AN: Here we are at the third chapter for Signs of a Duelist! I'm very happy to get this story forward. Some of you have given me some interesting ideas for monsters for the deck. I made Naruto's deck to be unique and powerful with its own flaws.
Chapter 3
As Naruto watched the duel end, he couldn't help but feel a bit of intimidation at Wolfe. 'OK, so she is actually a terrifying lady. She was definitely holding back there and her power was amazing when she released it.'
'Yes, her power was great but I didn't see anything pointing at her being a Signer,' a deep voice said in Naruto s head, causing him to look at his deck. 'I don't think that she is a Signer.'
'So that must mean that she is if no use to us,' Naruto thought as he walked back into the building. 'So far, the only potential Signer that we have seen is Jack Atlas himself!'
'While I would love to get my shot at Red Dragon Archfiend,' the deep voice responded with a deep growl at the dragon's name. 'It would be best that we don't ignore the threat that Wolfe and that accursed movement pose to us. Especially since they are aware of you being here.'
Naruto nodded as he made his way down the hall, knowing that his powers made him a target for those in the Arcadia Movement. And now that one of its members has seen his powers to an extent, made his job a bit more difficult than it needed to be.
"Oh come on Luna!" a male voice that Naruto vaguely recognized being the 'crossdreser' he dueled. "You can't still be mad at me!"
The curious boy looked inside the open door near him and saw the twins, the boy with glasses, a muscular blur haired man and strange old man from earlier.
"You made me look and sound like a total weirdo!" the girl whom Naruto assumed was the real Luna, replied with her arms crossed as she glared at her obvious sibling. "How will I be able to show my face around anyone! I'm so embarrassed Leo."
Oh come on, it wasn't that bad," the now named Leo replied as he took a step back from his annoyed sister. "I thought I made you look pretty awesome." The hardened glare from his sister made the male twin hide behind the second boy in the room.
"I don't think he made you look to bad," Naruto said, surprising everyone in the area. "You know, other than showing that he is comfortable wearing his sister's clothes."
Leo blushed and stammered as everyone else laughed at Naruto's joke. Shaking away his embarrassment, Leo tried to change the subject. "By the way, your deck was totally awesome! I have never seen or heard of a Shadow Beast deck before!" This got everyone's attention as they looked at Naruto, who just smirked.
"Yeah my cards are pretty cool," Naruto replied as he gained a small, warm smile on his face that made Luna blush slightly at how cute he looked to her. "They have been by my side for years and are very reliable." He pat the deck box on his waist and could tell they were agreeing with him.
Luna heard a growling sound and stared at Narutos deck box, surprised by the noise. She felt a strong pull towards Naruto's deck, making her curios about what his deck could feel about their wielder.
"By the way," Naruto said getting Luna's attention. "May I get a complete introduction with your correct names this time."
"My name is Leonard, but please just call me Leo," Leo introduced himself as he pointed his thumb at himself.
"I'm Luna, Leo's twin sister and the non-weirdo of us," Luna introduced herself with a slight bow of her heard and a small smile. The boy next to Luna introduced himself as Dexter.
The oldest of the two men gave Naruto a friendly, toothy smile as he introduced himself next. "I'm Miyagi, an archeological professor that travels the world collecting the rarest cards ever made. In fact, I am very interested in that Shadow Beast deck of yours." The moment those words left his lips, Naruto's eyes gained a dangerous tint to them as he quickly gripped his deck box.
Seeing how protective Naruto became of his deck, Miyagi realized that the young blonde misunderstood his words. "No, I have no interest in taking your deck young man," the older man said quickly as he raised his hands in a surrender position. "I just wanted to see them as I found them so fascinating when they were summoned. I have never heard of Shadow Beast archetype before."
"It's because it's a rare, one-of-a-kind deck," Naruto replied while still keeping his hand om his deck box. The archetype was made a long time ago when I was a few years younger. They are a powerful deck and I love them a lot."
"Powerful is right," the muscular man said with his arms crossed over his chest. "The deck was tricky and summoned out an impressively powerful monster. My names Tanner by the way kid."
"Hello Tanner," Naruto said with a polite nod. "As I told you, my names Naruto and trust me when I tell you that you have not seen anything from them yet." Naruto ended this with a smirk that Tanner returned.
"I must say that I like your spunk," Tanner said. "And I can't wait till you bust out your decks big guns"
Naruto had to hold back a chuckle, not at Tanner, but at the pride he could feel coming from his deck. 'I know guys,' Naruto said mentally to his deck. 'You guys are awesome.' The young blonde took notice of Luna staring intensely at his deck. "Are you alright Luna?"
"Huh, oh yeah I am fine," Luna stammered in surprise awhile shaking her hands nervously. Seeing the slight concern and worry look in Naruto's deep blue eyes made her blush. "Really, I am!" Naruto nodded and looked away. Luna focused back on Naruto's deck, still trying to understand the strange feeling and emotions coming from the deck.
