Chapter 4: Escape From Neverland

Shortly after leaving Swashbuckler's Bay… Harry wasn't quite sure how he was going to find Lord Voldemort or figure out how he was going to get everyone back to Hogwarts. Mr. Smee said something about the Dark Lord traveling to another magical place called The Land of Oz, but Tinker Bell didn't even have enough magic left in her to get them there, let alone Hogwarts, so there was no way for any of them to be able to leave Neverland. They all decided to try and get some sleep, hoping that when they woke up, they could be of fresher and more sounder minds.

Harry sat resting his back against the trunk of a dying tree because he couldn't sleep. He was always trying to figure out a way to save the day…if he could, but nothing was coming to mind.

Tinker Bell approached Harry because she had something very important to tell him. "Harry, come with me." she instructed. "I need to show you something."

Harry got up from off the tree and caught up to Tinker Bell. "What is it, Tink? Did you figure out a way to get us out of here?" he asked, hoping for any sort of good news.

"Maybe." She replied, continuing to have Harry follow her into a deep cave.

Finally, she stopped after traveling as far as the cave would allow. She then bent down and began removing several rocks away from a specific location.

"What's going on? What are you doing?" Harry eagerly wanted to know.

Tinker Bell then pulled out a dimly glowing gem-like pebble, though it looked bigger than a bowling ball in her tiny hands. "This is all that is left of the Light Stone. Its magic will soon be gone, and everything it has created shall start to wither away. Especially if the dark wizard manages to continue draining the other magical worlds."

"There has to be a way we can stop him!" Harry declared, his voice echoing off of the walls.

"There is a way, but it will come with a huge sacrifice." Tinker Bell warned.

"What is it? I'll do anything!" Harry declared.

"It's not what you have to do, Harry… It's what I have to do."

"What do you mean?"

"You see… I harness the essence of the Light Stone within me. I can give the Light Stone enough spark to get you guys back to your planet, but like I said before, it will come at a great cost."

Harry's face frowned, fearing what she was about to say next.

"I will have to die in order to recharge the Light Stone." She sadly informed him.

"No! There has to be another way!" Harry exclaimed, his echo bouncing off the walls once again.

"It is the only way. After the Light Stone absorbs my energy, I will give you a kiss, passing my fairy abilities onto you, though limited, hopefully you should still be able to travel to other worlds. At that point, you can choose to do with that ability as you wish. The dark wizard has gained too much power to try and stop him now, if I were you, I would go back home and say my goodbye's to everyone that you love, knowing that all life will be ending soon."

"Please, Tink, there has to be another way. I won't let you do this."

"It's too late. I have already begun transferring my energy back into the stone." Tinker Bell proclaimed, the magical rock beginning to glow brighter and brighter in her hands… until finally, she fell over from its weight, completely drained of her powers.

Harry quickly dove towards the ground, catching her in one hand, and the Light stone in the other.

"Tink? Tink are you okay? Answer me!" he pleaded.

With Harry being so close to her, Tinker Bell used the last bit of strength she had to reach up and kiss Harry on his lips, causing her magic fairy capabilities to enter his body.

In one last breath, she whispered, "Curly was right… I do have a crush on you." she admitted, just before closing her eyes and dying right in the palm of Harry's hand.

Sniff… Sniff… Sob... Harry began to cry. His tears were glowing as they ran down from his eyes and onto his cheeks. He then laid Tinker Bell's body down in the circle of rocks where she had dug out the Light Stone and then gently covered her up.

When he emerged from out of the cave, he told the others of what Tinker Bell had just done. Everyone began crying because Tinker Bell was such a loving and helpful fairy.`

"Tinker Bell said she gave me the ability to allow us all to go home and say goodbye to our loved ones… but… we aren't going home… We are going to The Land of Oz… and we are going to rescue Peter Pan… AND THEN… WE ARE GOING TO STOP VOLDEMORT! Tink's death WILL NOT be in vain!"

Tootles stepped up. "Take me with you! I've got a bone to pick with that evil wizard!

Then, Curly stepped forward. "Me too!"

Then, Slightly. "Me three!"

Then, Nibs. "Me four!"

Then, the Twins. "Us five… and six!"

Harry lowered his head. "I'm not sure if I'll even have enough power to take us all." he frowned. "I may barely have just enough energy to bring Hermione and Moira along with me."

