Learning The Keys Locations

Now we have moved onto the next chapter my friends! After what happened back at the sanctuary, they learned from an injured bandit that their leader has a book that contains the locations of the keys to unlock Jair's hidden tomb. RDJ and Lila's marriage is having a lot of problems. But now they will be chasing down the bandit leader to find the book that they need to learn the locations of the ancient keys to unlock the door. So without further explanations, let's get right to it!

RDJ and Lila went back out the way they came into the tunnel, and had to put their hoods back up as the cold weather only began to get stronger. So the couple didn't want to freeze to death.

The blue and gold male motioned with his wing for his wife to follow him, as they flew up to what looked like a watch tower on the far end of the sanctuary.

"HEY! ASSASSIN! YOU SHOULDN'T…ACKKKKAAAAaaa…" A guard immediately noticed both of them arriving, and RDJ threw a throwing knife at his eye. Killing the guard instantly, before landing just on top of the platform, overlooking the road on the outside. Which seemed to be heading down this fairly tall mountain.

The blue female landed besides him, and placed a wingtip on her chin to think. As she wasn't sure on how they were going to find the bandit leader.

"Okay…any idea on what to do now?" Lila asked in annoyance, as her beloved kept looking at their surroundings to find any signs of where to start.

But as he stopped on one particular spot, he noticed something very peculiar out of the corner of his eye.

"There…by that tall tree!" RDJ pointed his wingtip at where he was looking, then Lila followed his gaze. And laid her eyes upon a group of birds, that were standing around next to some kind of carriage.

"Is that him?" She pondered with an eager look, hoping to get this job done quicker than what she was expecting.

"Yeah that's him! I think I might be able to chase him down!" The blue and gold male beamed as he went to start his pursuit. But Lila used her blue wing to pull him back. "What are you doing? He's going to get away!"

"You never think do you?! They are over five hundred yards away! There is no way you'll be able to chase them down!" She spoke with a really serious tone, but he wasn't really prepared to listen to that because of how keen he was to get that book.

"Not with that attitude! Now come on!" RDJ immediately turned away from his wife and leapt off of the platform and began flying straight towards the carriage. Causing his wife to slap her forehead in anger while shaking her head.

"Ughhhhh…what a fucking idiot!" Lila grumbled in annoyance while growling in the direction of where her husband was flying. "If he carries on leaving me behind like this, we will be sleeping in separate tree hollows when we get home!" The blue female thought to herself, before leaping off of the platform to follow her husband.

Now Let's Take A Look Near The Carriage…

"I want to make things one hundred percent clear with you idiots! The assassin could be here at any moment! So I suggest you do everything possible to prevent him from coming after this book! Our master will be most pleased once he knows the locations of the keys!" The bird speaking was of course the bandit leader himself, who revealed to be a yellow macaw male with a fairly large crossbow on his back.

"What is so special about the keys sir? I know they are supposed to open the door, but why does he want to examine them?" One of his gang members spoke up while jamming his spear into the dirt.

"I'm not quite sure what he wants with them? Who knows? Maybe he has an excessive desire to translate the writing on them! Like I was intrigued when I…"

"LOOK OUT! HE'S COMING!" A military macaw spoke up in fear as he pointed to the sky, only to see that it was the assassin he was talking about. Who rapidly approached them with his hidden blades at the ready.

"SHIT! FEDOR! YAAAA!" The bandit leader spoke to a very large male horse who was standing there waiting for instructions.

"Yes my friend!" The horse who was referred to as Fedor responded, before galloping off with the carriage he was attached to dragging behind.

RDJ began to build his speed up to get to the carriage in time. But due to the fact that he arrived roughly when the carriage started to leave. He noticed that a long piece of rope was hanging off the back of it. So he had no choice but to try and grasp it.

"Oh no you don't!" RDJ angrily growled as he leapt forwards and managed to grab onto the rope with both wings. And before you knew it, he was then being dragged across the icy ground. With his wings holding on for dear life. "I sure hope this is fucking worth it father!" RDJ spoke with a really exhausted look. As he squinted his eyes tightly while being dragged off by the bandit leader's carriage.

Lila finally arrived at the scene of where the bandits were standing, and she quickly used the staff on them to make them fight each other. Which was getting pretty easy for her, since she got a real hang of it.

