Mission V3: Assassin.
Vergil stepped into the dark catedral, there was absolute silence, and Angelos did not suddenly appear to strike him down, just calm nothingness, Vergil just walked forward.
By the sides, he saw different frames with art, all of angels, one of an angel with bright golden wings, another with white wings, another with blue wings, and the last with black wings, he reached the tall pulpit and stood there to look around, still nothing, and this spot seemed as good as any other, so the demon king grabbed one of the red and black crystals he was carrying, and started to bring it closer to the ground...
He quickly stood up, he just had a feeling something happened, he quickly moved his head to look, he looked at the different paintings
The angel with black wings was not in the frame.
Vergil suddenly teleported to a side, barely dodging the black dagger that would have pierced his chest, but immediately after that he had to unsheathe Yamato to block a golden dagger that was moving towards him afterwards, and the block pushed back the one that was attacking.
It was the angel with black wings that was standing in the painting, she was wearing all grey, including short grey hair, and her white eyes would be quite unsettling for someone that isn't Vergil.
And of course the ornamented daggers, one made out of gold, and another that looked like it was made with obsidian.
"If I wasn't told about your arrival, I would not expect the demon king paying a visit to this place." The angel said with a dry and emotionless voice.
"I did not come to pray, but maybe you should." Vergil said, a summoned sword hovering right behind the angel, who didn't even look at it.
"Enough I have prayed in my life to be able to stand here right now." She answered.
"Those black wings... you are a Fallen." Vergil plainly pointed out, and mentally smirked when he saw her expression shift just slightly.
"I see you have studied about us, demon king, I am Luna, I have once betrayed the angels for then regret my choice, I will be forgiven if I use my, tactics to defend their home." The grey angel now presented herself.
"You are the angel's assassin." Vergil now said.
"And it will be of great pleasure to cross your name, should be enough to claim pardon."
The summoned sword behind Luna moved, it had started literally inches away from her body, but she did an incredibly fast hand movement and blocked it with the black dagger, then did a jump backwards towards the shadows.
Luna.
Nothing happened for the first few seconds, Vergil looked around, then he heard something above him, and saw a chandelier that was in the ceiling was falling down towards him, and he teleported to dodge just in time.
Luna appeared right behind him, and began to do a succession of slashes with her daggers, Vergil didn't have time to block and just got away, though when he reappeared, the assassin had quickly thrown a throwing knife towards him to not just let him get away, and it did hit Vergil on a side, dealing some damage.
The assassin angel was slightly more competent than Vergil had expected, but he still didn't care much, he fired a red sword to teleport the angel towards him, but the move was blocked, then the angel jumped and disappeared mid air as some black feathers fell, and appeared above Vergil as she did a plunging attack with a dagger, Vergil backstepped and was about to strike back, but Luna did a wide horizontal slash with the dagger that wasn't on the ground, but Vergil had noticed the hand motion and jumped above it, before slamming down with Arbiter, flinging her.
Now that he finally got an opening, Vergil did an upwards jumping attack with Aquila as he threw three shurikens at the same time, reaching and damaging Luna, he did a vertical multi spin attack to hit several times, switched to Yamato to do a point blank dive kick, and then he bounced off the enemy's body right after impact to be right above, he brought out Osiris to extend it and catch the Assassin with the tip and bringing her up towards him, before charging for a second with Eryx and slamming down on Luna and the ground, making a shockwave.
Luna did a backflip and threw a pair of throwing knives at Vergil, who blocked them, then she suddenly disappeared and appeared in another corner from which she threw more knives, now Vergil blocked them right in time and after she attacked, Luna was received by a blue projectile that staggered her a second, Vergil quickly started firing swords to keep her stunned some longer, then 6 swords circled the assassin and touched her at the same time with enough force to send her upwards, and while she's on the air, Vergil charged up Rebellion, and fired a long circular beam with a slash, then other two afterwards that impacted with the airborne angel, who then flapped her wings to get out of the way afterwards and land.
Her obsidian dagger glowed with a dark light, she stabbed the ground with it, and suddenly smoke covered the inside of the cathedral, making Vergil basically unable to see anything, suddenly he felt a quite painful slash on his back, but Luna was not there when he slashes behind, he looked around carefully... and saw a small, subtle gold glow, the other dagger, he followed the glow, and then it quickly rushed towards the Nephilim from a side, but now Vergil did block, Luna made a surprised sound and jumped back deep into the smoke.
Vergil managed to see the glow again after two seconds, but then it suddenly moved above Vergil and landed behind him, so Luna jumped, then she rushed again towards the demon king, and was promptly blocked a second time, and she disappeared, a second later Vergil felt something glowing right above him and teleported backwards, dodging the plunging attack then he slashed with Yamato, finally striking the assassin, which made the smoke disappear.
The slash was strong enough that when he hit the angel that was caught off guard, she was sent against a column, and started to breath heavily, having been wounded a lot.
"No... I... cannot die... now..." She said, catching her breath.
"You are an assassin, you should have thought about the possibility of being killed." Vergil said in a dull tone, stepping forward towards the angel with Rebellion on hand, and stabbed in direction of her chest.
The attack was parried by the two daggers and made him step back, the assassin's weapons were glowing brightly and filled with darkness, and she slowly stands up.
"If I shall die for what I have done, I will take you down as well." She said readying her stance.
First she did three slashes with the dark dagger from afar, sending dark energy slashes towards Vergil, who dodged it, while he was doing that, she was charging energy on the light dagger, and then slashed, but the dagger was now covered in gold energy that extended its size to reach about seven meters, Vergil crouched down with a teleport and then fired a blue sword to appear in front of her right after that attack, to show that he can use two weapons as well, he landed a Twister on Luna, that was sent back from the powerful last spin, she teleported and appeared many feet behind Vergil and fired a barrage of quick small light projectiles, which he blocked, then she appeared in another side and fired dark projectiles, which were slower, hoping the speed change catches Vergil off guard...
He blocked right as Yamato glowed blue, and instantly sent his own blue projectile, that staggered Luna, then he charged Yamato for a second and used a powerful Judgement Cut, then did another one right after, and then managed to do a third, lethal Final Cut just after that.
Luna fell to the ground.
"Curses... I failed, now I will never be able to be forgiven." She muttered, unable to stand up anymore, with her weapons on the ground.
"If their assassin is this weak, then you don't deserve anything." Vergil said, glaring down at her.
Suddenly, a white glow happened on the Fallen's back, as the black wings, now turned white.
"My wings... I've been accepted back." She said, and her stoic face seemed about to smile... but right after, a summoned sword had pierced her chest, she did one gasp for breath, and stopped moving, then a second later disappeared with a light glow.
"Finally that melodrama is over, now what I was about to do..."
Vergil walked towards the pulpit, and with the crystal, made a symbol of some kind, a demonic rune, then he sticks the crystal in middle of the circle and it began to glow.
"If those defenses are the best the angels can offer..." He said as he began to walk out the cathedral.
