Elma was awoken by the sound of sizzling. Her nose sniffed the air only to be greeted by the smell of eggs. She threw off the sleeping bag and looked to see Arthur had made pancakes, bacon and eggs. He took his seat with his own plate, swirling his fork around the plate as he did so.
"Hey, Em." Arthur said, brushing off his T-shirt as he did so. "I knew you'd want breakfast when we woke up. I just didn't think of how much to make. I used half the box. Well, the other half of the box." Arthur added as he gestured to the cartoon of eggs, a box of pancake mix, and the wrapper of bacon in the trashcan.
Elma was quick to bolt across the room to the food and begin to take a seat. She looked at Arthur who made no effort to stop the water dragon from her feast.
"I'm sorry about how… Weird things were before." Elma said, watching as Arthur blushed and began to look around the room when he did so.
"How are you holding up so far, Em?" Arthur asked as Elma shoved a piece of bacon in her mouth. "Take your time, I made leftovers. I know just how much you enjoy eating. It isn't like us dragons have to worry about the side effects." Arthur said as he turned to his mug of soda.
He always found it funny that he drank a carbonated beverage for the morning, but it wasn't like he loved coffee. It also didn't really make sense considering soda seemed to give him more kick in the morning.
"That was how humans showed affections towards each other, yes?" Elma questioned to which Arthur frowned, nodding a moment later. "Was it wrong for me to do it? I… Kinda got carried away from seeing food on you." Elma stated to which Arthur hummed, causing him to scratch on the back of his neck.
He knew that this was going to be a much more awkward day then he thought. How could you talk about something like a kiss? Something that intimate and personal.
"No." Arthur said, looking off to the side as he did so. "But it's not something friends do, not when you do it… Like that." Arthur said, blushing at the thought as he pondered how best to handle this.
Elma kicked her feet back and forth under the table as she grabbed at the syrup on the counter. She watched as Arthur start to look at her with interest as he thought about his next best move.
"Don't over use it, that stuff is as sticky as tar." Arthur said, sure of how this would come down to it. "I just don't want you to get your mouth stuck together, you'd be like that girl who used something as hair conditioner or something ridiculous like that." Arthur said while he turned and looked around.
Elma sighed and began to eat. She was aware that Arthur was quite unsure of what to say. He picked at his food slowly, stopping only to take little bites of his food as he did so.
"Are you sure you're, ok?" Elma asked to which Arthur nodded. "I do enjoy being around you. Tohru used to constantly see me as a glutton or an idiot and fought against me constantly. I don't understand how she'd end up being here. All she wants to do is bring war and chaos. I end up being seen as a goddess and they wouldn't allow it. She had to burn it all to the ground." Elma put in as Arthur hummed, nodding towards her with interest.
Elma watched as Arthur raised an eyebrow, looking at the water dragon with a look of whimsical mirth that wasn't there before.
"What was it like?" Arthur asked as he pointed towards his friend a moment later. "A goddess, huh? I know humans love to treat dragons like gods. I didn't think they'd actually go that far enough to really try something like that." Arthur added, picking up a piece of pancake and tossing it in his mouth.
He looked at Elma who was quite unsure of what to say. Arthur couldn't blame her; they were thrown off guard when it comes down to it. He was quite curious about what happened next, Arthur was quite hopeful they could work through this. He hummed to himself, pushing the piece of pancake around the paper.
"You, ok?" Arthur questioned which garnered a nod from Elma. "There's more work for me to do currently. I don't know how long I'm going to be here next week." Arthur stated before he sighed.
"You work at this job with Tohru's master?" Elma asked, causing Arthur to raise an eyebrow. "The dragon I kinda flipped out on before?" Elma questioned to which Arthur nodded.
"If you mean the girl with glasses? Yes, I work there." Arthur said while he pushed another piece of pancake. "Hey, Elm? Why do you love food so much? I don't mind buying more food, but it's something that tipped me off you were a dragon… Besides finding you in a lake." Arthur questioned as Elma frowned.
Arthur chuckled towards his girlfriend. This was quite amusing; he wasn't mocking her. He knew for a fact that there was quite some reason for her to consume so much. They were dragons, they ate far more than humans.
"I'm still sorry about that," Elma stated as Arthur hummed. "Do you want me to think differently?" Elma questioned to which Arthur shook his head.
"Elm, it was just something that I wanted to think about a bit." Arthur put in as he plopped a bigger piece of food into his mouth. "You act like you poisoned me, you didn't. You think I'm used to dating? There was plenty of people who don't know a lot about me. I don't know for a fact how many people know I'm a dragon, and I'd like to keep it." Arthur stated, rubbing at his temples.
"And how do you think this will end up going?" Elma stated as Arthur clicked his fingers on the table, unsure of what to say, what to do. "There was plenty of things I can do around the house." Elma added before continuing to eat, shoveling more food into her mouth as he nodded.
Arthur allowed Elma to eat, sitting up and continuing to think about the kiss. He knew for a fact that Elma and him had more to talk about soon. There was going to be a much more awkward talk tomorrow.
He stayed silent for the rest of the morning.