"Easy as one two…what the hell?!" She spoke the last part with so much annoyance, that you could see her wings start to shake.

When she shot her head towards the road, the purple eyed female watched her husband being dragged away by the carriage. This only enraged her even more. But even though she was pissed off that she had to chase after him again. She knew that it was most likely going to happen, due to the fact that they need that book.

So instead of saying anything, she put the staff on her back. Tied it down using rope, then flapped her wings to fly as fast as she could after her husband.

Now The Chase Begins…

(Authors Note: The song used in this scene doesn't have a title. So search 'Assassins Creed Revelations Horse Chase Music' on YouTube for the song! Enjoy!)

As the horse galloped away with the bandit leader controlling the reins, they were completely aware that RDJ was hanging on to the rope while being dragged behind. So they tried everything possible to shake him off.

"Grrrrrr! How do you like this assassin?!" The bandit leader bellowed as he went to ride over a patch of rocks. Which unfortunately for the blue and gold male, he couldn't really avoid it, considering he wasn't in control of his movements.

He tried to move his body to get out of the way, but he was too slow and ended up crashing into the rocks quite roughly. Banging his forehead slightly as he was pulled over the obstacle.

"Ouch! You fucker!" RDJ cursed as he felt a bit of blood trickling from his forehead, but he still managed to hang on tight.

"Oooh, you want more?! Then how about this you bastard!" He screamed before trying to swerve him into a tree. But he didn't really have trouble avoiding it, but still when he did so, he ended up bashing his talons against the rough on the other side.

"Oooh! Alright, I felt it that time!" He admitted in defeat, as he squinted his eyes tightly when feeling the tremendous amount of pain in his wings.

Crrrrrkkkk (The sound of the rope snapping)

"Merda! This won't hold for much longer!" RDJ spoke in agony, as the cold wintery air whooshed past him. Making this a lot more difficult for him to hang onto the rope. But, with all the strength that he could muster, he started to gradually pull himself up the rope to get closer to the carriage.

With his older age, he found it hard to maintain the stamina to get himself up onto the carriage. But, the good thing about this was he was now no longer in danger of the rope breaking. As he finally managed to grab hold of the edge.

"SIR! OVER HERE!" Pretty soon, another carriage pulled up alongside of the one the bandit leader was on and he quickly had to make a decision.

"MOVE IT CLOSER YOU IDIOT!" The bandit leader bellowed, as he felt like the assassin was only a few feet behind him. So he started to panic when seeing him start to pull himself up. "CLOSER!"

"HERE! JUMP ACROSS!" One of the bandits screamed as he managed to get close enough for him to move to the other carriage.

The yellow macaw male instantly jumped onto the other carriage and glared at his associate in rage.

"GET OFF ME YOU FOOL!" The bandit leader stabbed his associate in the neck and threw him off of the carriage before pulling out his crossbow.

RDJ managed to sit down in the seat on the carriage and grasp the reins. "Fedor is it?! He's gonna shoot you!" The assassin warned him as the horse began to narrow his eyes.

"Well then, we'll just have to knock him off his carriage!" He replied as he noticed that the other carriage was gradually pulling in front of them. And this just made things a bit more intense for the blue and gold male.

"This is gonna get a little bit…dangerous!" RDJ remarked with a smirk, as he lashed the reins on the horse. "YAAAA!"

Meanwhile…With Lila…

"Ha…Ha…Ha…Fuck! Where the hell is he going?!" Lila angrily panted while flapping her wings as fast as she could. But no matter how hard she tried, her stamina wasn't exactly what it used to be.

She noticed the tracks where the two carriages were running alongside each other, and tried to analyse them properly. But the very same thought was still in her mind…why did her husband just take off and leave her behind like this? Especially since she told him specifically that she didn't want him doing things like this without her.

"When I find that moron, he has got a lot of explaining to do!" The blue female huffed and puffed while shaking her head to keep her focus on the road ahead.

But as she was coming up over a hill…something very intriguing caught her eye.

"Huh?" Lila was looking at a road that was heading down some kind of mountain. With a village just down below. And she quickly noticed something else…none other than her husband was riding on a carriage next to the bird he was pursuing. As they edged towards the cliffs which had a really steep slope. "Oh…I can't see this ending well…"

Back To The Chase…

RDJ continued to drive his carriage up to the edge of the cliff with the bandit leader running just besides him. And he was getting a lot more aggressive when it came to bashing into the assassin.

