"How long is this going to take?" they had been driving for an hour or so already; as beautiful as the scenery was, she was ready to be at their destination.
"Another two hours." He glanced up from his cell, which he had been engrossed in for the past hour.
She sighed, "Where are we even going?"
"Why don't you continue the story, Rukia?" Totally ignoring her question, his eyes still glued to his phone.
"I guess I could but aren't you afraid you'll fall asleep and whatever the hell you've been focused on won't get done?" Irritation laced her words, feeling frustration at him basically ignoring her for the past hour.
He chuckled setting down his phone, "Are you jealous Rukia?"
She shook her head, "Nope, not in the slightest." In truth she was fuming. Here she was sitting not a few feet from him, skimpily dressed, her assets accentuated and all he was doing was scrolling on his phone.
As much as she hated being teased by him, she did relish the way it felt being touched by him, or the way he looked at her. She frowned, why was it all she could do was think about him, feel his presence everywhere, his unique scent wrapping her in its blanket. Yet it seemed as if he could switch his emotions on and off just like that. "I'm just bored."
"Come here." He patted his lap.
Hesitantly she moved closer until he pull her onto him, "Now you have my undivided attention."
It felt so right there, she wanted to just stay in that warmth forever. "Ok I… I guess I'll continue then."
Nel sat on her porch unsure what to do. Her belongings were packed, and she had already asked Yachiru for a ride to the train station. As much as she loved her home, she would leave it, there was nothing left here for her. Her hopes of a happy ending with the man she loved had been dashed the moment she found out who her betrothed really was. *
She glanced back once to the big house, as it slowly disappeared into the distance. She knew he was watching her, could feel his gaze burning into her as once again she ran away. But why had he led her on like that. At every meeting taking part of her piece by piece, instead of letting her know who he actually was.
She turned to the man seated next to her, his gaze on the open field, he glanced at her suddenly "Do you not love him?"
Nel glanced away from his gaze the question hanging in the air. "Those letters, whose words were they. Tell me the truth Tesra."
Now it was his turn to not meet her gaze. "Believe me Princess, the thoughts and actions of my master are his own. I may have put pen to paper, but I do not have any feelings in that way towards you."
She muddled over what he said, and why had he called her princess? Nel sighed, "If that is so, why had he not written them himself?" She sighed, staring off into the distance, still not being able to get over the way he betrayed her trust.
"Now I'm doubting he even knows the true meaning of love. Did he know the joy I felt receiving one of those letters? How many nights I fell asleep clutching his telegrams; happy that I had met someone that loved me, for me, not for how I looked."
He handed her his handkerchief, his face somber unable to face her and the glisten of tears in her eyes. "My master is not the most proficient with words of the heart or expressing his emotions properly. He is one to show you his feelings than express them verbally."
Nel let out a dry laugh, "As long as that emotion is lust, then I believe you. He is incapable of anything else." She said bitterly, then quieted her face glum no longer wishing to talk.
Her heart ached in her chest, and she felt as if a part of her had withered away. Nnoitra was not in love with her. He wanted her solely for her body. Everything had been a lie and now what was she supposed to do? *
That had been a week ago and she spent the next few days alone with her thoughts. But no matter what she did that morning replayed in her mind, the callous way he had confirmed he wasn't in love with her. The man she thought she had loved was a lie, there was no reason to stay in this town. Although she had met a friend, she couldn't possibly stay any longer. She would be putting herself in danger of seeing him again, knowing that he fooled her so thoroughly.
Even now as she stood staring out over her land, she wished she had never come. Maybe then she could still feel her heart flutter when a new telegraph came or feel the excitement and nervousness of being in love.
"What the fuck is it that I am doing wrong Every Fucking Time?!"
Tesra stood watching as his master tore up his study. He flung books and ledgers and flipped over the sturdy table in the middle. "Maybe you are going about it the wrong way."
Nnoitra turned a sharp eye on him, "Then do tell me Tesra, what is the RIGHT FUCKING WAY?!"
His anger was palpable, yet Tesra stood there solemnly unaffected. "Maybe you should be sincere with her. Instead of thinking with your dick, you tell how you actually feel." He shrugged and effortlessly side-stepped the chair that had been hurled in his direction. "How was it that she was yours before, yet in these hundreds of years you cannot reclaim her?"
Nnoitra gritted his teeth, wanting to kill him, "You think if I remembered we would be in this situation still?"
"You will love one eternally, a desire and fire burning your soul. A thousand lifetimes and more, but that love will never be returned. True love you will never be gifted, only death in exchange for her sweet charms." Tesra recited those words as if in a trance, the curse put upon his master lifetimes ago. "How many times have we done this? Yet you are not learning from any of your previous mistakes." Tesra stared down at the trashed floor, then back at his master, "Maybe another approach might be in order?"
