(This story takes place a couple days after Lord Voldemort returns. Between Harry Potter 4 and 5).
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Neverland
"I will not give up Peter Pan until you give me Harry Potter!" Declared Lord Voldemort, staring coldly at Captain Hook.
"I've got Harry Potter in the next room over!" Hook proclaimed. "Smee, would you mind fetching the young scoundrel for us?"
"Yes, Cap'n Hook. Right away, Cap'n." Smee sniveled, shuffling off to get the boy.
"Today, Smee! Today would be nice!" Hook bellowed, asking Smee to hurry along.
"Smee, Smee, what about me?" Smee muttered under his breath.
"What was that, Smee? Did you say something?"
"Nothing, Cap'n, just talking to the boy!"
Smee then brought the boy into the room with Hook and Voldemort. The boy, bound by shackles, hobbled out penguin-like alongside Mr. Smee.
"There you have him, Harry Pimple Poppin' Potter." Hook bragged, curling his mustache with the tip of his hook. "Now… Where is Pan?"
"THAT'S NOT HARRY POTTER, YOU IDIOT MUGGLES! THAT IS HIS BEST FRIEND, THE WEASLEY BOY!"
"Smee? Can this be? Could you have grabbed the wrong scoundrel?" Hook asked, looking very angry. "Weren't you wearing your glasses?"
"He… He… He was…" Smee stuttered, checking for his glasses, realizing they were no longer on his face.
"Today, Smee! TODAY!"
"He… He was in the room that Mr. Lord… Baltimore said he would be in." Mr. Smee replied with a frightened half-smirk.
"They share a dormitory, cretin! AND- my name is Lord Voldemort, not Baltimore! Our DEAL is off! No Potter, No Pan!"
"You said this scoundrel standing before us is his best friend, surely that is worth the trade." Hook bargained.
"NOOO POTTER! NOOO PAN!" Voldemort hissed, flourishing his wand in anger. And then- POOF! He vanished in a dark, fog-like smoke.
"Smee, you better fetch me that Potter boy or you'll be in hot water…boiling hot water…"
Pant Pant… Harry Potter caught his breath as he woke up from what felt like a terrible nightmare, the scar on his forehead burning.
"What is it?" Dean asked from the next bed over. "Are you okay, Harry?"
"I had a terrible dream. Ron was kidnapped by an evil pirate with a hook for a hand."
"Well, it was just a nightmare because Ron is sleeping right over ther-'' Dean paused. "Ron?" Dean was stunned to see that Ron was no longer in his bed. "He's gone!"
Harry and Dean roused their other roommate. "Have you seen Ron?" Harry asked Seamus.
"Check the loo! You know he has a weak bladder!" Seamus grumbled, rolling back over in his bed, hoping to get back to sleep.
"He's not in the lavatory!" Dean blurted. "He isn't anywhere to be found. Should we alert Dumbledore?"
"Afraid so, especially if my dream was true!" Harry answered.
For the remainder of the night, everyone was searching for Ron, but he was nowhere to be found.
Harry told Dumbledore about Voldemort's possible involvement. He also told him about the other parts of his dream which involved a pirate who had a hook for a hand. Dumbledore said he could find no trace of magical use, so Voldemort's involvement seemed unlikely to him. And when hearing about a pirate with a hook for a hand, Dumbledore concluded that Harry's dream was exactly that… just a dream.
Eventually, everyone was told to go back to bed and they would have to continue the search in the morning.
Harry couldn't sleep knowing his best friend was missing, in possible danger, and he could be to blame. He stayed up, scouring the dormitory for clues. Finally, he found a pair of bifocals underneath Ron's bed. As Ron didn't wear glasses and they did not appear to show anything other than a blurry dorm when looking through them, he knew they weren't Ron's because Ron would only wear Amazing Xavier's X-ray goggles, the most magical goggles in all the land.
"These must belong to whoever came in and took Ron."
