I'll try and get back to fast updates for you soon, but just know iv not forgotten, I'm still writing it, it's just taking a spell.

Verucabeyotch: Thank you! To be honest, i really enjoyed writing the lore for Hecate's Brother. I find witches and the possibilities around them fascinating, so it was fun to write something OC about it.

CurlyWitch14: Honestly one of my better lines, ngl. XD I always love reading Fanfics that can pull a small heart string. But I struggle to write it.

Dominiclucas2000: Thank you! 7 our of 10 ain't bad. I'm not currently planning any other Worst witch fanfiction. Mainly because if i start a new one, i may never update this one. XD But i will keep it in mind for the future,

Also, I made a timetable for Mildred if anyones Interested in seeing it. Enjoy!

Chapter 9: The first full day

Mildred spent the night in Mild Worry, Hecate had seemed off, and had not come to Dinner. When the day was over, she had gone to bed, Pippa wishing her a lovely night. She hadn't seen Hecate, She hadn't even seen her in the Morning. Unfortunately, it was now the first full day of school, and Mildred had way too many things to focus on.

Her day started off with PE and Flying. Today would be her first Lesson with Miss Spellbinder. Miss Drill would also be there, just for a few lessons to sort of hand over the flying students. "Goooood day, Ladies!" The Overly Joyful teacher yelled out. Marching in full red onto the Court, side by side with Drill. All The girls turned to look at them.

"This Is Miss Spellbinder.." Miss Drill Spoke, she didn't sound too happy about sharing her lessons. "As you're aware, she'll be taking over the flying portion of our lessons!" Miss Spellbinder stood beside her and raised her broom slightly, just to make sure we knew what she meant by flying. "We'll start off with three Laps, Then we'll get you some flying!" She Blew her whistle twice, Sending the girls off on their run.

A Highlight for Mildred was always how much Ethel Complained. "What's the point in running, I could just use my broom to get from a to b!" She Yelled out.

"You're so right, Ethel" Drusilla said, she was always so quick to defend or agree with Ethel. In a way, Mildred Missed the self reliant girl she met at Pentangles. Now nothing but a lackey.

"Did they do these foolish runs at Pentangles?" Ethel asked in her usual stuck up tone, as if such normal things like running was far beneath her. Well, She thought it was. It only made Mildred like sports more.

"We did an Hour of General Fitness a week.." Drusilla Said, scrunching her nose in thought. "We sometimes did laps.. But sometimes games.." She looked to be really thinking about what they did during those lessons. "And things like that"

"Still Pointless, Just less time consuming" Ethel Grumbled. One Hundred Minutes a Lesson did sound a lot, but it meant they got a lot done, And they only had three Lessons a day then. Mildred didn't know if it was like this in other Boarding schools. She didn't pay much attention to what was going on at Pentangles when she visited. It was the last day, so it did not run as normal. She briefly wondered if now they had Pippa and other Pentangles if they would get an end of year party.

Mildred felt rotten.. What happened to Pentangles was terrible! It should never have happened to anyone. No School deserved it. But at the same time, Mildred couldn't help but feel that having Pentangles here would be great. If only it was under better circumstances.

Soon the Girls came to an end of their run, Lining up in neat formation in front of the two teachers. Mildred couldn't help the smirk as she looked at the two. They both looked so different. Miss Drill dressed for sports, Miss Spellbinder dressed for motorcycling. "I'm so looking forward to seeing your skills today!" The red teacher yelled out. Mildred had always found Miss Drill to be excitable but she put that to shame.

"Yes well.." Miss drill started, giving Miss Spellbinder a side eye. "We'll be showing Miss Spellbinder our broom surfing. First, up you get!" She Matched between Students, helping them stand up onto their broom.

It was then Mildred realised she too would need help. Hecate always Helped her up. She Silently weighed her options. She could Ask Miss Drill for help, or she could struggle, fall over a few times, and either manage it in her own way, or end up with help anyway. She decided to go with the less humiliating option. It was the first full day of school, she didn't want to make more of a fool of herself.

