, then maybe a dwarf, ohh maybe some dark elves."
"You planning to start your own dungeon and dragon party with everyone?"
"What? No, I'm talking about some fantasy sex."
"Oh... I-I get it..."
"Oh, Tucker, you didn't think I meant that you wanted fantasy sex with you, did you?"
"No, I mean... yeah."
Kaikaina laughed a little at that answer, "Oh... Tucker, I'm sorry I just y'know wanted to have some fun with some new people. Hey you think that they're some half-giants in this world, meh whatever I'm gonna find something giant."
"Yeah... cool."
"Wait, I didn't hurt your feelings did I?"
"No... I'm gonna go check on something with Church."
"Cool." Kaikaina saw Tucker leave as she went to see if she could flirt her way past a language barrier.
[Few Minutes Later]
Church had finished informing everyone of the plan and the medics had patched everyone they could have. The idea of being a convoy for some civilians made Sarge a little uneasy, as he believed his military status was far above the duties of some bodyguard service. However he agreed as long as no civilians would be in his truck for a free ride. Only The medical vehicle Lopez drove, and the commanding Warthog were to be used to transport the unconscious elf and those too hurt to walk or ride on horseback.
It was a good thing that the elven people had the ability to call upon nature for several horses, as no one had their foot touch the ground. Almost no one. Church looked in the sideview mirror on the driver's side to see Tucker try to negotiate a ride on a horse with an elf. He scratched his head at pure confusion he was getting from watching the scene outside.
Church turned to Kaikaina who just got into the passenger seat, "Hey, do you know what's up with Tucker?"
"Oh, I think I hurt his feelings by accident." Kaikaina answered honestly.
Church chuckled as he couldn't believe it, "What happened that could make him that sad?"
"Well I was mentioning a fantasy kink because we're in this world, right?"
"Obviously." Church rolled his eyes.
"Apparently he thought I was asking to screw him, but nah. Why settle for average when you can screw an elf or an orc? Am I right?"
"..." Church stayed silent for a moment, "Okay, so you cleared that up, right?"
"Yeah, then we both had a laugh about. More like I was laughing, he left to check on something." Kaikaina finished her explanation to see Church with a blank face, "You okay?"
[Minutes Later]
"...Then he called me an insensitive bitch and kicked me out. Then I went to Sarge's jeep but they just cranked up their music to ignore me. What's up with that?" Kaikaina asked, Doc, Donut, Doctor Grey and Lopez.
Donut waisted no time with his sass, "Well, when you put it like that, girl something is wrong with you."
"This sounds like an HR problem." Doc suggested.
Kaikaina rolled her eyes, "Yeah good luck with that, seeing as how I screwed the HR's fiance."
Silence filled the Razorback as no one wanted to dive into any more conversation with Kai.
[Back in The Main Vehicle]
Church took the driver seat as Tucker stared off in the distance from the passenger window. Being next to a moody best friend wasn't something that he was looking forward to but he wasn't exactly the expert when it came to this subject. So he did whatever he could within his power and knowledge of what to do next.
"So... feelings..." Church awkwardly said placing a hand on Tucker's shoulder.
Tucker smiled as he tried to brush it off, "I'm fine man, let's just finish this mission and get back to base."
"...I hear they added a gym... I know you've been working out and training like crazy... wanna go check it out after this?"
"...Yeah, I'd appreciate that."
Church smiled as they started to drive off towards Coda Village, to warn the people and see if they could take in the elves.
[Coda Village]
Once the team had arrived with the group of elves accompanying them they were greeted by the same chief they had met from the last time they had stopped by. The chief welcomed with a little more caution, as he saw the elven archers and people backing them up. The chief knew the elves had better understanding of magic, almost as great of an understanding as the village chief himself.
Church and Tucker got out with Hodor to meet with the leaders to discuss what would happen. Opening the back doors they only allowed a select few to listen in on their conversation, and the elven leader's daughter.
"I see so these people were driven from their home?" The Chief from Coda Village asked.
Hodor answered, "Yes, by a flame dragon. But these men saved as many as they could have, it is because of them we all have each other."
"Can you take them in?" Church asked, receiving a saddened expression from both the elf for needing to ask for help and the Chief for his answer.
