Hello! XenoBlaze here with a new fanfic. This is my first crossover with Harry Potter and X-Men. Hope you like it.

AN: This chapter contains a LOT of exposition.

Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. An institution built by Charles Xavier for gifted children. From above, it looks like a school. But below the surface, it serves as a way to help facilitate the growth and powers of mutants around the world.

Mutans. Not the type you'd see in a movie. Mutants as in superhuman beings that are born with a genetic mutation called an X-Gene that causes their bodies to develop abilities that regular humans, homo sapiens, are unable to. Xavier built the Institute as a way to not only help Mutants control their powers, but to also hide them amongst the humans.

Mutants come in all shapes and sizes. Some have the power of telepathy, like Xavier himself. Others can take on more physical changes. The X-Men are prime examples of various types of Mutants. An organization created to defend humanity against attacks by powerful mutants who use their powers for criminal ends, as well as against other threats.

Currently, Xavier is using Cerebro. A huge, dome-like room used to locate and identify Mutants from around the world. When combined with the power of a telepath of Xavier's caliber, the powers are augmented.

Xavier himself is a man with brown eyes, no hair and wears a tan coat, a grey turtleneck sweater, black pants and brown shoes. He is also physically disabled.

Standing behind Xavier is a Logan. Codename, Wolverine. A man with blue hair, brown eyes and some stubble on is face. He wears a brown jacket on top of a blue shirt, light blue jeans with a belt and grey shoes.

Recently, a member of the team known as Kurt Wagner or Nightcrawler, had found out that Mystique, a Mutant working for Charles former friend, is his mother. That, along with the fact that very same Mutant is Bayville High's principle, has the team on edge.

"So, how is Kurt?" Xavier asks.

"Good." Logan says. "All things considered. Rouge's been talking to him. I think he just needs some time to wrap his head around everything that's happened."

"I'm afraid time is something we don't have the luxury of." Xavier says.

Logan raises an eyebrow as he moves to stand beside Xavier. "Something wrong?"

Xavier folds his hands. "It's Mystique. When I was in her mind, I found something peculiar."

"Didn't like being in it?" Logan asks with a snort.

"No." Xavier says. "She has several gaps in her memory. Any memories of her life from her younger years are inaccessible to her."

Logan, being a victim of amnesia himself, frowns at Charles wards.

"What do ya think happened to her?" Logan asks.

"I'm not sure." Xavier says while shaking his head. "She ejected me from her mind before I could dig any deeper. It would appear that, much like her name implies, she is a mystery to not only us, but to herself as well."

Xavier looks at the computer screen.

"And I believe that our newest Mutant discovery may hold the answers." Xavier says.

The computer screen displays some information as well as a map with a location marked and a person. Said person is a young British girl a with curvaceous figure. She has long red hair tied in a high ponytail and green eyes. She wears a grey hoodie with long burgundy pants and grey sneakers.

"Discovery." The computer announces. "Mutant signature located. Location, Little Whinging, Surrey. Identity confirmed. Name, Scarlet Potter. Age, 16. Alert. Subject is on the move."

"Potter?" Logan asks with a frown. "I've heard that name before."

"I would imagine so." Xavier says. "Scarlet Potter, otherwise known as the Girl Who Lived. A celebrity in magical Britain. The only one to survive the Killing Curse."

"Magical Britain?" Logan asks. "Ain't that where all those wizards and witches are located?"

"You'll find that wizards and witches are all around us." Xavier says. "Most hide in plain sight. Much like us. Miss Potter was actually discovered some time ago, but she's been difficult to pinpoint. It's only recently that she's been using her powers more frequently."

"So, what does the kid have to do with Mystique?" Logan asks.

Xavier narrows his eyes slightly. "Her power. She's a shape-shifter."

In a crowded street, a bespectacled young woman with a slim figure, black hair styled in a short bob cut and violet eyes walks threw the crowd. She wears a grey sweater, a black pleated skirt and brown shoes. She also had a green purse and was dragging a suitcase on wheels.

To others, this young woman isn't important. But they are wrong. For this young woman is actually Scarlett Potter in disguise.

Scarlet hasn't had the glamorous life many in the magical community believe she's had. Not even two years old and her parents were killed by a dark lord. She was then placed with her relatives on her mother's side of the family. Though Scarlet would use the term "family" loosely.

