"Ok guys", said the director, "As you already know, we decided to really make that movie. You've already got your scripts, so I hope you had enough time to observe and practice them, and I think we should start filming. You two come with me. And you...come back when I get done with your beloved siblings...I have something special for you...".
Wakko Warner, the 11-year-old middle child of the three Warner siblings, was walking down the street, having nothing to do for the next thirty minutes. He was a dog-like toon with a red hat and a blue turtleneck. His siblings were the only two who fully understood him, due to the pressure they gave them with filming.
No one understood, not even the psychiatrist, Dr. Scratchensniff. Wakko just couldn't act the same as his siblings. Adult jokes and stuff like that made him trow up. But what could he do? If he wasn't included in such acting, he'd be left out with little to no lines.
Wakko just couldn't understand it. Why did they have to use them for money? First they lock them up in the water tower for 63 years, then they escape only to be punished by filming. For 6 years. Just as he tought it was over, now they had to film again. What? Three years of break were enough? The way the director told him that last thing before he left, it sounded like he was mocking him.
At that moment, he saw a girl his hight running towards him. She had black hair, wore a dark blue t-shirt and a pair of yellow shorts. She looked frightened, her eyes were glowing with fear and a desire for a safe place. Wakko started running towards her, feeling worried and wanting to help. They bumped into eachother and he gasped.
"Oh, sorry! Are you ok?".
Lilo looked up to see a lovely creature standing before her, his big black eyes looking at her with worry. The sight made her realise, he was the very first to take notice in her suffering and, even more importantly, the first one she had just met here on the movie lot. Knowing it was safe, Lilo broke down and Wakko hugged her.
"Hey...don't worry, it'll be fine...", he said gently. Lilo hugged back, hoping it would. Still, she couldn't simply belive him. She assumed he was optimistic, still, he wasn't human, which meant he could possibly be in danger. Lilo could be in danger as well, knowing her bully was near. Well, that was a danger for both of them.
"Come on, let me take you to Scratchy", said Wakko, taking her hand and walking towards the psychiatry building. "He's the studio shrink", he said, "Do you know what it means?". Lilo shoock her head, she wasn't into the movie lot stuff. "Well, you'll see", said Wakko, not wanting to bother her. Lilo despretly wanted to say something, but somehow she still couldn't.
Finaly, they came to the building and went in. Wakko knocked on one of the doors. (He was still holding Lilo's hand, feeling responsible as never before, which made him feel like he could also do something useful here.) After a while of waiting, the door opened, revealing an older man in a white coat and wearing glasses. "Hello Wakko. Can I help?", he asked in his German accent, seeing Wakko's worried face and a little girl his height holding his hand.
"I found her on the street", said Wakko, "We bumped into eachother and she broke down. I guess she's just gone trough something awful". "Alright", said the man, "Let me take it from here. I guess you have to go now. You have filming, ja?". Wakko sighed, "Sadly yes. But I'll come back". He let go of Lilo's hand and hugged her, "Hope you get better. See you", he whispered, smiling. Lilo smiled back and he let go. The two waved to eachother and he left.
Wakko went back on the set, thinking of the girl he had just met. She seemed to be younger than him, considering she was human. Maybe Dot's age? He didn't know. Suddenly he realised, she didn't even tell him her name! Oh wait, she actually couldn't talk. At least not for now. Wakko really hoped Scratchy could do something about it.
Once he got back, he found his siblings still doing their job. "Bored?", the director asked, "Too early, kid. You can go back to whatever you were doing, they're not finished yet". Wakko didn't resond, he didn't like to talk to the director, especially when he called him a kid. He just left, feeling relived and excited for the results Scratchy would give him.
While he was walking back, he looked up to the blue sky with a few white clouds on it. The day was perfect, clear and sunny. It made him even more excited, that kind of weather cleared his mind and emotions. He was suddenly aware of what was going on and ran to get there as soon as possible.
Wakko finaly got back to the psychiatry building, out of breath, and sat down, clunching his stomach from so much excitement. Time went real slow for him as he waited there, trying to guess what Scratchy was going to tell him.
Finaly, the psychiatrist got out, Lilo walking beside him. Wakko's face lit up when he saw her, "Come sit here!", he said cheerfully as he pointed at the chair next to him. Lilo sat down, exhausted from everything she was going trough. "Oh, hey Wakko", said Scratchy, "You don't have filming?".
"Not yet", said Wakko, "So, how is she?". The psychiatrist sighed, "According to ze symptoms, her behaviour that is, she has been suffering an anxiaty attack for over...six hours now". Wakko gasped, "Over six hours of not saying a single word?!". Lilo felt tears coming to her eyes again, so Wakko wiped them off with his finger, "Shh...don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine", he whispered.
Dr. Scratchensniff sighed again and gave Wakko a paper. There, written in a strangely readable handwritting, was a letter. Wakko started reading quietly, while Lilo stared at him, wanting to see the reaction.
Name: Lilo Pelekai
Age: Going on 7
Dear Wakko,
First of all, thank you a bunch for showing up and helping me here with all that I'm going trough. I came here today at about 4 pm for an experiment that was supposed to take place in an orphanage nearby. However, turns out the orphanage has sections and that I was sent to a wrong one, for bad behaved kids. There I saw my bully, Mertle Edmonds, and ran away. If you wanna know anything else, please write back because I don't know when am I going to be able to talk and writting this takes a lot of time.
Your new friend,
Lilo
Wakko's eyes went wide. He knew there was some kind of a story behind this, but that her bully was so bad Lilo ran away?! He put the paper down and looked at Dr. Scratchensniff, "Can I have a pen, please?". Scratchy went back into his office and came out with a pen Wakko then gave Lilo. "Here", he said, "How old is your bully? And, if I may ask, why is she such a bad person?".
Lilo took the paper, turned it on the other side and wrote:
Mertle Edmonds is my age. Her dad left when she was little, and she actually moved to Hawaii, so she's not native there. This may actually be her home. She calls me a freak and a weirdo. She thinks everything I like is weird. She stole my friends once my parents died, so it means she's also very manipulative.
Wakko stared at the paper Lilo gave him. He couldn't belive it. That could be a danger for both of them. And if the orphanage was near the lot...
"Um...Wakko, I think you should really go now", Scratchy interrupted his toughts. Wakko sighed again, then turned to Lilo, "Ok Lilo. I'm going now, my siblings will pick you up, ok?". Lilo nodded and he hugged her again, "See you, bye".
"Zo...", said Scratchy once Wakko left, "Why don't we go meet ze studio nurse?".