The elder human tilted his hat and shook his head, "Now that we know it was a flame dragon we have to make preparations ourselves. Once a Dragon gets a taste for human or elven flesh then it's appetite will insatiable. That's why we must leave."
"I see..." Church stated as he went over to inform his team pass the rushing crowds of the town. Immediately he told Sarge, Tucker and Doctor Grey about what was happening.
A few minutes later the twelve of them along with a few volunteer elves joined in and began to help the people of Coda with their evacuation. Each member tasked with a small group of two elves and few other villagers assisting to make things go faster. The faster they got away, the farther they could get, the safer they would be from the Flame Dragon.
Simmons tasked with organizing supplies they would need and fairly distributing the weight among the carts that were available to them. Lopez, Sarge, Junior and Caboose were to help with the heavy lifting should anyone of the 600 villagers start to falter, they would step in. Grif and Kai kept the children of the village entertained and kept their minds off the worrying situation. Doc, Doctor Grey and Donut were the medical group should any health emergency arise during the evacuation.
Church and Tucker were busy rushing back and forth between the long caravan of 600 fear stricken villagers while joining Hodor Marceau and the Coda village chief on horseback to save time. There was one final emergency at the front of the line where an axel to a wagon because someone had overloaded it without checking it first. So the two leaders ran to the front with Lopez and Doctor Grey to check for damages and fix everything.
The Wagon was broken at the axel, which Lopez decided to start to fix as Caboose held the heavy wagon for him. Doctor Grey checked on a young child who must have fallen off the horse, as a peculiar blue haired young girl came to watch them with wonder. That's when the horse stood up and went berserk as it got up on it's hind legs to strike the medic and civilians beneath it.
That's when a loud bang rang out, deafening everyone who had never heard the sound of sniper rifle and those who have heard it but weren't prepared for it. The horse dropped as quickly as it raised as the soldier with a smoking weapon went forward to ensure the beast didn't suffer anymore. Church closed his eyes as he closed the horse's eyes and went back to lean against the wall of a one of the now vacant houses as Tucker joined him to catch his breath.
Sarge approached them as he marched his way over from assisting with some carrying duties to the village people. He cleared his throat to gain their attention, "Excuse me, Blue and Other Blue."
"What's up Sarge?" Church asked taking a swig from his canteen.
Sarge furrowed his brow as he looked at the two leaders, "Why are we here again? Don't these people have some Lord or some Knights they could turn to?"
"We checked. Apparently they were all sent Alnus." Tucker answered taking a drink from Church's water.
"Ya don't mean...?"
"We're kinda the reason they're screwed. Guess I kinda want to make it right." Tucker replied looking at the ground.
Sarge had a new look under his helmet, "Well then I guess you'll be happy to hear, Lopez had fixed the wagon and the elves are helping us wrangle in another horse."
"And the evacuation?" Church questioned.
"Almost good to leave, we're just gonna do another run down to make sure no one or nothing was left behind. Then we'll leave within the hour."
Tucker nodded as he looked at the sky going from the clear aqua blue to a slightly darker tinted color. Turning to his partner he looked at him up and down, "What's the chances of everything going smoothly?"
"26% chance."
"What about things going bad tonight?"
"We'll only be able to get a few miles out, once we're far enough tonight we can set up camp and leave again tomorrow morning. If we sleep in an old wagon trail formation we should be good. Don't worry, I got your back."
"Yeah... who knows, maybe we'll have a guardian angel watching out for us."
[Later That Night]
A group of bandits joined around a campfire under the starry night sky to discuss their plans for a future job. Some were born into the life, some were brought into it, others were burdened to become bandits by circumstance. Whatever the reason they were joined together with hearts filled with rotten evil intentions plotting the next scheme.
The mention of Coda Village was brought up as one of them came from that area to scout it out, "I heard everybody in Coda Village is gonna bail out tonight."
"Sounds like easy pickings." The leader of the pack of bandits announced.
"It's not like we have a whole lot of guys, man." A scrawnier thief argued.
"Well get this, a bunch of the defeated soldiers are camping out. They'll jump at the chance to join us. We offer those guys a little something and we make an army of our own. Take down an entire city."
