The Bonds That Tie

To muggles, the kind of night Severus and Harry had would have been considered magical. But since Harry and Severus lived in a world of magic, the only word to describe their day and night was nothing short of incredible. Both as vampires, both with amazing stamina; it seemed endless and their bond made it feel great. Making love on its own felt good, but mixed with the fact they were soulmates, both vampires? The bond became so much stronger with them being the same now, plus the acceptance of their status. In everything they did, Harry never marked Severus; he was saving it for last. Given the two didn't need sleep, there were just breaks in between where they could cuddle up stark nude and kiss or talk. Harry did make sure Severus kept drinking, though; he needed to get his strength up with a full feed and it worked better to do it in segments. The arousal was crazy, never stopping for too long and obviously they had charms up so no one would hear anything. Severus saw the difference in sex from when he was human to now, how much better it was that they could go all out with Harry not risking to hurt Severus in the strength difference. It was fantastic, but sadly, would have to come to an end this morning. It was about thirty minutes away from the twenty-four hour mark where they'd have to exit and join everyone else.

The two had just finished having sex again, still connected with Harry's cock in Severus's butt. Harry was nuzzling Severus's neck lightly while keeping his thrusts very light.

"Oh God…Harry," Severus moaned.

"No God right now, just me," Harry told him gently, stealing another kiss.

"I never thought it'd be possible," Severus said afterward.

"What? Turning into a vampire? Having sex all the time without getting tired?" Harry asked.

"Being this happy again." Severus told him. "I used to be…When your mother was alive, and we were best friends."

"You loved my mom, don't deny it." Harry chuckled. "I won't hold it against you. We already established that this, us, was meant to be."

"No, I think the love I had for her was actually just because she's your mother, Harry…" Severus admitted softly as Harry looked at him. "The universe knew something I didn't. I was close to her because of you. We were best friends, and I did love her…But just a couple years later when we'd had the falling out, I joined Voldemort until I learned about a child born that would vanquish the dark lord. You. Everything I did was what I thought because I loved your mother. It wasn't her…It was you. You're right…Against everything we ended up together. Bonded, soon to be mated. We're meant to be. I was in your mother's life because of you, even if you weren't born yet. I love your mom as a friend, but I don't love her the way I love you."

Harry stared at Severus a few moments. "You…Love me?"

"I do. Entirely. Everything we've been through, I refuse to ignore what's right in front of me, Harry. You're my soulmate…I'm not gonna sit here and deny myself what I've realized. I love you…" Severus confessed.

Harry smiled and leaned over to capture the man's lips again. "I love you too. I don't know when or where, but one day…I just saw you differently. Maybe it's when you and I talked, when you said you didn't mind being tethered to me forever…When we realized that we've always been in each other's lives. But I love you…I felt it a while back, but didn't want to say anything while we were still kind'a getting to know one another."

"You don't have to explain it to me. I did react pretty badly to learning we bonded after that one night." Severus told him. "It doesn't matter anymore, we're together forever, Harry. Bonded mates. I'm yours. You are mine. And I love you."

"I love you too, Sev." Harry replied. "I feel the same. We are bonded, but not mated yet."

"Don't waste any more time then. Mark me…" Severus panted. "But I get to do it back," He added.

"I'd never deny you, love," Harry purred almost before he adjusted a little and bit down on his lover's neck. Of course, Harry had fun, drinking some of the blood, but not much. All it did was cause Severus to moan out, and his cock hardened almost instantly. Harry pulled off a few moments later, licking the trails of blood and smiling down at the puncture marks that remained in place.

"Merlin, Harry…" Severus sighed. Harry shifted to lean over and kiss his lover gently, then tilt his head so Severus had access to his neck.

"Go ahead," Harry invited, reaching his hand over to stroke Severus's length. Severus moaned again, but bit down on his husband's neck on drinking a little and then letting go like Harry had done. "We're officially bonded mates…" He revealed.

"It feels great…" Severus said as they kissed again.

"Still craving more?" Harry asked.

"Yes…" Severus nodded. "Do we have to go back out?" Severus asked.

"I said twenty-four hours." Harry reminded.

"They're fine." Severus stared into his eyes.

Harry smiled some as he kissed Severus once more, then pulled back to admire the man's red eyes. Harry used his fingers to move some of Severus's hair out of his face, then cupped the man's cheek. "You're so beautiful…" Harry whispered. "I still can't get over that this, you…Mine forever." He admitted.

