Chapter 62: Tell me everything..

Hecate had watched with pure fascination over Mildred standing her ground. She'd wanted to step in at first, but listening to Mildred rant over everything Ethels done and blamed Mildred for.. Was actually rather Interesting. She'd gotten so fed up with her, she'd spoken her mind.. Hecate had only wished it wasn't so public, it seemed to frazzle her, sending her running off in a state.. Hecate cheeked her watch.. She'd give her some time to cool off before she approached the temperamental teen.

With Pippa's help, they removed the score board, cleared the slime on the floor, and put the Hall back into place. "Will you be going to cheek on Millie?" Pippa asked after it was done. It was always strange seeing the hall so empty.

"I will. I should.." Hecate started, the hands by her side closing into tight fists as she tried to articulate her thoughts.

"..Cheek on her to make sure she's alright?" Pippa supplied the simplest of sentences. "It's not a crime to express care for her.." Despite her words, there was a kindness to the way she spoke, and an amusement that showed nothing but love to Hecate.

"Yes.. I am aware." Hecate nodded slightly, looking towards the doors. "I will be checking on Mildred, to make sure she's.. Alright." She bit out that last part. Caring about students' well-being is different to caring about students' well-being..

Pippa placed a hand on Hecate's shoulder before she moved on to her next task. Hecate let out a deep breath before raising her hand in a dramatic fashion, and teleporting away to her apartment. She looked round the room, noticing Mildreds closed door. With a sigh, she went over to knock on it.

There was no reply for a moment, but she heard the door creak. "Mildred." She spoke out, knocking once more. After a moment she heard a sigh, and a weight was lifted from the door before it opened, revealing a red faced Mildred, her tears staining her face. She looked sad, but it quickly shifted to a look of anger.. Hecate had seen her be annoyed plenty of times before, but she had yet to be on the receiving end of any of Mildreds anger..

"I'm sorry for my outburst.. " She bit out, not daring to look at Miss Hardbroom. It occurred to her.. She was angry because she thought Hecate would be Angry. She was prepared to get told off, for something she clearly wasn't sorry for.

"Stop lying to me." Hecate bit out. "You're not sorry in the slightest." She wasn't mad about it in the slightest.. Mildred had spoken her mind, clear and consistent during her free time..

"No.. I'm not sorry.." Mildred finally looked at her, staring into her eyes with fire. "I'm not sorry, because Ethel had it coming!" She burst out, defending herself where none was needed.

"I know." Hecate admitted.

"And she- You.. What?" Mildred suddenly deflated, the fight in her dying down. "You know?"

Hecate took a step to the side, pointing out at the couch.. Mildred followed without question, moving so they could both sit upon it. "I'm aware she had it coming, and I completely respect how you went about it." Hecate admitted, straightening her skirt now she sat. Mildred didn't say anything, prompting Hecate to continue. "Mildred.. I'm going to.. Allow you to speak freely.. About any past issue you wish to get off your chest.."

"Freely..? Like, without detention or.. Getting told off?" Mildred raised an eyebrow in a way that reminded Hecate of herself.

"Yes.. I'm giving you full permission to.. Get anything off your chest.. To converse with me as a career and not as your teacher.." It was a branch, she was allowing Mildred a sense of freedom that she was never granted. Mildred got up to far more shenanigans than even Hecate knew about.. Perhaps, being able to talk to her on a similar level, will mean that should any issues happen, Mildred would be more willing to come to her with the issue.

"Well.. It all started back during that first week.. I know I messed up on selection day, but I was really hoping I'd somewhat made up for it by stopping agatha.." Mildred confessed, pulling herself up into a ball. "But then Ethel offered her help with my cat, and ended up switching Tabby and Midnight around.." She let out a grone. "But because of Esmeralda standing up for Ethel, it was seen as 'just a mistake'.." She'd put it in quotations.. "But I'm telling you, she did it on purpose.."

Hecate could help but smirk. "And then.. Enid joined, and she turned her cat into a Monkey.." So that's where the Monkey came from.. "I tried to get Maud's help with the situation, but Ethel had switched their Maglets around.. So, When Enid's Monkey cat got caught.. We.. Kinda.." Mildreds face suddenly went pale, clearly whatever she'd done was against the school code.

"What did you do?" Hecate asked, her voice lacked that usual sharpness.. Though it was still pointed with suspicion.

"We stole the store room key.. And we went in.. Ethel locked the door to get you.. Thankfully, Druisilla told Maud, who then came and got us out.." Mildred shrugged slightly. "Ethel was not happy she'd gotten told off.."

"I remember." Hecate did remember telling the girl off for wasting her sleep.. It was somewhat funny to think that actually, she was quite right on the matter.

"And not long after.." Mildred continued, with every tale she told her, Hecate had to bite her tongue even more. From pretending to be a teacher.. Forgetting powder.. Ethel doubling herself.. Maud being turned into a baby.. Miss 'softbroom' made Hecate dread whatever else was to come.. Love potions.. And even her tale of the wise owl, and crazy game..

Hecate didn't know whether to be amazed or horrified! One thing for sure, the more Mildred told, the more she opened up, she became animated, laughing at various anidots. It was nice seeing her be so lively over her time at Cackles. As a teacher, she felt she needed to keep an eye on the students more.. As a parent, she was glad to see Mildreds problem solving skills improving with every problem. It was a whole new light.. She'd have to keep a closer eye on Mildred.