"And force the Lord out of the area."
"From leading a bunch of troublemakers to having my own city... I like it." The leader announced until something struck him from the rear, forcing him to fall on his side with his devilish grin still on his face.
As his followers looked up they saw what was a young woman with a large halberd in hand, "Good evening, gentlemen." She wore a black dress with red frills, black stockings supported with garters and a red boots, "I am so glad you can all get together like this. And I'm so very thankful that you have offered your lives for charity. To the supreme God who loves the way you naughty boys have behaved yourselves." She cut down another one as she walked forward, "You should be honored he is asking you to join him in the afterlife." Her silhouette illuminated in the moonlight as her hair flowed to the side, her violet eyes matched with her dark purple lips shimmered at her targets, "You may call me Rory Mercury, I am an Apostle of the Dark God Emroy."
That night was filled with blood, screams and slashes as 'Rory The Reaper' cut up every single one of those unfortunate souls she came across. They tried to run but she was too fast, they tried to hide but she would find them, fighting was out of the option as she would easily overpower them. So the screams and nightmares of the night was exchanged as that woman fought back against everything.
[The Next Morning with The Caravan]
Doctor Grey switched over to the front car to check on the unconscious elf daughter of the chief Hodor Marceau who stayed by her side as he waited for whatever may happen. Sarge covered the middle of the pack, as Lopez's group backed up the rear to make sure no one was left behind. Meanwhile The leading vehicle helped some of those who were too tired to walk. While Caboose kept the children occupied with tales of their ventures fro his point of view, good thing the children didn't know what Caboose was saying and only enjoyed his silly movements and dances.
Dr. Grey finished her scan of Tuka and informed Church of her findings, "Good news, she's very stable and we should expect her to awaken very soon."
"Good to hear, although I don't think I'd want to wake up here." Church commented as he looked outside at the current situation.
Tucker was looking out his mirror at the huge flood of people following them, "Have any of them said where they're going?"
"I've gotten out and bounced it around but nothing to give me a solid answer."
"What? Seriously?"
"Right now our main goal is to put as much distance between us and that thing is possible. I just wish things would go by faster." Church looked ahead again.
[A poor family somewhere in the convoy]
A wife and her husband were lucky enough to get a wagon for themselves to carry their cargo so they could keep moving. Being near the back of the line made them uncomfortable as they feared it would leave them open to an attack from the Flame Dragon. So they made the history decision to attempt to advance in the line by driving alongside it.
It brought them only misfortune as their wooden wheels sank into the already worn out muddy road. The horse couldn't budge further and the wagon seemed immovable as the husband got out to push while the wife did what she could. Eventually it got to the point where she began to call out to other travelers for aid.
"Please! Don't leave us please! This all we have!" she had cried to anyone who would listen, but to no avail. Tears had begun to pour down her eyes as she thought about what may happen to them.
That's when she felt the wagon budge and give, as it went forward. Looking back she saw the red one, the orange one, the maroon one and the brown one all group up to push the wagon with her husband. Their combined efforts made the wagon move ahead, almost clear of the mud. Their strength was holding but would only lasts for so long as they pondered how they would get it out the rest of the way.
Then the blue one, the biggest of them had arrived behind the vehicle. Gently nudging all of them including the villager to the side, he placed two hands on the wagon and with one push was able to knock the wooden ride out and clear onto the more solid road.
She couldn't help but waving back at the ones in armor who had saved them from being left behind. Or worse, being left for a The Flame Dragon. Their reputation with the people was better received.
[Later]
Doctor Grey had some reserved feelings on how Church's co-leadership skills were carried out as they encountered a heartbreaking scenario on their journey. A cart's axel had broken down later on, Lopez attempted to fix it but assessed that it couldn't be done, that is was damaged beyond repair. Church brought it up with the chief and they came to the conclusion to have the family take what was absolutely essential for them. The family did as they were told but refused to leave their cart to thieves or anything else. So Church, with a heavy heart ordered the cart to be burned, burdening himself with having to be seen as cruel through the eyes of the people.
Doctor Grey confronted him in the ride about this, "Why did you force them to burn their stuff?"
"Because the family wouldn't have let it go unless we did." Church replied.