"Get used to it. We've got forever," Severus told him.

"Indeed we do…" Harry nodded. "Now, come on…We have to go back out there."

"No, we can stay like this for a bit longer." Severus relaxed. "Sleep a bit."

"You know we don't sleep unless weakened." Harry reminded. "They'll never buy it. In fact, Draco will probably smell what we've been doing."

"I don't care. I'm comfortable and enjoying this." Severus snuggled up closer. "It's your house, who is gonna argue with us hiding away for a couple more hours?"

"No one, but still." Harry smiled. "Alright, I guess we can hang here for a bit longer." He finally agreed. "How about I fix that itch you need scratching?"

"Please?" Severus asked.

"And here I thought I was the bad influence. Look at you, trying to weasel your way out of responsibilities." Harry laughed.

"Shut up and fuck me, Potter!" Severus demanded.

"As you wish, love," Harry shifted to push Severus on his back and lean in kiss him deeply.

. . .

A couple hours turned into more and it was about 6:30 pm when Harry and Severus finally came out of their room and located everyone sitting in the family room together. Harry and Severus had their hands linked while coming into sight; right away everyone looked to see the newly transformed vampire that was Severus. The man had red eyes, paler skin, and his hair was neater, but longer in back and shorter on the sides. It all went together quite nicely, effortless and didn't look like it had been styled that way. Severus wore his same black pants and shoes, but only the white button down short, slightly unbuttoned at the top so to leave his neck and part of his chest visible. In plain sight, the bite marks from Harry were shown on the left side of Severus's neck. The younger vampire's eyes were normal silver-green, wearing a loose black shirt that had some frill around the wrists and up around the collar and down the middle of the buttons. Harry wore black pants and boots. Also, Harry too, was sporting a mark on the left side of his neck.

"Guess there were some effects to keep you locked down longer?" Bellatrix mentioned first.

"Oh yes. Severus was quite tired through his transition and as he wasn't feeding from a vein, it took longer to complete the transformation." Harry informed. "I've already reported it to Sanguini and he's recorded it down for future use."

"Couldn't have been all sleeping, you both got marks on your necks." Draco snickered.

"Of course. The bond got stronger when I turned him, so we finished the mating rituals too. It didn't hit until this morning when we were gonna come out for breakfast." Harry stated. "All is well now, we're soul bonded and mated."

"Wonderful! Now you're truly mates." Narcissa smiled as she got up to hug Harry and then Severus, kissing the man's cold cheek. "Not that you haven't always been, Severus, but welcome to the family!"

"Thank you, Narcissa," Severus gave the woman a one-armed hug back.

"I-I can still call you Uncle Sev, right? You're basically married to my brother, that would make you my brother in law…" Draco inquired.

"Silly boy, my mating with Harry doesn't change that I'm your godfather and unofficial uncle. I was your godfather first and I always will be." Severus assured Draco calmly.

"Is your name changing? If it's basically marriage, then doesn't that make you Potter-Black-Malfoy?" Bellatrix questioned.

"No, I'm not taking all of Harry's extra names. We agreed on Prince-Potter." Severus remarked. "Once next year of school is over, I'll be leaving as a teacher anyway, I'll probably banish the Snape name altogether. I don't like the connection to my father, bastard that he was." He mumbled.

"More than fair." Lucius nodded.

"Have you told Sanguini that I'll be joining the coven, Harry?" Severus asked.

"Just this morning, love. He's very excited," Harry replied. "He said we can come a day early from the international vampire coven meeting and get you initiated into it."

"When did you do all this? We haven't left each other's sides for over twenty-four hours, when did you get in contact with him?" Severus blinked.

"Mind link, darling." Harry told him. "Vampires can do it with the ones they've created. But only them. It's a bit like Legilimency, but not forceful. I say his name in my mind, he hears it and the link opens. Or vice-versa."

"So I could do it with you since you turned me?" Draco arched a brow. Harry nodded. "Why did you contact Sanguini through the ring then?"

"So he would be able to apparate here." Harry informed. "The object you get when you join is more than your symbol of being part of the coven. It holds some pretty complex magic for everything it actually does."

"Does everyone get a ring?" Severus asked.

"No. You get your choice of ring, choker-like necklace, bracelet, or regular necklace. I chose ring because it was easier to hide from everyone under a glamour so you wouldn't ask questions about it." Harry stated.