"Alright, Mildred?" Miss Drill asked coming to stand by her.

Mildred shook her head lightly. "Could I get a hand, Miss?" Sometimes one's pride needs to take a hit. She likes to think someone, Maybe Hecate or Pippa would be proud of her for that. Maybe even Miss Cackle.

Miss Drill stood before her, helping her stand upright on her broom. "Hover!" She commanded as it started to rise, Along with Mildred on top. She stayed steady and let it rise up. Once up, Miss Drill stood back, letting go of her hands. "Wonderful, Mildred" She commented before moving onto the next. Leaving Mildred to wobble lightly as she awaited further command.

Mildred had spent all Summer practising this. When she looked at Ethel and saw her gossiping and laughing while sending side eyes to Mildred, she remembered why. She didn't want to be the worst witch, she didn't want to be laughed at every time she did something wrong, or blamed every time she did something right.

"A Simple Circuit.. Go when ready!" Miss Drill yelled out with some excitement. Mildred Sighed and fixed her stance, sending her broom flying off at a good speed, it wasn't long till she had caught up to Ethel. Who looked over to her with a startled expression. Mildred knew she needed to keep her power flowing steady. Hecate told her that was the key to any race. Not being fast, but keeping steady. Ethel Shot forward, but she would burn herself out that way. Mildred kept at a fast pace, even coming round the Corner with the same gusto.

She did Eventually fly past Ethel, who yelled out "Mildred Hubble, you cheat!" Of course she would think that, after all, the worst witch can never be better at something, no matter how hard she tries. What Made Mildred stall slightly was the use of her second name. It's been a while since she'd heard it. Sure it was still written on things, and every time she did see it, it made her pause. But hearing it yelled out again, after all this time, made Mildred frown. She Hated it. Hated that when she heard the name Hubble, she didn't see the bubbly family. Not anymore. Instead, she saw failure, destruction, and ruin. She Loved her mother, but hated what she had made her become. It was a Hubble's doing. And a Hubble she would be no longer. That wasn't who she was, not anymore. She could finally allow happiness again, and allow herself to feel joy. The Name Hubble took that away from her in an instance.

In fact, she was so busy thinking about it, she hadn't realised she had passed the Finish line till Miss Drill yelled "Mildred! Where are you going? You won!" Mildred came to a halt, Falling off the front of her broom and rolling onto the floor.

Enid and Maud were by her side in an instant. "Millie!" Maud Yelled out, Pulling Mildred up onto her feet. "Are you alright?"

Enid Brushed down Mildred's sports clothing of any dirt. "What were you thinking?" Enid asked, shaking her head. Mildred couldn't tell if she meant by stopping like that, or what she was thinking to make her disappear into her own head. Either way she wasn't getting an answer, Just a shrug.

Miss Drill came over, making sure she was okay, While simultaneously dismissing the class. Of course, Ethel couldn't leave without a snide comment of "I will find out how you cheated, and when I do, you'll be sorry" Mildred was already sorry she had to share a year with her, let alone a school.

"I never knew you could fly like that, Mildred," Miss Drill Said, smiling as she normally did, hand on her whistle, always ready to blow it if needed. "I'll have to find you something nice to reward you. Maybe Miss Hardbroom has an idea." As she mentioned that, She waved upwards at one of the second story windows. Mildred turned slightly to look up, and there watching was Hecate and Miss Cackle. Hecate would have seen her win but also seen how she flew off her broom. That'd bring questions later, she was sure of it. Though, there was something endearing about it. If she was her mum, it would be like showing off her daughter to her friends. 'Look what my girl can do'. Of course, it wasn't like that. Miss Cackle was probably just curious on how they'd all do. It wasn't all about Millie after all. But, seeing Miss Hardbroom for the first time since yesterday, was odd. She was so use to seeing every few hours.

Mildred had left with her friends to change for break. She'd cheeked in on Tabby, he was doing just fine loitering round the apartment. Next would be Modern Chanting. The first of many. Unfortunately, it was nothing to write home about. They sang a song about Flowers or something. Truthfully, Mildred's Mind was elsewhere.

