This one is a smaller chapter, but i am posting a second chapter rn too. I got what i needed to do in both chapters, but they were also on the shorter side. So, Two for the price of one!

Chapter 38: Voting.

Hecate would find herself back in the Headmistresses office again.. Along with every other teacher.. The end of the week has come, and it was time to vote on who would be going forward for the Head Girl trials.. Truthfully, Hecate had been shocked that Mildred had gone forward.. It probably shouldn't have surprised her so much.

"Hello Ladies and Gentleman." Ada greeted as she walked in. Her Eyes looked over the various teachers. "Today we're here to discuss the students who have expressed interest in becoming Head Girl."

Miss Cackle sat behind her desk, looking over the list of names. "First up.. We have Ethel Hallow… She's got an overall of Eighty Six last year, so she perfectly Qualifies. Which teacher is her sponsor?"

Miss Gimlett raised her hand. "That'd be me, Miss Cackle. The Young Miss Hallow has requested my aid during this trying and challenging time, and I will do my best to uphold that." Her scottish voice shot through, like a bullet in the night it hit as intended.

They all knew Ethel would be signing up, it was no secret. After Esmeralda, it was very obvious. Once upon a time, Hecate would have been rooting and campaigning for Ethel to become head girl.. But she saw a mean streak in that girl that no longer spoke to Hecate.

"Very well, Thank you, Miss Gimlett." Ada nodded, allowing Miss Gimlett to place her hand down. "Any Objections to her going forward?" The only hands to raise were Miss Bat's and Miss Pentangles. She knew Pippa didn't like how bullying the guild could be towards some people.

Miss Cackle nodded, less than half, Ethel was free to go on. "Next is.. Andrea Sledwick.. From Pentangles, In her end of year last year she got Eight three Percent.. Who's Sponsoring this girl?"

Andrea was a very polite and bubbly young girl. Very talented too.. She'd make a fine head girl, Hecate was sure. Miss Spellbinder stepped forward. "That'd be me, Miss Cackle! I have high hopes for that one!"

"Any Objections?" Unlike with Ethel, not a single hand raised.. "Very well.. We have.. Felicity Foxglove.. She got Seventy-Nine Percent, making her more than eligible, which teacher is sponsoring her?"

Felicity was a nice and bright young girl, but she was hardly Head Girl Material. She was.. A massive gossip. Miss Bat raised her hand once more. "That would be me, Miss Cackle."

"And.. Objections?" After a moment, Miss Cackle nodded at the various raised hands, it wasn't quite half. "Next is Sapphire Hailstone.. Our fellow Bee from Pentangles… Eighty-One percent last year.. Who's her teacher?"

Hecate had no issue with Sapphire, she was very quiet, but overall quite polite. Her top subject was not Potions, but she wasn't half bad. Miss Nightingale raised her hand up high, "That'd be myself."

"Wonderful. Any objections?" Not a single hand raised.. Those pentangle students were shaping up to be a real challenge.. "And lastly, Mildred Hubble.. Exactly Seventy Percent.. Who's her Sponsor?"

The Headmistress and Deputy head are always excluded from the pickings, which worked out very well this year due to Mildred's relationship with Hecate… "That would be me, Miss Cackle '' Mr Rowan-Webb Stepped forward, that goofy grin on his face..

"Thank you, Mr Rowan-Webb.. Any Objections?" Miss Cackle asked, Only one hand raised, Miss Gimlett… If hecate was being honest, she expected more… "Very well, that appears to be our five competitors.. We will announce it on Monday, then next month we will have our first Challenge." The Teachers were about to leave, but Miss Cackle stopped them "Wait, there is one last thing.. On Tuesday we will be having that Ofwitch inspection.. So, Make sure you're prepared… That is all.. Thank you."