"TAKE…THIS! AND THIS! YEAH, YOU LIKE THAT YOU LITTLE BITCH?!" The bandit leader bellowed as he rammed his carriage into RDJ's. and he found it really hard not to drive it off the cliff. So he had another idea in mind.

"Oh yeah?! How about this for a shot?!" RDJ responded as he pulled out a throwing knife and aimed it at the horse pulling the yellow macaw's carriage. And he threw it straight at the horse's leg. Making him fall over and the carriage then smashed into RDJ's. Causing both of them to fall off the cliff together. And the two of them separated and landed on different sides of the rocks below. "Ahhhhhh…OOOF! AHHHHH…SHHHHIT!" The blue and gold male groaned in pain as he landed flat on his back. Feeling like he landed on a pile of knives. "Oooh, why didn't I just flap my wings?! Ahhhhh…my back!"

From the other side of the rocks, the bandit leader landed in a bush fortunately for him. And only managed to damage his right wing. But no permanent damage was inflicted on him. "Oooh…that's gonna leave a mark!" He remarked painfully, as he swiftly spun around and slowly started limping down the mountains edge to make it back to the road leading to the village. While RDJ remained on the ground groaning in pain. "I must…get away from him! He can't…get this book!"

Now Let's Quickly Head Back To Lila Again…

The irritation shown on Lila's face was so frightening, that it would be enough to scare many of the birds away in her path. She was following the road where her husband had been chasing the bandit leader, and she also witnessed him falling off of the cliff. But did she really feel any sympathy for him…no…none whatsoever!

"I told him that if he carries on doing these stupid idiotic things, he will eventually get himself killed! But unfortunately talking to him is like talking to Pedro about how not to be a giant douche bag!" Lila angrily growled when noticing the remains of the collision on the edge of the cliff. Meaning that she was close by. "Shit…poor horses! Hopefully they'll be okay?" She softly spoke while hovering above where they both laid on the floor in pain from the collision.

She scanned the area quickly for any signs of her husband. But when she thought that there was no sign of him…she noticed a figure slowly moving around on the rocks down below. And that figure was wearing an assassins robe, which of course had to be her husband.

The blue female rolled her eyes and huffed in annoyance, before shooting down to the ground to check on him. But at the same time give him another lecture about his dangerous plans that he doesn't even think about.

"RDJ!" Lila shouted in anger, as the figure stopped moving and slowly turned his head around. Revealing her husband's bruised up face, with a couple of cuts that were only small flesh wounds on his face. "What the fuck was all of that?!" She landed on the floor just in front of him and slapped him across the face brutally. "Do you have any idea how worried I was about you?!"

"So, you think slapping me would make me feel okay?! I had it under control." RDJ responded a little upset, and took the staff from his wife so it could heal his injuries a lot faster. "Everything was under control honey…"

"Oooh yeah, you had it ALL under control didn't you?! You are going to have a serious heart attack or get killed out there doing this kind of thing! You're not a young assassin anymore don't forget? You have to be mote careful." Clearly you could see behind that angered scowl, she was actually more worried about him rather than angry with him. Even though she was pretty pissed off still.

"I know my love I know! I'm sorry! I really am sorry!" RDJ turned away from his wife as he felt his injuries slowly healing themselves. As he just sat on the ground feeling out of breath for the moment. "Cough! Cough! Cough! I just need…a clear chance to get him!"

"Look at yourself! You are really making stupid decisions right now in your condition! Why don't we just hunt this guy together? I didn't appreciate you leaving me on my own back there." Lila did slightly soften her expression when seeing her husband feeling quite poorly. She also placed a wing on his shoulder to try and talk some sense into him. "What made you think you could get him on your own?"

"You don't understand Lila…I have to do this! This is what my father would have wanted me to do!" RDJ sadly responded, as he felt the wounds and bruises on his body, fading from sight.

"What? Get yourself killed?! You barely survived the fall off the cliff without me, let alone chasing him down!"