The Dursleys hated anything abnormal and Scarlet was anything but. From a young age, the girl was made into a slave by her own family and anytime she would rebel, she was punished for it. Scarlet was even forced to hide her intelligence and make herself look dumber than her oafish cousin. Said cousin made it impossible for the girl to have any friends and his parents turned the other adults against her.

Then came her thirteenth birthday. When Scarlet found out she was a witch. The girl learned that she was a celebrity for being the only one to survive an encounter with Voldemort. Talk about insensitive. Her parents DIED because of that madman. Besides, how is a baby supposed to defeat an evil wizard? Obviously, her parents sacrifice is what protected her.

On the train to Hogwarts, Scarlet made friends with a Muggleborn witch named Hermione Granger. However, a boy by the name of Ron Weasley tried to put himself into their group. Truth be told, Scarlet hated Ron. He was noisy, rude and had no table manners. Plus Scarlet didn't like the way the boy looked at her. Upon arriving at Hogwarts, Hermione was sorted into Ravenclaw. Wanting to be close to her new friend, Scarlet asked to be sorted into Ravenclaw as well. Though the Sorting Hat did comment that she'd do better in Slytherin. Many were shocked that their so-called heroine was sorted in the house of knowledge. Two particular people were downright furious. One being Ron who was sorted in Gryffindor and surprisingly, the headmaster of Hogwarts himself, Albus too-many-names Dumbledore.

The First year, Scarlet had to deal with her unwanted fame, a nosey little redhead, a blonde prat, a potions teacher who seemed to hate Scarlet for just existing, a meddlesome headmaster, deadly traps and the murderer of her parents who was possessing one of her teachers. And she was sent back to the Dursleys by the end of the school year.

Second year was almost the same. Only Scarlet had to deal with the school turning against her cause she can talk to snakes, a false professor who wanted to get into the girls skirts, Scarlet included and a huge twenty foot long serpent along with everything else. Never mind almost dying from basilisk venom after shoving a sword up the roof of the beast mouth.

Third year was tame compared to the last two. Just add Dementors, a werewolf teacher and a semi-sane godfather breaking out of jail to hunt down the real traitor of his best friends. Said traitor who had been masquerading himself as the Weasley families pet rat.

It would be the fourth year that things took a turn for the worst. Scarlet was entered in the Triwizard Tournament thanks to a Death Eater masquerading as a teacher. The whole school once again turned against the redhead for "cheating" her way into the tournament. By this point, Scarlet was tired of Hogwarts and the magical world in general. One upside was that Scarlet made friends with Cedric Diggory, the true Hogwarts champion and Fleur Delacour from Beauxbatons after saving her little sister during the second task. But it was the third task when everything went downhill.

Using a dark ritual, Voldemort returned. Scarlet managed to escape, but at the cost of Cedric Diggory's life. When she got back to Hogwarts, Scarlet, in a rush of emotions, declared that Voldemort had returned. Naturally, many didn't believe her and dismissed Scarlet as a lying, attention seeking brat. To make matters worse, Ron got it into his head that with everyone against her, Scarlet would throw herself on to him. Needless to say, Scarlet verbally and physically beat the Weasley boy to a pulp. But the shock wasn't over.

Scarlet had caught Ron speaking with Dumbledore after the tournament. The news was mind blowing. Dumbledore revealed that Scarlet was nothing but a pawn to his schemes. Even more so, Ron was working as a spy for the headmaster and his reward was Scarlet's family fortune AND her via marriage contract! A contract signed by Molly Weasley and Dumbledore! It all made sense to her now. From her first year, Dumbledore has been trying to influence Scarlet's choices and steer her towards a path he chose for her.

When Scarlet returned to her dorm room, she punched a wall in a rage. It was at that moment that something snapped inside Scarlet. And the redhead found herself changed. Her skin became blue and her eyes turned yellow with black pupil's. In her shock, Scarlet didn't notice Hermione come in. And the brown bushy haired girl saw her best friend's appearance. Panicking and wishing that she was back to normal, Scarlet had unknowingly reverted back to her old self. After which, the redhead explained everything. Hermione couldn't and didn't want to believe it. But it all made sense. Still, finding out that your headmaster was more of a dark lord than he let on shattered Hermione's faith in authority.

With Hermione's help, Scarlet found out that she could change her appearance to whatever she wanted. Even mimic a person's voice. She even found out that her physical capabilities had been enhanced and that she now has a minor healing factor. At first, the bushy haired girl thought her friend was a Metamorphmagus. But a trip to Gringotts after the school year ended revealed otherwise.