"Well, I think it's about time for me to get going," Naruto said as he turned around. "I have to look over my decks and strategies, so I can keep forging ahead. After all, I plan to win this thing!" 'And take down Jack Atlas, but most important, is that Red Dragon Archfiend of his.'
A deep growl resonated in his mind as another aura surrounded his deck. This one filled with nothing but hatred yet it didn't surprised Naruto in the slightest. 'Yes I know how you feel towards the Signer Dragons my friend and I promise we will get your revenge on them.'
"Well, if you plan to win, you will have to get passed Yusei to do so," Leo responded with a prideful tone. "Not to mention Jack himself and they are both awesome."
"Awesome yes," Naruto replied with a smirk and arms crossed. "Unbeatable, not even close and my teams ready to go all out." Naruto turned and walked away but felt a pulse of power that caused the growl from earlier to return much more violently.
Suddenly the area began to shake violently as they all heard screaming from the audience outside as a powerful burst of wind rushed through the halls.
They all ran to the nearest exit that would take them to the stadium and they were shocked at what they saw, while Naruto had clenched fists.
The area was practically destroyed, shattered glass and a cracked concrete stadium. The audience themselves were all downright terrified as a grown man wearing golden knights armor was facing one of the most beautiful women Naruto has ever seen.
She was about average in height and wore a red Victorian style top that goes down to a little past her waist and white poof shoulders. Her top was a dark burgundy and waived about. She had long knee-high socks with red shoes. Her top showed a good amount of cleavage with a teal cross connected to a red chocker on her neck. She had fair skin, brown eyes, and dark burgundy hair. Her hair was mostly chin-length except for two long bangs that framed her beautiful face. She had a strange metal object wrapped in the front of her hair like a curler.
For Naruto, it wasn't the girl that had him so upset, it was the monster that was in front of her. It was a black dragon that had red rose petals adorning its body instead of scales. It's tail was a long black whip that was covered in thorns.
'It's one of the Signer Dragons,' Naruto thought as he heard monstrous roars coming from his deck. Naruto has never felt such hate from his deck before. 'The Black Rose Dragon, the Signer Dragon of the right arm!' Naruto quickly placed his hand on his deck box, doing his best to keep the deck calm. Focusing back in the duel, Naruto caught the last bit of the match while the guy in the knight costume looked terrified.
"Well too bad," the girl stated in an angry tone. "And the next time you want to play dress-up, you should realize it's not what you wear on the outside that makes you who you are, but what's on the inside."
"I want to go home," the knight cried, terrified. "Take it easy now."
"I AM taking it easy!" the girl replied. " Black Rose Dragon, attack!" At her command, the dragon opened its mouth wide and fires a purple blast of fire and black petals. The blast was powerful enough to shake the stadium, which caused the crowed to scream along with the knight. Even from how far they were, everyone felt the gust of winds from the force of the attack.
Naruto watched as the announcer called out that women now named Akiza Izinski has beaten Sir Randsborg, the knight in the golden armor.
'So, Akiza is her name,' Naruto thought as he blocked out the angry roars coming from his deck. 'Fitting that her title matches that of the dragon itself.' Naruto turned away from everyone and walked away with his monsters still growling langrily. 'Not only that, but she is also a Psychic Duelist and a very powerful one at that. Three different Psychic Duelists in one tournament, things are going to get destructive.'
As Naruto left, he didn't the scared yet concerned look sent his way by Luna. 'Just what has happened to you?' Luna thought to herself as Naruto rounded a corner. 'Your deck has so many different feelings coming from it. It is filled with anger, hate, and pain. But I feel sorrow most of all from it.'
As Naruto made his way to the duelist resting area, he nearly reached into a small group. He was about to apologize to them before he stopped and narrowed his eyes angrily. "Sayer," Naruto gritted out as he clenched his teeth.
"Ah yes the young man that has caused quite a stir," the man known as Sayer began with a smirk. "I must say that your Shadow Beast deck is really interesting and you yourself was quite powerful on your own. Yes and your powers were most interesting indeed." Next to Sayer was Wolfe and two other people that were identified as Arcadia Movement members.
"If you don't back away from me right now Sayer," Naruto said angrily as he glared at the group, his eyes glowing slightly. "I'll make you do so. I have told you before I want nothing to do with your little so called movement."
"And look at how far you have gotten with your powers without us," Sayer replied in a calm tone after stopping Wolfe from stepping up. "You can only summon certain cards instead of your entire deck. If you join us, then you could learn to truly harness your gifts."
"And become a mindless drone to do your bidding," Naruto said as he took a step back with a darker glare. "I'm not anyone's tool or weapon Sayer. You can keep your weapons, but leave my powers out of it as I want nothing to do with you." 'I won't be someone's little pawn, never again!'