"Well, you better figure it out because we are going with you!" Tootles piped up.

"Does anybody know the spell I need to chant in order to get us to The Land of Oz?" Harry asked.

Everyone started looking around at each other, but nobody seemed to have a clue.

Just then, Moira spoke up. "My grandmother used to tell me that Peter Pan would talk to the birds for advice whenever Tinker Bell was nowhere to be found."

"The birds?" Harry asked. "How exactly do you talk to a bird?"

"I don't know… Tweet, Tweet… I guess." Moira shrugged.

"Didn't you say Tinker Bell gave you her fairy powers?" Hermione asked. "Maybe, if we can find these 'birds' Moira is talking about, you will be able to communicate with them somehow." she tried suggesting.

"Hm… Perhaps." Harry muttered. "But- where can I find these birds?"

"They have their own island." Curly informed. "They are the ones that taught Peter how to fly."

"How do we get to the island?"

"I don't know. It's really far out at sea. Peter used to fly to the island. I suppose that's what you will have to do."

"I can't fly." Harry retorted. "I have limited fairy capabilities. Tinker Bell seemed to think I would barely have enough magic to get back home."

"Then… I guess you will have to use a boat." Curly suggested.

"What boat?"

"The Jolly Roger." Hermione piped up.

Harry and the gang traveled back to Swashbuckler's Bay).

"Harry, MY BOY! What brings you back here so soon?" Captain Hook asked exuberantly, though, his facial expression looked more worrisome than the joy his vocal cords attempted to portray.

"We need your ship." Harry bluntly stated.

"Muh…Muh…Muh Ship?" Hook retorted, the joy in his voice completely gone. "My precious ship?... My last bit of comfort… No offense, Smee."

"Did I stutter?" Harry snapped back. "It's very important. I need to figure out how to get to the Land of Oz, and the Birds on Bird Island are the only ones that might be able to help us. If I don't make it to Oz, everything in the whole universe will soon be destroyed…including your PRECIOUS SHIP!"

"Trying to go to Bird Island is useless. No ship has ever come within five miles of that place. AND- even if you did make it to the island without getting pecked to death first, you would still need to face THE NEVER BIRD… and I guarantee he is a much bigger bird than the one I could give you after they destroy muh ship!" Hook exclaimed, informing Harry of the dangers.

"Tinker Bell is DEAD!" Tootles projected.

Captain Hook bowed his head. "I see." He said with a sad, soft tone.

After a couple seconds of complete silence, "Smee! Hoist the mainsail! We're heading out to sea, Smee!" Hook demanded.

Mr. Smee just stood there in a daze.

"I SAID! WE ARE HEADING OUT TO SEA, SMEE… SEE SMEE!" Hook spoke loudly, waving his hook in front of Mr. Smee's face.

Mr. Smee snapped out of it. "Smee… at sea?... Me?" he blurted, still acting a bit dumbfounded. "Are you sure this rickety old ship can handle it, Cap'n?"

Captain Hook pulled a sword from out of its holder and pointed it directly at Mr. Smee's throat. "Don't you ever bad-mouth The Jolly Roger ever again!" He bellowed, his face showing the biggest scowl a pirate could possibly make.

"Y-Y-Yes, Cap'n. N-Never again, Cap'n…." Mr. Smee fumbled his words while shaking in his boots. "I-I-I'll go hoist the mainsail now." he said while scurrying off.

After hoisting the mainsail, Mr. Smee ordered several pirates to go below deck and begin managing the oars. He then untied the rope that was keeping The Jolly Roger attached to the mainland and directed his men to start rowing.

"Heave… Ho!... Heave… Ho!" they began shouting in unison, moving their arms back and forth with all the strength they could muster up.

Soon, creaking noises could be heard as the boat shifted due to it sitting in the same spot for so long. Even with Captain Hook's aggressive speech about The Jolly Roger, he could barely keep a confident glare as the boat continued to moan.

"Heave… Ho!…. Heave… Ho!" the chanting continued as the ship slowly departed and drifted off to sea.

"OOH-RAH!" Captain Hook cheered. "I told you she could do it!"

Minutes later, the ship was sailing beyond the horizon, leaving the darkened, withering dry land behind.

Mr. Smee had climbed up to the look-out post and pulled out his spy-glass. "The island is less than five miles ahead!" He informed the crew.