Just then, there was a knock on the door. When Harry opened it, outside of the door stood Ms. Wendy Darling, a 67 year old woman, and a teacher at Hogwarts.
"Can I help you?" Harry asked, knowing who she was, but never having her as a teacher.
"I'm sorry to bother you, but I am so thankful that you are still awake." She nervously replied. "I couldn't help but overhear the story you told the Headmaster about the dream you had. Is it true? You mentioned Ron might have been kidnapped by Voldemort and some sort of pirates?"
"Yes. It is very much true. Plus, I found these glasses under Ron's bed and I know they aren't his. And" he added, somewhat reluctantly, "there was a pirate with a menacing hook for a hand."
Ms. Darling studied the glasses. "Oh my!" She gasped.
"What? What is it?" Harry demanded to know.
"Those glasses belong to a pirate by the name of Mr. Smee."
"Smee!?"
"Yes! Mr. Smee is Captain Hook's first mate!"
"Captain Hook?" Harry blurted. "Are you suggesting that Ron was kidnapped by a literary character and was then whisked off to Neverland?" He retorted, shaking his head in disbelief.
"I'm afraid so… and… if Ron is in trouble… Peter could also be in trouble as well."
"Peter? As in Peter Pan?" Harry mocked, nearly wanting to shut the door in Ms. Darling's face. "I'd say, that's enough."
Ms. Darling put her hand out, hoping Harry would allow her a little bit more time to explain herself. "I know it doesn't seem real, but I most certainly assure you that Neverland is indeed an actual place. I know it is… because I've been there before."
Over the next few minutes, Ms. Darling told Harry all about her magical journey to Neverland where she met Peter Pan and the Lost Boys. She told him about how she was an older teenager, about 17 years old when she first went there, and how Peter Pan wanted her to stay because he and the Lost Boys looked up to her as a mother figure, but she had to leave because she wanted to grow up and live a normal life.
"My God… Has it already been 40 years?" Ms. Darling muttered.
"If what you are saying is true, then how do we travel to this magical place called Neverland, so that we can save Ron?" Harry anxiously wanted to know.
"I have a lovely lady friend that I can call upon. She will show you the way there." Ms. Darling replied.
"How do we find her?"
Ms. Darling took a step back. She then reached into her pocket, pulled out a handful of glittery pixie dust, and tossed it in the air.
"When I am frightened or wary
I remember this spell.
And call upon the most magical fairy…
Tinker Bell."
As the pixie dust fluttered from the ceiling towards the floor, a tiny light could be seen glowing brighter and brighter from within it. Then, the pixie dust began swirling all around like a tornado, causing glitter to stick to everyone and everything in the place, until finally, a tiny, flying woman with wings appeared from out of the light. She then began buzzing around the room like a firefly, trying to figure out her surroundings. Finally, she came to a stop, hovering in mid-air, just a few feet away from Harry and Ms. Darling.
"Which one of you summoned me?" She demanded to know, buzzing past Harry's and Ms. Darling's face, causing them to duck.
"It was me." Ms. Darling spoke up. "I summoned you."
"How did you know what to say in order to get me here?" Tinker Bell huffed. "Nobody, other than Peter and the Lost Boys know how to summon me."
"Because… it is me, Tink… I'm Wendy."
"Ha ha ha! You wish! Wendy is beautiful and young! You are as old as time itself!" Tinker Bell laughed.
Ms. Darling put her head down and sighed. "It is true. I have gotten older, but I've never forgotten about you, Peter, or the Lost Boys. I just wanted to live a regular life."
Tinker Bell flew closer to Ms. Darling and studied her facial features. "Wendy? Wendy Darling? Is that actually you?"
"I know I'm not how you remember me, but it is me. After I left Neverland, I grew up and became a teacher here at Hogwarts."
"Hogwarts!? Why would someone name a school…Hogwarts?" Tinker Bell blurted.
"I'm sorry to break up such a lovely reunion, but…are you planning on telling the tooth fairy here about what happened to Ron?" Harry piped up.