"Fuck off." he growled walking out of the destroyed room, and out into the fresh dawn air. The sun was slowly rising, he mounted his stallion and took off. *
The time slowly ticked by with no sign of Yachiru. Even though the young girl had been sad to hear she was leaving, she had promised to come and give her a ride. After she sold the house, she would send for her to come visit the city. The rising of dust on the beaten path brought her out of her reflections, but her hope quickly faded as his thundering black stallion proceeded through her gates.
Nel hurried inside locking the door behind her. She didn't need this right now. There was nothing he could possibly say to change her mind. She would be leaving and that was it. She peeked through the curtains, frowning as he dismounted and sauntered up her stairs.
"Go away." Nel shouted before he could reach for the doorknob.
"I will not." Nnoitra answered tersely.
She sighed, why did he have to come now? Did he need time to make up some ridiculous excuses? Her thoughts were interrupted as the door swung in. He gazed down at her, then the luggage next to her. "Running away little mouse?"
"Just get out of my house, I don't want to see you." Nel said her ire mounting.
He did just the opposite though closing the door behind him. He glanced around the room, a frown on his lips. His gaze went back to her, the deep scowl on her beautiful face, her red eyes, the tracks of fresh tears. He groaned as he bent scooping her up into his arms.
"Let me go!" she struggled against him, his lanky build beguiling his strength. "Why are you doing this to me? You've already made a fool of me, what more do you want? Can't you just let me be?"
"I will not. You accepted my proposal; we are basically married."
"That's not how it works!" Nel stopped struggling as it was getting her nowhere. "I will not marry you. How did you really expect this to turn out Nnoitra? You've been lying to me this whole time."
"So I lied, get the fuck over it." He grunted in annoyance. Insouciantly he threw her over his shoulder and bounded up the stairs to her bedroom. He dropped her on the bed, removing his waist coat.
Nel pulled herself up scrambling to the far end of the bed, eyeing him. "What…what…are you going to do? Is it not enough to destroy my heart but now my body also?" her voice was soft, an underlying twinge of fear in it. She regarded him, his breath slightly labored anger and something else marred his features. "Please Nnoi…not…not like this."
"Fuck." He cursed staring down at her diminished figure. Why in the world was this sight turning him harder than fucking diamonds? Her soft whimpering sent blood rushing to his cock.
This wasn't what he should be doing right now. He should hold her, comfort her tell… his thoughts were cut off as he cornered her, pinning her to the bed. He licked the track of her tears, listening to her cries as he undressed her.
Nnoitra sat back as the scene played out in front of him. It was as if he was just a spectator; observing as he crudely took her body, possessing her completely. He watched as he took out his frustration and anger on her compliant body.
Briefly remorse filled him as her cries slowly quieted, her voice growing hoarse. But somehow, he could not care about what was happening or what would undeniably come next. In this moment it was her underneath him, her body and his connected.
The years, centuries, lifetimes disappearing in this fleeting moment; it was just the two of them. And for that reason, only did he freely take from her his fill, enjoying her until he was spent. He pulled her quivering body next to him as he let his thoughts melt away. *
Pain radiated throughout her body as she tried to sit up. Nel tried to pull away from the man next to her, but even in sleep his hold was tight. Finally, she gave up lying still her mind heavy. The nights events weighing on her mind. The absolutely callous way he took her, the icy detached gaze he had regarded her with as she had begged him to stop.
Nnoitra suddenly shifted lifting his arms and turning away from her. Nel took this chance to get up and go to the bathroom. She bathed quickly washing away the trails his hands and lips had burned onto her body.
Hastily and as quietly as she could she dressed. His black stallion was still hitched outside, she would take it. She was sure she could get to town and find the sheriff.
Nel rode for what felt like hours, the sky slowly brightening around her. She finally made it to town; her breathing was labored as she made her way into the office.
The older gentleman stopped what he had been fiddling with, glancing at her, "You ok Miss?"
She shook her head, trying to catch her breath, "There's a burglar in my home! He's trying to kill me..." Her voice came out shakily and he immediately stood, grabbing his shotgun, "Where?"
"It's a few miles out of town, the old Tu Odelschwanck place."
Nel stood there watching him as he mounted his steed. Now would be her chance to get to Yachiru's place or to the train station. But she couldn't just leave. In her haste to escape she forgot her travel documents. Nel frowned getting on her horse and following behind the sheriff.
She arrived a few minutes after the sheriff. He stood outside her door his gun drawn. He peered through the window scoping the inside out. He opened the door cautiously entering.
Yachiru and Kenpachi pulled up next to her. "What's going on Nel?" the young girl questioned. She dismounted quickly then helped Nel off of her horse. Only then did she notice the worn look on her features and the slight bruising on her arms. "Nel?"