"Hey! I did the best I could! It wasn't my fault that I had to travel by carriage? Now come on, he is getting away!" The blue and gold male extended his wing and his wife pulled him back onto his talons. Before the duo started walking side by side…as they followed the trail of blood that was leading down the mountain.

Which was quite easy to be spotted due to the fact that the rocks were covered in snow, so the blood spots were easily seen by the naked eye.

RDJ took the lead with determination, not looking away from the blood trail for a single second. But as his beloved was walking by his side…she had a little something on her chest that she needed to speak with him about.

"RDJ, do you…think that I slow you down?" Lila broke the silence in a calm manner, as they picked up the pace a little to find their way back to the road.

"No? What would make you think that?" He replied a little shocked by this statement, pushing the leaves of bushes out of the way.

"It seems that every moment on this trip feels like that I am an obstacle for you! And to me that feels like you didn't want me here?"

"Honey, first of all I didn't want you to come originally, because I didn't want you to get hurt! But now that you are here, I'm glad you did join me!"

"Why's that?" She arched a curious eyebrow, as they neared the edge of the road.

"Because I've not been able to do this without you! And listen, I know that our marriage has been a bit…rocky!" RDJ joked while pointing to the rocks below them, causing his wife to smirk only a little bit while rolling her eyes. "But I want to fix that! Because I don't want to lose you!"

Lila did feel touched by his words to be completely honest, and she did soften her expression. Also, she did feel that he was telling the truth, which in turn did make her smile. "I don't want to lose you either! That's why we have to do this together. Because we are stronger together than apart!"

"Birds of the world…" He stuck his wing out lovingly for hers to take.

"Always stick together!" She responded with a small smile. As this was the first decent conversation that they have had on this trip.

But while this was going on, what they didn't realise was that the bandit leader was hobbling along the road to get to the small village that was at the bottom of the mountain.

The village was quite peaceful at times, and it had a lot of life during the summer. But…during the winter, the bandits had completely taken over. Many of the locals were petrified of them if they ever got in their way. But since the war had ended, they weren't as scared as they used to be.

The yellow macaw male finally made it to the entrance, and was greeted by a few of his men. They seemed a bit surprised to see him hobbling along, but they were concerned about his condition.

"Guys! Be on high alert!" The bandit leader called out, clutching his wing in pain while limping past them. With a couple of them accompanying him. "The assassin is here! He's already killed all of our men at the sanctuary! We need to keep an eye out for him!"

"He killed all of them?! I thought you said he was old? Like…37 years old?" A red bellied macaw called out in a shocked manner.

"He is the head of the assassins you idiot! Now before we…"

"ASSASSIN! ASSASSIN! FLY FOR YOUR LIVES!" One of the locals bellowed in fear as everyone who wasn't a bandit screamed in terror, and flew in all directions to get away from the area.

RDJ arrived on the scene with his wife by his side, and he pulled out his bow and arrow. Whereas Lila just twirled the staff around that her husband gave back to her once his injuries were fully healed.

"You! Give me the book you stole from the sanctuary!" The blue and gold male growled in fury.

"So…looks like you are as deadly as they say?! Come then RDJ! If you want it? Come and get it!" The yellow male beamed as he pointed to his guards. "Kill the assassin! And bring me his head!"

RDJ turned to his wife and nodded his head. Then she quickly used the staff and cube on the many guards in the area. Lifting all of them up off the floor in some kind of anti gravity trick. Causing the leader to also freeze in a tight grip. As the power of this staff just kept him stuck and wasn't able to move a single muscle.

RDJ slowly began waltzing up to the guards in a mocking manner. Then he walked up to the first guard, and very casually stabbed him in the neck with his hidden blade.

"One guard!" Then he walked over to two more and slit both of their throats and threw two knives at another two. "Four more guards!"

"S-S-Stop! I can't…I can't…move!" The bandit leader was struggling to move his wings, as Lila focused more on him due to the fact that he had the book that they were after.

RDJ then got a little bit bored and did a quick fire shooting display with his bow and arrow. Killing all the remaining guards in the area. With only the bandit leader remaining…as all of his men dropped to the floor lifeless.

Lila then approached the bandit leader with an angry snarl on her face, but that changed when he decided to be a little creepy.

"Well, now…ahhh…aren't you a pretty specimen! If I wasn't stuck in this state, I'd give you a good time!" He spoke in a creepy tone, which of course irritated the assassin a lot.

