Everyone in the past and present are the same. All the known characters, but for Fanny Bennet are people who came from elsewhere, helped by someone who wants them lost and dead.
William and Elizabeth are only one set. They merged into one in 1812 after the enemy tried to kill them. They were the first to cross followed Richard and Thomas, and will need to be the first to go back in that order.
Ilsa, is Thomas Bennet's mother. There is only one. They are evolved beings who travel thru gates into the past or present. They cannot go into a future time. They can break into facsimiles, in different times; but if so they must leave an original behind to come back. When the young people left, they left nothing behind; they didn't know. In this story, the past and present are synchronized.
Inga is Elizabeth's mother. In the past, present, and in their world- They figured out they would need that. Her dead husband was Mariah's father.
Thomas' mother in the past married a British Lord.
George, in the present and in their world grew up with William Darcy
Elizabeth, wherever they came from, grew up with Thomas, at Ilsa's home, while her mother went searching for her husband's murderer. She was gone for a few years.
Mariah, wherever they came from, grew up with Elizabeth her half sister, and with Thomas, her cousin.
Inga's sister, married to two males, had twins. One of the husbands had a lover before marrying. The twins, they were George Wickham and William's fathers.
Mrs. Reynolds is one of them from a parallel world.
Fanny Bennet, in the present, had a tragic story.
Pemberley 1812
As they were leaving, Ilsa, Thomas' Bennet's mother received a message. She asked Lizzie for her smartphone and pointed her hand. "Bartlett, Lizzie, please come with me, let me get an imprint of the sisters; handy tool. We will have them; I had not seen them before. We prefer travel to other older times, and stay for a short while. As you know we like live war games." She shrugged her shoulders.
They went up, when Lizzie looked at them, she blinked, remembering the Caroline from the future but much younger, with strange clothes. Both favored orange, "I have seen her, or maybe is someone different, much younger. I guess in a celebration. My aunt, wait is she pregnant? I guess my aunt, she was arguing with a Caroline looking woman. Another woman stood by her, both were arguing with, hmm, with her and someone else wearing a half mask with gems. That is it."
"Yes, my sister is pregnant again, she is lucky. Let me ask her, I will send her the imprints. Do you have any of the future?" Ilsa asked.
"Maybe, we had a couple of group pics." Lizzie searched her phone. She was glad she had many of her photos downloaded. "Here." Lydia, hanging over her shoulder saw the pictures, on skimpy summer clothing and grinned.
"Yup, nearly naked. I like it; Lizzie looks so pretty, hmm." Lydia said, and everyone smiled. Lydia added, "The Bingley sisters might be pretty, but look starved." They all waited to see the pictures.
Ilsa looked at the pictures, at the one at the club. "No, no idea, but maybe they changed much. They could have changed their appearance. Wait." She touched her wrist pointing at the phone and the Bingley.
She waited. Ilsa sent the same message to William's parents.
The Enemy
William's mother said the Bingley might be the daughters of one of the families who wanted a union with her son. The mother had a sister that liked to wear a half mask. Inga's sister had a bitter argument with the mother and daughters, during the families celebration for the future union of William and Elizabeth. They also denied any future unions with George, when they requested him. They had plans for George, not yet disclosed. George's dead parents, their cousins were ones of the called 'The mightiest.'
Those guests called Inga's family nasty names. Saying their parents made sure their daughters marry into the mightiest families, accusing them of manipulating forbidden energies, ignoring the standing of Inga's parents; members of the council and powerful. But the daughters, the ones in question, were too young to come thru the portals, alone that was. Someone would be sent to look for them, to see if they could be the ones passing for the Bingley.
Meanwhile, Inga, Charles and William went to look for Charlotte. As soon as they left the house, William remembered. "I think we arrived by the place where I found Lizzie, long ago. I don't remember after that. The one passing for Charlotte might be trying to use that entrance."
"Good idea, follow me; we came thru there. Leave the horses behind. Did you know everyone senses you now. Whenever you were with Elizabeth, the forces we sent to look, sensed you, maybe the gates did as well. Thanks to Richard for leaving a marker tied to the two of you." Inga pointed her hand. A light came out her bracelet and the air shimmered. The next second they were next to the place where William found Lizzie. Two people, with metallic clothes, stopped them. One raised a face shield.
"Hurst?" William asked. Not Louisa's husband but a cousin.
"Quiet. We are waiting for Lady Kræ; she used this portal and a couple others." He explained. He hugged Charles. "Your parents are anxious; they want you back. Change into battle gear."
"They will have to wait." Charles mumbled.
William heard in his head. "These are my dead husband's brother, and Charles' uncle. He helps in the council, they are Enforcers. We'll hide in the shadows."
