Chapter 20: Powers of the Sea
The room was in complete darkness. There was nothing that Toby could see at the moment that would easily frighten him. The door did slam quite loudly which did made him jump – or float since he was in the water. The only thing he could do was swim until he stopped the fountain he would need to place his orb in.
Speaking of the orb, Toby wondered if it would give him light somehow. He felt his orb around his arms but he tried to grip it as tightly as he could so it wouldn't slip and get lost in the dark.
Before he gripped it further, the sea orb DID produce a tiny bit of light. That at least made Toby more comfortable now. He could at least see something.
Kicking his legs, Toby carried on swimming through the dark tunnel with only the light from the orb to guide him. Looking around the room, he wished he wasn't in complete darkness but nevertheless was still ok with the light from the orb. He noticed the walls were the same dark aquamarine colour just like the ones back in the Primal Pad. There were no statues carved out this time though, the walls appeared to be blank.
'I guess that's why it's a special place,' wondered Toby in amazement. 'No wonder many Sea Gormiti come here for important reasons.'
It hadn't been too long when Toby finally spotted what he was looking for: the fountain.
Like the statues he saw earlier, the fountain was stuck into the wall and was the same colour as the walls. The base of the fountain was a semi-circular shape and a big hole at the top of it flowed down into the pool like a waterfall. Its crystal reflection sparkled with bright, shining light that came from above.
'Finally!' Toby was at least glad he could see what fountain looked like.
He was about to place his orb in the pool when…
Toby suddenly felt he could not longer breathe.
He had to think of something before he passes out from swimming. There was no way he could swim back to the door just in time. The sea solider was probably guarding the entrance anyway.
'I guess there's only one way to find out…'
With the remaining strength he had, Toby placed his orb in the pool which suddenly glowed. He just had enough time to see the glow before he collapsed.
"My Lord? Are you alright?"
A voice suddenly rang in Toby's head. It was a voice that he recognised. But it defiantly did not sound like his younger brother at all. It was someone else entirely.
"Answer me." It called out again. "Are you ok?"
"Ummm…" Toby answered weakly. "I think so…I- "
He felt his hand clasped over his mouth when he realised his voice had deepened and changed. Could this be?
He decided to open his eyes and fast. They were still stiff due to his collapse but he needed to find out why his voice changed.
And that's when he saw it.
Instead of his normal legs were now a pair of aqua legs with fish fins replacing as feet. 'What?'
There had to be something wrong. He quickly turned around and saw the same sea solider standing there besides him.
"But…how did you-" Toby began.
"It's a bit of a long story," the sea soldier began to explain. "While you passed out, the waters from the fountain transformed you into a Sea Gormiti just like us."
Toby had to blink his eyes for a few seconds. 'I've become a…Sea Gormiti now?'
Sure enough, when he reached out his hand, it was also aqua coloured just like his legs. He wanted to reach them out so that he could touch his to see if he noticed anything different. The only difference that could feel at the moment what the fact he was able to breathe underwater again. That was at least something not to worry about.
"You have shown that your will to find the fountain has impressed us young Lord. I have no doubt in mind you might be our future Lord of Sea very soon." The sea solider had one more surprise for Toby. "And speaking of your will."
He handed Toby his Sea Orb which had now stopped glowing and was still the brightest dark blue
Toby gasped in delight. "Thank you," he replied. 'Nick would be so proud of me for doing this,' he thought smiling to himself.
'Nick!' Toby just suddenly had the thought of his younger brother in danger.
"I need to find my younger brother straight away!" he burst out, not even noticing the tiny little bubbles that came out of his mouth. "Do you where I can find him?"
The sea solider stroked his chin for a second before answering: "If you go back up to the surface then your brother might be waiting."
Toby swan straight up in way that was him standing and bowed to the sea solider. "Thank you for that information and for everything. Till we meet again."
The sea solider bowed back to Toby before the new Lord of Sea swam away towards the surface of the ocean.
Back upon the surface on the ocean, Jessica, Lucas, and Razzle all felt concerned. There had been no word on Toby's and Nick's updates as of yet and soon the mood went over Gorm like a gust of wind.
Jessica in particular was waiting for Toby for a LONG time. Back on Earth, she did have a tiny bit of a crush on him even though they were one year older between them. Seeing Toby not coming back almost broke her heart by a lot.
Lucas was at the edge, looking at the ocean. He was also hopping that Toby might popped out from the ocean to say hello or ask how everyone is. At the same time, he turned his head towards where the Earth Nation was and where Nick was right now. How was his friend doing at the moment? Was Nick stuck in a situation that he couldn't get out of? He should do since Nick was really smart after all.
All of a sudden, Razzle spotted bubbles by the edge of where Lucas was sat. One by one the bubbles began to pop and soon the shadow below it was getting bigger.
Lucas immediately jumped back away from the edge. "That's gotta be an underwater Fire Gormiti!" He started to aim his bark fist towards the shadow.
"Woah! Are you crazy Lucas?" Razzle snapped back in frustration. "Toby might be here!"
Jessica got up from her space and flew over the ocean past the shadow. "Razzle's right!" she cried out, blocking Lucas' way. "Toby's probably coming up from the sea right now! I'm sure of it!"
Jessica was right. Soon a head appeared out from the water almost knocking Jessica who was in the air. From what she could tell, it was definitely a Sea Gormiti but its blond tentacles made it look like…
"TOBY!" Jessica glided herself beside the now transformed Lord of Sea. She wanted to give him a hug but knew she would get her wings wet as a result of it.
Toby found himself smiling back at Jessica warmly. For one thing, he was glad to be up on surface again but also he was relieved to see his friends again especially Jessica who seemed to look more beautiful in her Super Gormiti form now.
Lucas raised his arm down. "Toby?" Like Jessica he wanted to hug him but couldn't. "I'm so glad it's you! How are you feeling?"
"It felt great," Toby grabbed the edge to pull himself up from the waters back onto the ground he was before he dove in. "Although…it does feel kinda weird to become a Gormiti, to be someone different."
"What do you mean?" asked Lucas.
Toby raised his hand over the ocean and saw that part of a little stream began to raise. Smiling, he lifted his arm above his head where the little stream accidently hit Lucas in the face.
"Hey!" yelled out Lucas in shock.
Jessica giggled at Toby's little water play. "Same old Toby, heh?"
Toby too let out a little giggle.
"Anyway!" Razzle interrupted the trio clapping his hands. "All we need to do now is wait on Nick."
"That's why I came back up," Toby explained to the little lizard who seemed small now compered to his sudden growth. "I'm worried he might be in serious trouble."
Jessica placed her hand over her mouth in shock. "We have to go and help him!"
"But how can we get to him when two of us can't fly?" Lucas pointed out in frustration.
A light-bulb clicked in Jessica's brain. "Relax boys," she said with a smiled. "I've got an idea."