"What type of complex magic?" Draco asked now.

"Your object connects you to the coven by magical signature. Multiple portkeys and alert magics. This can always take me to the coven's base if I use the activation phrase, but if they call me for help, the portkey will shift to take me wherever they happen to be. I can call Sanguini to me by putting my blood on the stone and calling to him with specific terms. I can call the entire coven to wherever I am with set terms too. With it latched onto my magical signature, Sanguini knows if I need blood and can't access it, or too weak, nearing a Bloodrage. It can sense if I need help but haven't been able to call to them." Harry said.

"What does flashing red mean?" Luna wondered softly.

Harry felt the ring heat slightly on his finger as he looked down. "That they're calling for help." He unlinked his fingers with Severus. "Be back soon, love you."

"Love you too. Be safe." Severus replied, not wanting Harry to go, but couldn't stop him. Harry stepped back.

"Where are you going?" Ron asked.

"I have to go to them and help." Harry replied as he spun the ring around so the gem was on the inside of his hand, then he closed his fist around it before disappearing from sight.

"You didn't stop him?" Voldemort stared at Severus.

"Don't see how I could have. If I were part of the coven now, I'm sure I would have had to go to." Severus responded.

"Did you two say Love You to one another just now?" Narcissa beamed.

"Yes…" Severus nodded. "We said it this morning after the mating bond was completed."

"So you love one another?" Bellatrix asked.

"We do." Severus grabbed an open seat and relaxed. "We talked about it this morning."

"Didn't you love his mother too?" Remus asked.

"Not in that way. Lily was my best friend, but I didn't love her romantically. I thought I did until our friendship broke, we went our separate ways. I joined the death eaters, she went on to marry James. I didn't feel anything towards her until I learned of the prophecy talking about a child born who would have the power to vanquish the dark lord. I knew Lily was pregnant, and after a couple years of not feeling anything; I wanted her safe. Not because I loved her, but because she was carrying Harry. We're soulmates, stands to reason that all the protection I wanted for Lily was actually because of Harry. It made more sense when we talked about this morning." Severus explained.

"The universe knew something you didn't." Narcissa smiled.

"That's what I told Harry. I told him I loved his mother as a friend, but not like I loved him. He said it back, that he felt it back after we talked and I agreed to become a vampire. After that is when the bond pulled us closer together to finish the mating ritual." Severus remarked.

"Aw, how sweet." Hermione and Luna giggled.

"See, we said that you could come to love him in time." Draco snickered.

"Shut up…Harry knows I closed my heart off after I lost his mother because that's when I still believed it was love for her, that I failed to protect her." Severus muttered.

"All is fine. What matters is that you and Harry have found love and happiness in one another forever," Alice spoke.

"Quite right." Narcissa agreed.

"What do we do until Harry gets back?" Neville questioned.

"Whatever, I suppose. Harry lets us have free reign here as long as we don't destroy his home." Pansy shrugged.

. . .

Hours had gone by, and it was about 10:00 pm and Harry still wasn't back from whatever he was doing with his coven. It must have been something major for him to be gone this long.

"I wonder what he's doing," Draco pondered. "Did the coven get attacked?"

"We don't know," Severus told his godson. "I don't think we're even supposed to know much about the coven unless we've joined it. Harry was probably allowed to tell us because of his position within their ranks, as Sanguini's second."

"So you'll be joining, Severus?" Voldemort inquired.

"No point not to," Severus responded. "I am Harry's mate, makes sense to join the coven he's part of. What of you, Draco? Will you?"

"I haven't decided…" Draco admitted.

"You should, my Dragon," Narcissa smiled softly. "Your father and I won't be around forever, none of us will. It's best if you have people around like you that you can't lose."

"Maybe you'll find your soulmate among them," Lucius offered. "Your mother is right, Draco. Join them…You heard Harry, rogue life can be lonely."

"Makes ya wonder how vampires fine their soulmate if they can't feed from one another." Ron stated. "Harry found Severus because he was still human and drawn to his blood, so if Draco's soulmate is already a vampire…How does that work?"

"I assume along the same lines of being drawn to one another." Severus enlightened. "If his soulmate is indeed already a vampire."

"I think your parents are right, Draco…You should join the coven. When we all die, you'll be very lonely with just Harry and Professor Snape." Luna said in a gentle voice.