Nel stood there watching with apprehension as the sheriff disappeared into her home. Only then did she let out the breath she had been holding and the tears that had been bottled up. She sobbed quietly.
Yachiru put her arm around her trying to keep her upright, "Nel what happened? Tell me please…" she tried to be comforting to her friend, not at all liking the ominous silence coming from the house.
"He…He…" she couldn't find her voice. How could she tell her Nnoitra had forced himself on her, painfully taking away a piece of her? She let out a yelp as the sheriff landed roughly a few feet in front of her. She pulled back immediately backing away from the open door.
Nnoitra strolled out, a hellish look on his face. His eye patch was gone, the hollow hole filled with teeth gaped, mirroring the evil grin on his lips. He surveyed the scene in front of him, his gaze finally falling on her. Nel stiffened in fear, her body unable to move.
Yachiru stood between them, but her place was instantly taken by Kenpachi. He cocked his head eyeing Nnoitra warily. "I don't know what's gotten into ya, but maybe you should go home and calm the fuck down." He glanced at Yachiru, "get her out of here. I can handle him."
Nnoitra's smirk did not waiver as he slowly descended the steps. "Come now Princess, there's no need for any more unnecessary deaths today." He glanced at the lifeless body of the sheriff then at her, ignoring the other two.
Nel shook her head, unable to speak. Her throat suddenly felt dry. She needed to run away, he was going to kill her and Yachiru, "Please Nnoi…. Just leave…I can't take this anymore…"
She crumpled to the ground out of exhaustion. Why bother? She couldn't fight him. Yachiru immediately yanked her up dragging her limp body towards the wagon. Hastily she pushed her in and took up the reins. The horses neighed loudly as they rode off as fast as possible.
Nnoitra watched as they disappeared, his gaze finally landing on Kenpachi. "Ya know, this ain't gonna end well Zaraki."
"I've been itching to see just why they called you the 'Demon king'." Kenpachi shrugged off his jacket, in all the years they had been 'friends' he had yet to see Nnoitra truly let go, but the way he stood now, he knew this would be a good fight.
Nnoitra's smirk faltered for a second, his sword materializing in his hand, "I guess we'll just have to see who makes it back to their bitch then." *
They had ridden for hours, Nel in the back quietly sobbing. They headed to the next town over, figuring if Nnoitra won he would look in town for her first. By that time Nel would safely be on a train out of there. They sat now at the station. Nel had dried her tears cleaning herself up as best as she could.
"Don't worry Nel, it should almost be here." She reassured her, praying that the train would pull up on time.
"Come with me! I… he might hurt you." Nel said taking Yachiru's hand in hers, afraid of what could happen to her.
Yachiru smiled at her, "Ken-chan, can handle him don't worry. When you get settled, I promise to come visit ok."
Nel nodded as the train horn blared in the distance. She had no baggage, but Yachiru had managed to grab her purse, while he had been distracted. Yachiru handed her some money and watched as the train pulled in.
She lined up turning once to say goodbye when her face twisted into one of horror. There he stood towering over the young girl a diabolical grin on his face. Blood stained the remnants of his clothes, deep gashes visible across his chest and arms. He looked hurt, yet she knew that he had won, that was the only reason he was there. How could he do that to his friend? The one person she had seen him be 'friendly' to.
"Just stop this! What is wrong with you?" She gasped as he picked up Yachiru, throwing her out of the way, her body hitting the nearby wall. Chaos erupted as people ran away.
There she existed, again immobilized by fear, his eye glazed over blankly. He slowly pulled her up by her shirt, his eye glued to her face, the tears now overwhelming.
"Please Nnoi, don't do this…" she touched his face lightly. He blinked momentarily coming out of the trance then he looked down at her. Nnoitra pulled her into his embrace, kissing her softly.
She let out a cry of surprise as she was impaled. Her body crumbled to the deck. Her life gradually trickling out of her. As her eyes slowly closed the last images were his heaving body standing over her, his blood covered fingers at his lips his tongue licking clean any remnants. ***
"You sure as hell love killing her, don't you?" Ichigo chuckled, "I'm beginning to think that she's never gonna get her happy ending."
Rukia pursed her lips, "I never said this was a fairy tale."
He shrugged, "Where do you come with stuff?"
She glanced out the window, a sudden sadness engulfing her. "I have a wild imagination I guess…" she trailed off as the car suddenly stopped.
A picturesque lake house cabin came into view. The driver opened the door for her, helping her out, Ichigo following in tow. "Wow. Its beautiful."
"Come on let me show you around."
She followed behind him marveling at the beautiful surroundings. It was charming, something you would see in a home and garden magazine. The house held nothing to the balcony view though.
"You know we didn't pick up anything on the way here." Rukia eyed him a bit warily.
"I'll send Hanz just let him know what you need, in the meantime lets get something to eat."
