Chapter 16. Changes.

30th April 1986.

Leaky Cauldron,

Entry Gate to Diagon Alley.

Downtown London, UK.

10 AM.

Remus Lupin was surprised at the change in the Leaky, the old pub, which had been under renovation since the change of profile of so many of the ministry's workers. The pub was no longer as dark and dingy as memories of yesteryear. It had been replastered, and painted and a new roof was in place. It looked like an old Spanish home.

Old Tom the innkeeper was still serving behind the bar, but his business associate Marina Quevedo, a Spanish beauty with fierce magic, picked up on all of the flaws before and began her renovation to the place as she enchanted the old innkeeper. Tom was quick to realize the foreign witch was going to be a nightmare, but not falling for her was difficult, as the woman was like a force of nature. He never thought he would find the one, now looking at the mature Spanish Senorita, he knew she had to find him first.

At first, many of his patrons believed Tom had sold the place. But as they watched him, behind the bar, Marina taking over the menu, serving amazing dishes that came from different parts of the world and a variety of desserts and drinks, and a cleaner location and a warmer staff, they all welcomed the change. Plus Marina asked for a stage for music bands to play on Fridays and Saturdays. Tom couldn't believe he or his business would be so big from the changes in just weeks, ever since the ministry began hiring new blood magicals. Praise Merlin for such a good change.

Remus took lodging in the Leaky, now called El Caldero. Making him smile since Cauldron and Caldero were the same thing in English and Spanish. Marina and Tom bid him welcome to their place.

Remus took lodging for five days. He realized Marina was a genius. She had invested in house trunks and placed the door knobs to each door as the rooms now became full cabins and divided the Caldero into a full-service Hotel in the four-star range. No wonder the place was booming with customers, it was also a small boarding house for the new ministry workers.

Remus wondered if there was a security firm available to care for El Caldero, native prejudiced wizards really hated new-blood witches and wizards. It was then that he asked for the newspapers for the last month, to figure out why magical Britain had changed.

Meanwhile.

Amelia received a letter from Sirius, stating that the goblins were discharging him from the healing center and he would use a vanishing cabinet in Gringotts to check the renovated home of Black. She could reach him with Tippy, his home was currently under Fidelius, but Tippy would be welcomed.

Amelia nodded, she understood that Black had no intention of fleeing, he was too invested in the trials of Crouch Sr, Bagnold, and the fate of Crouch Jr. In a way she suspected that Black was in contact with Harry, but until Harry felt ready he would visit her and Miss Bones had to come to terms with the strange fate of Harry Potter.

The trials were days away. Augusta Longbottom and several of the more conservative members of the Wizengamot, realized that there was more happening than missing death eaters.

In the absence of Millicent Bagnold as minister, Amelia, being the most senior of the heads of service in the Ministry, was made an interim minister. She didn't hold back. The first thing she did was place Kingsley Shacklebolt as head Auror and Moody as his second.

Moody smiled and tipped his hat to his former protege Amelia and asked if it was possible to make some sort of magical oath mandatory for all of the old ministry workers, to keep tabs on who was corrupt from those that weren't. Amelia smiled and said that it was a good thing Moody still kept his wits about him, even though he lost half of his body in the service. Moody smiled a crooked smile and decided not to say more than, "Cheeky kids, the lot of them,"