"It seems you can't be reasoned with right now," Sayer said with a disappointed tone and his hands in his pocket. "We will meet again Naruto and I hope that your eyes will be more open by that time. The Arcadia Movement always welcomes in lost lambs." Sayer and his group then walked around Naruto, not before Wolfe gave the young blonde another hard glare before they vanished around the corner.
"More like lambs to the slaughter in your case," Naruto mumbled under his breath hatefully as he tries to calm his rising anger. "Damn brainwashing bastard, I can't wait to make you get what's coming to you." With that, Naruto made his way downstairs to observe the rest of the duels.
-15 Minutes Later-
Naruto sat on the ledge of the lower railings having been bored and watched a turbo duel between Yusei and a man named Hunter Pace. Apparently Hunter took the spot of Yusei's original opponent, Shroud, in an attempt to duel Jack Atlas. In the end, Yusei won the duel and it enough to excite Naruto for a match against either one.
After words he left and came back in time to catch the middle of a duel between the real Luna and a man they were calling The Professor, who was also a hypnotist. It was strange to Naruto because he seemed like Luna was not all there, like she was being controlled.
'It's almost like she's, hypnotized!' Naruto realized with wide eyes. 'That bastard is messing with her mind! He's no better than that bastard Sayer, playing with people's heads for their own purpose!' Naruto turned his head to Yusei who was calling out to Luna, trying to get her to snap out of it. 'I know she's hypnotized , but how far gone are they?'
He was still shocked that even while being in her hypnotic state, Luna was still able to duel back and do surprisingly well. Countering as best as she could while also keeping her monsters on the board. In the end though, the duel ended in a draw where Luna burned both of their life points down to zero.
The Professor stood still, but Luna began to collapse and would have hit the ground if Naruto did not run up and catch her in time.
"Don't worry Luna, I got you," Naruto whispered as he had her arm slung over his shoulder. As he began to walk, Yusei walked up to them.
"Is she alright?" the young turbo duelist asked, getting the blonde to nod.
"Yeah it seems whatever trance she was in took a lot out of her," Naruto replied as he handed her to the older duelist. As they passed the unmoving professor, Naruto could not help but glare at him as he hated people like him.
When he heard cheering, Naruto turned to see Luna was back on her feet and waving happily to the crowd. The blonde released a sigh of relief, as he was worried that the professor's mind games would have caused some mental damage to her.
'Though it does beg the question,' Naruto as he followed behind the two duelists unnoticed. 'What was the professor looking for exactly and why target Luna? Maybe there more to her than just her cute face.'
When Naruto entered the duelist area, he took notice of Luna and Yusei talking.
"By the way Yusei," Luna began with a small smile to the older duelist. "Thank you for helping me out back there."
"Your welcome but it isn't me you should be thanking," Yusei replied confusing the girl. "The one to catch you was the blonde haired kid that we met earlier. So, you should honestly be thanking him instead of me."
'Blonde haired boy?' Luna thought before realizing who he meant. "Do you mean Naruto?"
"Yeah it was me," Naruto gaining both of their attention. "I was up close, watching your duel and merely did what anyone would have done to help. By the way, you were great out there and I would love to have a match against you one day." Naruto gave Luna the biggest grin possible, excited to duel a strong opponent.
"Than….thank you Naruto," Luna replied with a shy blush on her cheeks. 'He was concerned for me, that's so sweet of him.'
"It was my pleasure, Naruto replied with a smile that made her blush deepen. "We should probably go since it should finally announce the next duel match up.
-Night Time-
Naruto sat by on his rooms balcony, looking over his cards while enjoying the cool night air. 'So, we finally found two of the five Signer Dragons,' Naruto thought.
' Yes,' a deep, smooth voice replied in his mind. ' We have found Red Dragon Archfiend and Black Rose Dragon. Most likely those two duelist are also Signers of the Crimson Dragon.'
"The problem is that I have been able to face them yet," Naruto replied as he pulled out a card from his Extra Deck. "I have to get through my next match against a guy named Reginald. From what I saw in his last duel, he uses a Warrior type synchro deck. In the end though, we will win and show those followers of the Crimson Dragon the power of a true monster."
Naruto got a resounding roar in response before he made his way into his room, ready to sleep for his next duel. He did not take notice of a man watching him from below before he too vanished into the darkness of the nearby alley.
'What are you hiding child?' the small man thought. 'Tomorrow's duel should hopefully push you to reveal yourself.'
-Time Skip-
"And we are back," the announcer yelled as the crowd cheered happily at the continuation of the tournament. "That action packed duel between Yusei and Greiger may have led to Greiger having some mental issue but let's pick up the exciting mood of the match."
