"So", said Mertle the next day, after the movie lot visit, "Can you tell me about these toons, as you call them?". Katie sighed, "Ok. They can be talking animals or a special animal-like species, which are the original ones. They have a certain age that doesn't change, which means they're actually overintelligent adults. They have toon abilities and can't die except from...". "What?". "D.I.P.".
Mertle made a confused face, "What's that?". "That's like a plazma that can kill them". Cool, I just have to find out how to use it and where to get it
That night, Mertle woke up and quietly went down to the main area. There, she saw the bookshelf and started searching. "There it is!", she whispered cheerfully and took the big stack of useful information. Useful for her.
Katie woke up in the middle of the night and looked over to Mertle's bed. To her shock, she saw what she feared the most. There she was, sitting on the bed and reading the most evil book in the history of California. "Mertle...what're you doing?". "None of your bussiness", she said sounding annoyed. Katie was too tired to argue, so she just went back to sleep.
So, the next morning Mertle hid the book in the drawer next to her bed. And replaced it with another one on the bookshelf. So, Katie's mom didn't even notice.
Meanwhile that previous evening, Dot and Lilo were sitting on the couch while Wakko was still closed up. "So, how was at Scratchy's?", Dot asked while Lilo was turning on the TV. Lilo on the other hand, took her diary and wrote:
Don't want to talk about it.
Dot read it with a frown while Lilo was looking at her with pure curiousity she hid all of the other emotions behind. Dot looked at her, "You want to know something?".
Can you please tell me what's so bad about filming?
Dot sighed, "Some things can only be for kids. Adult jokes, as you can guess, are not". Lilo gasped. This couldn't be. "Also", Dot added, "There's schmoozing. That's...being way too nice with people just to get something".
Adult jokes and schmoozing.
"Ja", said Scratchy the next day, "What about it?".
How dare they?!
The doctor sighed heavily, "I know Lilo...but it is what it is. The two can handle it, but Wakko can't. However, if he doesn't, he'll be left out".
Lilo frowned. She feared this, something like this. It hurt her so much, she couldn't breathe normaly. The pain was just too strong, she tried her best to hide the tears that could flow from her eyes at any moment. She had a heart too big to deal with it. Still, she didn't want to bother herself with that yet. She had to solve her own problem first.
Thank you, see you tomorrow.
And with that, she left the office as quickly as possible. She ran as far as possible from the water tower. She curled up against a wall, tears streaming freely down her face. She had no one to cry to, she didn't want anyone to know. So now Lilo was there on her own, crying her pain out away from everyone.
Little did she now that someone was watching her from the distance. A blonde teenage girl in a pink dress, wanting to be alone as well due to an argument. She couldn't just stand there and watch the little girl cry there, so she approached her.
Once she got closer though, she recognised the girl from a few days ago. "Hey...", she whispered as she sat next to the girl and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, "You're Lilo, right?". Lilo looked up in shock and nodded, then realised who she was looking at. The girl that stood there in front of the water tower with Mertle the other day.
"I'm Katie", said the girl and sighed, "It's sad to see you like this. I just wanted to say...whatever you're going trough, it's ok. You can go home and not talk about it". Lilo wished she could talk about it. She wanted to talk anyway. Tell them how she felt. Scream for the justice of everyone. She got up and waved at Katie before running back to the tower.
"Lilo, where have you been?", the bunny-like toon as she entered, "We went to pick you up, but then Scratchy told us you'd already left". Lilo quickly went to the notebook she had left on the kitchen table and wrote:
I met a girl named Katie. I saw her with Mertle the other day in front of the water tower.