"HEY! That's my wife you are talking about!" RDJ growled as he stuck out his wing and pointed the blade towards his throat. "The book…now!"

"It's in…my back…holster! Let your wife get it…I wouldn't mind being frisked by her!"

"Oh? You wanna be frisked by me? Okay then, how about I just do this instead?!" Lila got tired of his creepy words and rammed a knife into his throat. Before she let him out of the grip of the energy. Then he dropped to the floor choking on his own blood. "Fucking creep!"

"Nice kill!" RDJ remarked as he began patting down the lifeless corpse, trying to find the book that he was carrying. "Ahhh, here it is!"

The blue and gold male picked it up in his wings, and opened the book to see what was inside.

Lila looked over his shoulder to see what he was reading, and what was contained inside really surprised her. Because the inscriptions on the first page really intrigued her.

"What does this mean?" She asked her husband curiously as she pointed to a paragraph highlighted on the first page.

"Hmmm…it says that the keys that were lost…were hidden away…in the birthplace of the Great War?" RDJ read the words very carefully while trying to translate some of the words. But what he read next…lit up a spark inside his mind. "Mexico?"

"Mexico?! Isn't that the place that you circled on the map back in Rio?"

"Yes! I knew that there was something specific about that place! Maybe this is where we need to go to solve everything! The secrets about the war? My father's work completed? Even we could have the odd day off where we can spend some time together!" RDJ explained as he closed the book and put in in his arrow bag.

"Really? You're not lying to me again are you?" Lila asked in a serious tone while narrowing her eyes.

The blue and gold male smiled at her warmly, and grasped both of her wings in a loving manner. Staring deep into her purple eyes. "I really mean it honey! You and I shall do all the things I promised! And, to even prove to you that I'm telling the truth, how about the first day we get there, we can explore the city? We can check out the scenery and meet some of the locals? Not to mention check out the beaches?"

"But what if something related to assassin work comes up? Then you'll just leave and then I'll be on my own…again!" She emphasised the last part with an annoyed look. Causing her husband to chuckle anxiously.

"Then we can deal with it together, so it gets done faster! Then we could find somewhere to relax after the hard work?" RDJ responded and kissed her on the side of her beak. "Come on sweetie? I know that we've had our problems so far, but I want to start making amends? What do you say?"

Lila was a little worried about this whole trip to Mexico. She knew that obviously if something came up that her husband needed to do, then he would need to deal with it being the head of the assassin order. But…it didn't really seem fair that she was always left on her own all the time. Then again…she hoped that RDJ will live up to his promises. Otherwise…their marriage could be in jeopardy.

"Okay…but you must stick to your word! Because I will say this one time and one time only. If you screw this up for us…then there will be no more second chances! I mean it!" She sternly spoke while narrowing her eyes at him.

"Honey…I love you with all of my heart! What I am saying to you is the truth! First day in Mexico will be a me and you day!" RDJ replied as he rubbed her back affectionately.

"Well then…I suppose we better get ourselves to the nearest airport!" Lila spoke with a small grin, as the couple did share a quick kiss on the beak, then they departed for the airport.

Two Hours Later…On The Plane To Mexico…

(RDJ Once Again Narrating Whilst Writing Another Letter To His Sister…)

"Iris, myself and Lila managed to find the book that leads us to the hidden keys to Jair's tomb. But now our journey is taking a turn, as we are now heading to Mexico City in search for these hidden artefacts. Haaaa…Lila and I are still having our problems in our marriage. It appears that I am not making enough effort as she wishes I should. That's why we will have a day together on the first day in Mexico. Who knows? Maybe this little detour will help return the spark in our marriage. And maybe…I might be able to make her happy again, as well as finishing what my father first started…"

(He seals the letter in an envelope and puts it in his arrow bag, before sleeping next to his wife on the plane.)

Well now, it appears that we have a little detour now my friends! RDJ and Lila will now be heading off to Mexico to try and find the hidden keys of Jair. Lila of course showing her concern for her husband, regardless of the fact that she isn't very happy with him right now. But as mentioned, they will be trying to fix their marriage problems with a beautiful first day together in Mexico! So without any other spoilers, I'll see you all for chapter 3!