"We could have requested another transport vehicle."
"The chances of that one more transport vehicle setting off some type of alarm is far too great to take that chance. So far we got to where we are ourselves with luck due to our unit's small size, but if we grow any larger and bring anymore attention to ourselves it'll be seen as an invasion. They attack us, we shoot them, they grow in numbers and strike again, then we're bombing the hell out of them and we fail the possibility of peace we tried to make in the first place." Church relayed the probable future he estimated thanks to what would be the memory of Delta within him.
Dr. Grey recalled that Church would have those abilities and anticipated he used his logic to determine this, "I guess this was the best solution?"
"We have to do the best we can to help. Cause no one is helping us."
"I'm helping you." Dr. Grey replied.
Tucker looked in the distance thanks to his binoculars he used to see something up ahead, "Church, what are the odds we run into something that we should worry about?"
"57% chance. Why?"
"Up ahead."
Church borrowed his binoculars as he looked up ahead to see a murder of crows form ahead, at first he assumed it was because of some dead animal. Then he began to see a large halberd obscure his sight as he looked away then zoomed back in on his target. That's when he saw her, Rory Mercury, there was something about that made him uneasy as she seemed to be looking directly at him, despite being so far away. Church turned to Tucker, "Um, have any more portals opened up in maybe some regular population areas in the world? Because I think I see a cosplayer."
"What?" Tucker asked looking up ahead again seeing the possible cosplayer.
The Reaper, Rory started to approach them and come closer as she held her large weapon as though it were nothing. In the language of the natives she tried to talk to the soldiers, "From where do you fine Ladies and Gentlemen hail, and what's that strange little contraption?"
"She seems like trouble..." Tucker suggested as he locked his door.
Church followed suit and slowly started rolling up his window, "I'm getting level 10 nope vibes."
"Are you guys that scared of a girl in a maid costume?" Dr. Grey questioned.
The kids who had hitched a ride in the truck with the elven chief and his daughter, along with a few other burst out with joy to see her. Begin to claim what she was, "Oracle! She's the Oracle!"
"Hey, be careful. Oracle?" Church barked out before questioning what he heard.
The kids along with a few adults approached with hope in their eyes, as she began to ask her questions to her, "And where are you kids from?"
"Coda Village, ma'am." One of the children.
"We're running away from our village, because it was attacked." An elderly woman admitted.
"A flame dragon appeared. So we evacuated." A male villager stated.
Back in the jeep the Dr. and the co-captains viewed the situation, as two of them possessed two of the smartest minds they were able to make some conclusion, "Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it look as though they are praying to her."
"Yeah, but... why is every bone in my artificial body telling me to run?" Church asked.
Almost as if she was right next to them, Rory paused for a moment to look directly at Church making him tighten and freeze in his seat. She began her slow walk to the heavily armored jeep, as she was curious at both the machine and the people inside, "So who are these strangers you're with?"
"They came and helped us. They're the good guys." The child she asked earlier answered.
"And you're certain they're not taking you somewhere against your will?"
"Nuh-mm."
"So how is this moving without any horses?"
"I don't know. But one thing is for sure it's a lot more comfortable than a carriage."
Rory grew a devious grin hearing this as a plan formed in her mind as she looked directly at Church, the one who fascinated her the most, "Really? More comfortable than a carriage?... Well I would just love for you to show me how comfortable the ride is."
Church put on his best fake smile as he spoke to Tucker first then to the Reaper, "Tell me you locked my fucking door. Hello, how can I help you?"
He didn't, as Rory swung open the door and placed herself in a very comfortable position right onto the lap of a now very uncomfortable Church. As Church struggled Dr. Grey sat back down knowing Church was the victim and being unable to know how to feel about it exactly as she sank into her seat. Meanwhile Tucker felt how comfortable his friend was as his best friend started to squirm to get her off.
[Later]
Everyone stayed quiet after the possible fiasco that would have thrown Church into prison, as he eventually scooted to the window to avoid the small apostle next to him. Tucker drove as he checked back at not only the passengers in the car but all who were traveling with them. Sarge's Warthog and the other Razorback joined the front due to their journey almost being over.