*a little while later***
Rukia sat on the pier staring out at the tranquil lake, the sun was slowly setting on the horizon. Yet she couldn't marvel in it, her mind was focused on him. Ichigo had been correct they had had fun today. He had made them lunch and after they had went swimming in the lake.
"I'll just watch you." She said nervously. She didn't have a swimsuit and because of her bravado earlier she didn't even have a bra so there was no way she would go swimming.
"Just come in, it's not even cold Rukia." He had jumped in and was swimming around like a fish in water.
Rukia waded in; he was right the water was warm. "I'll just stay here. This is more than enough for me…besides I.." her words died as he pulled her down into the water.
"See its pretty nice out here right." He splashed her playfully. She nodded; it actually was. They swam around for a little bit enjoying the warm water and the cool air around them.
Before long he pulled her close to him, "Rukia..." he suddenly kissed her, his lips soft against hers. The warm water making her feel relaxed, she tentatively let him invade her mouth, their tongues dueling for dominance, she pulled back.
"Ichigo?" she questioned, instead of answering he retook her lips in a fierce kiss. Muddling her brain and sending shivers through her. He let her go suddenly disappearing beneath the water's surface. She froze for a second her body feeling lethargic yet on fire at the same time.
"Ichigo you.." she stopped. "Ichigo?" the water around her was still and she scanned her surroundings looking for him. "Ichigo?" her voice rose with panic as she dove in trying to find him underwater.
Moments later she surfaced, her breath ragged as she stared over the still lake. Quiet laughing brought her eyes to the shore, where he stood trying to stifle his giggles.
Rukia blinked making sure it was him before she dragged herself out of the water. Abruptly she slapped him. "What the hell Ichigo! Don't play around like that. I really thought something happened to you. You scared the shit out of me...I …are you even listening to me?"
Only then did she notice where his eyes had been glued the whole time. Her wet tank clung to her small breasts. Her nipples hard against the fabric. She brought her hands up to cover herself. Turning away from him in embarrassment.
"Calm down Ruki, it was just a joke." Ichigo said, mirth evident in his voice. "It was pretty funny watching you though, I'm not gonna lie."
She sighed giving up, and just walked away back to the cabin. Why had she come there with him? He caught up with her pretty easily, "You know you should lighten up a bit Rukia." He stated suddenly picking her up carrying her into the cabin. He went straight to the shower in the master bedroom at the end of the hall.
"Put me down Ichigo. I'm still mad at you." Rukia grumbled, pulling herself out of his arms.
He rolled his eyes, peeling off his wet shirt, his hands going to his trunks. "What are you doing?" she stammered.
She gawked at him completely transfixed by his body. The remnants of water glistening on his chest, the trunks clung to his manhood outlining his cock teasingly.
"I'm gonna take a shower." He replied nonchalantly, pulling at his trunks.
Before he could Rukie ran out slamming the door behind her. She could hear his laughter as she skulked against the door. Her heart beating rapidly. What had she set herself up for? **
The sound of the forest lulled her in as crickets began to chirp in the distance. The air became chilly prompting her to finally decide to head inside. She was forced to wear a robe, until Hanz returned from his shopping trip. Glancing at the clock she had a sneaky suspicion that he wouldn't be returning. It was almost eleven now, there was no way he was still shopping.
Ichigo was sprawled out on the couch in front of a fireplace, his eyes closed. "Enjoy your walk?"
Rukia frowned disregarding his question. "He's not coming back, is he?"
"Hmm?" Ichigo questioned pretending to not know what she was talking about.
"Hanz…it's been hours Ichigo."
"Hell be back, relax Rukia, Im not going to hurt you."
"I didn't say you were; I just don't have any clothes and I am not walking around in this all day."
One gold flecked eye opened to peek up at her, a sexy little smile coming to his face. "You're more than welcome to go bare if you like. Its just us, no one around for miles…"
She shook her head vehemently, "That is not happening Ichigo." She frowned sitting on the couch across from him. "Why did you bring me here?"
He said nothing for a while, silence enveloped the room, only the sound of the wood crackling in the fireplace lingered. "I don't know." He answered honestly. "Originally I was just going to take you to my place but…" he stared at her then, yet it looked as if he was looking right through her.
"I really don't know why, but I'm just drawn to you. It's like we've met before, or you hold a part of me that's been missing…" he sighed sitting up unsure of how to explain it to her.
Rukia stared at him, hopefulness forming in her heart as he said those words, "Ichigo?"
He stood, "Come on, I'm ready for bed." He dismissed her questioning glance and like that the moment was gone.
She followed him to his room and took a seat at the edge of the bed. He patted the spot next to him and she got up hesitantly settling in next to him.
He seemed to be lost in thought again as she looked at him, two steps forward and one step back she thought absently.
"Go ahead Rukia I'm listening."
She nodded pushing her thoughts to the back of her mind~~