The first duel of the second round of the Fortune Cup was a Turbo Duel between Yusei and Greiger. While it was a close match, Yusei ended up the victor. Unfortunately this led to Greiger making a statement about how Director Goodwin caused the destruction of Greiger's village due to him trying to revive the Crimson Dragon.
The machine caused a huge meltdown which caused a massive explosion that destroyed everything in its path. Nothing was left, no structures or any forms of life. Griger vowed vengeance and tried to run his Duel Runner into Goodwin by using the walls of the stadium track, but he was stopped by Yusei.
A speech was then given about how Greiger snapped from his loss in the duel against Yusei and he will be given the help he needs. While the public just bought what was being said, Naruto didn't believe Rex Goodwin one bit. After all, Naruto knew that the Stars of Illiaster existed in the shadows after one tried to recruit him and they ways tried to harness the Crimson Dragons power.
"Now put your hands together," the announcer continued with more enthusiasm as he yelled loudly into his microphone. "First up is the duelist of history! He's studied humans and warriors of old, from the past to the present. Put your hands together for Reginald McArthur!"
The crowd cheered loudly as a man in his late 20's walked onto the duel field. The man had long blonde hair that stopped on his shoulder ages with a single bang that covered his right eye. He wore an overcoat that was silver that had a long tail and high collar. He wore deep blue button up shirt, with dark blue dress up pants. On his feet were black dress-up shoes with golden laces. On his left arm was the standard duel disk that was white in color. His left hip held a long sword with a red hands in a black sheath.
"And dueling hum is the pint sized duelist! The duelist that uses the dark to duel in the light! A deck that is unique and still unknown to us all! Naruto Uzumaki!"
As Naruto walked toward the duel field, his left eye twitching ay being called 'pint-sized'. 'Who does he think he is making fun of someone's appearance,' Naruto thought angrily. 'He has a damn pomperderm for goodness sake.'
As Naruto and Reginald shook hands, the man smiled at the smaller blonde. "Let's give this duel all we got," the man said as Naruto nodded. "Let's leave all we got on the duel field."
"I got it," Naruto said as he walked to his side of the field. "Just don't be surprised when I win!"
"DUEL!" the two yelled simultaneously.
"The first turn is mine!" Reginald yelled out as he drew his first card. "I'll start it off with a Spell card known as Foolish Burial, which allows me to send one monster in my Deck to my graveyard. Now, because I control no monsters on my field, I can Special Summon this. My Junk Forward in Defense mode!"
The Warrior type monster hit the field as he skated forward out of the blue portal and spun around before kneeling in front of Reginald, crossing its arms across its chest and turning entirely blue.

"No way, I thought only Yusei used the Junk monster line!" Luna yelled out in shock and worry for Naruto. She has seen the way a Junk Deck could be used when Yusei dueled and knew it would be tough. She couldn't help but feel some care for the blonde duelist, he's been so nice so far.
"No offense to Yusei," Tanner replied as he watched the duel closely. "The Junk cards are pretty much a basic Deck of cards and not hard to come by or even use. It's no surprise that someone has the same Deck as him. The question is, what is in his Extra Deck as this guy no doubt has access to the stronger cards within the archetype."
'Please be careful Naruto,' Luna thought as she watched her new friend duel.
Back to the duel
"And thanks to me having Junk Forward on the field, I can Special Summon my Junk Servant to the field in Attack mode. Also I'm going to keep my monster company by summoning my Junk Changer to the field in Attack mode!"
Junk Servant LV 4 ATK: 1500 DEF: 1000 Earth- Warrior
Junk Changer LV 3 ATK: 1500 DEF: 900 Earth- Warrior- Tuner
"Now I activate my Junk Changer's effect which allows me to change a Junm monsters level by either increasing or decreasing it by one. So I will now decrease my Chnager's level by one, making him into a level two monster. Thanks to Junk Changer being a Tuner monster, I can now tune it with my level three Junk Forward to Synchro Summon my Catapult Warrior in Defense mode!"
Catapult Warrior LV 5 ATK: 1000 DEF: 1500 Eath- Warrior
"That's a pretty sweet looking monster," Naruto said with a smile, excited at the skill the combo took.
"If you thought that was pretty cool," Reginald smirked at his opponent. "Then your going to love his effect which I'm using now. By releasing my Junk Servant and sending it to my graveyard, I can inflict for damage equal to its original ATK. So, go my warrior!"
Junk Servant jumped onto Catapult Warrior's platform before being shot at Naruto, who rose his duel disk to shield his face from the explosive impact.
Naruto- 4000-1500= 2500
"And Reginald has struck Naruto hard," the announcer called out as the audience cheered. "First turn and Naruto has almost lost half of his life points! How will he counter?"
"Now I'll lay a card facedown and end my turn," Reginald said as he set the card. "Your move Naruto."
(Reginald- 1 card in hand, 1 facedown card, 1 monster on field)
"Alright I'm up and ill draw," Naruto began as he drew a card. "I'll start things off by summoning my good friend, Shadow Beast Wolf into Attack mode."