Their landscape had changed from grass hills and plains, to a barren desert, with scorching heat that reminded the Reds and Blues of Blood Gulch. Several people were tired, Donut and Doc occasionally left to hand out water bottles among the people. They didn't have a lot, but it sure as hell was better than being given nothing, as a few shared.
Tucker stuck his head out to get some fresh air, despite it being hot as hell, "Damn, we almost there Church? Can't recall how far we've gone, and some of these people are on foot."
"Yeah, if we stay at this pace, we should reach the next town by either midnight tonight or maybe a little later, by tomorrow's morning." Church used his helmet head's up display to get a lay of the land. The helmets had a tech upgrade despite the armor being made of cheaper material.
As Church turned to Tucker, Rory, who sat next to him looked up at his face with delight, making him scoot over and look at the window. Overseeing everything out behind them Church looked back as he brought his helmet outside the window, "I always hated the heat." Scanning the back he saw a sight that made him cautious.
A large wyvern like the ones they had shot down back in Armonia, had appeared in the back from the sun's blinding light as it seemed to be in a hurry to somewhere. Church wasn't too concerned if that got too close, as either the gun on the Warthog or his sniper rifle would be able to take it out. Until it finally came closer, it wasn't flying to something, it was flying to get away from that bastard of a Flame Dragon. With one big chomp, the Dragon munched on the much smaller wyvern before turning it's sight to the people in the caravan, "Incoming, 6 o'clock!" Church shouted on the radio.
A long breath of fire had scorched several people and horses in one go, as they tried their best to flee from the situation. The flames came as several died running for their lives in fear as this massive force of nature appeared to consume them for a snack. In the brief moment it went unchallenged it had taken nearly 150 people, leaving some waiting for inevitability of their demise.
That's when loud pops and bursts of fire with steel were shot at the Dragon as the multicolored soldiers had rushed in to face this monster. First, Tucker's light Razorback, then Sarge's Warthog and finally Lopez's heavy Razorback. Driving around the creature gave them the distance and time to plan a strategy while shooting at it.
"So what's, the plan... that doesn't involve us getting turned into barbecue?" Grif questioned, worried for his safety.
Simmons aimed the big gun at the monster, but held off firing for a moment, "I concur, while I do wish to help the people, I think we might need to strategically fall back to future victory."
"Sarge, slap them for me." Tucker ordered, hearing two hits over the radio followed by wimpy whines, "Let me check with Church, he's got to have a plan. Church what do you got? Church?"
"..." Church was unable to answer as he was currently frozen looking at the monster. Not by fear, but something else, the numbers that would lead to them all making it back home from this mission, "..."
"Caboose, switch seats with Church and... help the Dragon." Tucker ordered, knowing Caboose would somehow screw it up one way or another, "Okay so... we may have to improvise. So just keep shooting until it either fucks off or dies!"
"That's an order I can follow." Sarge responded switching his shotgun for the SAW machine gun he had on hand as he blasted at the Dragon with Simmons, as Grif drove around the monster. Lopez following them as Donut shot for him, while Tucker drove the other way around, to confuse beast as best he could.
After laying into the monster for a solid few seconds of sustained fire, they saw no real damage from it. Tucker had to stay determined and focused to keep everyone from panicking, "Damnit, keep it up it's got to have a soft spot, a weak point. Does it have balls?"
"No go, I tried it earlier." Simmons answered, "Watch out, bitch is spitting fire. Not in the rapping way, in the... we're fucked way."
Everyone heeded the warning and drove out of the way of the inferno that would have melted their tires and cooked their rides as they tried strategizing again. Tucker couldn't do much from the driver side as he had Junior hop forward to take the wheel while Tucker replaced Caboose's seat and aimed his gun he borrowed outside as he thought of what to do next. His mind racing, hoping for a miracle to come his way.
He was startled by the beautiful elf he had rescued from earlier, her clothes had been cut open so she wouldn't freeze which made her currently naked. Tucker did his best not to look but caught a glimpse or two thanks to his helmet hiding his face, "Oh... ummm hey... now's not a good time."
"Ono. Yuriryu Ono!" The lovely elf named Tuka shouted.
Tucker glanced once more at her chest then realized she was trying to tell him something important, forcing him to concentrate, "Wait, huh?"