On one hand, the words 'Mildred Hubble' kept circling round her head. She knew a few teachers would often cut people off before saying it, and they would all avoid saying it. She was somewhat grateful for that. She hated the constant reminder, she hated the way it stabbed her heart every single time. She Hated it with a passion. She'd take any name at this point. Mildred Pentangle. Mildred Cackle. Mildred Drill. Mildred Batt. Maybe even.. Mildred Hardbroom.

She shook her head. It was a stupid thought, really. Her mum once said 'once a Hubble, always a Hubble'. That was when her great aunt Petunia got married and changed her last name. Mildred asked if that meant she wasn't a Hubble. At Seven, she didn't know anyone who had gotten married before that. Julie explained to her that once a Hubble, always a Hubble, it just means you've also joined another family. She supposed it was almost like this, now she thought about it a little more.

She wouldn't mention it, at least, she didn't think she would. It seemed like an odd thing to say to her. Then again, Mildred was a little worried to talk to Hecate at all. She'd seemed so off since yesterday, she really thought it might just be the stress. But she couldn't Miss the Look of pain in her eyes when she spoke about the last Rogue. She couldn't help but wonder if it was because she was around at the time. Maybe it affected a lot of witches that way. She'd imagined she'd crossed paths with one or two of them, maybe even knew one of them personally.

She looked up to Pippa as the class ended, waiting for each student to leave before going up to her desk. Pippa looked to Mildred before waving her hand to the door, closing it in an instant. Mildred longed to learn wordless magic one day. "What's wrong, Millie?" Pippa asked moving to perch onto the side of the desk besides Mildred. "You've been off all lesson" She'd Noticed. Of course, Pippa had noticed. She was nice like that.

"I'm a bit worried.. About Hecate" She said. She was in the company of only Pippa, She could use her Guardian and Teachers first name here. She was sure. "We were talking yesterday about the last rogue Wizard and.." Before Mildred could continue, she saw a look of shock, followed by a face that could only say 'of course!' flashed across Pippa's face, Halting the words of Mildred.

"Did she tell you about Isaac?" Pippa asked, looking now just as concerned. Mildred simply nodded. Was that who she knew? The Wizard who died. "Im.. I'm surprised to be honest. She doesn't like talking about him.. But it explains her mood." She looked away shaking her head.

Mildred's heart pounded. She didn't know it would Upset Hecate to talk about it. She didn't want to upset her.. In a white, uneven voice she asked the only question that mattered to her right now. "W-Who was he to her?"

Pippa whispered, more to herself than anything "She didn't tell you.." Before standing straight and speaking far louder, her own sorrow in her voice. "His name.. Is Isaac Hardbroom. Hecate's Elder Brother."

Mildred felt as if the world had stopped. Her head started spinning. She didn't know much about Hecate's family. She knew they were powerful, but she didn't think they were as powerful as a titled wizard! Just talking and thinking about Isaac made Hecate sad, that said loads about their relationship to Mildred. She hadn't even known she had a sibling. Suddenly she wanted nothing more than to find Hecate and hug her. It was stupid, Hecate wasnt the hugging type, she knew that. But, she couldn't imagine the pain of losing a sibling.

She nodded to Pippa and simply whispered her thanks before leaving the room in a daze. She walked to lunch, and sat down to eat. Her friends were chatting about this and that. Mildred looked up to the Teachers Table. Hecate looked lost in thought, pushing something around on her plate. She had never realised how alike they were.

The fact that they'd both used a wishing star to turn someone magical was a start. But, Her mum was a rogue. And her brother fought one. And like herself, when something bothered her, they had a tendency of getting lost in thought. Mildred was debating on if she should speak to her, or if she should just let it pass. The second option seemed cruel to Mildred, just leaving Hecate to suffer on her own. But, She also knew Hecate didn't like talking feelings or the likes of. It was a double edged sword for Mildred.

Everything was a double edged sword for Mildred nowadays. She just couldn't seem to get one thing right, without getting another thing wrong.