A shadow mist formed onto the field before it merged together to create a quadrapedal body. The creature stood on its four legs proudly as its pitch black fur waved to and fro. It had razor sharp teeth like one would expect from a wolf. Throughout its body was orange cracks going from its eyes all the way down to its feet and tail, which had an orange tip. It's eyes were a deep orange with a red pupil.
Shadow Beast Wolf LV4 ATK: 1800 DEF: 1000 Dark- Beast
"Now, I'll activate the card, Shadow Beast Hunting! This spell works like this, u have to tribute my monster and that's when it gets really cool."
Naruto's monster turned into black mist once more before it rushed towards Reginalds field and encircled the monster.
"What is going on?!" Reginald yelled out in alarm before he looked in shock as when the mist cleared, his monster was gone too. "What happened to my monster?"
"Simple, it was thanks to my Spell card," Naruto replied. "By tributing my monster, I can destroy all monster you control whose ATK is equal to or less than the monster I sacrificed. Problem is for each destroyed monster, I lose three hundred life points. Since you only had one, then it's worth it."
Naruto- 2500-300= 2200
"Now I'll play the card Relief of the Beast which if you remember, helps me gain life points by returning A Shadow Beast monster in my graveyard back to deck. Which I'll do so with the only monster in my grave, Shadow Beast Wolf!"
Naruto- 22001800= 4000
"Now I'll play the spell, Shadow Beast Schematics! This card, if you remember, will allow me to add a Shadow Beast monster from my deck to my hand. But I'm going to utilize the other part of my spell to Special Summon my chosen monster to pay life points equal to its ATK. So come to the field, Shadow Beast Eagle!"
Out came a monster that was just a bit taller than Naruto with a seven foot wingspan. It's feathers were the usual pitch black, but it had blue cracks running throughout its body. It had blue eyes along with a red pupil center. It's beak was also blue in color.
Shadow Beast Eagle LV2 ATK: 1000 DEF: 300 Dark- Winged Beast
Naruto- 4000-1000= 3000
"Go Eagle, attack Reginald directly with Shadowing Dive!" The monster screeched loudly as it took off into the air, ready to deliver its attack.
"Not so fast, I activate my trap, Shapesister!" Reginald countered as the card became a silver monster on his side of the field before turning blue. "This special Trap card now becomes a monster on my side of the field. Now to get to my life points you have to destroy my monster."
Shapesister LV2 ATK: 0 DEF: 0 Earth- Fiend- Tuner
"I may lose my monster, but at least my life points will be safe.'
Naruto smirked at the fact that his plan had worked. 'I got him to use his facedown and it's a card that won't help him here.' "Hate to burst your bubble, but that trap will have no effect on my attack." His words shocked and confused Reginald before Naruto continued.
"You see, my Shadow Beast Eagle has the nifty little ability to bypass your monster and attack you directly. So, go and continue your attack!"
Naruto's monster was surrounded by a black mist as it rushed at the shocked Reginald before it slammed into him.
Reginald- 4000- 1000= 3000
"I will continue my turn by activating Shadow Beast Eagle's other effect! By paying life points equal to half of his attack, I can draw one card." The cracks on Naruto's monster glowed as the card on top of Naruto's deck glowed the same color before he drew it. "Now I'll lay down two facedown cards to end my turn."
(Naruto- 1 monster on the field, 2 facedowns, 1 card in hand)
"Guess I'll start my move!" Reginald drew as he watched his hand closely. "First, since I now control a Tuner monster, which my Shapesister is, I can summon my Quilbolt Hedgehog from my graveyard in Defense position!"
Quilbolt Hedgehog LV2 ATK: 800 DEF: 800 Earth- Machine
"If your curious where he came from, it was the monster I sent away due to Foolish Burial earlier. Now, I'll summon from my hand my Junk Anchor to the field in Attack mode!"
Junk Anchor LV2 ATK: 0 DEF: 0 Earth- Warrior- Tuner
"He may seem underwhelming but I have other uses for him. I activate his ability which requires me to discard a card, but it will allow me to summon a 'Junk' monster from my graveyard. So return, Junk Servant!"
The monster appeared next to Junk Anchor, standing tall as it awaited orders. "Due to this summon I can immediately Synchro Summon using these two monsters, so I tune my level 2 Junk Anchor with my level 4 Junk Servant to Synchro Summon my Mighty Warrior in Attack mode!"
The monster appeared in a bright flash of light as it slammed its huge metallic fist into the ground.
Mighty Warrior LV6 ATK: 2300 DEF: 2000 Earth- Warrior
"But I'm not done so I'll tune my level 2 Quilbolt Hedgehog with level 2 Shapesister so I can Synchro Summon again!" Quilbolt Hedgehog jumped up as Shapesister turned into glowing rings and surrounded the orange monster that turned into light.