The one passing for Charlotte, just appeared, carrying battle weapons. She was taller, multicolor long hair to her waist. Her face was covered with a mask. She approached with stealth, looking everywhere. With a hand sign they spread. Inga changed them into battle gear. The Hurst like gave battle weapons to William and Charles. "Stun her, if you can. Otherwise, kill her."
Longbourn 2022
At the private clinic, Thomas felt profound sadness. They would be gone one day. Human lives were very short, so he would do what was right for Fanny. Even if it hurt.
They waited, and when she woke up she wanted to see her husband. "Thomas, you are my husband." Where her words. He could see the sadness always behind her eyes.
"Tell me, who is the man?" Fanny told him. When he asked if she loved him, she wouldn't answer.
"Think, if he is who you love, go with him. But my daughters stay." He said nothing else and left. Fanny was crying because she loved both men.
He stayed outside with Inga, his eyes were wet. When his daughters went in the room, Inga asked, "Why not allow Fanny to live with both of you. Nobody would be the wiser. Many of us have poly-families. There are less females, and we are not human, and one's pleasure is everyone's. When so, both males are the child's fathers. Your choice."
Thomas stopped to think; it could work. Before meeting Fanny, his friend, one who died in an accident shared girls once in a while.
"But my daughters; what will they think? As soon as you all remember, it will be acceptable." Inga added.
Thomas outlook brightened, "But the military man might not like it. I don't remember his name; I was too upset."
"Use your powers, be persuasive." Inga grinned.
"I have a question, it would seem you are much older than I am. I don't mind, but would you wait for me when I am back? I cannot forget you." He bit his lip.
"It will be an honor. I will wait, but it will be a while. I cannot forget either. I must tell you I often came to you, and made you think it was a dream. We needed Lizzie, but for me was more than that. Unions happen at the equivalent of around 20 of your years. The difference in age won't matter so much, later on. So you know, you all behaved unusually. We usually don't marry humans nor have children. It makes it too messy; but I am sure it was the doing of the awful woman, using forbidden practices, over and over." She smiled.
She reached for his hand and kissed it. "Not sure, but I might love you." Thomas said. She nodded.
Inga looked at her wrist. "I must go, the other gate was identified, near your home. I am going with Reynolds and Charles."
Thomas stopped her, "I remember, Janes's uncle was with her. I saw them kissing. Maybe, he tells her whatever he hears."
"That explains a lot. I know why, his brother rejected him in the union in favor of a cousin. But he loves his niece. She must be blackmailing him, just like she did my husband. I think she used her very young sister, to ruin my husband. It goes back a long way; she wasn't allowed to train with us. We had separate tutors, and only a few were allowed. She has harbored resentment for long, and has caused a lot of pain and sorrow. I want her to pay." She left Thomas Bennet who saw Whitman, Fanny's old lover coming to talk to him. He had a proposal for him.
When Inga arrived at Longbourn, Charles and Richard were ready. "We have the coordinates, let's go."
The gate was within walking distance, by a small stream. Two others waited for them, dressed as the ones in Pemberley. "There are searches to see where she hid herself before coming. It has to be near the gates she crossed. Her lover's bodies died, and their memories erased. She planned this for long. Her parents want her caught and judged because they have found evidence she used her young sister, and maybe killed her to take the child. Aim to stop her. All gates are being watched. Here, wear head and chest gear." They pointed their wrist and Charles, Richard, and Inga were now battle ready.
Richard disliked Charles more and more. He remembered trying to duel with Charles during training. Charles hadn't mind the warnings, and he found him kissing Jane. He wanted to hurt him, but Charles' parents heard about it and took him away. Jane was mad at him and his brother, telling them she would decide, not her parents.
Richard whispered, "I remember, and I will say it again, stay away from Jane. She is mine, don't forget. You are no match for me or my brother."
Charles answered, "I haven't forgotten." He smiled, boiling inside. He would think what to do; they had many years; he would learn to fight better. Now he wanted to see how she looked this time around. "We are here to help not to argue."
Inga heard and bit her lip not to smile. It was an ongoing joke. Charles was like his father, females loved him. There were bets that Charles would win. His father was in an union with one wanted by many. The other in the union was Richard's uncle. Yes, they were all related.
Pemberley 1812
Inga wanted to kill the instructor, but they could use to learn more. Once they made theirselves known, the instructor might kill one. Maybe William, that was a bad idea, bringing him.
"William, do nothing, stay on the shadows. If she kills this body, we lose all we gained. This is the first time we are so near. I think because our enemy didn't know Lizzie was my daughter here as well; Please obey, you and your cousins don't like to mind. Look at your father, pretending to be a god, after we are told never to do so." William heard inside his head. For once, he would mind, but he wouldn't let her escape.
The one who was now Charlotte Collins nee Lucas, advanced moving around pointing her weapons. She was one a top fighter, but didn't have the abilities of any of them. William knew how to communicate with his mind, it was back. "A energy net to freeze, we all work together at the same time."
