"So, what are you going to do about it?" Gabirela asked her wife.
Cas didn't look back from where she was sitting next to their kids crib. Her fingers threw the bars touching little Marcial's han, "About what?"
"Don't play dumb, mi amor," Gabriela walked over where she was and stood behind the and started running her hand threw Cas' hair, "about….Hannah."
The slightly older woman didn't say anything for a moment. Cas simply looked at the three kids.
"I love Marisol, Marcial, and little Mirabel so much," Cas finally said, "As soon as we went to church and saw them, I had an inkly we would end up adopting all three of them. I can't imagine my life without them now."
"Casandra…" Gabriela said softly as she noticed the angry tears on Casandra's face.
"So, it hurts so much more that my mother left," the woman spat out, "What's worse is I'm her biological daughter. She carried me for 9 months just to leave me…."
Gabriela just hugged Cas.
"What do I get out of visiting her?" Cas asked almost in confusion, "Do I want closure? I doubt I'll get it. Do I want to say goodbye? Her passing won't affect me at all, she hasn't been my mother for a long time. To finally let out all my anger out on her about what she did to my father, brothers, and me? Cause who does that a dying woman really?"
Gabriela kissed Cas' head, "I don't know, but I think one thing is obvious."
"Hmm, what?" Cas asked as she looked up at her wife.
Gabriela gave her a gentle kiss before pulling back, "You have already decided you're going to visit her."
…
Abuela Mirabel sighed as she pulled an envelope from her closet, "I agree with you. I think you should wait to take Jaime and Mateo."
Cas sat in the large bay window in Abuela Mirabel's room. It's where The Candle use to sit before it had been moved to Tia Sofia's room, it would eventually move to Mateo's room one day, "Don't tell them either. As far as they know I'll be in the past helping Mirabel for a while."
Abuela Mirabel nodded, "Ana is going to teleport you there?"
"Yeah, I talked to her," Cas pulled a picture out of her pocket and held up the drawing of the hospital building Emelina made, "Yeah, hopefully we don't run into any problems while there. I think I have citizenship in the United States but I don't have any proof of it…"
Abuela Mirabel hummed as she handed an envelope to her, "This is from your mother."
That caused a look to appear on her face as Cas opened it to see an envelope busting with American money, "What the fuck…."
"Language," Abuela Mirabel lightly scolded as she sat down, "Your mother sporadically sent thousands of dollars to us over the years. "Child support" she claimed. But we don't require much money here and it's american currency so we would have had to exchange it on top of that so I just put it away."
Cas just angrily glared at the money, "Doesn't make her less of a deadbeat."
"Regardless I think it should help your visit," Abuela Mirabel commented as she looked tenderly at her granddaughter, "Promise me you'll be safe, corazon?"
"Of course," Cas softly smiled at her grandmother, "I'll be back before you know it and you'll stay busy helping Gabriela with the triplets."
That caused confusion to appear on Abuela Mirabel's face, "Wait, Gabriela isn't going with you?"
Cas rubbed her neck, "No, but don't worry. I don't plan to go alone."
….
Mirabel was helping her mother do the dishes as they talked, "I don't really know if Cas is going to visit her mother or not…"
"Cas' relationship is rather complicated from what I've heard," Julieta agreed as she handed the wet dishes to her daughter to dry, "Would you visit her?"
"Older me won't," Mirabel admitted honestly, "I think she still is a little angry at her about abandoning Cas, Jaime, and Mateo. Not to mention Pedro's death….I honestly keep thinking about if I will eventually let Hannah be around my Pedro when I have him. I love Cas and her brothers. But, knowing it may lead to my son's death…."
"That's still a bit away in your future," Julieta tried to reassure as she cut off the water and wrapped her arm around Mirabel, "You have time to think. But, let's back up. Do you think Cas wants to see her mom before she passes? Maybe introduce her to the triplets?"
Mirabel shook her head, "I don't think so….but she might use this as an opportunity to maybe meet her maternal family? She knows next to nothing about the Jamesons. Cas knows the Madrigals, the Rojas, the Vegas, but not much about the Jamesons."
"I honestly don't know if I want to meet the people that raised a woman like Hannah," Julieta commented in disdain, "She hurt my great grandbabies too much."
"Ma," Mirabel sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Regardless You'll be there to support her," Julieta reassured her.
They heard a door bang open and thundering down the stairs as Cas slided into the kitchen carrying a bag over her shoulder.
"Pack your bag, you're coming with me to California," Cas confidently explained.
Mirabel and Julieta stared in confusion at the young woman.
"I didn't mean support her as in go with her to a forgein country!" Julieta said in disbelief.
Author's Note
Cas has no idea what she's going to do when she sees her mother but does know she wants to see her. Also yes we will be meeting the Jameson family (Hannah's parents, siblings, siblings in laws, nieces, and nephews). so drama there.
Cas' logic in not taking Gabriela is she knows she will snap at Hannah and she wants her to stay with the kids. Cas' logic in not taking Mateo is he's nine just no. Cas' logic in not taking Jaime is he had a very bad reaction to her leaving the last time. Cas' logic in not taking Abuela Mirabel, the woman is 81 years old let the woman relax. Cas' logic in taking Mirabel, she is great support, will hopefully stop Cas from snapping, and speaks English to best out of her family behind Tio Ernesto, Tio Reyes, Tio David, and Mateo.
Anyway, thank for reading and please comment it gives me hope for humanity or something.