"Warrior who fights in the lands of underworld, rise to the this world as an ultimate fighter!
I Synchro Summon Underworld Fighter Balmung!"
The monster in black and silver armor appeared as it rose its giant sword onto its shoulder.
Underworld Fighter Balmung LV4 ATK: 2100 DEF: 800 Dark- Warrior

"Oh wow, two powerful Synchro Summons in one swift move!" Leo cheered as he watched the duel. "They just keep going back and forth with each other. Man I'm so hyped!"
"Yeah but it looks like Naruto is in a bad spot now," Dexter replied as he too was enjoying the match. "His monster only has one thousand Attack and has to face off against two very powerful monsters."
"But he may have a plan to deal with that," Luna defended. "I mean look, he laid down two facedown cards."
"The problem is, so did his opponent," Tanner replied, gaining their attention. "Even if Naruto played a card, like say Mirror Force, it would cause his Underworld Fighter Belmung effect to activate and allow him to summon a level 4 or lower monster from his graveyard. So either way, his monster will be history."
"I wonder if he prepared for that one," Mr. Miyagi replied as he looked back to the duel. "He may be hit hard."
"Come on Naruto," Luna whispered as she prayed for Naruto's victory. "You can do this."
Back to the duel
"Now I attack with Mighty Warrior," Reginald commanded. "Destroy Shadow Beast Eagle with Mighty Crush!"
"Not so fast!" Naruto began as he waved his hand. "I activate my trap, Shadow Beast Darkness Veil. If you attack while I control a Shadow Beast monster, then I can negate your attack and draw a card."
"Fine then stop my second attack," Reginald taunted as he smirked. " Underworld Fighter Balmung, destroy his Shadow Beast Eagle." The dark warrior rushed forward as it slashed through Naruto's monster, causing it to cry out before it was destroyed.
Naruto- 3000- 1100= 1900
"Your turn now young man," Reginald said, confident in his powerful monsters.
(Reginald- 2 monsters, 0 facedowns, 0 cards in hand)
Naruto wordlessly drew his next card, being careful to think over his next move. "I guess you gave me your Synchro play," Naruto said as he grabbed a card. "It's only fair that you mine.".
"But your Minotaur will not he able to help you here," Reginald replied. "Even with his effect, it will be destroyed no matter what."
Naruto smirked, "Good thing I'm not summoning him then," he replied. " I summon to the field my Shadow Beast Tiger!" From the blue portal, Naruto's monster took to the board.
The tiger was big, twice as big Naruto himself was. It had the traditional black fur of the Shadow Beast monster gimmick and its cracks on its body were silver in color. The tiger's eyes were a menacing silver with red pupils. It gave a menacing growl as it stood in front of Naruto.
Shadow Beast Tiger LV 4 ATK: 1600 DEF: 900 Dark- Beast
"But before you get too excited seeing my friend here be weaker than your monster, I will activate his special effect. When he's been normal summoned successfully, I can pay life points equal to half of his Attack which will allow me to gain a Dark Tiger Token!"
Naruto's monster roared loudly as the sliver crack glowed brightly and a dark mist separated from his body and formed into a purely black tiger with silver eyes and no pupils.
Dark Tiger Token LV2 ATK: 800 DEF: 800
"So where is this Synchro play of yours?" Reginald asked in slight worry and curiosity. As a Synchro duelist, he knows that spamming monsters like Naruto just did could lead for trouble for the opponent.
"The play is set thanks to my token," Naruto replied, confusing no only his opponent, but the crowd as well. "You see, my token is actually a unique one as it is also treated as a Tuner monster!" Reginald's eyes widened as he realized what was about to happen. "I tune my Shadow Beast Tiger with my Dark Tiger Token to Synchro Summon the flames that will illuminate the skies!"
The token burst into rings that encircled Shadow Beast Tiger before it burst into a pillar of light.
"May the dark flames of the darkened stars give birth to the forever living flames! Burn bright within the shadows of that fire. I Synchro Summon the Dark Star Phoenix!"
When the light faded away, it revealed a bird that was just a head shorter than Dark Star Minotaur. The creature had black flames that covered its body from head to its talons. It's beak was a deep red that had smoke wafting from it. It's eyes were a deep blue that had wisps of blue flames coming from it. The pupil of the bird was in the shape of a black star.
Dark Star Pheonix LV 6 ATK: 2300 DEF: 1900
With a loud screech, the black flames of the bird spread about as its eyes glowed brightly.
"I've seen a lot of monsters in my time narrating duels," the announcer said in shock. "But I have never seen a beast as intimidating as this one. It's amazing."
"Now I activate my monster's ability," Naruto continued. "When my monster is successfully summoned, I can target a Shadow Beast monster in my graveyard and you get hit with damage. One for each of its Attack points! And the one I am going to pick is my Shadow Beast Tiger."