"Tooth Fairy!?" Tinker Bell exclaimed, buzzing past Harry's face. "The Tooth Fairy wishes she was me!" She declared, zapping at Harry with her wand, causing little bits of electricity to shock Harry's arm. "I am way prettier and much more powerful than her!"
"Ouch! Ouch! Okay, Okay!" Harry pleaded. "I won't compare you to the Tooth Fairy anymore!"
"Darn tootin' you won't!" Tinker Bell reiterated, poking Harry in the nose one last time with her wand. "Now, I have to go! I have urgent business to tend to in Neverland!"
"Wait!" Ms. Darling blurted, hoping to stop Tinkerbell from disappearing into thin air. "If Peter Pan is the urgent business that you're speaking of, then Harry knows what is going on with him!"
Tinker Bell paused. "He couldn't know!"
"It's true! I saw it in my dreams… or perhaps my nightmares." Harry proclaimed. "I saw my best friend Ron Weasley being held captive by a pirate who had a hook for a hand."
"And what about Peter?" Tinker Bell inquired, getting right up into Harry's face.
"I didn't see him, but I felt Lord Voldemort's presence. I believe he might have had something to do with Peter."
"What happened in Neverland?" Ms. Darling asked Tinker Bell.
"It was horrible!" Tinker Bell cried. "An evil wizard, so powerful, I had never seen anything like him before, came and started destroying everything in sight. The Lost Boys tried fighting him off for as long as they could, but Peter eventually surrendered to him because he didn't want anyone else to get hurt."
"Voldemort!" Harry exclaimed, gritting his teeth. "I knew that bugger had something to do with all of this!
"Wait a second!" Tinkerbell insisted. "Wendy said your name is Harry? As in… Harry Potter?"
"Yes. That is correct."
"You are the reason the evil wizard came to Neverland!" Tinker Bell proclaimed. "He made a deal with Captain Hook that if Hook kidnapped you, he would give him Peter."
"Well, he didn't kidnap me. Instead, he kidnapped my best friend Ron. Now you have to take me to Neverland so that I can get him back!" Harry demanded.
"I can't just take a strange new boy back to Neverland. The Lost Boys are very tribal. They would never let you get within a mile of their hideout… Especially if they knew you were the reason for why Peter Pan had been kidnapped."
"I have an idea!" Ms. Darling spoke up. "You can take my granddaughter Moira with you. She is a second year student here at Hogwarts. The Lost Boys will recognize her because she is the spitting image of me. They will accept Harry after that… I know it."
"Hmm…it might work." Tinker Bell replied, though, still worried because the Lost Boys could be quite territorial.
"Then, it's settled!" Harry declared. "Let's get Ms. Darling's granddaughter Moira, and then high-tail it to Neverland!"
Moments later, as Wendy, Harry, and Tinker Bell were trying to sneak into Moira's dormitory, they were suddenly startled when someone loudly whispered, "Hey. What are you guys doing here?"
When Harry turned around, he realized it was another one of his best friends, Hermione.
"We have to get Ms. Darling's granddaughter." Harry replied.
"Why? Did you guys find out what happened to Ron?" Hermione eagerly wanted to know.
"We… kinda…found out what might have happened to him." Harry replied. "But it's also kinda hard to explain."
Hermione began gesticulating wildly, wanting Harry to continue with his story.
"Well… we have to get Moira Darling, so that Tinker Bell can whisk us away to Neverland… so that we can save Ron from an evil pirate who has a menacing hook for a hand."
Hermione stood there looking confused for a second. "Why didn't you just say so!" She exclaimed. "I'm coming with you!"
"It could be dangerous." Harry warned.
"Ron is my best friend. I'm going with you!" She persisted.
Harry looked at Tinker Bell in hopes of getting a resolve. "Well? Can she come along with us?"
"Sure… Why not!" Tinker Bell bellowed. "This just keeps getting better and better!"
To be continued...