Suddenly, from out of nowhere, several birds began attacking Mr. Smee, and then soon attacking anyone else who was on the main deck. It seemed like there were thousands of them, pecking at the crew from all directions.

Captain Hook tried knocking them away with his hook hand, but the birds grabbed hold of it and began trying to lift him in the air.

Hook played tug-o-war with the squawking raven, holding on with all his might, until finally-

SNAP! His hook broke off, revealing his nub, the shift in his momentum causing him to fall flat on his back.

Hermione tried shielding Hook from the attack. "Harry! Do something!" she pleaded, trying to keep her face covered.

Harry then remembered the Mermaids and what they told him about giving him their powers. "STOP THE BOAT!" He shouted, causing the men to start rowing in the opposite direction. "I will swim the rest of the way!" He declared, diving into the cold waters like an Olympic swimmer going for gold.

The birds stopped attacking as soon as the ship started to change course, however, they did continue hovering around in the air for a little while, making sure the ship didn't try turning back around.

Harry was amazed at his new ability to swim, slicing through the water like a sailfish, and traveling at nearly seventy miles per hour. In fact, he made it to the shores of Bird Island within five minutes.

Upon poking his head up from out of the water, Harry looked around for any black birds that might want to attack, but he hadn't seen any thus far.

He decided to make his way onto the sand in hopes of figuring out what to do next. He wasn't even too sure of what he was doing there in the first place. He just knew Peter Pan would apparently come to the island to seek advice from the birds, though he wasn't quite sure how that could even be possible.

After walking several more feet, he came to a wooded area filled with colorful palm trees of purple, red, orange, and blue.

"HELLO?" He yelled.

Suddenly- several birds came flying from out of the trees and started trying to attack Harry, causing him to drop to his knees and protect his head.

"Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!" He cried, the beaks pecking at his arms and back area.

"THAT's ENOUGH!" A voice yelled out from high up in the trees, causing the birds to stop pecking and fly away.

When Harry looked up, nobody was there. "HELLO!? WHO IS UP THERE!?"

"IT IS I, THE NEVER BIRD!" The voice replied.

"ARE YOU PART HUMAN!? WHERE ARE YOU!? He asked, looking up high into the trees. "I CAN'T SEE YOU!"

Just then, while still looking up, Harry saw two HUGE wings expand out. The wings must have stretched nearly thirty feet wide.

"Oh boy!" Harry blurted, never witnessing anything quite like that before.

Then, the Never Bird flapped his giant wings and flew from out of the tree. At first it flew up into the sky, but then it turned downward and began doing a swan dive directly at Harry.

Harry tried covering his head, when suddenly, he felt himself being snatched up by his shoulders and lifted into the air.

The Never Bird carried Harry all the way back up to his giant nest and placed him down inside.

Harry continued covering his head, not sure of what to expect next.

"You may uncover your head now. I'm not going to harm you." The Never Bird stated.

Harry slowly uncovered his head and looked around. He found himself in a gigantic nest. This nest wasn't made up of straw and other grass-like items, this one was woven together with small trees and large vines. A proper home for such a large bird.

Harry then looked at the Never Bird. His shape almost looked like a stork, but he was not the same color as a stork, he was made up of the same orange, red, purple, and blue that the palm trees were made up of. Plus, his face wasn't as menacing as Harry once feared he would look like. Instead, the Never Bird had a pleasantly happy face, one you would expect to see in a Disney film.

The Never Bird leaned over to get a better look at Harry. "Harry Potter…." he said, then paused for a moment, causing Harry to be uncertain of what would be said next. "...it is an HONOR to finally meet you!" he exclaimed, holding out his right claw to shake Harry's hand.

Harry returned the gesture. "How do you know my name?… or better yet… how do you know how to talk?"

"Ha Ha!" The giant colorful bird laughed. "You are a legend in the world of magical places. The one the prophecy spoke of. The boy who lived and will defeat the evil wizard." he proclaimed. "AND… as far as my speaking capabilities go… let's just say I have parrot genes in my bloodline."

"Is it true that you taught Peter Pan how to fly?" Harry asked.

"Tis true." Never Bird replied. "And… you could also fly if you truly wanted to."

"Me?" Harry retorted. "Not without a broomstick, I'm afraid."

"Ha! Silly boy! One day you will fly higher than us all!"