Scarlet was a Mutant. Not only that, but she also found out that Dumbledore and Molly Weasley were draining her bank account on top of there being a fragment of Voldemort's soul in her scar! But the real shock came when Scarlet found out that her mother was still alive! And was currently living in Bayville, New York.

With everything that's happened to her, Scarlet's mind was made up. She was leaving Britain and the magical world. But she needed to make sure Dumbledore couldn't find her and drag her back. The first thing Scarlet did was send the Dursley's on vacation. Scarlet didn't want to spend money on her tormentors but she needed them far away from her. Disguised as a grand prize in a contest, the Dursley's were gone for two weeks, conveniently leaving Scarlet behind.

The next thing Scarlet did was make a trip to Knockturn Alley. In disguise of course. The redhead had found out that her wand had a trace on it. So, she needed a new one. One that couldn't be tracked. Scarlet visited the wand shop in Knockturn Alley since she knew that they didn't follow the same rules as Ollivanders. Her new wand was 11 inches long, made of blackthorn and her own hair served as it's core. Who knew that a Mutants hair was that potent? When Scarlet got home, she noticed that wizards were watching the Dursley's home. Likely sent by Dumbledore. So, she had to move fast.

Scarlet then had her account frozen, changed the keys, had the marriage contract revoked while also denouncing Dumbledore as her magical guardian and got the soul fragment removed. Now THAT was painful. A whole hour of screaming in agony, naked on an altar with symbols drawn on her body as the curse breakers chanted. It was too bad that Scarlet was still sixteen because she needed a drink after that. The redhead spent a few days to recover. When she was better, Scarlet got herself emancipated, got some travel documents, had her money converted to US bills and made a call to get herself citizenship in America.

In the span of ten days, Scarlet was ready to leave everything behind her. She had gotten word from Hermione that Dumbledore had taken her and Ron to 12 Grimmauld Place, the ancient home of the Black family. For their protection, so Dumbledore says. Hermione was close to punching Ron in the face for his attitude.

The headmaster had even forbade contacting Scarlet under the pretense of her needing to morn Cedric. Luckily, Hermione sent her mail through Muggle post. Scarlet had wrote back to Hermione and explained her plans. She also told the bushy haired girl to tell her true friends. Hermione was sad that her best friend was leaving but understood her reasons and wished her well.

Hermione, Ginny Weasley, Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom and Fred and George Weasley. Scarlet would miss them all.

All of these events had led her to now. After studying the changing times of her "guards", Scarlet knew now was the time to leave. The Dursleys would be back in two days and she wanted to be long gone before anyone realized what she had done. So here she was, on her way to the airport to get on a plane to New York. Scarlet would find and confront her mother and if she didn't want anything to do with her, well she survived this long without parents. Good thing that Scarlet had already sent her beloved owl, Hedwig to the Gringotts bank in New York. Even with her new powers, Scarlet's owl was a dead giveaway to her identity. She even snapped her old wand in half and left it at the Dursleys.

Scarlet enters the airport and immediately feels someone probing her mind. Her first thought was that Dumbledore, someone in his circle or, Merlin forbid, Voldemort and his group had found her. That was until she was nudged to look in front of her. There she saw a bald man in a wheelchair with an imposing blue-haired man and two teenagers that looked a year older than her.

One of the teenager's was a handsome Caucasian boy with a tall and lean frame, clean-cut brown hair, ruby quartz glasses and wearing a blue sweater over a pale yellow shirt, tan pants with a brown belt and light brown shoes.

The other teenager was a beautiful Caucasian girl with a tall and athletic figure. She has long, red hair, which she wears freely down her back, green eyes and wears a form-fitting pale purple shirt with a slight V-neck (exposing naval) tan khakis and brown open-toed sandals. The girl accessorized with gold bracelets on each of her wrists.

Upon seeing the group, Scarlet wasn't sure they were wizards. Though the man in the wheelchair gave her Dumbledore vibes. Said man motioned for them to talk in the nearby coffee shop. Scarlet reluctantly agreed.

After the Dumbledore-like man paid for the coffee, everyone was seated. Scarlet treated the people in front of her with scrutiny. She was also carefully marking possible escape routes.

"I can understand your apprehension, miss Potter." Xavier says, shocking Scarlet. "But rest assured, we mean you no harm."