The Enforcers nodded, "Good idea, be ready, but let's get closer. She doesn't have a shield, too much energy she will need. I will say when."
They could hear the strange music and the voices coming from the cave. They were the voices of the sentient gates. They couldn't intervene; they just were observing, and speaking . The closer to the cave a fog started to obscure everything.
Charlotte hesitated, stepping over a rock, she lost her balance for an instant, "Now," they heard command, but Charlotte also heard. William who stayed behind saw her pointing her weapons. It would hit one of the Enforcers. The net didn't close fast enough, but William whose weapon was idle, pointed it and blew the hand holding the weapon, saving the Enforcer. They had no time to prepare, and he would have died.
The net enclosed Charlotte, screaming, blood flying. But the net stopped her life functions, hence the blood flow.
"Thank you," he told William; I owe you a life. You are already a great warrior, just like your father, the Viking god, " he grinned, and Inga laughed. "Let's take care her; she won't die. But if this body leaves, her hand will be gone in the real body when we arrive. Just punishment. As you know damages to our permanent body require powers she lacks. Come back soon."
With those words they picked up the frozen Charlotte, went into the shimmering cave, and were gone.
"Good reaction time, I welcome you as my son. My husband was right, he was your father's best friend. My other husband and your mother's other husband died in a battle. We fight what you would call demons. They are real, and try to conquer other worlds. Unfortunately, we must fight with our real bodies. In our energy form we can do a lot, but unable to use the needed weapons. We can live for thousands of your years, unless we are killed." Inga hugged him. "The Viking god name, is a name used by your father's friends. Yes, he likes to pretend he is a Viking god when we visit those times, and often gets in trouble. But we cannot move thru time where we come from."
Charles patted him, "You and your cousins are the best; but I am going to dedicate myself to be a better warrior."
Inga teased him, "I see, readying for a duel?"
Charles shrugged his shoulders, "Why not, she is worth trying."
"Best not to do it so soon. Not until you are readier; your parents have worried enough." Inga grinned.
William didn't know what they were talking about, but he would remember.
"Let's get back. Maybe we will find out more. Follow me." They were back at Pemberley after going thru fog.
They found a surprise, a couple, and a male accompanying them. They dressed in tunics and were barefooted. The female wearing an orange garment, looked a little like Caroline. "Sorry, we thought our daughters were away with a friend. Today, Enforcers came to ask where they were, and they are nowhere to be found. It is my fault for insisting on Vilhelm or his cousin. Lady Kræ teaches them, and who knows what she told them. We asked to be allowed to see if is them."
They went up to the room. The female started crying; her husband looked angry. "It is them, but we cannot take them back. Whoever brought them here has to take them back. We don't know where or if they left a part of them back. Keep them, until we see what can be done. I hope Lady Kræ is punished. I waited for a long time for my daughters; my husband blames me. What is she thinking? They are so young, in human years maybe 14."
After they left, everyone praised Lizzie for remembering. The Bingley sisters in Longbourn, would also have to wait. They felt sorry for the parents. The one who was Charlotte would be punished for angering and worrying so many parents. She would argue she didn't force their children, and maybe, she would get away with it.
Longbourn 2022
The Charlotte from the present was injured. Unfortunately, her human body needed attention. Time she didn't have, the time needed to heal would take hours, maybe days, and would use the energy she needed to escape. She was unable to contact the sisters, she was alone. Communications had ceased with her world, and also here, meaning she was alone, and someone stopped her in the past. But who was the one who helped? It didn't matter, damn them. Though she was certain the ones who said they were the Hurst were there to watch over them, who knew.
The ones waiting for her saw her appearing. She was walking funny, and her arm was on a sling. The bullet had entered on her shoulder. So she only carried one weapon. Inga had already heard how they trapped the other Charlotte. This time went fast. They were ready, only a hand sign. The net descended over her. She was frozen, the air shimmered and they heard the voices, "Back, back, back, bad, bad." The body was carried thru the portal, and the Enforcers disappeared with her.
Inga, Charles and Richard dressed normally. The latter followed Inga and were back at Longbourn. Richard was unhappy, knowing Charles would stay, and now he would see Jane.
Pemberley
Thomas' mother was happy. "Hopefully they can make her talk."
Inga agreed, "They need to find her body. Not that she can do much. She lost a hand. Hopefully she is gone for good. But, who knows; she must be part demon."
They all hoped it would soon be over. Lizzie ran to William who hugged her, "Let's go to rest. What a day."
They said they were going to rest, and ran into their room with Biscuit behind them. As soon as they were behind doors, William held her to kiss her, they fell on the bed kissing. William heard the words he had been longing to hear. "I love you."
Maybe all would be well, but first they needed to find a couple in a place far away.
A/n a short closure chapter will follow.