"I suppose," Draco agreed. "Okay…I'll join the coven. I'll let Harry know when he gets back."

"It's gonna suck, isn't it?" Theodore asked. "Going through the years without your family?"

"Probably, but there's no real solution to that but to change your own family." Draco shrugged a bit.

"I don't think that's allowed," Hermione wondered. "Is it?"

"Changing your family so they live as you do?" Severus eyed her. "I don't know. Harry never mentioned."

"Never mentioned what?" Harry's voice came as he walked into the room.

"You're back." Severus stood to greet his mate, and Harry contently hugged the man and gave him a small kiss.

"I'm back," Harry nodded. "Sorry it took so long."

"What were you doing?" Voldemort asked.

"Things." Harry replied. "I'll tell you after. Now, what's all this about me not mentioning something?"

"Oh, Draco decided to join the coven, sweetheart." Narcissa informed lightly. "We were having a talk about the fact we'll all eventually die and he'd be lonely as a rogue. Well, assumingly, with you and Severus, but not the whole coven."

"Then wondered how much it sucked to outlive your family, and theorized if they could be turned to prevent that." Blaise said.

"No," Harry shook his head. "It's forbidden in our coven. You aren't allowed to go around changing whoever you want into a vampire simply because you don't want to lose them when they inevitably die as a mortal. I know that's harsh, but if that was allowed; there would be far more vampires than humans and since we're undead, we're already going against the way of life which is living and dying. We're right in between. There has to be life and death, it's the balance and it can have catastrophic outcomes if not kept to." He explained. "There are vampires out there who just go turning people at random, but that's because they are rogues; they don't adhere to vampire law. Most of the covens are in agreement that the only reasons to turn someone were life and death situations, like what Draco got turned for or the mating thing like Severus was changed."

"You got turned for no reason." Ron reminded.

"I am a byproduct of a vampire losing control. It happens, so that is another allowance to being changed. But simply allowing family to become vampires so you don't lose them? We can't have that. There has to be balance, and not every vampire who becomes one joins the coven because they don't like the rules and some just get a power high, killing humans to drain them. There has to be balance, there has to be order. There's a group in all covens that handle rogues when we come across them; they get one chance to join and if they refuse, we kill them. We can't have rogues roaming around who can't control themselves. It gives all vampires a bad name and we're trying to fix that reputation. Some rogues are fine, some just go about leading as normal a life they can…But others don't feel that way, and we have to get rid of them." Harry informed.

"I understand," Draco nodded.

"I know it's not easy to wrap your head around, allowing it to happen when the time comes. It's hard to lose the ones you love, but it's the way of life and death." Harry told him. "Sometimes families change their members for emergent, or keeping them from ending up alone, like sibling pairs. Tessa and Cain from a few days ago, Tessa was the product of a rogue vampire just hunting, but had killed the rest of her family. So she got permission from Sanguini, who had followed the scent of blood, to turn her brother so they wouldn't be separated. There are some whole families there because the parents were changed and didn't want to lose their kids. So there are reasons and allowances to the law…But in this case, it wouldn't be allowed.

"What if, for example, Mr. or Mrs. Malfoy was fatally wounded…Would it be allowed then?" Neville asked. "That's what happened to Draco; he got hurt and was dying then you changed him."

"It's also choice. You didn't see me change him right away, I asked his parents, they gave me the okay. And Draco had accepted his fate until the option was made available. I said it more than once, I wouldn't just change someone for the fuck of it." Harry stated. "I'm not sure on the rules as far as emergency transformations. I suppose it would depend if they wanted to be saved and were at a point in life where their death wouldn't have been considered fair. Draco's hadn't been, he jumped in front of something meant for me when there hadn't been a need to because I would have survived. If I'd been hit, Sanguini probably would have come to me instead of me calling him for Draco." He shrugged. "I don't know. The rules are weird and there's tons."

"It's okay, Harry…I understand. But thanks for clarifying." Draco smiled.

"So you gonna tell us why you were gone so long?" Severus questioned.

"Dumbledore fucked up and I got to watch it live and in person." Harry chuckled.

"What did he do?" Voldemort inquired.

"Made the mistake of attacking one of our hunting groups, and got himself arrested. His wand has been taken and he's sitting locked up at the ministry with cuffs enchanted to block all magical ability while awaiting arraignment." Harry informed. "Plan is right on schedule."