Dark Star Phoenix screeched as the flames on its wings burst to life as wisps of fire encircled it. It spread its wings to the side, releasing a wave of black fire that rammed into Reginald who grunted in pain.
Reginald- 3000-1600= 1400
"I'm still standing Naruto," Reginald said as he gripped his deck. "And on my next turn, I win." Naruto smirked , undeterred by his opponents words.
"I'm well aware," Naruto replied. "But it doesn't mean I'll be going down so easy. Now go, attack his Underworld Fighter Belmung with Falling Dark Star!"
Dark Star Phoenix gathered a ball of black fire before it released it in a stream. It's target cried out in pain before it was destroyed.
Reginald- 1400-200= 1200
"That's all for my turn," Naruto said with a small smile. 'I can't get too cocky, he thought to himself as he glanced at Mighty Warrior.
"My turn and I draw," Reginald said as he drew his card. "I activate the Spell card known as Tuning which will allow me to add a Synchron monster from my Deck to my hand. Thanks to Tuning, I'll add Jet Synchron to my hand. The downside of my Spell will require me to discard the top card of my Deck to the graveyard."
Reginald removed the top card and put it in the graveyard slot of his duel disk, not at all bothered by it. "Now I'll summon my Jet Synchron to the field in Defense mode. Don't worry about it for long though as I now combine my two monsters together! I tune my two monsters together and Synchro Summon one of my favorite monsters, Lightning Warrior!"
The synchro process happened as the two monsters were covered in a bright flash of light as the new monster appeared in their place, lightning crackling around it.
Lightning Warrior LV 7 ATK: 2400 DEF: 1200
"Also since I used Jet Synchron for synchro material, I am able to add a Synchron monster from my Deck to my hand." He pulled a card from his Deck as he continued his turn. "I am going to now wipe you out! Lightning Warrior attack his Dark Star Phoenix with Lightning Field!"
Lightning Warrior cackled with more violent electricity before it struck forward and struck the phoenix, causing a massive explosion.
"And thanks to my warrior's special ability, when he destroys a monster by battle you will lose 300 life points for each and every card that is in your hand."
When the smoke cleared, everyone was surprised to find out that Dark Star Phoenix was still on the field while glaring at the warrior.
"How is your monster still on the field?" Reginald asked in confusion. "My monster is more powerful!"
"It was thanks to my Shadow Beast Schematics sitting in my graveyard," Naruto explained. "I can banish it from the grave and protect one Dark monster I have out from being destroyed. Don't worry though, I'm still going to take the Battle Damage from the attack."
Naruto- 1900-100= 1800
Audience
"I must admit that Naruto is more impressive than I gave him credit for," Tanner said which gained the rest of his group's attention. "He's had that card in the graveyard for several turns now and could have used that protection effect to save any of his other monsters. Instead though he waited until he needed it, meaning that he may be starting to make his big move."
"I wonder what he mat have planned," Dexter wondered as leaned forward. "He has been put into a rough spot as he who knows what card Reginald added to his hand. That's always bad news when your playing against a deck that specializes in Synchro Summoning."
"Naruto will do fine," Luna replied as she looked from Dexter to the duel. "He has a plan and it all beings with that phoenix."
To the duel
"I guess I'll have no choice," Reginald began. "I end my turn." Naruto nodded as he began his turn.
Reginald- 1 card in hand, 1 monster, 0 Spells/Traps
"Use me Naruto," a voice spoke out in Naruto's mind. "It's time that I show my presence to not just these fools, but the Signer Dragons as well."
"If you say so" Naruto whispered before his eyes gained a sharper glint to them. "First off, I am going to activate my Spell and return my Eagle to gain back some of my Life Points!"
Naruto- 18001000= 2800
"Now I summon to the field, Shadow Beast Panther in Attack position! Though he won't stay around for long because I use his secondary ability to tribute himself and advance summon Shadow Beast Bear." Like before, Panther burst into black mist and the bear took its place. "Now I will summons the beast known as Shadow Beast Owl."
The owl flew in circles before landing next to Naruto, who smiled at the bird. "I will use his special ability to target my Shadow Beast Bear to gain a bit more life."
Just like it had done earlier before, Shadow Beast Owl turned to Shadow Beast Bear as silver lights came off and into the owl's mouth. He then released the particles towards Naruto making him gain a warm smile on his face.
Naruto- 28002300= 5100
"And now Naruto has gone all the way back up to full power," the announcer called out to the audience. "With him in such a position, the match is all but finished."
"Now, I am going to show you something amazing," Naruto said in a more serious tone. "For this very fun duel, I'll reward you with the first to duel my Deck's Ace in this tournament. I'll tune my level 3 Shadow Beast Owl with my level 5 Shadeo Beast Bear." Bear roared loudly and jumped up as Shadow Beast Owl cried and surrounded its partner in synchro rings.