"Well, I'm afraid I don't have much time to learn at the moment." Harry said. "Moira Darling is under the impression that you might be able to help me get to a world known as The Land of Oz."

"This Moira Darling sounds like a wise girl. Indeed I do know how you can get to The Land of Oz."

"How? Please tell me!" Harry begged. "I have to stop Voldemort from draining all the magic before the Light Stone completely fades!"

"Yes. I know. Just as the prophecy proclaims. But- you should know, Voldemort is only one evil wizard, a powerful one at that, but there are several others out there, and even if you defeat him, the others will use the knowledge they have gained from the dark wizard's attempt, and then they will most certainly try again."

"Others?" Harry fretted.

"Several." Never Bird replied.

"Oh boy." Harry muttered.

"I will now tell you how to get to The Land of Oz. You will want to travel light."

"Um…" Harry interrupted. "I have to take my friends and the Lost Boys with me."

"Oh boy." Never Bird frowned. "How do you expect to carry all of them across the cosmos?"

Harry stood and thought for a second. "I have a boat!" He piped up.

"Great… I suppose." Never Bird said sarcastically. "You will need quite a bit more magic to accomplish that."

Then, Never Bird stood up, revealing a large colorful egg. "I have been protecting this egg for quite some time now," he informed Harry. "I know Tinker Bell passed you her fairy abilities, but you still don't possess enough magic to travel to other worlds with that many people. Her energy only gave the Light Stone enough spark to survive for a bit longer. However, there is something inside this egg that will give you the powers to do so."

Suddenly- the egg began to crack open. Harry was expecting a giant baby bird to pop out of it, but instead, after the egg completely opened, it was a rather small and colorful baby chick.

"Wow! That was such a large egg for such a small creature." Harry blurted.

"The chick is small, but its magic is big. Her name is Pixie, and she is the last magical creature that will ever be born unless you can stop the evil wizard."

"Why name her Pixie?" Harry asked.

At that moment, Pixie stretched her little wings out and then shook them off, causing pixie dust to fly all around. When the pixie dust hit Harry, he began to feel his body lifting up from out of the nest.

"Nevermind. I think I know why you named her Pixie now!" He answered his own question, hovering slightly in mid-air.

"Pixie will guide you and your friends to the other magical places. As her wings flap, fairy dust will continue to sprinkle out, protecting you from the elements of outer space. Once you get to The Land of Oz, she will sit and wait for your next instructions." Never Bird explained.

"One question. How do I get back to the boat from here?"

Pixie began flapping her tiny wings. And soon- she was flying over Harry, her magic fairy dust sprinkling out from beneath her wings as she carried him away.

After making it back to the Jolly Roger, Harry told everyone what he had learned on Bird Island. He also told Captain Hook that he would need to borrow his ship for a little longer.

"This ship is the last of my legacy, young boy. The jewel of my eye. The oyster in my clam." he continued. "If you are taking the Jolly Roger, then I am going with you!" He declared. "By the way… where is it we are going again?"

"The Land of Oz." Harry replied.

"Smee!" Hook called out. "Prepare the mainsail for Oz!" Then he turned to ask, "Where is Oz?"

"It is somewhere out amongst the stars, but you won't need your sail." Harry informed. "Pixie will guide us."

Moments later, Pixie began flying over the Jolly Roger, sprinkling fairy dust over the entire boat. Soon after, the ship began to float upward towards the sky. And then, in the blink of an eye, they were gone, traveling through space at the speed of light.

Within no time, they were already piercing the atmosphere that surrounded The Land of Oz. However, landing the Jolly Roger wasn't easy for Pixie, and it came to a slight crashing halt.

Everyone on board seemed to be okay. And after regaining their composure, they threw rope ladders over the side of the ship so that they could scale down to the ground.

Upon Hermione climbing down to the ground, she screamed in horror when she saw something terrible that must have happened when the ship crash-landed. "Oh my GOD! I think we crushed someone!" She cried out, noticing a pair of legs coming out from under the ship, on the feet were bright ruby-red slippers.

Just then- the ruby-red slippers faded away from the crushed bystander. And soon after, the legs of the fallen bystander shriveled up until they decayed right before Hermione's eyes.

Suddenly- Hermione felt light on her feet. When she looked down, she noticed that the ruby-red slippers were now on her own feet.
