Chapter 31: The Wedding Part One
Mildred Groaned as the bell sounded out over the School.. She dragged herself out of bed, put on her school uniform, and headed on out to breakfast. Miss Tapioca surprised the whole school with pancakes for breakfast, and un-lumpy Syrup! It must have been her show of kindness. Either that, Or Bee has finally gotten to her.
After Breakfast, Enid, Maud and Millie ran upstairs. "Do you know what you'll want to do with it?" Maud asked. "The hair, that is.."
Mildred thought about it for a moment as they entered her old room. "I think curls would be nice.. Other than that, I'm not too sure.."
"We can fix something up for you, Millie." Enid said as Maud got out her curler. They sat down on the bed. Maud and Enid tag teaming to undo Mildreds Plates. "Did you get your robes?"
"Oh! What colours did you go for?" Maud asked with excitement.
"I em.. Went for the Hardbroom colours.. Dark Blue, Silver and black.." Mildred said with mild awkwardness. She loved Hecate, she did. But she understood the view she had within the school, and it was still so new to her..
"She's letting you use her family colours?" Enid said in surprise. "She won't even let us use one of her pens.."
"That's because you always lose them.." Maud bit back with a playful smirk before looking back to Mildred as she went about curling her long hair. "I'm really happy for you. Mildred. It's a little weird.. But, I'm happy for you."That's really all Mildred needed. Just for her friends to be there for her.. To not hate her for her choices on this matter. It put her at ease.
"I'm happy for you too, Millie. Even if it is HB, You could probably do a lot worse.." Enid was giving Miss Hardbroom a backhanded compliment.. Even though Hecate would be strict, she really did have their best interests at heart.
"Thanks guys, I appreciate it.." Mildred said, a wide smile taking over her face. She didn't care about whatever Ethel would say. She did however care about what her friends thought.
After Maud had finished Curling, they let Enid get to work. She was pinning and pulling Mildreds hair like a real pro! Soon, Mildred looked at herself in the mirror, seeing her curly hair pinned back into a half updo. Her Curly hair trailing down her back. It reminded her of something.. But she couldn't quite put her fingers on it..
"Thanks Enid, Maud.. I think I look.. Rather nice." She did. She really did. She looked Pretty. Mildred didn't by any means think she looked terrible normally.. But there was just something brilliant about this look.
Mildred hung around while Maud and Enid did their own hair before taking off to her own apartment. She put on a plain sleeveless black dress with little ruffles to go under her Robe, paired with her black socks and boots.
She sighed as she finally got to put on her Robe. The Black robe buttoned up at the front, with silver plated buttons. There was a slight opening around Mildreds waist, allowing for the skirt portion to fall into an elegant silhouette. The Neck came up as if it was a turtleneck. Paired with a Bishop sleeve and the hood long, elegant, almost.. Gothic in the way it fell. She wasn't normally one for black, but the way the blue complemented it, along with the Silver accents..
A Small knock came from the door, "C-Come in.." Mildred called out, watching Pippa in her light grey and purple Robe.. she looked like a mediaeval princess.. And the gold on her robe? Just brought out the sparkle in her eyes.
Pippa let out a soft gasp as she looked at Mildred. "Oh, Millie.. You look.." She started.. Cutting herself off.
"I look…?" Mildred thought she looked nice, she looked.. Witchy.
"You look like Hecate." Pippa said after a moment, a content smile coming over her.. Mildred looked like Hecate? She looked back to the mirror, that's who her hair reminded her of.. She'd unintentionally copied Hecate. "Come on, let's show her." Pippa Moved back into the main room.
Mildred tentatively moved to follow her through, her eyes landing on Hecate before Hecate spotted Mildred. Hecate's hair was in a similar format to her own, but with a small bun holding half of it up on her head, the rest flowing in her usual curls down her back. The Black and blue robes were similar, but they had different sleeves, and slightly different ways of falling to the floor..
Hecate turned to look at Mildred, pausing in her motion. "Mildred.." She whispered, a surprisingly tender and kind smile crossing her. "Now you look like a Hardbroom.." It was the biggest compliment Mildred could have gotten from Hecate.
"I went for the Colors.. It felt fitting.." Mildred said with a cocky smile and boost of Confidence.
"It fits you very well." Hecate confirmed. "Shall we?" She Gestured to the door.
The Three of them made their way to the Location. They looked like a pretty neat witch family.. She got the side eye of the likes of Ethel when they turned up, but it was easy enough to ignore given the festivities of the day. Mildred found her spot by Enid and Maud within the year four's area, While Hecate and Pippa went to join Miss Cackle at the front of the seating arrangement.
For the first time since she'd found out she was a witch, she felt she truly belonged. With her family, Hecate and Pippa. Her friends, Maud and Enid. Her school, Cackles, and the various teachers and staff that spent their days helping her to achieve the very best in life. This was where she belonged, and this was who she was meant to be.. It made her just want to cry out with joy.. To dance around like a little school girl. This was her home and her family, she finally belonged..
Her already present Smile only heightened when the student body was told to stand, Miss Bat had wanted a Choir present, Miss Cackle felt it was only right the whole school was that Choir..
As they sung a song of love, Miss Bat began walking towards the location.. Mildred felt so very blessed to be able to be present for this moment.. After all, if she hadn't found Mr Rowan-webb, this would never be happening..
And thats 2/3!