"When the stars that lost their light fall to the Earth, the core of the dark star gains life and give way to an unstoppable beast! I Synchro Summon my decks ruler, Dark Star Dragon!"
From the flash of light, the new beast descended to the ground slowly with a menacing glare. The beast had four thin, lightly torn wings that were folded across its body. The wings snapped open, creating a powerful shockwave that revealed the rest of the dragon. The dragon had a bipedal body that was primarily black with silver stripes that lined its body. It had a long head and snout with two black horns that pointed backwards. It's claws were silver and sharp while having a mid-size length. It had two rows of black spines that lined its back and two long tails that arched like a saber. It's eyes were silver with slit pupils.
Dark Star Dragon LV8 ATK: 3000 DEF: 2700
"Amazing, that is the most amazing dragon that I have ever seen," the announcer gasped out in shock. "And with 3000 ATK, you can bet we are about to see an attack."
"The announcer guy is far from wrong because my dragon is going to do some major damage. Dark Star Dragon go on in and attack Lightning Warrior with Dark Falling Star!"
Dark Star Dragon gathered a ball of pitch black energy that streamed before he fired a ball of energy that rushed at his target. The moment the attack hit, Lightning Warrior cried out in pain before being destroyed.
Reginald- 1200-600= 600
"This duel was fun, but all good things have to end and I will not risk a recovery. Dark Star Phoenix, burn away the rest of his life points. Flame of Shadows!"
Dark Star Phoenix gathered the black flames once more before firing the powerful flames at Reginald.
Reginald- 600-2300= 0
"And that is all!" The announcer cried out. "The winner is the duelist from the shadows. The tiny dark titan, Naruto!" The crowd cheered loudly in excitement before everyone was silenced by a loud, powerful roar. Dark Star Dragon roared loudly, so loudly everyone had to cover their ears. Even the likes of Goodwin, Lazar, and Jack who were behind glass had to cover their ears.
Jack Atlas flinched in pain as his Mark of the Dragon glowed brightly. He tried to ease the pain by holding it with his other hand, but couldn't.
Yusei grunted in pain as he gripped his arm, as his Mark of the Dragon glowed bright as well. 'Does Naruto have a mark as well?!' he thought as he tried to control the pain.
Luna cried out in pain, gaining her friends and brothers attention, as her own Mark of the Dragon glowed too.
Unknown to others, Akiza squeezed her arm as well as she glared at her glowing Mark of the Dragon.
Naruto smiled at his Dragon as it roared before it finally died down. As it did so, the sharp look in his eyes calmed down.
" I'll be coming for you," Dark Star Dragon said, though only Naruto understood what was said. " I can't wait to crush you all with our might!"
"And crush you we will gladly do," Dark Star Phoenix stated in a feminine and elegant tone. " We will gladly do. I will burn you all to cinders. Ancient Fairy Dragon, if you can hear me, I'll be coming for you."
With that, both monsters vanished aa they both returned to the confines of their cards.
Naruto chuckled lightly as he walked up to the defeated Reginald and shook hand with the older man. "That was a really fun duel," he said with a wide grin. "Can't wait to duel you again."
"Fine by me," Reginald replied with a challenging smirk. "When we meet again though, I'll wall away the victor kid." The two duelist walked away from each other.
Naruto never noticed that the people watching him closely were members of the Arcadia Movement, namely Sayer and his right hand Wolf. Sayer was looking at Naruto with a calm greediness that he has used for years.
"He really is a remarkably skilled young man,' Sayer said as he gazed at Naruto's back. "Those beasts of his are quite powerful. He will be a great addition to the Arcadia Movement and he too will benefit from our assistance."
"That maybe so," Wolf replied as her eyes narrowed. "He has made his feelings and thoughts clear of our movement. As wrong and twisted they maybe, how do you plan to change them and make him see reason?"
'A better question would be how he knows so much about us?' Sayer thought to himself. 'I have covered my tracks too well for some child to just figure it out and the real purpose of my movement so easily.' "I planned to have him see things through the only thing he seems to actually respond to, a duel."
"So you want me to duel against him?" Wolf asked, actually wanting to crush Naruto a bit for his words against Sayer and the Arcadia Movement.
"Depending on who goes first to be honest," Sayer replied with a confident smirk as he looked to the beautiful woman beside him. "It will be either you or our wonderful Rose. Either way, he will see the beauty and power of our movement."
AN: And that is the end of this chapter! Honestly this chapter was much longer than I expected it to be but I am happy at how this duel came out. Reginald maybe a recurring character but I am honestly not sure get. Either way, the Ace of the Shadow Beast deck has been introduced while other dark monsters have yet to be revealed. I hope you all at least enjoyed it. I hope that you all enjoyed it and I will see you all next time.
