Mission 2: Downfall
"Vergil!?" Dante exclaimed, both in shock and anger, he tried to stand up, but one of the swords floating right above him plunged on his stomach, keeping him pinned on the ground.
"Interesting to think how I lost to you 6 years ago, and now, you are completely helpless Dante, again." Vergil remarked, walking in a circle around his brother.
"What happened to you? You look like an absolute clown!" Dante questioned about Vergil's new look.
"I grew powerful, Dante, while you remained stale, I fought for power, you only fought to keep humans safe, and most of all, Kat and that kid." Vergil said with a dry laugh, seeing Dante's expression as he tried to take off the Mirage Sword on his stomach.
"You... know?" Dante asked angrily.
"Dante, I rule the demons, with that many demons, of course some will be able to tell me about what you are doing, of course I know." Vergil said impatiently as if it was the most obvious thing, one of the swords moved slightly, and pierced through Dante's right arm.
"Raaaaaaghh!" He exclaimed in pain.
"You are going to hell, Dante, kept there forever, but don't say I am not a good king, I might let you see mother some days." Vergil stated.
"Mom...?" Dante asked slowly, in a confused tone.
"Yes, our dear mother is in hell, did you not know? While our father was given permanent exile, Mundus brought Eva to hell as permanent prisoner to be given torture every second of her life, you must miss her... Since I already passed to say hello, you could join, but I apologize brother if the food is not the best down there." A sword now pierces through Dante's left leg.
"And what will you do to Kat? You don't give a damn about her?" Dante asked, struggling against the unbearable pain, worried about his wife... and his son.
"Kat has no meaning for me anymore, she will join you, as for your kid... of course I can't keep him without parents, and if you want to beat your enemy, you shouldn't leave their lineage around ready to overthrow you, right, Dante?" Vergil asked in a knowledgeable tone.
"FUCK OFF!" Dante roared with anger, as the space around began to distort, Dante's clothes turned into a bright red, as spots of that color appeared all over his body, and his white hair glows, he started to move his body, moving his arm through the sword, his stomach and leg, despite how much they bleed, as he began to stand up.
Vergil brought his hand to the sheath on his side, and half a second later, Dante saw how he was sheathing the katana Yamato after bringing it out at incredible speed... it's sheathed, Dante falls to the ground his chest bleeding.
"You are a fool, Dante, there is literally nothing you can do now, I kept you alive for some minutes, for what happened years ago, but now you will die."
The son of Sparda brought the hand again to the sheathe, Dante was in the ground, he was going to die.
A light flashed around the brothers out of nowhere, Vergil looked towards the sky in rage, and slashed the air with Yamato, creating a portal... and to Dante's horror, he picked up Rebellion, which was on the ground from when Dante dropped it, and went through the portal, that was the last thing he saw, as he fell unconscious, having so many big wounds over his whole body.
Dante was going through a colorful tunnel, memories and voices flooding through him, most of all, he heard a woman's voice.
"Dante, you have to live, you must fight back, please, we will help you the most we can." Dante recognized that voice, it was the voice of his mother after all.
"Mom... what can I do?" He asked, as he stands up and looks around, it's bizarre.
He's standing on a big rock platform, around are more platforms like that, like if the whole place was in pieces, the sky was in part red, and in part blue, it's raining, and in the horizon he saw a destroyed mansion... his family's mansion.
"What... happened here?" Dante asked in shock as he looked around.
"My son, you are in hell, your brother has nearly fatally wounded you, but you are not dead, your soul is walking by its frontier, but is close to be truly gone." Eva's voice spoke around Dante.
"That bastard... Can I do anything to go back? Kat, Nero..." Dante spoke, clenching his fist.
"Move with the most possible care, on this distorted version of our home, there is a weapon that could bring you back, you need it, Dante." Her voice said before screaming in pain and fear.
"Mom...?" Dante asked worried.
"My torturer... but don't worry about me, you have to go back, I can endure this, I love you Dante." Eva's voice said before Dante couldn't hear her anymore.
He sighed, and began to walk, he's in hell... and Vergil stole Rebellion, his main weapon, so he really just had his guns, he looks around, and saw in the floor a spiked club like the one that the Lesser Stygians use, probably one dropped it when killed a time ago.
"This will be enough to smash some things." Dante said, swinging at the air a bit.
And so he began the climb, he was glad he's very athletic even lacking his usual tools like the Ophion whip, as he did a big leap and jumped from one platform to another, when he landed, Lesser Stygians came from the ground, wielding clubs just like Dante's
"Bring it on, I can beat you guys even with a stick." He said, as the demons approach.
A Stygian comes to Dante, but he now held the club like if it was a baseball bat, and when the enemy got close enough, Dante swings, smacking the Stygian and throwing it to other ones, and the one Dante originally hit fell off the platform and to the endless void.
Many demons walked closer at once, Dante pulled out his guns and fired several bullets to stun them a second, for then proceed to swing sideways with his bat, and then downwards to hit right in the head as finisher.
The small group of Stygians was soon dead after this, Dante smirked and kept following the path towards the ruins, he saw a doorframe filled with light, and with there not being any other path, he slowly went through it and was quickly moved through a light tunnel to somewhere else, he looked back, and saw he was in the very opposite side of the ruins now, in a big platform filled with dry flowers and trees, like a garden, then a group of Bathos appeared.
"Ha, let's see if I can land home run." The son of Sparda said, as he rolls away of several upcoming bombs this time, and fires a barrage of bullets to one of the small demons, killing it after few seconds, the other Bathos fly around, trying to wait for a good moment, and then one threw a bomb, but Dante bats it right back, making the demon explode.
Then he fires a few bullets on another to keep it in place, and runs to the demon and then jumps, slamming the club onto it and smashing it to the ground, and then he kills the demon after few swings, as for the last two, he charged his guns for some seconds while dodging another blast, and fires a powerful shot that bounced between them, destroying the demons.
Now from the garden, Dante entered a ruined door, and into the destroyed mansion itself, the geography is so weird, as he recognized he was in the destroyed top floor.
"Who had to design hell to be so absurd?" Dante said as he walks further in.
There was a room broken up and segmented in three decently sized platforms, a Poena appeared in the middle one, two Bathos up the one further away, and a Stygian next to Dante.
The demon hunter quickly saw how they expected to deal with him, and ignored the Stygian literally next, and dodged the whips that the Poena attacked with, and then hit back the Bathos bombs, he jumped over the Stygian's slash and smashed the ground and demon below him, then swings him off the platform.
He saw the Poena's arms move again, and he jumps to a side, and tries something else... as he directly throws his club towards the demon, causing significant knockback that made it fall, and the club bounced back to Dante.
"I hope I find this thing soon, whatever it was, that light scared off Vergil... but I have no clue about what was it."
After some walking in this floor... Dante sees a light behind a door, which he recognized... it's Sparda's room.
He opened the door, and saw a sword floating there, pretty typical, but still classy, with a long silver blade that was black by the tip, and a purple and golden handle.
"Is this... my father's sword? Vergil said that I got Rebellion, and he got Yamato, but never mentioned what our father used.
Slowly, Dante brought his hand to the handle... when he touched it, he went through a golden light tunnel of memories, and woke up, seeing himself in a great bed with golden sheets and pillows.
Mission Clear.
Congratulations, you have unlocked Vergil mode, from now, Vergil's and Dante's stories runs parallel and they do their own thing, and you can now see both sides.