"Ono! ONO!" She emphasized pointing at her eye.
Tucker looked back to see one of the arrows from the previous battle they had with it had lodged itself in it's left eye while the right one remained squinted to avoid anything damaging that one. Unfortunately it didn't count on Tucker getting smart, "The eyes, aim for the eyes!"
Every available gun started shooting at the eyes keeping it blind and staggering it from the pain in it's one weak point of it's face. The bullets made the beast roar with it's head back, but that pain wouldn't be enough to beat the Dragon, they needed something big.
Doc started twitching as he reverted to O'Malley, "Oh damn it! Must I do everything?" Reaching into a case he brought with him he pulled out two specialized rocket launcher pipes with a skull and crossbones on the side. Getting a wicked grin he opened the top roof to aim his weapon. Getting some bumpy roads he yelled at his driver, "Hold her steady, damnit! Let's see wind speed, check. Grip, check. Is my back clear?"
"JUST SHOOT THE DAMN THING!" Everyone yelled.
O'Malley fired as Lopez hit a bump forcing the rocket to miss it's mark making everyone worry, and hope for another miracle. As it appeared in the form a gothic lolita with a giant halberd. She kicked open the back doors and flipped onto the roof with to use her mighty weapon. Tossing it like a javelin, she seemed to have the powers of Thor as her halberd emitted a bolt of lightning, making the floor crack beneath the Dragon.
"Yes, direct hit!" Tucker cheered as the Dragon cried out in pain, it was forced to retreat from the fight. With a missing arm the Dragon knew this fight would end horribly for it Flying away it gave everyone a chance to enjoy their victory and catch their breath.
[Later That Night]
The groups of soldiers, remaining elves and villagers dug a large mass grave for their loved ones who fell to the nasty Dragon who showed no sign of pity or remorse for it's action. They would have dug individual graves, but the burnt victims were too unrecognizable. They couldn't tell elf from human, male from female, child from elder, truly nothing could be done but to at least offer a burial. The families paid their final respects to the dead with a prayer, even those who hadn't lost a family member bowed their heads in prayers.
Church had recovered and bowed his head, fighting back tears of his hesitation, he remembered why he froze. As the odds of all of them making it out were almost literally zero, unlike the other times. All he could now was comfort a little girl who clinging to his hand, after she lost both her mother and father.
Tucker and Church met up with the chief to discuss what comes next, "From what I gathered from the people. A lot of them have arrangements with other families and friends, while a few others have other plans of making a living and working out their issues. But that's not the real problem."
"The real problem is that attack left a lot of old folks and kids without a family, not only that but we still have a group of elf's, they only lost about ten people in that last attack but still... We can run it by the chiefs. But I think we know what's gonna happen." Tucker looked worried for the remaining elves, the new orphans and the elderly people.
The old human chief shook his head as he couldn't bare to look the soldiers who helped them in the eye, "It may seem heartless, but we simply can't help them. We couldn't possibly stretch ourselves any thinner."
"You're leaving them?" Church repeated once, then again in English for Tucker.
The Chief and those nearby removed their hats to show respect to the soldiers who risked everything to protect complete strangers of a foreign land, "We can not thank any of you, enough. You have saved us more than anyone can ask for. You will forever have our gratitude."
The main convoy of villagers waved goodbye as they continued their movement to a safe place they could finally call home. The soldiers waved back, a few shedding tears, not Sarge though, at least not that he would admit it. Now came the decision on what to do with the survivors that couldn't travel with them.
Tucker stepped forward with a big grin as he already practiced what he was gonna say, despite whether they could understand them or not, "Don't worry, we promise. Everything is gonna be alright." He delivered after he removed his helmet with a smile and a peace sign.
Church placed a hand on his shoulder, "Y'know, I think this is our new turning point. Nothing could go wrong now."
Alright, I know I'm off my original schedule I had but I got some good feedback which made me more excited to work on this then my other one's. Thank you guys so much for the reviews, they make the stories better because of you guys. Glad to know Tucker x Tuka is appreciated. Also in the case of Church and Rory... who do we call the cops on? Seriously I'm kinda concerned for Church.
Anyway, until next time Churchisalive signing off for now.