Scarlet mask her shock with a impassive expression.

"I'm afraid you're confused." Scarlet says in Hermione's voice. "I don't know a Potter."

Xavier chuckles good naturally. "You've learned how to use your new abilities quite well. But you can relax. No one beyond this table will know of our conversation."

Scarlet raises an eyebrow in confusion. She then looks around to see that everyone in the coffee shop is frozen! No one was moving. Like time had stopped.

"How...?" Scarlet says in her voice with shock.

"We are like you, Scarlet." Xavier says. "I am Charles Xavier." Xavier gestures to the others with him. "This is Logan, Jean Grey and Scott Summers."

"Charles Xavier?" Scarlet asks. "I've heard of you. When I found out what I was, I did some research on genetics. Your name came up."

"I'm flattered." Xavier says.

Scarlet glances around before looking back at Xavier. "How are you stopping time?"

"I'm not exactly stopping time." Charles says before taking a sip of his coffee. "I've frozen everyone's minds around us. It's not an ability I like to use often."

Scarlet narrows her eyes. "You're a telepath."

"Well done." Xavier says with a nod.

Scarlet glances at Logan and Jean before focusing on Scott.

"I don't know what kind of powers Jean or Logan have." Scarlet says. "But anyone who wears sunglasses indoors is either trying to look cool, or they have something to hide. I'm guessing your powers have to do with your eyes?"

"Yeah." Scott says while rubbing the back of his head. "Trust me, it's safer for all of us that I keep my shades on."

"Noted." Scarlet says with a nod. "And you do pull off the look." Scarlet looks at Xavier. "So, what do you want with me?"

"I'd like to offer you a place at my institute in Bayville." Xavier says. He then eyes Scarlet's luggage. "And it looks like we came at the right time."

"And how do I know you don't just want to use me like all the others?" Scarlet asks with a frown. "You may be a respected person, Mr. Xavier, but you remind me too much of someone who only saw me as a pawn."

Xavier folds his hands. "You're referring to Albus Dumbledore."

Scarlets eyes widen in surprise. Before she can voice her opinion's, Xavier continues.

"I am aware of the magical world." Xavier says. "Though, I was not aware of it's current state. Finding out what kind of man Dumbledore really is leaves me concerned about his motives."

Scarlet thinks to herself for a moment before her eyes widen. "You kept me talking so I wouldn't notice you reading my mind."

"Yes." Xavier says with remorse. "Forgive me, but I wanted to know what had driven you to your current state. Believe me, no one should have to go through what you did. And I'd like to help, if you will allow me."

Scarlet stares at Xavier. Seeing that he truly regrets invading her privacy. She takes comfort that Xavier was being honest with her. Still...

"Before I make my decision, I'd like Scott and Jean's opinions." Scarlet says while looking at said teenagers. "What made you two trust him?"

Scott and Jean look towards each other for a moment before nodding. They then look back to Scarlet.

"Well, for me it all started when I was a kid." Scott says. "I... lost my family in a plane crash and hit my head pretty hard. I spent a few months in a hospital before bouncing from foster home to foster home. When my powers fully emerged, the Professor found me. Gave me a way to see without hurting anyone."

Scarlet looks down with an apologetic look. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring up bad memories. If anyone knows what it's like to lose their family, it's me."

Scott nods with a small smile as Jean places a hand on his shoulder for comfort. The older redhead then focuses on Her's and Scott's coffee cups. The cups then levitate into their hands.

"As for me, I grew up in Connecticut." Jean says. "My family did pretty well for themselves. One morning I woke up and I have this power." Jean giggles. "Trust me, I hated it at first. The Professor found me and said he wanted to help. And with my powers, he was the perfect teacher."

Scarlet catches on to Jeans words. "You've got telepathy too?"

"Yes." Jean says before gaining a solemn look. "And that's how I know why you're so cautious. You've been used your entire life and it's made you question who to trust."

"My story ain't exactly one to tell." Logan says. "But I can say this. All Charles wants is to help ya, kid. It's kinda his thing."

"The choice is yours Scarlet." Xavier says. "I won't force you. If you need transportation to Bayville, we'll accommodate. It's your decision."

Scarlet stares at the group in front of her. Searching their eyes for any traces of lying. After a moment, she looks down and chuckles while changing into her regular human form.

"Well Mione, looks like I'm not the only one with a saving people thing." Scarlet says. She then looks towards Xavier and his group. "I'm in."
