Chapter 4 – The fortune-teller
Another school day was over and everyone was heading home for the day. Zenitsu Agatsuma, the disciplinary officer at the academy, was also about to head home, but before that, he wanted to pay somebody a visit.
"Hihihi… I am so lucky that I met that guy!" Zenitsu thought to himself as he left the academy
Some time ago, Zenitsu stumbled upon a fortune-teller in the city. Since that day, he visited him regularly and asked about all different kinds of advice, fortune-telling and horoscopes.
Today, he wanted to ask for his weekly love horoscope.
"There are so many cute girls at the academy… with his help, I will surely find my girl for life!" he thought to himself as he was happily walking
After some walking, he reached the city center and went straight to the fortune-teller. Once he saw him sitting behind his table, he noticed something weird. A man in black was standing in front of his table, looking at him with a menacing expression.
"Uh… scary. Who is that man? Did he get a bad horoscope? Or why does he look so angry?" Zenitsu thought to himself as his smile disappeared
Once Zenitsu got closer, he could hear the two men speak.
"What are you doing?" the man in black asked
"Ah! Kokushibo! Welcome to my fortune-telling table! Do you want me to tell you about your future?" the fortune-teller asked
"No. Why are you doing this?" the man in black asked again
"Ah, you mean fortune-telling! It's my hobby and it makes people happy! And I love making people happy!" the fortune-teller replied
Hearing this short conversation, Zenitsu's smile returned.
"Ah, good! They know each other! I was worried for a second there!" he thought to himself and walked over to the table
"Hello!" Zenitsu said cheerfully, to which both men looked at him
"Ah, Zenitsu! Good to see you again! Here for another advice from your favorite fortune-teller, Doma?" Doma replied and pointed at himself, as he sat behind his table
"Yes!" Zenitsu replied
"That's great! Kokushibo, do you see that? People love coming here!" said Doma and looked at Kokushibo
"…" Kokushibo didn't say anything
"How about you watch us? That way, you will understand why people love me!" Doma offered
"I will do that." Kokushibo replied and watched the two
"Hahaha! That's great! Oh, this is my friend! We know each other for a long time now!" Doma explained as he glanced at Zenitsu and pointed at Kokushibo
"Nice to meet you! Anyway, about my love horoscope for the next week!" Zenitsu smiled at Kokushibo and then looked back at Doma
"Sure!" Doma replied and pulled out a set of cards
He mixed them and then randomly picked out 5 cards. He put them on the table in front of him and smiled as he saw them.
"AH! This is incredible!" he gasped
"WHATWHATWHATWHAT WHAT IS IT! WHAT IS IT!" Zenitsu asked eagerly
Doma looked at him and smiled.
"Boy! The cards told me, that in the upcoming week, you will meet the love of your life!" said Doma
"WWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAH! HELL YEAH!" Zenitsu screamed as he heard that
"But." Doma added, to which Zenitsu stopped screaming and looked at him
"BUT WHAT?" he asked, to which Doma smiled again
"Only if you buy these magic cards that I used just now! They are magical, therefore, they are VERY expensive… but because you come here every week, I make you a special offer. I sell them to you for only 30000 yen (227 USD)!" Doma explained
"What." Kokushibo mumbled as he heard this conversation
"DEAL!" Zenitsu screamed
"What." Kokushibo mumbled again
"Haha! Wonderful! Because of your smart purchase, you will be very happy!" Doma said smiling, as he handed Zenitsu his cards and took his money
"Thank you so much! Love of my life, here I come!" Zenitsu screamed happily as he ran away
After Zenitsu left, Kokushibo was still standing speechless, trying to process the situation that just happened.
"This can't be real…" Kokushibo mumbled, still in disbelief
"See? I make people happy!" said Doma as he leaned back in his chair and counted his well-earned money…
